Took my mother‑in‑law here for her very first pedicure. We called last minute on a Sunday, and they were able to take us right away. We picked a color, sat down, and they got started immediately. The staff were genuinely pleasant, and they did a great job with both of our services. There wasn't a clear menu of options, and a paraffin wax was included by default, which surprised me a bit. The salon itself isn't the "prettiest" I've ever been to, but the service was excellent -- definitely still a 5‑star experience. We'll be back, and I have a feeling my MIL might become a regular. I have been here twice. The first time, they removed gel nail polish for me and that went fine. Today I went in for a toenail polish change and the woman put on a base coat, THREE coats of color (I told her two was enough) and a top coat. They don't use heat and barely use fans, just like the other place I went to that screwed up my pedicure. The woman tried to put on my sandals and tell me I was good to go. I decided to sit in the waiting are to make sure my nails were dry. Well something went wrong because all you have to do is look at the photo. This occurred later in the day, long after my nails should have been totally dry. Also here in Marin I've discovered they don't put oil on your nails after they are dry which they always did in New York and helps keep your shoes from rubbing the polish off. I asked for a square round shape and got exactly what I wanted. The salon is very spacious and clean. Ly gave me a hand massage after as well. After going here for the past 3 years, I don't think I'm going back. I picked a color which the lady said it does not look like the sample. But she said she could make it look like it by mixing the color with another. After she tried it, I said no that looks pink, but she insisted it was not pink. After going to this salon every 2 weeks for almost 4 years, we stopped coming about 7 months ago because my daughter went away to college. Now that she's back for Summer, we decided to get our nails done. We were shocked to see that the salon was u see new ownership as we loved Leigh, Vivian and all the ladies here. The atmosphere has changed and the quality of their work has also. We only saw 2 familiar faces during our visit today. Both of us got gel manicures and regular pedicures. Although the women doing our nails were nice, the workmanship is lacking, to put it nicely. We will not be back here ever again. To pay $160 and have our nails look like we did them ourselves, inconsistent polish coverage that is lumpy / bumpy and as much dry skin on our toes as when we got there.... No thanks. I only go in for mani/pedis once or twice a year as a treat to myself. This is the place I go to after having tried others that ended up too rough or just ok. The staff are still nice. I made the mistake of walking in without an appointment on a Friday. They fit us in anyway. What I love about this place is they have great massage chairs, hot foot baths, wax massage, and real professionalism. For me, I saw nothing that would indicate things are not good under new management. They seem the same to me. I highly recommend!!! read more

This spot is alright, but not what I was hoping for. I used to like it, but it sounds like they have new ownership. They do dip manicures which is pretty rare for Marin, so that's a plus. The apex of the nail (when you look sideways at it) was poorly done, and despite mentioning it several times they weren't able to correct it. The nails dip down in the middle which is a bad look. For $60 you could get significantly better quality in SF. Got these for my bachelorette and was disappointed with shaping :( read more

I was so happy to find the Passion Nail & Spa salon. The owner and employees are very skillful and kind and the salon feels clean and inviting. The pedicure chairs are in good condition - much better than most nail salons. The selection of nail polish and gel nail polish is generous and well-maintained. The prices are very fair and the regular pedicure includes a foot paraffin treatment - I have never found that elsewhere. They are willing to accommodate walk-ins, but it might be better to call ahead. Please plan to tip in cash, as this is their request. Finally - I am ALWAYS pleased with the results. :) read more

Probably the worst customer service I've seen. I went in and asked them do they take walk ins for a gel manicure and was told yes pick a colour. I pick a colour and am then called over to the table. The lady starts to paint my nails but then when I say "am I not supposed to be putting my wet nails into a light not a fan?" She says that this is regular polish. I then explain i asked for gel as I cannot have regular polish in my job (I work with newborns and polish chips and can fall into infants mouths, big no no in my job). The owner sold the business & new owners have raised prices, charge a 3%fee to use ATM or credit card & want tips in cash. they also get appointments mixed up. I bought my daughters a gift certificate for gel manicures 2 weeks before Christmas as a stocking stuffer, one of my daughters went today to redeem it and she was told it wasn't enough and had to pay $15! 3 weeks ago the amount I paid covered a gel manicure and today it doesn't??? it even said GM on the certificate which stands for gel manicure. They have either raised prices AGAIN or just trying to get over. The manis & pedis aren't any better than any of the other shops in the area So why they are charging so much I don't know. I have been going to Passion for many many years, they used to be the best, but now I'll never step foot in the place again. I'm bummed! read more

Made appointment for regular pedicure. It took over two hours to complete everything. I waited once I got there for almost 30 min. The lady who did my toes did not really seem to know what she was doing with gel polish. She kept cutting and cutting at my nails and cuticles for quite some time and kept needing help. She didn't really speak any English which is fine but obviously I could not communicate much to her. She barely scrubbed or massaged my feet or legs and Once she finally started applying the gel she applied too many coats leaving it thick and bumpy and messy around my cuticles. I vary rarely treat myself to a $55 pedicure so it was disappointing to leave there feeling like I could've done a better job myself. read more

Finally found a good place to get a pedicure after moving to Marin. I made an appointment and was seated right away and had an excellent technician who was both friendly and skilled. The massage chairs are very nice and there is a parking garage across the street- pay parking but it's inexpensive. This is definitely the place to go in San Rafael, loved it! read more

4 years later, and I'm still happy with my nails. I've started getting back into getting my nails done more regularly, and I always get my pedi from Van and my gel mani from Vivian. Both ladies are wonderful and great at their craft. I used to hate the way my feet looked, but Van keeps me from looking like an ogre with her great attention to detail. I like my toe nails short and she makes sure to make them short while still giving them a nice, rounded shape. Vivian does a great job with my hands. I have a terrible habit of biting my cuticles but she makes sure I look like a stable human being and cleans them right up. New ownership at the nail salon. Excellent nail care from Annie and Nick; Both nailed it! They were professional and kind; environment clean and peaceful; massage chairs a bonus. Unfortunately, when I checked out, I was told by the owner if I pay with cash for my manicure/pedicure which I did, I would get $10 discount off of $70; however, I was charged $70.00 with no said discount. I witnessed other customers receive the "$10 off" mani/pedi when they paid in cash. When I left the tip for Annie and Nick, (20% each) the owner said, "Is that all you are giving us?" followed up by words in her native language I could not understand. Overall, great nail service; clean and calm environment; however, inconsistent communication and lack of empathy towards customer when paid in cash which was shocking and disappointing.
