The "park" features a few trees, as well as some statues and memorials dedicated to veterans. There are a few parking spots on the north side of the park, and during the holidays, they string some Christmas lights in the trees. Come to think of it, it is actually kind of pretty at night. Not much to it, I suppose, but perhaps it is a nice place for locals and passersby to remember their loved ones who served our country. On a lighter note, and certainly not meaning any disrespect for the former sentiment, there is a pokemon go gym here... if you're still into that sort of thing. If you are looking for a place to let the kids run around, head North a little bit, to the softball field area closer to Highway 40. Probably safer, and definitely a lot more space for them to burn off some energy earned pent up in the hotel room watching bad basic cable.

Kaibab Lake Campground is located north of I-40 as you head towards the Grand Canyon (60 miles…read moreaway). I have lost count as to how many times I have passed by this beautiful, well-maintained area without camping here, but this will no longer be the case. We stayed two nights here (June 7-8, 2016) and it wasn't enough during our weeklong trip. Dry camping only - tents, trailers, & RVs. No hook-ups. Just you, your posse, your home away from home. We found that the pull-through sites were not our style. The back-in sites were more level and seemed to have a better feel. If you end up with a pull-through site, though, you will still be a happy camper. It's mostly relatively quiet here. You can still kind of hear the I-40 and trains off in the distance. Otherwise, it's very peaceful. The campground hosts are really friendly and helpful. They sell firewood, ice cream, fishing bait and ice at their check-in area. PROS - vault toilets (but they actually smell nice & toilet paper is provided!) - paved roads & graveled sites - each site also has a fire ring with a grill & a picnic table - leashed pets are allowed - garbage AND recycle bins are nearby CONS - closed from October to April due to weather - no utilities or dump station (and please don't dump your grey water onto the ground!) - no running water except the potable water spigots (for drinking only... FYI... the lake is a water source for the City of Williams) TIPS - reserve your site online at recreation.gov - day use areas are by the lake - fishing is allowed - for license info. go to https://www.azgfd.com/ - daytime average temp. = 82°F & night time = 54°F. HOWEVER, these fluctuate. Be prepared. The pine trees smell amazing here. Or perhaps I had been inhaling the L.A. smog a bit too much - ha! The twinkling stars at night are a breath of fresh air too. The funny little Kaibab squirrels who to my surprise really didn't bother us... They are pretty flippin' smart. So fast. Too fast for cameras. Stay here at least one night if you get the chance! Currently camping here after avandoning my flagstaff site due to wildfires, thought i was lucky…read moreenough to find a replacement last minute.....haha of course not. unfortunately this campground does not enforce quiet hours- its almost midnight and we have had a large group at site A23 screaming, chanting, doing keg stands for actual hours. They threw a burning log out of their pit at one point & just watched it burn out. There are large active wildfires near flagstaff, it would be nice if camp hosts would intervene for safety. The most frustrating inconsiderate campers ruin peace and enjoyment for everyone. I just watched one of the sites pack up and leave minutes ago because of the noise. There is another site on the other side of the campground with loud music and bass playing. It 11:49 at night. To my understanding quiet hours begin at 10? Idk I don't recommend if you enjoy the peacefulness of the outdoors, however if you are looking to tailgate, you've come to the right place.

There are several historical markers here that talk about the history of the town, as well as its association with the Mother Road. It is within walking distance of a lot of businesses but I recommend driving to the Visitors Center as well. Be sure to get a selfie next to the Route 66 sign.

Honky tonk bars, shops, restaurants the whole nine yards. It was busier this weekend because of the anniversary - Williams is also the entry point to the famous and majestic Grand Canyon. Keep in mind that we came during mid-March. There weren't any attendants around and the place was empty. There wasn't a ton of snow left because of the time of year, but there was enough left from last week's snowfall that it served its purpose. The kids had fun for a couple hours sledding. I read they don't allow plastic sleds there normally. You would need foam or inflatables. There are supposed to be 2 main runs but it was hard to tell which they were. We didn't have trouble finding some hills to play on. There was free parking and a restroom. Plus! It was pretty muddy getting back to the car but that's expected for snow play. We had a good time here and it was a nice little free excursion for the kids.

Did a tour of the bottom of the canyon. The canyon itself was amazing. The wildflowers were in full…read morebloom. The temperature was great. The guide was on time. The stop on rt 66 was fun. However the guide was very hard to understand and his lack of knowledge about flaura and fauna was shocking given how much the trip cost. The pre recorded audio was ok, but a real guide would have customized the trip to the time of year and the specific flowers in bloom and perhaps identified scat and tracks or otherwise found ways to share some passion for the canyon. There was also a mixup regarding the hike so I didn't get to do the one thing I was looking forward to most. Overall I would not recommend.

My son had never seen the Grand Canyon, and I remember…read morebooking a tour that took us to the south rim overlook, and also down to the Colorado river water level, as well as a stop in an Indian reservation. I chose this only because it was the top result in the google search I made. Instead of the view of the grand canyon, we got to spend over seven hours in a smaller bus, with no air conditioning for much of the time captive inside on a very hot day. Much of the tour time was spent in construction traffic on the road, and on a very dusty bumpy dirt road. There was not much of a view where we were, and the water was very muddy and dirty, compared to other locations higher up the river in the canyon, which of course is out of the control of operators. This tour was twice the money as other options, but I felt we got much less than other tours. Other tour reviews rave about the great food, but in this case, we got a subway box meal. Our driver left for a section of the tour when we got to the river, causing us to be hassled by a local ranger, who wanted to know who was on the tour and to see our permit. I was not able to provide the permit for our tour bus, and he stayed by my child until we could find the driver who had the permit. We never went to the Grand Canyon Park, or the overlook, and this tour wasted our entire day on our limited vacation. Unfortunately, our efforts to get into the park the next day were thwarted by very heavy weather, and so we will have to actually see the grand canyon another time a few years from now. This tour went through the town of Seligman, an interesting and historical section of old Route 66, and the inspiration for the Disney movie "Cars", but did not even stop there. We saw other tour buses let people out for pictures and to walk around, but not this tour. Very disappointed. I cannot imagine who this tour is designed for, but I would not recommend it to anyone.
