This is my 2nd week of going to Kailua Wellness Center, I was in a work place accident and was recommended by the Workman's comp agency. This place is close to my home, they have free parking and the doctors I have are both excellent Physical Therapist. I have both Doctor Carlie & Doctor Steve, Between them they have a lot of experience and both are very compassionate and professional. They listen and observe to make sure you are not only doing things right but to make sure you are comfortable and not aggravating the injury more. I visit twice a week and the text reminders are very helpful, the receptionist are all very nice and remember you. I highly recommend this place not to mention they offer other services as well like Massages, acupuncture, cold plunge and yoga! I will definitely try a massage once I feel able too. read more

First visit and first impression was great with friendly front receptionist. Typical paperwork for a VA referal was a pain. My therapist was Great and her technique exceptional. I only wish I could have gotten a full body, deep tissue massage to get that complete massage that puts you into the zen zone! Can't wait for my next visit and am willing to pay for the extra time to get that head to toe stress relief, don't you know! I love this place!! The entire team is amazing and passionately dedicated to helping you live your best life. They've become my healing O'hana as I have been a loyal customer since moving to Kailua 4 years ago. I suffer with severe lower lumbar problems and at times I'm in excruciating pain. I recently injured my si joint...I can't even begin to describe how awful that feels. I've been through a number of zaps and injections that don't address the underlying cause. My Dr. office recently referred me for a surgery consult...I went to it, but it's not for me. Dr. Ryan has kept on top of all of my treatments and has worked with my entire medical team to ensure I have the best outcome possible. We discuss what works best for me, and what doesn't. My 2 visits were so helpful! I could barely walk the first time I entered their building in Kailua. The massage therapist was so kind and compassionate. She was very careful working with me. Thankfully, I finally got an appointment since my doctor referred me there. It seems like no one there wants to work. I was suffering from old age related pain in my neck...what started as a slight irritation when I slept wrong turned into excruciating pain after a few days. I could barely open my mouth to chew food because my neck muscles hurt so badly. Went to the doctor. They gave me muscle relaxers and sent me on my way. I tried to schedule a massage but canceled it because it was too far for me to drive. At that point I could barely turn my head. The massage therapist recommended I go to a chiropractor ASAP. I had never been, and didn't know until I began looking for one that I actually have chiropractor services covered with my Kaiser insurance. Kailua Wellness answered right away, helped me make sure I was covered, and had an available appointment the next morning. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The waiting area is clean and nice. There was a decent amount of free parking in front. It's in a convenient location in Kailua. Dr. Ryan was super nice, explained everything to me, and made sure I knew what to expect before each step. He used a combo of massage by hand, massage with a machine, heat, and adjustments plus told me what stretches to do before I come back in a few days. When I left, I already had more range of motion. By that evening, I had even more. I could not believe how much less pain I was in just in the same day. In two days, I was almost 100% better and off all the pain medication. I'm a 30 year old male that suffered from chronic pain. All through out my twenties I never stretched and had very bad posture. To go along with that, I was in the construction industry that required me to be in a lot of awkward positions and mostly lifting heavy weight for long periods of time. In July 2022 I was getting out of bed to use the bathroom and I felt a pop in my lower back with a tightening pull that was excruciating. I went almost a full year without trying to even help myself, and at the time I didn't have health insurance. I was hunchbacked, couldn't fully stand up right and had sciatica shooting down the right side of my leg. I was confused and miserable thinking this was something that would eventually go away on its own. As time went on, so did the pain. I knew I was in deep water. I finally got insured and went on the internet to find somewhere that a back retraction device that was available to use. Kailua wellness center was one of the only places on Oahu, besides Straub, that offered it. Eagerly wanting to just go on the machine, I scheduled the appointment for the consultation. Dr. Tyler Ryan ended up being the man who would be put into my life to help me with this new journey. I was 235 lbs when I was first started receiving care and didn't plan on doing anything about it. One day Dr. Ryan looked at me and said " you need to start doing something for yourself as well, I'm only here to help with what I can, you need to help yourself." I was given a look of disappoint and concern all at the same time. Dr. Ryan broke down specific stretches and workouts to implement into my daily lifestyle. January 2024 I'm down to 165 lbs lean and HEALTHY. Throughout my journey I noticed that because I was putting in the work to help myself, Dr. Ryan's care and adjustments to my body were now able to go into FULL EFFECT. Not only did he help me with my body but with my spirit and mind. I'm a new man today tearing up as I'm typing because the pain I once thought I would be stuck with has now subsided. I'm able to hold my kids and not be insecure with pain. In the community I smile knowing I'm making a difference when someone is asking me questions about health. I'm a new man! The body is amazing if you give it a chance to heal properly. Dieting, exercise, along with receiving care from Dr. Ryan became the winning factor in my life. I don't mind the drive from Aiea to Kailua. I get satisfaction from just being in the company of Dr. Ryan because I never thought i would see him as a close friend. Our relationship extends past health where I'm able to open up about life and receive genuine love back. My review is a little long over due. Our family took a trip to Hawaii last week and our plane ride was a little bit painful and uncomfortable, so we did a little research and came across Kailua Wellness Center. Upon arrival, we got there right at opening time. We did not call ahead so we literally just showed up. Dr.Ryan greeted us in. Very welcoming! Although, we did need to schedule an appointment, Dr. Ryan managed to get all 4 of us in and take care of us in between his appointments and that was so very nice of him. Teresa at the reception desk, she was so kind and friendly. She talked to us through out the waiting period and told us all about the places that Hawaii has to offer. Being our first time, we were so grateful to have a local guide us through this experience. I just want to let Teresa know that we did go to some of the places she recommend it and we were so happy to have had her give us the list of things we could do while in Hawaiii! We did go an jump off the cliff lol. Dr. Ryan is amazing! Being my first time, I was a little nervous but he was gentle and careful and explained to me each step. At the end, we felt relaxed and back to our selves. I decided to try acupuncture and massage therapy for my ongoing mid back pain. I searched on Yelp and found Kailua Wellness Center and decided to try it out since they have such great reviews. I tried acupuncture on a Monday and decided to try the massage therapy that same week on Thursday. The staff are very friendly and the business is welcoming and clean. Acupuncture went well, except she did forget to remove the needle on the back of my neck, so I had to remind her. The massage therapy was done by a different staff member. This was only my 3rd time trying a massage (different places in Kailua) so I kept an open mind knowing everyone has their own style. She was very pleasant and did tell me to let her know if I needed less pressure or modifications. Though it was not very comfortable since I was not used to so much pressure, I wanted to try it in hopes it would help with my back pain. I did tell her to modify the pressure on my problem area on my back which she did. I have never had someone manipulate my legs and knees like she did, but I figured she was the professional and she knew what she was doing. It was uncomfortable, but not painful. I left the business without any problems, but noticed ongoing pain in my right knee the following day and it worsened as the days went on. It was to the point on saturday evening that I couldn't walk without pain. I had to close my business the next day (sunday) because of the pain and ended up going to Urgent Care. The doctor said that the knee pain was due to the massage therapist stretching my knee too far that it sprained my ligament. My physcial therapist told me it might be weeks before I fully recover. I'm currently limping when I walk and have to take the stairs one at a time with pain. This is a learning experience for me. I just wanted to let others know and to be proactive when things don't feel right. I called the business to let them know what happened and to cancel my acupuncture appointment. They were very nice and apologetic. read more
