It'd been 10+ years since I last went diving, so I was a bit apprehensive, but Devin's review of the gear and diving techniques helped to ease my nerves. The dive was wonderful! 10x better than the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific. The biodiversity was incredible - there had to be over 100 types of fish, a couple of small eels (safe distance away), and a turtle. Even the "tougher" parts of diving that I remember were made easy with Devin's pointers and patience. WILL GHOST YOU AND NEVER ISSUE A REAL PADI CERTIFICATION! AVOID THIS COMPANY! Update to my initial review, which, initially positive, is below. DO NOT choose this dive shop if you are seeking an official PADI certification. I signed up for the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Certification and my friend signed up to do her Open Water Certification. Devin told me that they use a hardcopy of the eLearning. He conveniently could not email it to me because "the file was too big," then conveniently "forgot" to airdrop it to me. Everything seemed reasonable during my dives. I demonstrated all the advanced skills, and Devin told me I had passed. When I asked when PADI would issue my certification, he assured me they would do so via email and to text him all of my relevant information and a photo. No email ever came, and my PADI account still reflects me as only an Open Water Diver. I texted Devin multiple times with no response and sent multiple emails. No response whatsoever. My friend (who did her "open water certification" with Banzai Divers) and one of the other girls who also was trying to do her open water certification had the same thing happen. I also went on the PADI website and realized that, even though Banzai Divers advertises that it is a PADI partner and even lists PADI certification courses, it is not even a dive shop listed on the PADI site. I feel very stupid, since we were considering another shop that IS an official PADI dove shop. Do your homework I guess...but Banzai Divers and Devin purposely misled me, then ghosted. I do plan on reporting this to both PADI (Banzai Divers uses their trademarks on its site and falsely advertises PADI courses) and the Oahu Department of Consumer Affairs, but I especially wanted to warn other divers so that they do not fall for the scam. ORIGINAL REVIEW (with edits): Did my Advanced Open Water Diver certification with Banzai Divers (BUT NEVER RECEIVED THE CERTIFICATION). The crew on the boat were awesome and so helpful and Devin the Dive Instructor was amazing (EXCEPT FOR GHOSTING US ABOUT OUR CERTIFICATIONS) He is particularly adept at spotting the octopuses hiding in their little caves. He made the AOW process very smooth and easy, explaining underwater navigation and using the dive computer and compass to monitor the deep dive (LEARNED THE SKILLS BUT WILL HAVE TO PAY TO REDO THE CERTIFICATION INSTEAD OF MOVING ON TO RESCUE DIVER). Just completed a dive with Devon and it was fantastic! The only negative had to do with a pair of divers in our group that included an older woman who had a panic attack (hadn't gone diving in 20+ years) and kept swimming into my son and I throughout the dive. Her friend wasn't much better...kicking corral and sand throughout the lava tube dive which affected those of us behind her. At the time of booking I wasn't aware that the booking was for a group. So a little disappointing on that end. I'm sure it's difficult to assess every diver over the phone but it's a bummer that one sloppy diver can affect one's experience so much. Apart from that, Devon was very focused on delivering a great experience and we still had a great time. He worked very hard at making the equipment process as smooth and quick as possible and his leadership out in the ocean was phenomenal. I'd recommend him to anyone. read more

We've recently moved to Oahu, and my husband finished his certification with Banzai and he was thrilled with the attention and detail Devin took to make sure he understood the ins and out in the water. Devin was a pleasure dealing with! Super flexible and easy to work with and fair priced. For the holiday weekend my parents came to visit , and wanted to go on a few dives. We had a variety of comfort levels in our group. My mom was super nervous and this trip we went with Adam and he was great at helping her gain her confidence back as it was some time since she's dove. My only complaint would be the boat situation. There were 3-4 groups of different dive masters making the experience a little hectic. Adam worked his tail off getting the equipment on and off the boat and accomodated everyone in the group as mentioned earlier. I would give this business a five star review if they would have bothered to respond to me. While the dives were (mostly) great, I have been ignored for MONTHS when asking for the pictures from our dive. It was a very special mother-daughter trip, and my daughter's first two dives being fully certified. She is so incredibly disappointed that she hasn't been able to see the pictures that were promised to us as part of the dive package. I even offered to go through extra pictures just to find ours, after pretty much begging the owner, but I've been completely ghosted. My family and I went to Oahu last October and, as fairly new divers, we wanted to experience Oahu's amazing dive sites. Devin is both a world class dive guide as well as easy to work with. My husband is a Dive Master with almost 50 yrs of dive experience and I've got 20 yrs experience. Even though hubby dives & spear fishes all over California, we've dove all over the world. Palau, Fiji, Chuuk, Florida, Cabo, Cozumel, Bonaire, Oahu, Kauai, the big Island, the Caymens, WWII ship wrecks, cave dives, tunnels, etc. I'm the warm water girl. Our dive on Monday got washed out due to a ton of rain so we were able to do our make up dive Wednesday with Devin and had a fabulous time, even though I had trouble with my R ear. If you're thinking of doing this dive on your own, book this. Devin knew the easiest and safest way to get down to the water. He knew where all the eels were, the big puffer, the sleeping turtles wedged into the rocks, small reef shark, octopus, large angel fish, etc. I even saw the biggest scorpion fish I've ever seen in my life!! While in Oahu, my parents surprised me with a "no experience-refresher dive" at sharks cove. While they are experienced divers, I had yet to ever dive. After booking, I was sent an email to sign an electronic liability form and instructions on where to meet our guide Devin. Me and my kid brother who turned 18 that day met with Devin in the parking lot where we got our gear and he went over basic safety, the gear, and the basics of diving. We suited up and headed down to the water where we regrouped in the water, went over skills then began our dive. As someone with no dive experience, this was an amazing experience. Devin was so helpful and made sure we all felt safe and comfortable. Our dive lasted An hour and fifteen minutes, maybe even a bit longer? Sharks cove was an awesome location as we saw a sea turtle swim within a foot of us, octopus, so many different fish, sea slugs, coral, and much more. Can't wait to see the photos in a few days!!! I had an epic diving day with Devin at Shark Cove! I am chronically early and Devin was there well before I was setting up and getting everything ready for us. He was super friendly and patient. I got certified when I was 18, I am 44 now, and since then I have been diving only a few times 6 years ago in Monterey, CA. Almost everyone else in my group was either newly certified or limited experience. Devin made sure we were empowered with the confidence to have a safe and fun dive. The directions given were spot on. The fact that he has a huge red van made it really easy. The equipment was in good working order and he provided everything I needed. The guidance through the cove was fantastic! You could probably rent all you gear for a little less than paying Devin but you will miss out on all of his experience. We saw several turtles, tons of fish, several eels, a few octopuses, and even a ray. I would have missed most of that if Devin wasn't there to point it out. If you are a new or inexperienced diver and are thinking of diving in Hawaii, DO IT! Banzai will make it easy and the warm waters and plentiful wildlife will make it the best experience you will have. read more

He helped my 2 kids complete their PADI certification dives and took us on a myriad of beautiful dives around lava tubes off the northwest coast of Oahu. Never received my pictures for my dive after multiple attempts of reaching out. And I paid for a dive we didn't even do.

We scheduled a refresher dive for my wife and I and an intro dive for our daughter. We hadn't dove in about 10 years but Devin was awesome in helping us get back in the groove.
