This was one of the most disappointing dive experiences I've ever had. We are relatively new divers and booked this trip looking for a fun, safe, and well-guided experience. What we got instead was poor dive management and a complete lack of professionalism. During the dive, I ran out of air, which is a serious and dangerous situation in scuba diving. The response from the guide was dismissive and poorly handled, which only made the situation worse. The most frustrating part of the entire experience was dealing with Gabe, the owner. He had absolutely no patience and was openly unprofessional, not just with us but in the way he interacted with others as well. There was no concern for how unsafe the situation was, no accountability, and no attempt to make things right. For an activity where safety, trust, and professionalism are critical, this operation fell short on every level. We paid nearly $700 and walked away feeling stressed, unsafe, and completely disappointed. I would strongly caution newer or less experienced divers before booking here. This is not the kind of environment where you feel supported or safe. read more

I started bugging Gabe a few months before my trip out to Oahu to make sure I had everything set up before I got out there. The whole process was seamless, Gabe was so responsive and so nice answering all of my annoying questions. Once I got to the island and got on the boat - immediately was welcomed in with open arms and made some friends too! I knew I wanted to do some scuba diving while in Hawaii this time, and it was easy to pick Kaimana after reading all their positive reviews. Loves: + Easy to book bc it's done over text, and easy to get questions across quicker + My scuba instructor Danny was incredibly patient and kind with me, given that I have not gone diving in years. If he is any indication of their team then you are in good hands :) + Dive groups are small. We had two on ours and one group was two and ours was four + Got to see lots of fish and even three turtles (!!!) + Snacks and juices onboard the boat + Felt like a good deal for a smidge less than $200 for two dives and all the rental gear + One guy was doing his advanced certification, so they do those too! Fantastic 2 tank advanced dive with Joshua! He spotted all the critters (octopi, spotted eagle rays, nudibranchs, shrimp, dwarf moray, and more) and made sure the group saw them all. Joshua gave a detailed dive briefing and reviewed all the safety aspects. He was buttoned up and super fun. Phenomenal experience. I dove two days with Kaimana. The first day was with Dan and the second with Gabe, the owner. What's great about Kaimana is that the dive groups are small - never more than six people. Both Dan and Gabe are fun, funny, kind, warm and very generous. They didn't just act as divemasters, managing and leading the dives, but were actively involved and interested in making me a better diver, in a way that was kind, engaged and enthusiastic. I'm a relatively new diver and buddied with a very skilled, advanced diver - both of us had fulfilling dives. I just got scuba certified at Kaimana Wednesday and wow, what a great company to do this with. Gabe was super helpful in getting the materials to me well before my trip, and my instructor Joshua was amazing. He really is a gifted teacher. So patient, with a very calming demeanor but he makes it super fun. He took so much time and care and you can tell it's because he is passionate about scuba diving and helping others enjoy this sport safely. Bonus: he's amazing at finding octopi so we got to see 4! Dove three times with Kaimana September 2024. What a great outfit. Dive Instructer Berklee knows her stuff. I never felt safer. Small boat with a great captain - Moose. She set-up all our gear! I just threw it on my back and dove in. Berklee took us to six dive sites - all different on three separate days. Saw tons of turtles, eels, rays and of course, fishes of all colors. Coral was beautiful. The deep dive to the shipwreck has an all time great event - got to swim through a boat! Ask for Berklee! read more

Prices are good and from the staff that I've met, everybody is very nice. I had one my dives canceled because of bad weather, but I wasn't charged and was later given a call about a booking that just opened. Highly recommend this team! Gabe had great communication prior to the dive. I am a solo female traveler and I booked the intro dive and had Danny as my instructor. He was so great! Unfortunately, I ended up getting very sea sick and I attempted to dive but I got too panicked and wasn't able to. However, during all of that, Danny was patient and motivating! He really encouraged me and believed in me, was calm, and helpful, and it made me feel safe but unfortunately couldn't get the pressure in my ears or breathing settled. I still was able to enjoy swimming on the surface and Danny still made it a memorable experience! He really knows his stuff and very passionate about it. DMs are all solid (shout out to Greg and Avalon), Gabe is always super quick to respond when trying to get a last minute dive in, and captain Terry is always a pleasure. He is super fun but absolutely serious about this incredible sport since your life or death are at stake. I'm so happy I did, and truly grateful for this experience and getting to have Josh as my instructor. I previously wrote a 5-star review of Kaimana Divers back in January 2019 when we were newly certified divers. Now almost three years later we had the opportunity to dive with them again and, if anything, Gabe and his crew are even better (come on, Yelp, where is the 6-star review?) We dove the afternoon shallow two-tank reef on Saturday with Alex and the morning wreck/reef two-tank dive on Sunday with Gabe. Alex did a wonderful job pointing out critters on the reef including some big-eyed squid swimming out the open, a spotted eagle ray, and a white-tip reef shark dozing under a ledge on the reef. The dive on Sunday with Gabe was amazing -- his experience on the sites was very evident. Best of all, even as fairly experienced divers (150 and 250 dives in all kinds of conditions for my wife and me respectively,) Gabe was able to give us some great tips and tweaks to help us improve our diving. Gabe and his team were also obviously intent on making sure we had the best diving experience possible in every aspect of the trip. We can't recommend them highly enough. read more

I had the most wonderful experience doing my PADI intro course at Kaimana Dive. I did the online portion prior to my in person course, which I did as 3 consecutive days. The first day was the quizzes & test, familiarizing with equipment, and the confined dive in a lagoon... I'm very glad it was there instead of a pool like I know many of my padi friends had to do. Our dives in the ocean where we did the skills the next two days were so very beautiful, I feel so lucky to have gotten to see so many cool things while doing my certification. We saw many colorful fish that I cannot name, turtles, a sleeping reef shark, and an Eagle ray-- all so stunning. All of the workers I met at Kaimana dive are incredibly helpful and friendly. Gabe was very accommodating in making sure I was able to finish my certification before I left. As a woman diving solo (who's newer to scuba diving), I was initially a bit nervous as this was my first diving experience outside of an organized trip. But I ended up having an incredible experience with Kaimana Divers and couldn't recommend them more! I dove for three days to get my Advanced Open Water certification, and Greg's excellent instruction helped me complete the required dives while also seeing TONS of turtles, eels, reef sharks, harlequin shrimp, and fish. We even saw a monk seal and a pod of dolphins from the boat while heading out to dive sites! While the marine life was obviously incredible, I was able to relax and enjoy the experience due to Gabe and his team's professionalism. From Gabe's responsiveness to scheduling the dives to Greg's patient instruction, I felt comfortable and excited, even when it was my first time deep diving. I also really appreciated the smaller group size, especially as the other divers were very experienced. I can't wait to dive in Oahu again with them!
