Came here August 12, 2018 about 3pm. I was greeted by the owner. She looked pretty tired but she was really nice and conversational. It was nice and quiet besides the music. Since it was just her I was the only customer. Her co-worker was off. Fine by me, it made the experience a bit more relaxing. She started taking my old polish off and then scrubbed my feet before soaking them. I thought it was a bit weird but I went with it. As soon as I put my feet in the water to have the scrub rinsed off she wanted one foot to clip the nails. Kinda of weird since it's better to soak and soften the nail and skin a bit. But oh well. ORDERED: - regular pedicure $25.00 - Callous removal $5.00 ------------------------- Total $30 + tip PROS: - I was the only person there - OPI polish wish I liked - decent variety of colors for polish - offer Dead Sea facials while you get your nails done - used recyclable foil instead of plastic bag for callous remover. - foot massage was fantastic for sure. Most salons rub the arch of your foot for 5 min straight, so annoying. - hot towel after massage was a nice touch CONS: - she didn't set me up in my chair (arm rests, turning on massager, didn't offer water or something) - didn't soak my feet before clipping nails and cuticles on one of my feet - so friggin hot in the place. They need to install an AC somewhere - places needs some cleaning up (repaint walls, baseboards, door, pick different paint for walls) - massage chair was okay but I couldn't pick what I wanted so I had to use the multi massage option. BE CAREFUL WITH THIS PLACE I came here for eyelash extensions and eyebrow waxing. Eyelash extensions have increased in price from $120 to $170, but this doesn't matter. About waxing, this isn't my first time here, but this is my first time experiencing this bad feeling. The owner here has been drinking alcohol before serving me. Her wax was left too hot and she didn't blow for cool down before waxing. Maybe it was from working while not sober that she let the wax straighten heat up and burned me badly. When I talked to her to solve this problem, she said because my skin was thin and told me to put on powder and vaseline. No one treated the burn that way and once again this is NOT MY FIRST TIME waxing here . She denied responsibility and did not acknowledge her fault. She said the wound would heal tomorrow, but it wasn't my first time waxing and I knew what it meant to be burned. 4 days have passed and my eyes are still scarred and I am not sure if my eyes are free of scars. She is not responsible or compensating for me at all. She asked me to pay in cash and took a total of $185. She was cruel to cause this incident to me without being responsible and even took a large amount of cash without telling at the beginning. I think people will understand when I say a business only takes cash during this time and is not responsible for its mistake. Be smart when choosing where to give your beliefs. read more

They had no hot water but were still taking appointments ... the massage chairs are broken and the other manacurist literally left and said "sorry I can't do this" because she was fighting with her boyfriend leaving the room after we both sat down for a two pedicure appointment ..not only did we get charged full price but she expected a tip when we were handed change .... honestly there are so many better nail places I can't believe how bad the service and facilities are ... My mom was in town and noticed a small chip in her gel manicure late on a Sunday afternoon. Oh no! What an emergency! So I scrambled to find a place to squeeze us in last minute. I have gone here a few times with my coworker, as the location is conveniently located close to our work. Hanna and Yen are very friendly and they consistently provide good customer service. They take enough time to do a thorough job without keeping you too long. My gel nails lasted a full two weeks, and if it weren't for my nails growing so fast, there would be no need to replace the polish. I'm not careful with my manicures, so that's saying a lot! We love that they use a rewards card after five visits. My gel manicure costs less than $30. I haven't seen a reward card anywhere else, so everything mentioned above keeps us coming back. Amazing! Yelped a place near by for my nails to be done quickly and walked in to a seat!! Offered water or tea and seated within minutes! That makes me happy!! I was able to call today and get a pedicure appointment for 45 minutes later which was great! When I called I asked for someone who would be good with ingrown toenails since I get horrible ones made worse by the fact that I stand all day. Melanie did my pedicure and she was so thorough! I've been looking for someone to go to regularly who "gets it" and after today Melanie will definitely be my new go to! The space itself is a bit meh and I thought I could spot an autoclave in their back area but I didn't see tools being taken out of sealed packages so I am truly hoping they keep it sanitary. I might purchase my own set of tools so I can feel safe and still get the great service I got today. The selection of nail colors was also kind of meh so if you're looking for something really different or trendy, I'd suggest bringing your own polish. read more

I love gel manis, and I am always on a hunt for a perfect nail salon. Well, about 3 weeks ago, I realized that I needed a holiday mani. It was around 5.30 p.m. on a Sunday evening so most local salons were already winding down for the day, but when I called Kaitlyn's, they told me to come in. I got a great gel mani from Kate (sparkly holiday red). In fact, never did I receive so many complements on a mani! Ladies, it was perfect! I was the only customer that evening, and in the midst of my mani someone called and they told her to come in. There was only one nail tech there so I wasn't sure she could accommodate both of us, but she did it, and my mani turned out great. In fact, it's been 3 weeks, and it still looks great. As I was paying for my mani-pedi, this was the conversation I had with the Vietnamese owner (I think she goes by "Melanie"): [she looks at the name on my card] Owner: Are you Chinese? Me: No, I'm Vietnamese. Owner: You have a Chinese last name. Me: I know, but my family is Vietnamese. Owner: Do you speak Vietnamese? Me: No. Owner: How can you not speak Vietnamese? How did you speak with your mother? Me: [starting to get irritated] I spoke English with her. Owner: [not hiding her obvious judgement of me] How did you speak with your father? Me: [annoyed and not sure where her aggression is coming from] I didn't speak with my father. He's dead. Owner: [frowning while giving me a a look of distaste] Your name isn't Vietnamese. You don't speak Vietnamese. You're not Vietnamese. After that I just walked out. My friend who was with me could not believe what she heard and was like "What's her problem? What was that about?" The woman who did my pedicure did a fantastic job. For $25 she spent ample time on each calf and foot with a nice Massage and salt scrub AND a hot rock massage. And maybe it's because it was slow that day, but I got little flowers painted on my nails for free. I can't write a review about a pedicure, since I never actually got one:( I had an appointment at 1:30, waited 35 minutes, then realized that the two ladies were at least 15 minutes away from being finished with other customers before they could even start my pedi. I had to leave since I have a toddler I needed to get home to and have limited free time (don't we all?) The only acknowlegment/apology for the wait was when I got up to go . Not the end of the world, but why offer an appointment when you know you are busy with other customers? It's like a bait and switch tactic because they know once you drive, park, and put your feet in the water, they usually have you hostage. Not going back. read more

Went to Avalon Nails for the first time a couple weeks ago for a pedi. The place has just changed ownership I think and everything is new, very clean, and nicely decorated. The services are reasonably priced and they do waxing besides mani and pedis. The pedi was done while I sat in nice, big, brand new massage chair and was very relaxing. We sat down and she started with me, she cut my nails and my mom said we'd both like to get the ice dancer pedicure. She said ok, but all she did was rub lotion on my feet and paint my nails.
