Did a tour of the bottom of the canyon. The canyon itself was amazing. The wildflowers were in full bloom. The temperature was great. The guide was on time. The stop on rt 66 was fun. However the guide was very hard to understand and his lack of knowledge about flaura and fauna was shocking given how much the trip cost. The pre recorded audio was ok, but a real guide would have customized the trip to the time of year and the specific flowers in bloom and perhaps identified scat and tracks or otherwise found ways to share some passion for the canyon. There was also a mixup regarding the hike so I didn't get to do the one thing I was looking forward to most. Overall I would not recommend. read more

We were very disappointed in this tour. My son had never seen the Grand Canyon, and I remember booking a tour that took us to the south rim overlook, and also down to the Colorado river water level, as well as a stop in an Indian reservation. I chose this only because it was the top result in the google search I made. Instead of the view of the grand canyon, we got to spend over seven hours in a smaller bus, with no air conditioning for much of the time captive inside on a very hot day. Much of the tour time was spent in construction traffic on the road, and on a very dusty bumpy dirt road. There was not much of a view where we were, and the water was very muddy and dirty, compared to other locations higher up the river in the canyon, which of course is out of the control of operators. This tour was twice the money as other options, but I felt we got much less than other tours. Other tour reviews rave about the great food, but in this case, we got a subway box meal. Our driver left for a section of the tour when we got to the river, causing us to be hassled by a local ranger, who wanted to know who was on the tour and to see our permit. I was not able to provide the permit for our tour bus, and he stayed by my child until we could find the driver who had the permit. We never went to the Grand Canyon Park, or the overlook, and this tour wasted our entire day on our limited vacation. Unfortunately, our efforts to get into the park the next day were thwarted by very heavy weather, and so we will have to actually see the grand canyon another time a few years from now. This tour went through the town of Seligman, an interesting and historical section of old Route 66, and the inspiration for the Disney movie "Cars", but did not even stop there. We saw other tour buses let people out for pictures and to walk around, but not this tour. Very disappointed. I cannot imagine who this tour is designed for, but I would not recommend it to anyone. read more

We felt stranded, betrayed and lied to.Read on to learn how this company: 1. Grossly misrepresented what was included in the tour 2. Failed to pre-arrange for part of the tour (local Navajo guide never contacted) 3. Is nothing more than a booking service - They are not the tour operator. 4. Charges you at least $120 to $140 per person more than you would spend if you booked it yourself. 1. GROSS MISREPRESENTATION a. We were told that we would leave Williams, AZ at 6:30 am and return to Williams, AZ at 5:30 pm. This is not true. The earliest we could have expected to get back (we learned later) to Williams was 7:00 pm but for us we did not get back until 8:30 pm because they forgot to book part two of the tour with the local tour guide. More on that later. b. We were told that it was "a couple hours'" drive to the marina where we would start our tour. This was wrong. It was almost four hours drive each way. c. We were told that the boat tour portion would include a ride through marble canyon. Not true. We did get a boat tour but it barely left the marina and it only took us through Antelope Canyon, which was pretty in its own right but was not the same stunning beauty as was represented in the photo we were shown of Marble Canyon. d. We were told that we would be having lunch in the world's largest floating restaurant. Not true. We were given a box lunch that consisted of a sandwich on white bread, an apple and a bag of chips. 2. FAILED TO PRE-ARRANGE PART OF THE TOUR a. We were told that the second part of our tour would be led by a local Navajo Indian guide. The agent told us how great this guide is and that he would be playing his pan flute for us as part of that section of the tour. Apparently The Grand Canyon Store forgot to book the time with the Navajo guide and so when we all got off the boat and up the ramp to meet the guide, he was no where to be found. b. After an hour of sitting around and waiting, our bus driver announced that he was going to cancel part two and take us back to Flagstaff. We all piled into the van and started the drive back. Twenty minutes in to the drive, someone from the Grand Canyon Store called our driver and told him to turn around. They had apparently managed to secure a different guide for the walk through Antelope Slot Canyon. No flute playing though. 3. BOOKING SERVICE - NOT A TOUR OPERATOR a. The boat tour is not operated by The Grand Canyon Store. We got off the van and boarded a vessel wholly operated by a separate company. The ten or so people that rode in our van were joined by other tourists who drove to the marina on their own and who booked passage on the boat tour separately. b. The walking tour through Antelope Slot Canyon is not operated by The Grand Canyon Store. This tour and access to this canyon is wholly operated by local Navajo and Sazi tribes. 4. SAVE AT LEAST $120 OR MORE PER PERSON - BOOK IT YOURSELF a. The savings you can achieve increase with more people because you will share in total gasoline expenses. Also, access fees to the marina and to the Slot Canyon location are "per vehicle" so the more people you have in your car the less you spend per person. b. The Grand Canyon Store charges $229 + tax per person for this combo tour to Antelope Canyon on the water and Antelope Slot Canyon on land (these two sites are roughly ten minutes apart by car). The cost to do the boat tour alone is $49. The cost to do the Antelope Slot Canyon walking tour is $30. So, for roughly $80 each you get both the experiences but you would need to drive yourself. OK factor in $40 to $80 in gas depending on what you drive and an additional $40 in access fees per vehicle. For us, we figured if we drove ourselves and booked these mini tours by ourselves, we could have done it for $120 each including fees and gasoline for a total of $240 for two. We paid The Grand Canyon Store c$480 including taxes for two and the experience was not what was promised. FINAL THOUGHTS: Had we known then what we know now we would never have booked this trip with The Grand Canyon Store. Especially now since despite ALL these problems the company has refused to refund any portion of what we paid. We will never do business with them again and we hope you rely on this review to make an informed decision about whether you want to do business with The Grand Canyon Store when traveling and exploring Flagstaff, Williams, Sedona or The Grand Canyon. Great experience at the grand canyon!! Very high and deep off of the with entrance. What got me upset was how people were passing the ledge to get closer to the edge of the canyon possibly able to fall over does the park really need to pt signs up saying not to cross over or don't get too close come'pon people common sense! Another thing was parking is ridiculous and just to drive by off the south entrance for $30 thats a rip off. Overall my experience was great took about 15-20 mins to grab a picture and check out the grand canyon kind of a rip off even after having a hassle to find parking and long lines to get in the park I think they shoulsny charge just to go to the south entrance only the tours and going to the bottom. read more

The "Inner Canyon Tour" is something folks ought to try. It's mostly impossible (without planning and a lot of sweat and walking) to get to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. We did this in style, with a great lunch, and awesome guide, and found ourselves swimming in the Colorado River, thousands of feet deep. The canyon is alive down there. Some bighorn sheep came along. Finally got to see them first hand! I read other reviews and was mystified by what "ZenRider X" wrote. This company is first class and I assume the person writing the review needs some additional study. I met the owner, they run their own vehicles, have their own guides (Scott was way cool) and I'm just amazed at how easy it was to have a day doing something we otherwise would never be able to do. We took the "new" all-day jeep tour down into the Grand Canyon, followed by a white water and smooth water rafting trip, then a helicopter ride back out. It was great fun for adults and kids. We enjoyed the stop at the hidden water falls. Outhouses at Spencer Beach were nasty. Beware that the rafts are hard on backs and legs. read more

My girlfriend and I did the inner canyon tour. I didn't realize you could get there by jeep and not hiking. The Colorado river was beautiful! The staff was very friendly. I would highly recommend this tour. And I can't wait to do it again! The price was right. read more

We weren't sure what we were gonna do at the Grand Canyon but our hotel concierge suggested the Grand Canyon custom tours and we were not Disappointed Chris was our Guide and he was such a sweet guy he did such a great job ! We had a small group that made it easy to enjoy The tour contained a lot of information and stories of the past and we took the hike option which have us exciting animal sightings like horned sheep and mules , and so chalked full of nature it was truly beautiful we had a truly memorable and unique experience we highly recommend this excursion !thank you for the memories read more

If you are looking for an adventure of a lifetime, take the Inner Canyon Tour. The tour is awesome and you will not be disappointed. You ride through Seligman, which is where they developed the storyline for "Cars" and is also known as Radiator Springs. You continue down into the Grand Canyon through Peach Springs. The tour guide gives you a complete narration throughout the trip and you will learn so much about the Grand Canyon and it's geology. Some tours drop you off and you're on your own. Not Grand Canyon Store! Some drive themselves into the Grand Canyon, take a few pictures, and go home not knowing what they really saw. This will most likely be your first and only time visiting the Grand Canyon National Park, and you might as well make the most of it! read more

Your review helps others learn about great local businesses. They no longer do the Jeep tours. Tour is 7 hours in a little bus. 2 hours each way is on very bumpy gravel road, which is fine. All four hours of that is moving at walking speed. The big problem is it is not what one would envision as the "bottom" of the canyon, although it does go to the river. There are no majestic view of towering canyon walls. This tour is NOT in the park it is on the reservation. Goes through a cute little section of Route 66 but sadly does not stop there. Driver was nice fellow but this was definitely not worth the almost $550.00 the two of us spent. And....how about a pretty fruit and cheese tray and some sort of artisian sandwich rather than Subway??? i went on a jeep tour in 2010. its something i'll never forget. i'll never forget the cold rushing colorado river on my feet. i have tons of great pictures and video from the trip. our guides were good from what i can remember. i went on this tour before seeing the top of the canyon, which gave me a very unique perspective on things. lunch wasn't bad that they provided. read more

We did the jeep tour to the bottom of the canyon. Great staff, wonderful lunch and very careful attention. We felt so safe with our guide, Bob, he had a great sense of humor and made the day a fun experience. We took 2 middle schoolers and had a great time. They were great about providing water and snacks. We learned lots about cactus and wildlife and even met 3 sweet wild burros. Would highly recommend.
