Tried this food truck for the first time at the What the Truck in Waikele. They are only at the waikele event on the first Fridays. We ordered the Cajun garlic butter shrimp and the lemon beurre blanc ahi. Both plates were really tasty! Fresh ahi, and the shrimp was cleaned. Plates came with potato mac salad and rice. The owner was very friendly as well! They sold out of the bao buns early otherwise we would've tried those too. Those looked delicious. We'll definitely be back! read more

We had Bobby cater our wedding in November and the food was such a hit! We would recommend them over and over again! Our experience with Bobby started with private a tasting in their lounge of a few of the things we were hoping to have on our menu. We tried two mains, a salad and a few sides... when I say everything was a smash it, i really mean it! Our package included a third main and we honestly told him he could pick what to bring because obviously he knows how to cook- it'd be impossible to choose! For our wedding we had the kalbi shortribs, garlic shrimp, and huli huli chicken for our mains. Our salad was the one with the warm bacon dressing (OMG DELICIOUS), and we also had truffle mashed potatoes, a ratatouille, rice and i think 3 appetizers. It was ALL so good. Our guests have been raving about it since. Not only was the food to die for, but also the service before and during the wedding too! we had a few dietary restrictions to accommodate and Bobby was so easy to work with and already had ideas ready to go. Then there's the wait staff - who brought my husband and I full plates of everything first, before anyone else. So many people say they don't get to eat at their own weddings and they made sure that DIDNT happen to us. I was still so anxious that I didn't clear my plate but everything i DID eat was just as good as the tasting. The staff stayed and helped my coordinator for the rest of the night as well. After dinner they boxed up all the leftover food for us to take home and I was so happy for that! Since I didn't eat a ton at my own wedding I got to house all of the leftovers with our families. BRUH....!!!! This guy can COOK!! I make fried noodles but his fried noodles is my favorite one in the whole wide world. Of course his other foods are great but I don't cook the dishes he makes which is why I'm pointing out the fried noodles. I love that this man is personable and you can really tell the love and passion that goes into his dishes. Rob is such a respectable man and very friendly. I've always wanted to try this food truck food every time I seen them at swap meet. But this time I got to try them at a kapolei event. I gotta say they packed my plate well. Despite the price, I think it's reasonable. The wait wasn't that bad either even though they did have a medium sized line. The orders went by quick. Not a great picture; I know but this is what I have to work with. I gotta say this is another great place that makes good Korean Chicken. I think even better than zippys for me. The skin had a great crunch while the meat on the inside had this really tender flavorful taste. I will definitely be coming back for more. read more

Yum! Grabbed a quick bite from their food truck during Black Friday at Pearlridge mall. The entire menu sounded pretty good, but I settled on the bulgogi bao buns. 3 for $12. Delicious!! I saw this food truck at the Aloha Stadium swap meet and I am very happy I came here for my lunch! I got the Cajun garlic shrimp and oh my gosh... when I say this shrimp was probably the best I had during our trip I am not kidding. The flavor in the sauce was just amazing and I added tots to mine as well. They load your plate with food too and the shrimp they use isn't some skimpy little thing these are very good size! We came back a second time too when we had to revisit the swap meet and again it was just as good! Both times the folks in the truck were super nice and seemed to love what they were doing! They got the food out really quick both times even though they were slammed both times I came here. If you pass this truck at the swap meet or anywhere I'd definitely say come here! read more

When lockdown started, Kalama's Kuisine provided lunch and delivery service to us poor government workers. This was important as people were very sketched out to leave their offices for lunch. There are three lunch options every Wednesday through Friday at a good price point (no more than $10). But it's not just lunches, he also does catering! Or is it Katering!?! Ordered food for my mom's 70th birthday celebration. She really loves crab so did a crab boil, but to her tasting. She doesn't care for the usual seasonings and he prepared all the crab to her specifications, which is just water. (She's a purist.) But he did make the regular boil items (crawfish, potato, corn, shrimp, etc) with the seasonings and that was great! He also provided clarified butter if anyone wanted to dip their crab in. It was so good. My mom ate most of the crab herself. To make it authentic there was cornbread. I requested kim chi mac n cheese. That stuff is awesome! The kim chi gives the mac n cheese an awesome crunch and kick. Don't worry, not too spicy! His specialty is more Southern style of food, but he can pretty much make anything. I've gone to a couple events he catered at. He appears to have adequate staff and the food is good. I hope I can have an event after lockdowns are lifted so I can have him cater. I hired Bobby as a private chef for my 40th birthday celebration with friends and family. My expectations were met and exceeded big time. Bobby is such a kind and genuine person and from our first phone call I knew Bobby was the right chef. Great communication, he came up with an amazing menu that blew everyone away. I wanted a causal, fine dining experience and he delivered with a 5 course tapas style menu. He provided bento boxes for the kids the private chef night, fruit platter for breakfast the next morning and later in the week a buffet family style dinner. Came across this food truck at the Aloha Stadium Swap meet. Asked was the cashiers favorite thing on the menu and he said the Korean fried chicken. Indeed, it was definitely Yummy Korean fried chicken! Think orange chicken, but better. And whole pieces of chicken skin deep fried with a tangy sweet bite! I would have given it a 5 star but I was burping the sauce all afternoon and that was kind of gross. Somewhat of a after taste going on. Still good though! read more

Kalama's Kuisine food is EXCEPTIONAL. I've had several of their catering offerings and I swear Ive never had better brisket than theirs! No joke... it's so delicious along with the bao buns. The Mac and cheese is to die for.... perfect amount of Mac to cheese proportions, most places put too much cheese or too much mac it's never "right" but this one is perfect! We found a Kalamas Kuisine at the flea market in the Aloha Stadium and we ordered the Cajun garlic butter shrimp plate with rice and Mac salad along with the Cajun tots. The shrimp were SO good and so were the Cajun tots! They served the shrimp with two kinds of rice, plain white and one that was cooked with the shrimp which had a good flavor but it was too buttery for my liking. Tried their garlic mahimahi plate at Waikele's "What the Truck" today and it was the worst mahimahi plate I have ever eaten. I thought beef jerky was tough but the mahimahi was totally inedible and after just 2 bites threw the whole plate in the trash. Jeremiah's steak and ribs were much more tender than this fish. It was like it sat under a warmer all day and then microwaved to heat it up more. Quality control people. Try sampling what you're cooking. read more

I ordered the garlic cream mahimahi plate at Pearlridge Food truck. What I got was like 3 large spoonfuls of minced garlic with a splash of cream. The fish was actually good, as was the mac salad of all things. Too bad it was just so hard to eat with all that garlic. I had to scrape the top of the whole plate to do it. read more

This past order we did a delivery for 8 bentos and we've set up regular weekly deliveries because the food is great and you can't beat the prices. From the very beginning, Chef Rob was so helpful with ideas and suggestions. He is down to earth, very professional and made things very easy for me and my family. On event day, he was prepared and got right to work. He was organized and super neat! He is a pro! It is very obvious that chef Rob loves what he does and puts his heart and soul into his work - it shows in his creations and his wonderful customer service! He created a DELICIOUS and unique menu for my mom's celebration. All of his ingredients were fresh and local. The presentation and plating of the food was so beautiful!!!!! And DELICIOUS!!! Food was extremely ONO and great portions! Tried the specials along with their popular Kimchi Mac & Cheese. Super great flavor in the Mac & cheese with just the right amount of kick. I got their wings in Taegu sauce and it was filling. Large, moist wing pieces, crispy skin, and delicious sauce. With the sides, I was stuffed. My husband had the bulgogi burger with kimchi and side of fried pickle and fries. This burger was massive and spot on with flavor! Really enjoyed our first time. Randomly hit these guys up this morning and it was delicious. I got the pork belly bacon and hubby got the mini loco moco. The pork belly was amazing. Just smoky enough and oh so ono. The loco moco had mushrooms and onions and the gravy was good- not too heavy. Definitely check these guys on IG to see where they'll be at next.
