Kaibab Lake Campground is located north of I-40 as you head towards the Grand Canyon (60 miles…read moreaway). I have lost count as to how many times I have passed by this beautiful, well-maintained area without camping here, but this will no longer be the case. We stayed two nights here (June 7-8, 2016) and it wasn't enough during our weeklong trip. Dry camping only - tents, trailers, & RVs. No hook-ups. Just you, your posse, your home away from home. We found that the pull-through sites were not our style. The back-in sites were more level and seemed to have a better feel. If you end up with a pull-through site, though, you will still be a happy camper. It's mostly relatively quiet here. You can still kind of hear the I-40 and trains off in the distance. Otherwise, it's very peaceful. The campground hosts are really friendly and helpful. They sell firewood, ice cream, fishing bait and ice at their check-in area. PROS - vault toilets (but they actually smell nice & toilet paper is provided!) - paved roads & graveled sites - each site also has a fire ring with a grill & a picnic table - leashed pets are allowed - garbage AND recycle bins are nearby CONS - closed from October to April due to weather - no utilities or dump station (and please don't dump your grey water onto the ground!) - no running water except the potable water spigots (for drinking only... FYI... the lake is a water source for the City of Williams) TIPS - reserve your site online at recreation.gov - day use areas are by the lake - fishing is allowed - for license info. go to https://www.azgfd.com/ - daytime average temp. = 82°F & night time = 54°F. HOWEVER, these fluctuate. Be prepared. The pine trees smell amazing here. Or perhaps I had been inhaling the L.A. smog a bit too much - ha! The twinkling stars at night are a breath of fresh air too. The funny little Kaibab squirrels who to my surprise really didn't bother us... They are pretty flippin' smart. So fast. Too fast for cameras. Stay here at least one night if you get the chance! Unfortunately, we couldn't have a fire due to fire restrictions. However, we were able to bring our own gas-powered fire pit. I'm glad my husband checked the website a few days prior to our reservation, otherwise we wouldn't have known. It would be nice to get informed by email if you have a reservation about fire restrictions, because if we didn't bring our blackstone to make our food, I would have been very upset. Before arriving, I did some research on the black bear shack that our friends told us about, but sadly found out they are not at this campground anymore. The road coming in is extremely bumpy and rough. When leaving the campground, I recommend going left instead of right. Our cars needed a very good car wash after! The campground is very beautiful. The weather was perfect; in the 50s at night and high 70s in the afternoon. I would definitely camp here again.

Currently camping here after avandoning my flagstaff site due to wildfires, thought i was lucky…read moreenough to find a replacement last minute.....haha of course not. unfortunately this campground does not enforce quiet hours- its almost midnight and we have had a large group at site A23 screaming, chanting, doing keg stands for actual hours. They threw a burning log out of their pit at one point & just watched it burn out. There are large active wildfires near flagstaff, it would be nice if camp hosts would intervene for safety. The most frustrating inconsiderate campers ruin peace and enjoyment for everyone. I just watched one of the sites pack up and leave minutes ago because of the noise. There is another site on the other side of the campground with loud music and bass playing. It 11:49 at night. To my understanding quiet hours begin at 10? Idk I don't recommend if you enjoy the peacefulness of the outdoors, however if you are looking to tailgate, you've come to the right place.

Stayed here twice. Most recent stay we found ourselves with a need to change campsites. The staff…read moremember in the office handled the request very well and it was clear that they just wanted us to be happy and comfortable. Plenty of staff on duty during the day. Restrooms and showers were clean. No issues with RV site power. As with many KOAs, this location was off the highway so there is some vehicle noise depending on how close one's campsite is to the highway. Overall, we would stay again if visiting the area.

Kids on ebikes have ruined a beautiful place. The park's own rules about ebikes are - licensed…read moreriders, 4.5 mph, no joyriding in the camping area. Totally unenforced. I politely complained via text and the reply was "we'll have staff keep an eye out ". I have children on motocross ebikes racing through the empty spot next to me and children on little Polaris sxs's racing each other on the street. When they hit someone it will be an expensive reminder of why there are rules in the first place. Too bad, it's a beautiful place.

Added plus -- there's a free shuttle to and from the train station! There was also a free barbeque (donations accepted but not required) on Saturday for Memorial Day. Beef and pork, corn, green beans, and even dessert! We understand they do this on every holiday! We had a flat tire on our camper on the morning we were scheduled to leave, and we were unable to get the lug nuts off to change the tire. Two campground employees noticed our struggle and stopped to help. They had the tools to loosen the lug nuts and then stayed to help us finish changing the tire. Couldn't have done it without their help!

No fire pits allowed but they have a common fire put in the park you can use. Quiet time is at 10pm. Rooms were clean! Small fridge, coffee maker & microwave. No freezer. Would absolutely come back! Staff is incredible.

They accommodate our gluten free and vegetarian needs excellently. The equipment was well organized and reliable. They are helpful in providing transport to and from the put in and you can leave your car for a $3 a day fee - which is much safer then leaving it at a put in spot. Also they gave us a bunch of free swag :)

We arrived a few minutes early and the van was there waiting for us with our e-bikes out and ready to go. We got a brief, thorough introduction to the bikes and trail. It was clear that they cared about us being safe and having a good time. If you haven't tried e-bikes before, it is like riding a normal bike on a slight downhill even when going against the wind or uphill. The trails were smooth, and the scenery was gorgeous. I highly recommend this activity and company.

Unfortunately, even though we returned about 30 minutes early, his bike ran out of battery and he had to pedal and walk it back. My battery was also blinking and close to dying by the end. We didn't want to wait around for a replacement battery while on the trail, so we just returned the bikes and continued with our day.
