We were walking through the neighborhood and looking for something to eat--this place had a nice menu and we were greeted by a nice gentleman. Our order was taken and the food was delicious though I wouldn't order the paella again. It didn't have the depth of flavor and was too mushy which is a loss of 1 star. The sangria was tasty, sitting outside was a vibe and I loved the tuna tartare and octopus. Another reason I am giving it 3 stars instead of 5 is that they didn't come to refill water and one item we ordered never came and we had to go ask for it twice. Food was amazing, it melted in my mouth! I had the octopus and the steak with chimichurri and paired it with Sangria. The ambiance was chill and welcoming. Raquel and Francis were very helpful and diligent, they recommended the perfect tapas and entrees I was looking for. While staying at a nearby hotel pre-cruise, we were searching for a good tapas place to dine at for dinner. Read the reviews here and this place did not disappoint. The restaurant is off on a side street, very cute, nicely decorated and cozy. We were the only customers there as people don't normally eat dinner in Spain until 10pm-ish. Our server, Emily, was so kind and explained some of the dishes. We ended up ordering the sliced steak, calamari and bread with tomato topping. Everything was brought out nice and warm, and the food was absolutely delicious. The steak was cooked right with enough seasoning, tenderness and juiciness that was mouthwatering. Calamari was battered lightly and the chewiness was just right. The thinlike focaccia bread toasted perfectly with the tomato spread was heaven. I thought I had a written review about this restaurant, but I guess not! After a long day of traveling from Madrid to Barcelona, I wanted to find a restaurant close to the hotel I was staying at. Kalamata popped up and it was about a 10 minute walk from my hotel. Perfect! I was the only one in the restaurant lol (I am the American wanting to have dinner at five hehe) at first there was a sign at the front door saying they were closed for siesta, but when they saw me looking, they kindly let me in. I was super happy as I was starving at this point. I ordered the barrata salad, ceviche, and paella for one. A lot of food I know, but I literally hadn't eaten all day and I was ready for some good Spanish food!!! The salad was bomb.com. And honestly, the ceviche was the best ceviche I've ever had in my whole life. I really enjoyed it. I'm telling you I was in Spain for 10 days and my meal in this restaurant was the best meal I had the whole trip if you were in Barcelona, definitely stop by. The service was good and the food came out after another at a good pace. For those of you who don't speak Spanish, they did have an English menu, and the lady that brought me food and took my order spoke English. Barcelona has a lot of great places to eat, I stumbled on this resto walking around the hotel I was staying at. Good food, good service and reasonable prices, I would not say cheap, but reasonable. One of the top restaurants we ate at while in the area. I hate olives but I actually really liked the ones they served and made me more willing to try them at other places. Cute little place! It's located in a less busy street so when we got to the restaurant, we thought it was closed. We walked in, were greeted right away and seated. We ordered the bread with tomato (by far, this place made the best of these), green salad with mango & avocado, seabass ceviche and shrimp ceviche with coconut milk, grilled steak slices with french fries and the broken eggs potatoes iberico ham and of course the sangria (cava). I was in town for work and was staying at a hotel within a 10 min walk. We were a very large group - 16 people and they were able to accommodate us on a Wednesday evening with a same day reservation. Our server was very patient and attentive to our group and the food and drinks cane swift. Their menu has many standard Spanish tapas offerings including jamon croquette, octopus, Patatas Bravas, And calamari Everything was quite tasty. I stopped by Kalamata on a whim. It looked lively and chic as I was walking by, in an otherwise dark and quiet neighborhood. Great decision! Even though they seemed to be booked solid, they were totally find about letting me order food and drinks at the bar. I wasn't super hungry, so I just had some wine and a couple of tapas. They had a good selection of wines by the glass. I tried two of the reds and enjoyed them. For tapas, I got the pimientos and the foie micuit. The pimientos were good. The foie micuit (half-cooked liver was out of this world), one of the best preparations of liver I've ever had, and beautifully presented. My only disappointment is that I didn't get to go there a second time during my trip. Highly recommended. read more

The Sangria: was amazing; Patatas Bravas: excellent and we always ended up ordering two; Croquettes: tasty, crunchy with soft inside; everything we tried was very good. Too pooped from a long day of walking so checked out Yelp and found this cute tapas restaurant around the corner. Delicious food and wine + waiter from Portugal comped us with two port tastings. Cute area to be in...close to the beach and yet in a suburban area. Being Canadian, we arrived at 7 for dinner and they were just opening. In spite of eating alone (ha ha) it was wonderful.
