Went here back in July during my trip to Canada. I didn't expect much, especially since it was just a sandwich shop, but I'm in love. I liked the seating a lot. It was clear there was seating inside, but they also have an outdoor seating area that is much more enjoyable. The entire street is like a plaza so there's no cars rumbling by. Also, the area where they make food reminds me of Chipotle, a lot. Pretty neat. The employees were very patient. The particular employee taking our order had to rewrite our order three times because some of us kept changing our sandwich, and that's something that'd piss me off, but these employees have self-restraint, much kudos to them. They also called the name on our order and brought our food outside. They're doing so much and it made the experience so good. My sandwich was fantastic. I had the chicken sandwich, and it was so crispy. The chicken had so much crunch and my bread must've been fresh out of the oven cause it was nice and warm. Might be the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. Fantastic restaurant, employees, and food. I highly suggest that you stop by here no matter what you're doing in the area. Awesome place to visit while in Montreal! Came up from NY for a day trip and was looking for a lunch spot and this was definitely a hitter! Had the fried chicken sandwich and it lives up to the viral videos about it. The restaurant was supper busy inside so I had to eat at one of the local parks. Line was out the door but only waited maybe 10 minutes they are pretty efficient. Bread and chicken is made fresh and the flavors they pack in are amazing. To the US tourists as a heads up the couldn't take a US credit card so I had to go around the corner to a nearby ATM. read more

Stopped by this spot recently, and while the restaurant is a bit small (not sure about their other locations), the customer service was top-notch--super friendly and welcoming! We tried their famous Chicken Panko sandwich ($10.80 + tax), which was good (3.5/5), but the real winner was the Homemade Merguez sandwich ($10.80 + tax)--4.5/5, full of flavor and perfectly cooked! This was one of my favorite things I had in Montreal! I had the poulet panko and the thôn tunisian and they were both so delicious. The bread is incredible. I've never had anything like it. The texture is kind of like a mix between ciabatta and pita. It's crispy, but soft. I loved the patio seating in the Mont Royal pedestrian only area. Super cute. If I'm ever in Montreal again, I'll definitely go back. Wish they'd open a spot in LA! read more

Look, I am not an expert by any means, whether that be on Montreal or sandwiches. But... I do know a DAMN good sandwich when I have one. I was recommended to check out this little spot by a local and I am eternally grateful to them for putting me on to this spot. I got the merguez maison and it was excellent, some spicy-ish sausage, veg, and yummy sauce on a really good house made pita. While it was busy the service was streamlined in a deli counter type fashion while I got to wait outside and enjoy the beautiful Montreal summer. I don't speak any French but my needs were easily understood and met. To anyone looking for a quick bite around the area, could not recommend more. read more

Among the best sandwiches I've ever had. I've had the thon tunisien, the le kebab libre, and the poulet, and I have to say that my favourite is the tuna- the addition of a fried egg is too good. But every sandwich has been incredible. It partly because of that BREAD. It's reminiscent of a ciabatta but it's thinner so it almost is like a pita. While we were munching on our delicious Kouignn Aman from across the street, we spotted this bright orange establishment with a flying rhinoceros on its window. As the curious beings we are, we decided to take a stroll across the street and into café Kahwa. Even with my congested sinus, I could smell the aromas of spices mixed with the warm roasted coffee. As we were looking through the menu, our faces shot up with excitement when we saw the merguez couscous but were quickly saddened when the owner told us that it wasn't available yet. However, the chicken couscous was far from a let down. The couscous was as fluffy as a cloud while the chicken and vegetables were flavoured to perfection. The portion sizes are very generous for a reasonable price. This hip spot also has various paintings for purchase or simply to admire while you eat - everything from mannequins to photographs to wild animals painted on birch. Do not miss this hidden gem in Mont Royal, very close to the metro stop. This place is seriously legit with only five sandwiches, but each one executed to perfection (which you get to see as you stand in line with everyone else who has discovered this spot!). 60% of the awesomeness of the sandwich, comes from the fluffy bread, sort of like a marriage between a pita bread and ciabatta, piping hot from the oven. The rest of the magic comes from the fillings - - we had the tuna with a fried egg as well as the lamb kebab. Both had this amazing Kahwa sauce, which was like a grown-up version of Sriracha mayo and all kinds of awesome veggies. At $10 a pop, it's hard to find a more satisfying (and filling) sandwich with this type of bang for the Canadian buck. The man behind the counter not only acted like a 3-legged chair, but responded with such disdain I felt the obligation to convert to his hip franco elitist standards. Had a bagel here (delicious because it was from St. Viateur) toasted the usual. The overall ambiance here is quite nice and the decor on the walls are very interesting. The coffee is good. But, Will say a few things about the service, the guys upfront refused to take credit cards? It says no where in front of the store or anywhere that the shop only takes cash and debit only. On top of that the guy refused to even try to swipe our cards if they were international even if the credit card was Visa. I was a bit taken aback at how rude he was but i supposed it could just be the situation. read more

Oh yum! A little taste of home with a fusion chick twist to it. You almost feel like your grandma is serving your dinner, but instead it's a super good looking Morrocan. The vegetable soup was actually lentil soup but super laden with garlic, cumin, so much yummy green leaves too. Absolutely loved this place from my first visit. Coffee was good, and the rustic decor really transports you to another place. The only food option is the cous cous which is amazing and comes in vegetarian option as well, totally good enough for a full meal. Im a huge fan of nice wooden tables as well and this cafe is full of it. There are outlets, fast wifi, making it a great place to study. My only gripe would be the bathroom is a bit frightening .
