The spots were normal size, not striped for a smart car like most lots. I was able to validate in the museum when I purchased my ticket. For an hour and a half of parking it was about $6 with the validation. The museum was built in an old post office. I loved the building with the history and character. Admission is free for under 18 years old. We happened to catch a day when an exhibit was being switched out so admission for adults was only $10! On a normal day it would be $20. I saw that college students can enter for free on Thursday evenings. What a nice offer since there are so many colleges in the area. We started our visit at Cafe Cheeserie for matcha lattes. They were great! The dining room is so bright and cheery. The menu looks delicious. We had afternoon tea reservations the day we visited, but we'll definitely be back for food. They also had tables outside for nice days. The staff here really made the experience a great one. They were so friendly and welcoming. They were so sweet with my seven year old, both in the kid area and in the main gallery. I loved the cart to show the different elements used in the rotating exhibit. This gave us a real appreciation for the art and what we were seeing. The first floor has the main gallery. This was larger than it looked from the outside. We enjoyed looking at the variety of art in these rooms. Our favorite exhibit was Interwoven by Anila Quayyum Agha. It was all so beautiful, interesting, and impressive. The Martin ArtQuest area for children was great. Kids could spend hours here. They had watercolor painting, sketching, drawing, and other interactive options. They even had bags available to bring everything home in. Don't miss the gift shop. They had a lot of fun and beautiful things in there, especially for kids. The pricing was surprisingly reasonable. My daughter was excited to leave with a couple of inexpensive treasures. The Frist was a fun place to explore and we really enjoyed interacting with the employees here. They really added to the experience.

Honest experience review: Want to cry like a grown up? Live the history of country music first hand…read morewith this tour. 5/5, would recommend it to anyone in the area. Was in town for Alan Jackson's final concert so when in the area? Why not visit country's hall of fame. From historic music lessons, to entertainment that's still aired on iHeart radio, you're touring where the past and future greats are privileged to perform. While shows are still going and people are still being inducted and asked to join the family of greatness. Tears or joy are found as you hear the passion and feel the greatness. Walking through the halls, through the rooms, through the stage!!!! Where you get to take a picture on the stage itself.... Just an experience as a musician myself, would say anyone would appreciate. Such an honor to walk the stage many future greats will be walk. Grateful for all the work that exists to preserve this history.

For a bachelor party, one of the guys booked tickets for us to go to a show. I personally knew none of the lineup that was performing throughout the evening but still wanted to go and check this out anyways. Walking up to the place, nothing too special. As you got closer, the flair started to show of how great this place is. Then walking in....WOW! Not what I expected at all. The decor is incredible. It's so hard to explain so you have to see it for yourself. Likewise when you get in to your seats (we were on the first level), sitting down to look at the stage is just something so unique and different from a typical music venue. Usually the shows are broadcasted live to a radio station, so they really put out a good show each night. You could lightly talk to people around you during the shows, so it wasn't incredibly loud like most places. The lights that were behind the different performers felt so nice on your eyes too. Everyone sounded great and the last guy had been performing for over 50 years! They still brought him out and he put on a heck of a closing performance! It was sad to walk out of this place. My friends felt the same way, we did a lap of the place and stuck around in the gift shop for a bit to continue absorbing the evening. We still even stood outside for a while taking pictures. The Grand Ole Opry...is something! Words can barely describe this place. You have to see it yourself, pictures don't do the justice.

The exhibits are interactive, engaging, and beautifully showcase the rich history and influence of African American music across every genre. I loved how immersive the experience was and left with a greater appreciation for the artists and their impact on music. My only suggestion would be to provide a clearer explanation of how the interactive wristband works. It wasn't immediately obvious where to scan it, what information it saves, how long it takes to receive your personalized playlist, or how to access and listen to it after your visit. Overall, it was an outstanding museum experience, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Nashville!

I think the biggest question for potential visitors who are planning their visit by scouring these…read morereviews is this. What causes online ratings to be so incredibly high for this museum? On every crowd-sourced platform, nearly every reviewer gives the museum a five-star rating. I think there are several factors at play as I left realizing I, too, would unequivocally bestow this experience five stars! First, it's the thoroughness of the story being told. The museum digs deep into the history of African American music, back to the negro spirituals, the ugly times of slavery, and gospel music of old. It takes you on a detailed journey all the way up to modern hip hop and R&B. Second, the museum is sprawling, sensory overload (in a good way) with tales of impactful musicians and their stories every which way you look through countless rooms! Videos and signage allow celebrities to tell their stories, discuss their influences, and comment on the enormous impact of black musicians. Third, it's an immersive experience. Patrons are encouraged to sing along to the music in one room, dance in another, download musical tracks onto their phones, and create beats from scratch. It's a fun and unique experience that is truly unlike most museums. And it's well worth your time!

The staff and volunteers at Nashville Shakes are dedicated to making a person's experience the best they can possibly have, the actors put their hearts into every new rendition of Shakespeare, and the writing holds up through the ages even if the play is modernized. Funny and entertaining, the staff, actors, and volunteers deliver an amazing experience, and I would recommend volunteering there if you want to immerse yourself in Shakespeare and enjoy your work. Having worked there for two years as a volunteer, I can say that I will have great memories of my time there, and that it was a privilege to have worked alongside such kind and passionate people for so long. Hopefully there's more to come from such an excellent theater group. A truly excellent experience. Thank you NSF!
