Took my mother‑in‑law here for her very first pedicure. We called last minute on a Sunday, and they were able to take us right away. We picked a color, sat down, and they got started immediately. The staff were genuinely pleasant, and they did a great job with both of our services. There wasn't a clear menu of options, and a paraffin wax was included by default, which surprised me a bit. The salon itself isn't the "prettiest" I've ever been to, but the service was excellent -- definitely still a 5‑star experience. We'll be back, and I have a feeling my MIL might become a regular. I have been here twice. The first time, they removed gel nail polish for me and that went fine. Today I went in for a toenail polish change and the woman put on a base coat, THREE coats of color (I told her two was enough) and a top coat. They don't use heat and barely use fans, just like the other place I went to that screwed up my pedicure. The woman tried to put on my sandals and tell me I was good to go. I decided to sit in the waiting are to make sure my nails were dry. Well something went wrong because all you have to do is look at the photo. This occurred later in the day, long after my nails should have been totally dry. Also here in Marin I've discovered they don't put oil on your nails after they are dry which they always did in New York and helps keep your shoes from rubbing the polish off. A complete waste of time and money! Does ANYONE in Marin know how to do nails?? read more

Really nice group of people with great service! The place was clean and the manicure and pedicure I got was so well done, it lasted forever! (not gel!). My hands and feet felt so great after and i was definitely pampered. It was a busy Friday, but I was able to get a same day appointment walking in around noon. I don't go often but I love the massage they give with the pedicures and the massage chairs are the best. I do a very basic mani so I can't really comment on artistic direction but they're very friendly and my nails look great. read more

Got a gel manicure by Ly and Tam (the owner). Was able to make a same day appointment and be seated shortly after arriving. They have a huge variety of colors to choose from, I chose DND 301. I asked for a square round shape and got exactly what I wanted. The salon is very spacious and clean. Ly gave me a hand massage after as well. After going here for the past 3 years, I don't think I'm going back. I picked a color which the lady said it does not look like the sample. But she said she could make it look like it by mixing the color with another. After she tried it, I said no that looks pink, but she insisted it was not pink. I left with pink nails, I had to ask her to stop and not finish the manicure. They still charged me full price for it. read more

Under new ownership unfortunately. Super rushed me to pick a color. Super rushed the entire time, it was over the top bizarre how fast she could work. I felt like I was in a fast forward movie scene. For the increase in prices I expected a lot more. The entire pedicure took maybe 15-20 min! Not relaxing. When she went in to the client after me who was a regular customer she really took her time. After going to this salon every 2 weeks for almost 4 years, we stopped coming about 7 months ago because my daughter went away to college. Now that she's back for Summer, we decided to get our nails done. We were shocked to see that the salon was u see new ownership as we loved Leigh, Vivian and all the ladies here. The atmosphere has changed and the quality of their work has also. We only saw 2 familiar faces during our visit today. Both of us got gel manicures and regular pedicures. Although the women doing our nails were nice, the workmanship is lacking, to put it nicely. We will not be back here ever again. To pay $160 and have our nails look like we did them ourselves, inconsistent polish coverage that is lumpy / bumpy and as much dry skin on our toes as when we got there.... No thanks. I'll save my money or go somewhere else. read more

This spot is alright, but not what I was hoping for. I used to like it, but it sounds like they have new ownership. They do dip manicures which is pretty rare for Marin, so that's a plus. The apex of the nail (when you look sideways at it) was poorly done, and despite mentioning it several times they weren't able to correct it. The nails dip down in the middle which is a bad look. For $60 you could get significantly better quality in SF. Got these for my bachelorette and was disappointed with shaping :( read more

I only go in for mani/pedis once or twice a year as a treat to myself. This is the place I go to after having tried others that ended up too rough or just ok. The staff are still nice. I made the mistake of walking in without an appointment on a Friday. They fit us in anyway. What I love about this place is they have great massage chairs, hot foot baths, wax massage, and real professionalism. For me, I saw nothing that would indicate things are not good under new management. They seem the same to me. I highly recommend!!! read more

I was so happy to find the Passion Nail & Spa salon. The owner and employees are very skillful and kind and the salon feels clean and inviting. The pedicure chairs are in good condition - much better than most nail salons. The selection of nail polish and gel nail polish is generous and well-maintained. The prices are very fair and the regular pedicure includes a foot paraffin treatment - I have never found that elsewhere. They are willing to accommodate walk-ins, but it might be better to call ahead. Please plan to tip in cash, as this is their request. Finally - I am ALWAYS pleased with the results. :) read more

I loved the old Passion Nails! Unfortunately it was sold and I won't be returning. I went in for a basic gel manicure five days ago. The manicurist kept messing up and rubbing the polish off. Some nails ended up with two coats, some with four coats. The polish is already peeling. Waste of money and time. read more

I have been coming here for 6 years for regular mani pedi (not gel or acrylic etc) and while I find the service and treatments to be good, even when I have made an appointment in advance about 1/3 of the time I've had to wait 15-25 mins for treatment to start. This was especially exasperating as today, someone who had made a last minute appointment, was treated before me. This is not a way to run a business. Everyone's time is important. read more

First time in this nail salon. Came in for a pedicure with no polish. The lady was nice but not so thorough with the job. Barely used the buffer on my feet. I was hoping she'll scrub more at the heel area but it didn't happen. Not so thorough with cleaning my toes, I have to point it out. She gave good leg massage though. The only good thing here is the paraffin wax treatment. I am not sure if I'll come back again. read more

Probably the worst customer service I've seen. I went in and asked them do they take walk ins for a gel manicure and was told yes pick a colour. I pick a colour and am then called over to the table. The lady starts to paint my nails but then when I say "am I not supposed to be putting my wet nails into a light not a fan?" She says that this is regular polish. I then explain i asked for gel as I cannot have regular polish in my job (I work with newborns and polish chips and can fall into infants mouths, big no no in my job). She then says she doesn't have time to do it and to come back later? This was my first and very last time going here. The owner sold the business & new owners have raised prices, charge a 3%fee to use ATM or credit card & want tips in cash. they also get appointments mixed up. I bought my daughters a gift certificate for gel manicures 2 weeks before Christmas as a stocking stuffer, one of my daughters went today to redeem it and she was told it wasn't enough and had to pay $15! 3 weeks ago the amount I paid covered a gel manicure and today it doesn't??? it even said GM on the certificate which stands for gel manicure. They have either raised prices AGAIN or just trying to get over. The manis & pedis aren't any better than any of the other shops in the area So why they are charging so much I don't know. I have been going to Passion for many many years, they used to be the best, but now I'll never step foot in the place again. I'm bummed! read more

Made appointment for regular pedicure. It took over two hours to complete everything. I waited once I got there for almost 30 min. The lady who did my toes did not really seem to know what she was doing with gel polish. She kept cutting and cutting at my nails and cuticles for quite some time and kept needing help. She didn't really speak any English which is fine but obviously I could not communicate much to her. She barely scrubbed or massaged my feet or legs and Once she finally started applying the gel she applied too many coats leaving it thick and bumpy and messy around my cuticles. I vary rarely treat myself to a $55 pedicure so it was disappointing to leave there feeling like I could've done a better job myself. read more

I had a terrible experience. The lady doing my nails didn't listen to me and what I wanted. I told her I wanted coffin shape nails multiple times and instead they were chunky square. While filing my nails they cut the skin serval times. I was also overcharged. The acrylics with a simple line design were over 100 dollars. Do not recommend. read more

Finally found a good place to get a pedicure after moving to Marin. I made an appointment and was seated right away and had an excellent technician who was both friendly and skilled. The massage chairs are very nice and there is a parking garage across the street- pay parking but it's inexpensive. This is definitely the place to go in San Rafael, loved it! read more

Thank you sooooo much to Vivian and Lee for being the highlight of our Tuesday night in San Rafael! If you are in the mood to be pampered to the max (or know someone who needs this), be sure and visit these lovely ladies. The 3 of us dropped in, and Vivian and Lee took such good care of us that we didn't want to leave. Atmosphere: perfect - warm, inviting, friendly, relaxing Cleanliness: spectacular Quality: top of the top! Best pedi I've had in a long long time, and the wax treatment (which was included, by the way) was out of this world. And if it's time for a bikini wax, there's nowhere else to go - Lee is the queen of the pain-free. Trust me on this. Tammy, the owner, is who I ordinarily receive services from; at the few times she was not available, I was able to experience other nail technicians who have been with Tammy -- wow! they are all great! I drive from Rancho Murieta to San Anselmo, been doing this for 5 years+. The gentleness, the massage and scented lotions, the perfection to details of a job well done is what they do. Lovely Ladies. I came in for a simple pedi and mani today. Which you get $5 off the total when you do both. $35 for both can't beat that price with the excellent service the owner Lee gave. She honestly is the sweetest owner I have met at a nail salon. She took very good care of me as I sat in the massage chair. Hands down best salon I've been too in San Rafael. It's so clean and welcoming in there and Lee will chit chat and make you feel right at home so you can relax. I WILL BE COMING BACK AS A REGULAR FOR SURE!! read more

I had a pink and white acrylic set with gel and owner did the best ...very professional. Also had a pedicure and it is very hygienic with liners in each spa chair, which was the best spa chair...very good massage from this chair. A must try!!!! I will be back! read more

The receptionist was warm, spoke English clearly, and the overall vibe felt more professional and welcoming than some other salons in Marin. They take both cash and Apple Pay, which I appreciated. The appointment itself was fast--almost surprisingly so. I got a very basic acrylic set done in about 40 minutes, whereas this usually takes closer to an hour to an hour and a half. That's both a pro and a con. If you're in a rush and just need something done, this place is efficient. That said, the technician was pretty persistent about upselling (gel, rhinestones, chrome, etc.), and when I declined and asked for something very simple, she seemed a bit irritated. There were also some confusing add-on charges (like an extra fee just for shaping, and then another for polish), which weren't clearly reflected on the sign. In the end, though, the total was still less than what I usually pay at Nails #1, which often creeps up to around $80 after add-ons--so price-wise, this was reasonable. As for the final result: the nails look okay. Not bad, but not super polished either. You can tell they were done quickly--each nail looks slightly different, and the overall finish isn't as refined as what you'd get from a longer, more detailed appointment. It felt more like efficiency over craftsmanship. I did like that I could take a phone call without bothering anyone, and the ambience was calm despite how busy it was. Would I go back? Maybe--if I'm short on time and just need my hands done quickly. But if I want a more meticulous, pampering experience where extra care is taken, I'd probably look elsewhere.

I told her she didn't have to rush but she skipped removing all of my old polish (which showed through the new), only did one coat and didn't do any cleanup of overpaints all while reminding me multiple times that the price was still $40 as if I was going to stiff her on her tip. I had been a longtime client and always tipped 20% even while skipping the massage. When paying I asked the owner why only one coat and she said because I said I was meeting someone. The nail tech said - you want a second coat? Sit. She rushed through it with no cleanup a 2nd time. There are better places out there. I am currently enjoying a mani pedi a new salon.
