These facilities are definitely more worn down than the other Kaiser locations. The stairs in the parking garage are wet and gross, either people pee on them or they spill drinks. The inside looks outdated as well. I had to go to this location because it was the only hospital location open on weekends. There's two labs, one for blood/urine labs and one for x-ray, make sure you go to the right one. There is a receptionist who can let you know where to go, chances are for blood work you head down to the basement level. The pharmacy seems like a mess? There's not that much seating and there's usually a long line. Overall it's a functional facility but not the most clean or modern. read more

This feedback is for Nurse Andrea - head nurse for Dr Sattar. Dr Sattar has been amazing, but his head nurse - Nurse Andrea - was the worse person I've had to deal with, and even after my dad's passing, she's doing something very vile. After my dad's passing, I wrote a thank you note to Dr Sattar. I've also attached a message explaining to him that Dr Sattar's nurse - Nurse Andrea - needs to show more empahty. Dr Sattar responded via my dad's kp org message portal thanking me back, but didn't respond at all about the 2nd message. I asked today at 9am asking if he received my feedback on Nurse Andrea and to respond back to me. However, at 10am, I've noticed that my dad's kp org account was terminated. Thankful to have been seen in the ER almost immediately as a pregnant woman with a small scare. However the cleanliness of this side of the hospital was repulsive. The bathroom was unkept, the rooms felt grimey with no disposable sheet on the bed, scuffy doors and floors. ER parking is very limited so since I drove myself I had to park in the main garage and walk all the way across the hospital campus in extreme discomfort. Hands-down, I had the best experience at this hospital: upon checking in, I must've sat down for maybe five minutes and was seen right away. They understood the level of urgency my infection needed. First, they asked me how old I was, thinking that I was under age, which was a huge compliment because I'm actually 30 years old. She understood after asking that I did not need a parent once I told her my age. Lo and behold I was seen by Dr. Staffaroni who immensely provided top-tier care. This doctor was very personable, informative, thorough, and genuinely caring. In the small amount of time that I was with him during the operation, he got to know a little bit about myself inquiring as well as sharing a bit about himself. I appreciated the level of care I was given and he even gave me a fist bump before being discharged. This doctor was very humble and down to earth. Now, as for my nurse Madalena, she too was a pure gem. Her alone I can say similar things as I said about the doctor, however she did go out of her way to walk me outside of the hospital emergency room doors to point and direct and guide me to where I needed to go for the discharge pharmacy as I had not one clue on where to go. She was super thorough in the discharge instructions and provided the ample time I needed to ask questions and fully understand what I needed to do post operation. I absolutely have never had such a great experience visiting the emergency room ever before. I will definitely be placing Kaiser Permanente - Walnut Creek as my number one hospital to visit in case of an emergency or anything else. 10/10 recommend ! read more

Got this flu for a week not improving so I checked myself to WC Kaiser ER this morning. I thought I was in a wrong place. Walked in to a tight security like TSA, in a Hospital ER? Then registered, I felt like I'm in a police station. Not welcoming at all, and I was feeling very sick. Told to sit any where, 3 security guards watching. Once called in, yes, doctors and nurses were nice. I was well taken care of. Then I was ushered to a larger room told to wait. Then I saw a stingy little sign saying Results, waiting room. There were only a few very uncomfortable Non matching chairs. Mind you, the patients there are all very sick, can you at least serve us with decent comfortable seats? Just realized I was given a card stating the length of time for different services. Ok 3 hours for me, running a fever sitting in an awful chair for 3 hours. I'm on Medicare, someone came with a laptop collecting fees, I'm covered but co pay is $140, the staff told me some needs to pay over $500! FYI, please take a water bottle with you, no water being served not even a dispenser. Kaiser, please please please improve! Or maybe you don't care. I don't want to die in this hospital! read more

I had a very abusive experience in the Walnut Creek Emergency Room last April of 2025. Dr. Yuan Ross was beyond abusive to me and treated me as less than human. I had gone to the ER after a suicide attempt because I was genuinely reaching out for help, hoping I could find a solution. I had been severely depressed following a work related injury to my bilateral wrists/ hands and felt more depressed directly after my Carpal tunnel release surgery, due to the fact that these factors had left me disabled, in chronic pain, and in financial struggles. All Kaiser did was force me into an inpatient psychiatric facility without providing me with real mental health support for my emotional well being. Dr. Yuan Ross told me that I needed to take my bandaid splint off from my carpal tunnel surgery in order to go to an inpatient psychiatric facility. I had received specific instructions from my workers comp surgeon to not remove that dressing, and when I explained this to Dr Ross she screamed at me and said " THEN WHYD YOU TRY TO KILL YOURSELF, WHYD YOU TRY TO KILL YOURSELF." She made the most vile judgemental and rude facial expressions and started laughing at me to the other staff. I found this all to be very offensive. People only attempt suicide when they are at their breaking point with emotional pain and feel so incredibly low, and to be treated in that manner by an ER doctor who was supposed to help me was outrageous. I understand that psychiatric facilities need to follow certain protocol regarding whats allowed vs whats not, but Dr Ross was way out of line to speak that way to a patient who had just attempted suicide. These doctors need to understand that they are the ones who are in the position of power over the patients and that they need to remain professional. To be shouted at, mocked, taunted for being so depressed to the point that you attempted suicide was very unethical. A patient in this situation should at the very least received proper empathy, care, and understanding. Not be shouted at and abused for struggling. Depression and suicide is a serious mental health crisis. Too much of these kinds of provider malpractices go on and unfortunately Kaiser does nothing to stop them. I am sure that this provider fully got away with her offenses and continues to treat patients in the abusive manner in which she treated me when I was genuinely at my lowest point. I am also sure that not all staff here are like this, but I feel that Drs such as Yuan Ross and the ones who treat patients in the manner in which she did need to be held accountable. Kaiser has a history of lacking proper mental health care services. It is bad enough that they do not have proper resources, but to make patients feel worse on top of struggling and to abuse them further is a whole new standard of low. After this incident I had to pay out of pocket for my own counseling services as I knew Kaiser would be of no help. read more

For those who have knowledge of the medical field, you know this is 3rd world medicine in a 1st world country. Don't be deceived. Medical care at Kaiser is sub-standard. This results in patients dying and they never know that they didn't get basic tests. This is nothing more than a state-sanctioned and approved insurance company who employees are the providers. Where will the allegiance be? To the patients as the hippocratic oath dictates and they promised or to their employer who forbids them from ordering medical tests the patients need? They treat their employees well (buy their allegiance) but not so for the patients. Provider pay is commiserate with the number of labs, tests, procedures not ordered and not done. Bonuses are paid to providers who have the least amount of tests ordered despite them being medically indicated. If you are over 60, write yourself off. Your life is not worth it. If you are sick with a serious disease, they will wait until you are too sick to treat resulting in death. This keeps costs down and eliminates the biggest users of their resources. Run, don't walk if your company wants you to have Kaiser as your healthcare plan, healthcare provided, healthcare pharmacy, healthcare laboratory. Remember nothing is free - healthcare is not an exception. Kaiser is cheap for a reason. read more

Currently here with my partner who has had chest pains for several days. I stupidly recommended us coming to this Kaiser -big mistake!! The lack of concern and urgency is shocking. We have been waiting for over two and a half hours to see a doctor and are currently waiting in the triage in a crowded hallway listening to patients scream and cry for food/water and basic care. How is it possible in such a rich city and by such a huge corporation as Kaiser that there is clearly no staff here, no ability to take care of patients in an ethical and timely matter and total lack of empathy and compassion. My wife looks brown. Would not pass a brown paper bag test. The intake person took our Kaiser number and address with our native speaking English. The Caucasian bearded nurse (or medical assistant) that took vitals four feet away asked if we needed a translator. I hate leaving bad reviews, but I had a pretty horrible experience at this hospital. I came to the ER with severe and unwavering abdominal pain. I was in evident distress, crying and writhing in pain. I was taken back to be seen behind literally every other patient in the waiting room, all with more minor concerns, which didn't bother me much; however, when I was finally taken back, I was met by Dr. Reshma Mathews, and I have never had a worse experience with a doctor. She completely ignored the fact that I was in evident distress and pain, wouldn't let me explain why I arrived to the hospital at all, didn't ask for a history, didn't ask me why I came to the hospital, and was EXTREMELY reluctant to provide me with any medications to relieve my pain. I don't know if she made assumptions about me before even talking to me, but I have literally never felt that level of neglect by a doctor before. I had to beg the nursing staff for IV fluids and pain meds after crying in pain for over 4 hours after arriving to the hospital. I have no idea what is wrong with that doctor or what she assumed about me, but it honestly doesn't matter, and that level of dismissiveness makes me worry about her other patients as well, and I question her care. My room also didn't have a call button, so even if I wanted to contact the staff, I couldn't easily do so. I did have a bell I could ring, but my father who is a physician informed me that that is not a ER standard and there is no way for the staff to know where the bell ring is coming from in a loud emergency room. My boyfriend and I had to beg the staff for help and for literally BASIC ER care, which took hours and hours to get help. After Dr. Mathews went home after her shift, I was appointed a new doctor, Dr. Meredith Walden. Dr. Walden explained to me my condition, showed compassion, and gave me recommendations for my care for when I went home, the least a doctor should do. I was so grateful to have Dr. Walden take over, and although my experience with her was short lived, it was wonderful and exactly what I would have expected from Dr. Mathews as well. Even though Dr. Walden was only on my case for 1/20th the time that Dr. Mathews was, she spent more time with me than Dr Mathews, made my concerns feel heard, and demonstrated to me that my care was a priority for her. I am only really giving this review 2 stars because Dr. Walden and a nurse named Barbara saved this ER in my mind. If any of you have the time to research a hospital before you go to this ER (which is unlikely I know), do what you can to avoid Dr. Mathews, as she is unlikely to care about you, your case, or your pain. read more

Some basic COVID-19 rules for the Walnut Creek emergency room. The waiting room is surprisingly small so beware. 1. Once you check in, the staff will ask anybody with you to leave. They won't even let you wait. Although when it is less crowded they are a little more lenient about the rule. I saw this based on two visits. My first visit, this rule was tough when the person I was with had kidney stones and leaving that person alone felt so cruel. The other time they were lenient was past midnight, so the room was empty and while they mentioned the rule, they weren't too strict. 2. The first question they ask you is if you have coronavirus symptoms. And wear a mask, although the patient will often get a new mask, even if the mask they are wearing is brand new. 3. Only one TV. When I was there late night it was Law & Order blaring, not the content I wanted to hear but I didn't have a choice. Overall, emergency rooms are not my favorite place. Don't expect a welcome you would get from a restaurant or a 5* hotel. But they get the job done and seeing how this is such a difficult job, I appreciate that they try their best. read more

Frustrating! Covid precautions aren't strict. Went to check in and heard the lady in front of me being checked in was covid positive yet they still let her stay in the lobby. I work in healthcare and if we have covid positive patient or patient that has covid symptoms aren't allowed to enter the lobby. We room the patient right away to prevent that patient infecting other patients. We have designated rooms for those kind of patients! It's ridiculous that they allow the patient positive to be in the lobby with other patients! Also there's no air filter system around. I don't feel safe going here! Came here for my flu shot. It was my first time visiting and didn't know anything about this location. The parking structure was the most packed I have ever seen (in comparison to the facility I used to go to in Pasadena), yet it wasn't hard to find a spot as people come and go. Asking for directions to where I needed to go was also easily accessible as there were employees standing at certain doorways / sections of the building. They had the immunizations setup inside their cafeteria. Didn't have to wait that long and the whole thing was less than 15-20 minutes. read more

Was asked to go to this damn ER for anxiety by the doctor, waited at ER for 24 hours for a bed as Kaiser felt a 72 hour hold was needed. Was told they were waiting for a bed at Kaiser only to find out (while being wheeled out) the destination was some behavioral mental hospital called San Jose Behavioral Health that has minus star ratings. If you randomly feel like experiencing horror movie in real life, please go to SJBH. If you have children needing mental health help, AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE. What happened next is 'one flew over the cuckoo's nest' hospital scenes. Absolutely vile and unreasonable to live through. Everything we were told by Kaiser ER was the opposite of the truth. Kaiser had no idea where they were sending us to, Kaiser waited for some random bed that became available while telling us to wait for a Kaiser bed. Kaiser caused additional panic to the entire family for 5 days of wrong information/treatment that was as difficult to manage as building a house with sand. We are speaking to family law firms and looking into suing KP and SJBH. Kaiser ER with their condescending staff and wrong information (Sorry for the good doctors here), this experience gave us mental health problems, not take it away. read more

I am single and had been sick since I had Covid in 2020. I had a hard time getting transportation to a procedure and Kaiser uses a safe company called Excel that I used to take me to and from my procedure. I had to be sedated and my driver was on time and even waited while my prescriptions were being filled. Patrick was my driver and he was amazing. If I could give -5 I would. The experience I had from beginning to end was absolutely a disgrace. I walked into this er doubled over with lower abdomen pain and was told to stand in line. In tears from the pain. I waited with maybe 30 other people in the waiting room. An hour or more later I was taken to an exam room with no bed. I was told to sit in the chair and wait. The longer I waited my symptoms worsened. I began to feel numbness in my legs and my feet swelled up. I was in tears from the pain. Witnessed medical professionals walk by my room countless times. As per usual, they laughed and joked together about nonsense. I finally stopped the ER tech if I could please have a bed as my feet started to swell more. He found me a bed that was literally in front of my room just sitting there. I laid down and waited. The Dr. Finally came in. No eye contact no personal care. Just stood in front of the computer and asked me what brought me in. His exam was pathetic. They drew blood and told me they would get me pain meds and do an ultrasound. I was wheeled into the ultrasound waiting room where around 20 other people in pain sat and waited. A nurse came to get me and told me she had pain meds. I have no idea what she gave me-she never told me. She sent me back to the waiting room. My pain was horrible legs still numb and swollen. My anxiety was sky high. I walked out and left when I saw that my ultrasound was a scheduled in 4 hrs. I am appalled at how dirty the er was. Urine on the bathroom floor, gloves on the floor, and shitty bedside manners. I have always had a deep respect for nurses and doctors but today I decided that I would never return to this facility ever again. Maybe it was my shitty insurance plan makes Kaiser treat certain people this way. Or maybe this hospital just sucks. Do better Kaiser. DO BETTER! read more

We checked in, waited and waited and waited, filled out forms 3 times, finally called in to see some quack! This review is for the Women's health/ObGyn dept. This is an easy to find location right off the freeway. Pay attention to the address you're going to - when I check in, the first address it shows is 1515 Newell (?) vs 1425 S Main. This might be to the parking garage. There are signs everywhere pointing you to go through a main entrance of the medical building. - Covid times - when you filter through this entrance the staff check your temp, ask what you're there for and direct you to the correct location. The receptionist at the women's health dept was super friendly and pleasant. She asked for my medical record and when she saw I was fumbling for it she politely asked me to just give her my cell #. She checked me in and asked me to wait in the waiting area. She forgot to let me know which section (A-C) to wait in and after waiting for ~15-20 minutes after my scheduled appointment, I let her know. She immediately apologized and redirected me to the correct area. Sidenote: as i was waiting, another receptionist was not as friendly and seemed to be a bit more on the snappy side with other patients. After waiting another 5 minutes, the MA Cecilia called me in for vitals. She was nice, competent. Dr. Nina Lee came in about 10 minutes later. Probably one of the most personable MDs I've had at Kaiser. I appreciated that she thoroughly reviewed my record prior to seeing me as she references some notes from 2015. She then started after we waited a few minutes for Cecilia to come back in. She calmly explained what she was doing and made me feel comfortable. Afterwards I asked to have bloodwork done, she asked why/what I was looking for specifically. Fair questions as I'm sure they don't want utilize resources unnecessarily. After explaining, she was more than happy to set that up. I would recommend Dr. Lee for anyone's ObGyn. -1 star for: the wait time (I was seen ~20-25 minutes after my scheduled appt time) and for having supplies opened prior to me getting in the room. My preference is to have items opened in front of me but I'm not sure what Kaiser's protocols are on this. Otherwise, Kaiser's facility/set up is pretty efficient and the employees i came in contact with were friendly and professional. read more

So I brought my dad who is in his 80's here because he had blood in his urine. After admitting him one night and seeing three different doctors they all told us different things. One doctor told us he will have a procedure, another doctor came and said he will not have a procedure. One of the doctors stated he has infection, the other doctor stated he has no sign of infection. So confusing, and just inconsistent care. I seriously have never seen anything like this. Mean while my dad continues to have lots of blood in his urine and is getting weaker. When I asked one of the doctors what's going she replied I'm just an ER doctor, I need to talk with the urologist. Meanwhile no urologist came by to even see my dad. I had my baby here and the nurses there asked for my ethnicity and my husbands then looked at my baby as if he wasn't the father. Then one nurse came in just to tell me in a stern way how to hold my child and don't hold him if I'm going to sleep (oh really? this isn't my first baby lady) and some other rude comments but was extremely unprofessional about it. My advice besides going to this emergency room is to just die. They will bill you 6 ways to Sunday under these bullshit made up extra tack on charges. They billed me $280 while I was there (payable while you are in the bed). I was like ok fine I have insurance and I've paid for decades and that's what I owe. The pretend bill said if I didn't have insurance it would be $900. Fine. Then I get an email saying I have a bill. For $880. Payable kinda now. Guess what I learned? The $280, that was for the hospital. Not for what happened IN the hospital. That was for the building! There are separate charges for what they did. That's be like going to McDonald's and charging you for a hamburger and a table and a chair. We all know what it's really for- new buildings, exec salaries, and bonuses to pay for their doctors' educations, as I learned in an email designed to make me feel sorry for them (during the mental health care threatened strike). So in addition to the services, one charge each for $525 because it was a visit for "a very serious problem". How would that add to the services? That's not a lab test, it isn't a shot, it's nothing. That would be Like billing you for a flight to Hawaii, and then ADDING $525 because you're going to Hawaii! And you know I'll be talking to someone who can't do anything about it. They'll just be reading off a script. Update: They want $157 more on the $280 charge- for the hospital again! So $437 for the building, $525 for calling it a special visit, and $300 more for the services. F U Kaiser. read more

Had the worst experience at the ER last night. Waited 5 hours while being severely dehydrated, ugly crying and throwing up in the Kaiser ER bathroom multiple times. And not one nurse asked me if I was okay while all this was happening. They wouldn't even offer me water to try to rehydrate myself. Finally after waiting several hours in pure misery, and I had enough, I asked a nurse if I can have a pillow and she rolled her eyes at me and told me I needed to wear a mask. I told her that I couldn't stop throwing up and I was going to pass out from dehydration. And you know what her response was? She pointed to the bathroom and the barf bags on the wall and told me there were people there that were sicker than me, and that I needed to continue to wait. She reluctantly gave me a pillow and told me to keep sitting in the waiting room. Throwing up, crying, dry heaving and all. 2 hours after that, I told them I can't take it anymore. All I needed was an IV and some nausea medication. They insisted that "that wasn't going to make me feel better". They tried to say no to the iv because they needed someone to "watch" me. RUFKM? But you're ray charles while I'm dry heaving and ugly crying in your waiting room? And I wouldn't take no for an answer and I started a scene in front of a doctor. So they FINALLY gave me an IV. If that doctor wasn't there, they wouldn't have even helped me. While I understand it was a super busy night at the ER, I cannot understand how these nurses have the amount of audacity they do. The lack of compassion from them was shocking. I wasn't asking for the world, or for dangerous narcotic pain meds. All I wanted was a damn IV to rehydrate myself and some nausea medication that I ALREADY had a prescription for. So they gave me the IV (finally) and had me sit in the waiting room for another 2 hours until they gave me a room. The doctor checked on me and said he was going to get me juice to sip on and that never happened. The nurse said she would get me food to see if I can keep anything down. That didn't happen either. I have had much better experiences at the county hospital in Martinez. Which is shocking. Literally don't go to this hospital. They're worse than the DMV. read more
