Honest experience review: Want to cry like a grown up? Live the history of country music first hand with this tour. 5/5, would recommend it to anyone in the area. Was in town for Alan Jackson's final concert so when in the area? Why not visit country's hall of fame. From historic music lessons, to entertainment that's still aired on iHeart radio, you're touring where the past and future greats are privileged to perform. While shows are still going and people are still being inducted and asked to join the family of greatness. Tears or joy are found as you hear the passion and feel the greatness. Walking through the halls, through the rooms, through the stage!!!! Where you get to take a picture on the stage itself.... Just an experience as a musician myself, would say anyone would appreciate. This was an experience I was NOT ready for but very happy that this is now a locked in memory that I got to experience. For a bachelor party, one of the guys booked tickets for us to go to a show. I personally knew none of the lineup that was performing throughout the evening but still wanted to go and check this out anyways. Walking up to the place, nothing too special. As you got closer, the flair started to show of how great this place is. Then walking in....WOW! Not what I expected at all. The decor is incredible. It's so hard to explain so you have to see it for yourself. Likewise when you get in to your seats (we were on the first level), sitting down to look at the stage is just something so unique and different from a typical music venue. Usually the shows are broadcasted live to a radio station, so they really put out a good show each night. You could lightly talk to people around you during the shows, so it wasn't incredibly loud like most places. The lights that were behind the different performers felt so nice on your eyes too. Everyone sounded great and the last guy had been performing for over 50 years! They still brought him out and he put on a heck of a closing performance! It was sad to walk out of this place. My friends felt the same way, we did a lap of the place and stuck around in the gift shop for a bit to continue absorbing the evening. We still even stood outside for a while taking pictures. The Grand Ole Opry...is something! Words can barely describe this place. You have to see it yourself, pictures don't do the justice. read more

It's no Ryman, but I understand the dollar signs that built the new(er) Opry building. Lots of photo ops around the entrance. Can accommodate lots of country music fans (and tourists); and at least the truly grand old Ryman continues to host many wonderful shows. Warning for those staying at the Gaylord and walking over to the Opry for a show. You'll already have walked A LOT inside the Gaylord, and it's a good ways from there on the path to the Opry. We had one of the rooms closest to the Opry side Gaylord exit and it was still a solid mile walk each way. If that's a bit far for you, and you're thinking you'll just take a break mid walk, there is no resting point, not a single bench, between the hotel and opry. We'll certainly see how convenient ride share is for our next Opry concert. The benches (not seats) at least are cushioned, so they emulate the church pews of the Ryman, with a touch more comfort. Signs show the venue getting a little worn. For example, there was no running water in any of the sinks in the men's room. We'll be back. How can you not. read more

The Grand Ole Opry is the iconic venue that you really have to see if you're in Nashville. A perhaps lesser example is First Avenue/7th Street Annex in Minneapolis. It also doesn't hurt to have seen the Ken Burns Country Music production to add a bit of history and context to this place and Ryman. Auditorium. It's a decent Taxi/Uber ride out here (and back), with drop off and finding one to go back pretty easy. There are snacks and a gift shop here, but if you want to make it a dinner and a show, there are places nearby. Gayle and I, along with Erin and Jim attended the April 30 performance of Opry Country Classics. The Larry Gatlin (and Brothers) were the MCs, with the Opry band handling the backup music, and Charlie Mattos doing the folksy "Play by Play", all live on WSM (We Shield Millions) Radio. Performers were Janie Fricke, Hanna Dasher, Moe Bandy, and Daily and Vincent as the featured artist. It was a great show! We had a nice 4 seat pew near the front, the sight lines (direct and via screens) were clear, and the sound quality/mix was excellent. Daily and Vincent (with the guest banjo player) were fantastic and I've already preordered their next album. The only minor irritation was Hanna Dasher shamelessly promoting her cook book (Stand by Your Pan), but even that added to the high quality entertainment value of this show. The Grand Ole Opry refers to a live country music radio broadcast, not a theater. Founded on November 28, 1925, it is the longest-running radio broadcast in US history, with over 5,200 episodes. The Grand Ole Opry has operated out of several venues, and since 1974, performances have been in the Grand Ole Opry House; previously, it was the Ryman Auditorium in downtown Nashville between 1943 to 1974. This year (2026) is a special year, as the Grand Ole Opry turns 100, and on February 28, 2026, there was a performance to celebrate 25 year anniversary of the movie "O Brother Where Art Thou?" The movie is well known for its soundtrack, and it introduced bluegrass music to a new generation. Performing were several artists from the soundtrack, such as Alison Krauss (my fifth time seeing her!), Emmylou Harris, Dan Tyminski, The Whites, The Fairfield Four, and the actor Tim Blake Nelson. There were also numerous other artists performing songs from the soundtrack such as Old Crow Medicine Show, Billy Strings, Sarah Jarosz, Molly Tuttle, Jerry Douglas, Stuart Duncan, and many, many more. It started as a tour and ended as a show. My family and I took a road trip from NC to Arkansas that traversed TN giving us the opportunity to spend some time in Nashville. I grew up listening to country however, my wife and son did not. They were not as excited but both are music fans so they were willing to come along for the ride. We booked did not book the tour in advance because we were not 100% sure we would be able to pull it off. We were able to book the tour by walking up and into the ticket sales office. They offer a military discount on site (I cannot remember if this is available online) saving us about 10%. We had a short wait for the tour to begin but that time went quickly browsing through the gift shop. The tour started with a short video of Garth Brooks, Tanya Tucker and many others welcoming guests and discussing the history as well as their experiences. Next we started walking the halls that so many famous artists have walked. We were able to see the famous entrance to the Opry as well as all of the dressing rooms and sitting areas. I never realized there was a hierarchy and so much logic to the dressing rooms. The tour took about an hour and gave us the chance to have our picture taken on the famous Opry stage (in the circle). We enjoyed the experience so much we actually bought tickets for that evenings show. That was such a fun time and a great experience to see so many different artists in the world famous Grand Ol Opry. read more

We bought tickets and were able to attend a show on a Saturday night during the 100th year of the Opry. We had a great time, although they really pack the rows of pews with people. I deducted a star because of the chaotic self-serve concession stands. There's no system or organization to help people get their concessions and then pay for the items. read more

They each song three Christmas songs. We had the pleasure of two identical twins turning 90 sitting in front of us. They were so sweet! Such a joy! We bought the VIP tickets and they were so worth it. Our guide was amazing--giving a lot of great information, conversing with the people in the group, and offering lots of fun details. We got to see everything in the back--the entry for the musicians, the dressing rooms, and the stage. We were given lots of opportunities to take pictures and the pictures taken as part of the package were SO worth it. We stood in the circle for one and the other was taken in the song writer's room. I am fortunate to have visited Nashville during Opry 100 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Grand Ole Opry. The concert I attended was entertaining and had a long lineup of talent, including country music stars Carrie Underwood, Connie Smith, John Foster, and Mark Wills. I did not recognize some of the artists' names, but I knew their songs instantly. For example, Riders in the Sky (Toy Story songs, including Woody's Roundup) and songwriter Don Schlitz (who composed When You Say Nothing At All) were actually my favorite artists of the night. They were very funny, witty, and talented. If you can make it to Nashville this year, the Opry 100 concerts are a must. read more

I visited the Opry in the summer and it was definitely lively with a big crowd. The atmosphere was great, with live musicians performing in the courtyard which really set the tone for what the Grand Ole Opry is all about. Exploring the grounds is free and definitely with the stop, though you'll need to purchase tickets for concerts inside of course. Our first time here and what a lineup! We came on Veterans Day, and my veteran hubby and other vets in the audience were thanked numerous times by the performers. If you get tickets in the highest seats of the balcony, there are monitors to show close ups of the performers, but its a climb! We weren't at the top, but we were close enough that I didn't want to leave during intermission. The seats are like pews with #s on the seat backs. If you have any larger people in your party, it can get tight. My hubby is over 6ft, so leg room was a little tight but tolerable. However it was impossible to walk in front of seated people, so keep that in mind if you show up late. Everyone from the door staff, security, to retail were all very personable. We felt welcomed from the moment we stepped inside. We got there an hour before the doors opened and there was already a pretty decent line. In the winter, DRESS WARM!!! While it was warm enough inside, at times a cold breeze blew in from somewhere and I was glad to have my jacket. No matter who is playing, there is a rich history and special feeling in this place. If you are visiting Nashville this is a staple you must visit! If you are driving allow yourself 15-20 minutes for parking as it is a popular attraction and gets packed and if it's a sought after artist even more. The food offerings are very movie theater/sporting event like so I would recommend you watch elsewhere prior to coming in. They do have a full bar so you can grab drinks during the show. (They have a 15 minute intermission during the show but the line gets backed up) It's a live radio show and the artist line up is always great. Such a unique experience like no other. This was my first time visiting Nashville, and I'm so glad I ended my trip with a visit to the Grand Ole Opry. I'm not usually a country music listener, so I walked in expecting a fun experience but nothing too life-changing. Instead, the show completely blew me away. The performers were incredible, the energy in the room felt electric, and the whole night was this surprising mix of heart, humor, and pure talent. The Opry has a way of pulling you in even if the genre isn't normally your thing. You can feel the history in the space, but the show itself feels alive and full of joy. I went here a live radio show on a Thursday night and it did not disappoint. I had toured the facility previously, which I highly recommend, as you learn about the rich history and the importance of the Grand Ole Opry. The seating is comfortable, and the artists were spectacular. Definitely put this experience on your bucket list! Each artist plays 3-4 songs then on to the next. The lights/special effects changing the background was unexpected and really added another dimension. Really fun experience! I bought a poster in the shop which had the date and names of performers I saw that night! I parked in the mall lot for free, as the lot for the opry is $25. It wasn't a bad walk at all. The show started at 7 and I left at 9 to catch a flight so only missed one artist but since it's a radio show I was able to hear what I missed. read more

The worst thing Nashville done was got rid of Opryland I worked there as a teenager plus spent a lot of my days off there it was just a fun place to be and visitors loved it to. This was our first visit to Grand Ole Opry and I had an amazing experience. It was neat to learn a little bit about the history of how everything started. Overall, I enjoyed the performances of all the bands and country music singers that played this evening from The Oak Ridge Boys, Abbey Cone, Dailey & Vincent, The Gatlin Brothers, Tigirlily Gold, Taylor Hicks and more. One can really appreciate the different venue as they are not a ton of seats like at some of your other traditional concerts. I think this makes it a little more inviting and personable. I feel that there is a great value for the service they provide. They do not charge a bunch of fees when purchasing tickets. They have a variety of food selections available. The prices were fairly reasonable all things considering. However, $12 for a 16 ounce beer is a little much in my opinion. read more

Technically, the Grand Ole Opry is a 100 year old country radio show that can be performed anywhere. For years, it was performed at the Ryman building downtown until the Opry built this big building outside of downtown. The surrounding area is a total cluster: the enormous Gaylord Hotel, an outlet mall, the present Opry building, and tons of restaurants are all clustered together. The Opry building is very nice and feels very new, even though it is not. It holds upwards of 4,000 for shows and I doubt there's a bad seats. In fact, you can get seats fairly close to the stage for reasonable prices as long as you're not front and center. The Opry show itself can best be described as a variety show. There will be a number of musical acts--maybe five or six--with some comedy or dancing or storytelling thrown in. Some of the acts are major talents while others are lesser knowns. The jokes are all family friendly and corny. But the entire show as a whole is very entertaining. You can't help but have fun. It wouldn't be America without an enormous gift shop and the Opry has an excellent one. If you can't find a souvenir here, you aren't trying. You can also get a poster with the names of the artists who performed during that day's show, which is pretty cool. There's a lengthy and unnecessary intermission during the show which should give you at least one opportunity to get that Opry pillow you've always wanted. The Opry tour, distinct from the show, is also excellent. The best part is seeing the dressing rooms and common area for the stars backstage. The dressing rooms are really top notch. The Opry tour and the Opry show are both worth your time and money. And don't forget your souvenir. read more

Historic music venue! I am not a country music fan but enjoyed coming here nonetheless. We came on a Friday night during their Opry 100th year event. We had seats in the upper section but smack dab in the middle. The views were great. There were several acts and they each played 3 songs each. I loved the variety of acts here and it kept things interesting. The seats were interesting as it is one long booth opposed to individual seats. They had a variety of food for sale but we did not purchase anything. The gift shop is huge and had a variety of gifts and souvenirs. Every staff member was so kind here. One thing I noticed is that some Uber drivers don't know where to pick you up if you enter Opry on the app, even though the parking lot after the bridge says it's a designated pick up area for rideshare, so just be mindful of where you are entering your pickup on the app. read more

No visit to Music City is complete without a visit to this historic place. Even though this new location is less than 50 years old, the Opry is turning 100 in November and is the longest running radio show in the world. It's a little faraway - 10 miles from downtown, but rideshares and taxis are easily available. There is a large shopping mall across the street and the Opryland resort nearby. Its always busy, so book your tickets in advance. Even though I booked month's before, I couldn't get the best seats. The seats are designed like church pews and the auditorium looks old school to resemble the Ryman. But the acoustics are excellent and there's not a bad seat in the house. The Saturday show runs from 7 pm to almost 10 pm with a 15 minute break. There were several acts including Martina McBride and Vince Gill. It was definitely something that I will cherish and remember for a very long time. Food and drinks are available inside but are pricey. The only problem that we had, was the almost hour long wait to get an Uber back. read more

5/12/2022 Lifetime bucket list visit of the Grand Ole Opry! This was the Gem of our Nashville stop. Parking 5/5 The parking lot is a wild experience. Numerous attractions from Restaurants, Mall and the Opry compete in a massive parking lot. There are shuttles that pick you up a deliver you on the steps of the Opry. We arrived early for good parking and to eat at the Aquarium Restaurant before the show. Ambiance 5/5 Outside you are greeted by a large acoustic guitar intended for your glamour poses. Beyond that guitar is the Face of the Opry House and the anticipation begins! We were early enough to visit the adjacent Opry store for souvenirs and walk around to take pictures. Venus 5/5 OMGosh pinch me! Once through security you see the decor and seating staff ready to guide you towards your seating area. I purchased second floor balcony front row seats days earlier. Performers 5/5 We enjoyed the Gatlin Brothers and three other groups that full filled our dream of being part of the Grand Ole Opry! After Show Tour 5/5 We did not know you could take a behind the scenes tour after the performance. When we purchased our souvenirs at the store that asked if we might be interested in taking the tour and we jumped on it! The tour is split into multiple groups with a tour guide. Each group progresses through the Performer's back stage entry way, rehearsal stage, prop area, Music Stars mailroom and a dozen or so dressing rooms. The tour also took us through the old "Hew Haw" TV show filming studio. The crescendo of the tour was getting onto the stage. We passed all the musicians equipment and fabulous performers view of the auditorium. Wow just wow! The icing on the cake was professional photographer taking shots of us standing in the famous "Circle" every performer dreams about during their induction to the Grand Ike Opry. This was a memorable visit and I encourage everyone to get the after show tour tickets!!!! read more

I was so geeked out when I found out i was sitting backstage and I saw Zach a couple times. I also got to sit on stage with shinedown. Which I apparently didn't read the memo on that until I was on stage. I was over the moon to witness their debut there and being able to witness them sing a brand new song. I also enjoyed all the other artists that showed up there. It was such an experience to sit through and witness. My mind cant even believe I sat right behind shinedown. We visited the Gran Ole Opry and what a show it was. We did know this show was anything special however that changed. Ronnie Milsap was honored. Did they have the great singers to make tributes to his career. The entire show was a class act. We saw Keith Urban, Mark Wills, Ella Langley, Vince Gill. Blake Shelton, Trace Adkins and of course Ronnie Milsap. Great show with extremely talented musicians. The supporting back up musicians were just as good. I recommend you eat and drink before you go. Everything was a bit expensive.. 12 inch pizza was $20. The small bag of popcorn was $17. I have no idea what the drinks cost. People bought them up. The show was close to 3hrs long. First time here and it was nice to see a prominent country star such as Carrie Underwood at an iconic venue. However, there were 2 major issues : 1) The parking situation there is atrocious ! The venue apparently has no desire to hire parking attendants , therefore it was a cluster getting in for a 9:30 show when the 7:00 show was using the same parking lot. I was 20 minutes late getting in due to the logjam ! 2) I paid $ 100 for my ticket thinking Carrie Underwood would perform at least 1 hour. Nope. 4 songs. Let me just say this--if you're thinking about splurging on the VIP Experience at the Grand Ole Opry... DO IT. Yes, your wallet will feel it, but your soul (and your Instagram feed) will thank you. We rolled into town with the fam and knew the Opry was non-negotiable. I'd done the backstage tour before, which is great--but this? This was Beyoncé-at-the-Grammys level fabulous. Mother Nature wasn't on our side (pouring rain = no golf cart ride to the artist entrance), but it didn't matter. We still got whisked behind the scenes like we were honorary members of the Opry. Private green room? Check. Drinks? Check. Big Dave and Isaac.. CHECK. An actual country music star popping in to say howdy? DOUBLE CHECK. Huge shoutout to Mark Wills--such a class act and kind soul. You made our night, sir. Then came the real magic: we sat on stage for the first half of the show. Yes, ON. THE. STAGE. Like, "I wonder if I'm accidentally in this artist's eyeline" on stage. The bench we sat on had built-in monitors so we could see what the audience sees, which was both surreal and kind of hilarious. The cherry on top? My brother--who is usually stoic like a cowboy in a Clint Eastwood film--was SMILING. That's when I knew: VIP tickets well spent. Second half of the show, we were guided to our fourth-row seats.
