Our first time and now I get why this is such a special place. We came when they were honoring the music of Don Williams and the stars came out for this opportunity to thank him. Trisha Yearwood and Keith Urban were the most familiar and each shared their personal stories of how Don has influenced their lives. John Foster, an American Idol winner, opened the night with Tulsa Time. The Isaac's were amazing and their harmonies unforgettable. We loved the relaxed feel of the event and and how respectful the audience was of the stories being shared. It was by far the most enjoyable concert I've ever attended, and I wasn't a country music lover prior. That is changing as a result and I bought a t-shirt to show it. We came early and parked at the mall where we had dinner. This allowed us to walk to the Opry afterwards. There are lots of stairs which I think would be challenging for someone who struggles with walking.
Honest experience review: Want to cry like a grown up? Live the history of country music first hand with this tour. 5/5, would recommend it to anyone in the area. Was in town for Alan Jackson's final concert so when in the area? Why not visit country's hall of fame. From historic music lessons, to entertainment that's still aired on iHeart radio, you're touring where the past and future greats are privileged to perform. While shows are still going and people are still being inducted and asked to join the family of greatness. Tears or joy are found as you hear the passion and feel the greatness. Walking through the halls, through the rooms, through the stage!!!! Where you get to take a picture on the stage itself.... Just an experience as a musician myself, would say anyone would appreciate. Such an honor to walk the stage many future greats will be walk. Grateful for all the work that exists to preserve this history.

This was an experience I was NOT ready for but very happy that this is now a locked in memory that I got to experience. For a bachelor party, one of the guys booked tickets for us to go to a show. I personally knew none of the lineup that was performing throughout the evening but still wanted to go and check this out anyways. Walking up to the place, nothing too special. As you got closer, the flair started to show of how great this place is. Then walking in....WOW! Not what I expected at all. The decor is incredible. It's so hard to explain so you have to see it for yourself. Likewise when you get in to your seats (we were on the first level), sitting down to look at the stage is just something so unique and different from a typical music venue. Usually the shows are broadcasted live to a radio station, so they really put out a good show each night. You could lightly talk to people around you during the shows, so it wasn't incredibly loud like most places. The lights that were behind the different performers felt so nice on your eyes too. Everyone sounded great and the last guy had been performing for over 50 years! They still brought him out and he put on a heck of a closing performance! It was sad to walk out of this place. My friends felt the same way, we did a lap of the place and stuck around in the gift shop for a bit to continue absorbing the evening. We still even stood outside for a while taking pictures. The Grand Ole Opry...is something! Words can barely describe this place. You have to see it yourself, pictures don't do the justice.
I attended a concert and went on the tour at the Grand Old Opry. Both were absolutely terrific. The backstage tour was far more involved than I would have expected, full of cool trivia and a great photo op. And of course the room is legendary for a reason. This place is known everywhere for a reason. A visit isn't cheap, but it's money well spent.
The Grand Ole Opry is the iconic venue that you really have to see if you're in Nashville. A perhaps lesser example is First Avenue/7th Street Annex in Minneapolis. It also doesn't hurt to have seen the Ken Burns Country Music production to add a bit of history and context to this place and Ryman. Auditorium. It's a decent Taxi/Uber ride out here (and back), with drop off and finding one to go back pretty easy. There are snacks and a gift shop here, but if you want to make it a dinner and a show, there are places nearby. Gayle and I, along with Erin and Jim attended the April 30 performance of Opry Country Classics. The Larry Gatlin (and Brothers) were the MCs, with the Opry band handling the backup music, and Charlie Mattos doing the folksy "Play by Play", all live on WSM (We Shield Millions) Radio. Performers were Janie Fricke, Hanna Dasher, Moe Bandy, and Daily and Vincent as the featured artist. It was a great show! We had a nice 4 seat pew near the front, the sight lines (direct and via screens) were clear, and the sound quality/mix was excellent. Daily and Vincent (with the guest banjo player) were fantastic and I've already preordered their next album. The only minor irritation was Hanna Dasher shamelessly promoting her cook book (Stand by Your Pan), but even that added to the high quality entertainment value of this show. I'd love to experience this again.
The Grand Ole Opry is a legendary institution celebrating its centennial in 2026. I have been to many shows here and they have been always fun and family friendly, even if the humor is a bit corny at times. We traveled up from Austin to see Orville Peck's debut. Although he was limited by an untimely case of laryngitis, the show was still great with a full bill of talent including Mickey Guyton, Kaitlin Butts, Cleto Cordero (Flatland Cavalry), Dasha, and Margo Price. The only annoyance was the constant movement of two cameramen providing the feed for the big screens as they kept walking in front of us. Highly recommended.
The Grand Ole Opry refers to a live country music radio broadcast, not a theater. Founded on November 28, 1925, it is the longest-running radio broadcast in US history, with over 5,200 episodes. The Grand Ole Opry has operated out of several venues, and since 1974, performances have been in the Grand Ole Opry House; previously, it was the Ryman Auditorium in downtown Nashville between 1943 to 1974. This year (2026) is a special year, as the Grand Ole Opry turns 100, and on February 28, 2026, there was a performance to celebrate 25 year anniversary of the movie "O Brother Where Art Thou?" The movie is well known for its soundtrack, and it introduced bluegrass music to a new generation. Performing were several artists from the soundtrack, such as Alison Krauss (my fifth time seeing her!), Emmylou Harris, Dan Tyminski, The Whites, The Fairfield Four, and the actor Tim Blake Nelson. There were also numerous other artists performing songs from the soundtrack such as Old Crow Medicine Show, Billy Strings, Sarah Jarosz, Molly Tuttle, Jerry Douglas, Stuart Duncan, and many, many more. Even though I didn't know most of the performers, I really enjoyed the show. After the performance, there was a Q&A with Tim Blake Nelson, Dan Tyminski, and Chris Thomas King. Doc decided to show Hubs the Opry cuz he wasn't with us on one of our cross country USA trips. Nice to come before 8 am when only the maintenance drivers are around. Soft spot in our hearts cuz couple of summers ago we were supposed to come but change of plans. Works out cuz we are here now, heading to Dollywood tomorrow. Side note: guess what Doc named her car years ago when she first got it. Did you guess?

We had a wonderful time celebrating our 51st anniversary attending the Grand Ole Opry. Saw a lot of great performers & wonderful music & comedy. Comfortable padded church pews for seating. Our seats Section 7 far Left of stage. Row C seats 3 & 4. Purchased tickets 4 days before.
We bought tickets and were able to attend a show on a Saturday night during the 100th year of the Opry. We had a great time, although they really pack the rows of pews with people. I deducted a star because of the chaotic self-serve concession stands. There's no system or organization to help people get their concessions and then pay for the items.
This was our first time yo the Grand Ole Opry. We had great seats, 7 rows from the front on the right. I had only heard of the Gatlin Brothers on the line up but each performer was fantastic. They each song three Christmas songs. We had the pleasure of two identical twins turning 90 sitting in front of us. They were so sweet! Such a joy! We will definitely plan another trip to this place on a return visit. Enjoy!

Amazing experience! We were there the night after we lost Dolly Parton. The music, the tributes to her and singing her songs was unforgettable to be a part of remembering and honoring a true legend and inspiring singer and song writer. Watching 2 debuts was also great to witness their success making it to the Opry stage! read more
We stopped by the Grand Ole Opry over Labor Day weekend while I was in Nashville with some friends for a football game. The Opry is one of those places I have been to several times over the years, and it was great getting to come back and enjoy it again with friends. I have seen some amazing artists perform here over the years, including Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood, Dierks Bentley, and Brad Paisley. There is something special about being inside the Opry and knowing how many legendary country artists have stood on that stage before you. It really is one of those Nashville places that feels like it is part of the history of country music. This visit was a little different because we were not there specifically for a concert. We were in town for the football game and spent part of the weekend exploring Nashville with friends. We stopped by the Opry, walked around, took some pictures, and just enjoyed being there. It was a great way to spend some time at one of the most recognizable places in Nashville. Even after seeing some incredible shows here over the years, the Grand Ole Opry still has that same special feeling. There is so much history packed into the place, and you can really appreciate how important it has been to country music. We had a great time stopping by during our Nashville trip. Whether you are seeing a show or just visiting the area and taking in the history, I definitely recommend making the Grand Ole Opry part of your Nashville experience. It is always a great stop for me, and this visit with my friends was another memorable one. read more

If you could only see one thing in Nashville, this would be the one thing I would recommend you to do. We parked at Opry Mills mall near Dave & Busters and walked over to the theater. The show is a mixture of live stage performances and short videos showing the history of the Grand Ole Opry as they just celebrated their 100 year anniversary of being on the radio on November 2025. The performances are a live cast to radio 650 AM WSM. For our show, we had 7 singers and one comedian. The production quality (camera and sound), emcee, and backing musicians were excellent. I thought all the performers were top notch and very talented. Three singers debuted new singles that night. The Grand Ole Opry is a good mix of entertainment and hearing something you've never heard before. I don't consider myself a country music fan, but appreciated all the performers. This is something really unique to Nashville and should be prioritized if you're in town. read more

I am fortunate to have visited Nashville during Opry 100 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Grand Ole Opry. The concert I attended was entertaining and had a long lineup of talent, including country music stars Carrie Underwood, Connie Smith, John Foster, and Mark Wills. I did not recognize some of the artists' names, but I knew their songs instantly. For example, Riders in the Sky (Toy Story songs, including Woody's Roundup) and songwriter Don Schlitz (who composed When You Say Nothing At All) were actually my favorite artists of the night. They were very funny, witty, and talented. If you can make it to Nashville this year, the Opry 100 concerts are a must. read more

I visited the Opry in the summer and it was definitely lively with a big crowd. The atmosphere was great, with live musicians performing in the courtyard which really set the tone for what the Grand Ole Opry is all about. Exploring the grounds is free and definitely with the stop, though you'll need to purchase tickets for concerts inside of course. An iconic must see and must visit stop when you're in Nashville, which is a true testament for country music read more
Our first time here and what a lineup! We came on Veterans Day, and my veteran hubby and other vets in the audience were thanked numerous times by the performers. If you get tickets in the highest seats of the balcony, there are monitors to show close ups of the performers, but its a climb! We weren't at the top, but we were close enough that I didn't want to leave during intermission. The seats are like pews with #s on the seat backs. If you have any larger people in your party, it can get tight. My hubby is over 6ft, so leg room was a little tight but tolerable. However it was impossible to walk in front of seated people, so keep that in mind if you show up late. Everyone from the door staff, security, to retail were all very personable. We felt welcomed from the moment we stepped inside. We got there an hour before the doors opened and there was already a pretty decent line. In the winter, DRESS WARM!!! While it was warm enough inside, at times a cold breeze blew in from somewhere and I was glad to have my jacket. No matter who is playing, there is a rich history and special feeling in this place. We did not get to do the tour, but will definitely be back for that! Congrats on 100 years! read more

If you are visiting Nashville this is a staple you must visit! If you are driving allow yourself 15-20 minutes for parking as it is a popular attraction and gets packed and if it's a sought after artist even more. The food offerings are very movie theater/sporting event like so I would recommend you watch elsewhere prior to coming in. They do have a full bar so you can grab drinks during the show. (They have a 15 minute intermission during the show but the line gets backed up) It's a live radio show and the artist line up is always great. Such a unique experience like no other. The entrance to the place has a lot of photo ops opportunities especially during the holidays. read more
This was my first time visiting Nashville, and I'm so glad I ended my trip with a visit to the Grand Ole Opry. I'm not usually a country music listener, so I walked in expecting a fun experience but nothing too life-changing. Instead, the show completely blew me away. The performers were incredible, the energy in the room felt electric, and the whole night was this surprising mix of heart, humor, and pure talent. The Opry has a way of pulling you in even if the genre isn't normally your thing. You can feel the history in the space, but the show itself feels alive and full of joy. It was the perfect finale to my time in Nashville, and honestly one of the highlights of my entire trip. Five stars without question. read more
We bought the VIP tickets and they were so worth it. Our guide was amazing--giving a lot of great information, conversing with the people in the group, and offering lots of fun details. We got to see everything in the back--the entry for the musicians, the dressing rooms, and the stage. We were given lots of opportunities to take pictures and the pictures taken as part of the package were SO worth it. We stood in the circle for one and the other was taken in the song writer's room. Totally worth making the trip. read more
I went here a live radio show on a Thursday night and it did not disappoint. I had toured the facility previously, which I highly recommend, as you learn about the rich history and the importance of the Grand Ole Opry. The seating is comfortable, and the artists were spectacular. Definitely put this experience on your bucket list! Each artist plays 3-4 songs then on to the next. The lights/special effects changing the background was unexpected and really added another dimension. Really fun experience! I bought a poster in the shop which had the date and names of performers I saw that night! I parked in the mall lot for free, as the lot for the opry is $25. It wasn't a bad walk at all. The show started at 7 and I left at 9 to catch a flight so only missed one artist but since it's a radio show I was able to hear what I missed. read more
Technically, the Grand Ole Opry is a 100 year old country radio show that can be performed anywhere. For years, it was performed at the Ryman building downtown until the Opry built this big building outside of downtown. The surrounding area is a total cluster: the enormous Gaylord Hotel, an outlet mall, the present Opry building, and tons of restaurants are all clustered together. The Opry building is very nice and feels very new, even though it is not. It holds upwards of 4,000 for shows and I doubt there's a bad seats. In fact, you can get seats fairly close to the stage for reasonable prices as long as you're not front and center. The Opry show itself can best be described as a variety show. There will be a number of musical acts--maybe five or six--with some comedy or dancing or storytelling thrown in. Some of the acts are major talents while others are lesser knowns. The jokes are all family friendly and corny. But the entire show as a whole is very entertaining. You can't help but have fun. It wouldn't be America without an enormous gift shop and the Opry has an excellent one. If you can't find a souvenir here, you aren't trying. You can also get a poster with the names of the artists who performed during that day's show, which is pretty cool. There's a lengthy and unnecessary intermission during the show which should give you at least one opportunity to get that Opry pillow you've always wanted. The Opry tour, distinct from the show, is also excellent. The best part is seeing the dressing rooms and common area for the stars backstage. The dressing rooms are really top notch. The Opry tour and the Opry show are both worth your time and money. And don't forget your souvenir. read more

Historic music venue! I am not a country music fan but enjoyed coming here nonetheless. We came on a Friday night during their Opry 100th year event. We had seats in the upper section but smack dab in the middle. The views were great. There were several acts and they each played 3 songs each. I loved the variety of acts here and it kept things interesting. The seats were interesting as it is one long booth opposed to individual seats. They had a variety of food for sale but we did not purchase anything. The gift shop is huge and had a variety of gifts and souvenirs. Every staff member was so kind here. One thing I noticed is that some Uber drivers don't know where to pick you up if you enter Opry on the app, even though the parking lot after the bridge says it's a designated pick up area for rideshare, so just be mindful of where you are entering your pickup on the app. read more

No visit to Music City is complete without a visit to this historic place. Even though this new location is less than 50 years old, the Opry is turning 100 in November and is the longest running radio show in the world. It's a little faraway - 10 miles from downtown, but rideshares and taxis are easily available. There is a large shopping mall across the street and the Opryland resort nearby. Its always busy, so book your tickets in advance. Even though I booked month's before, I couldn't get the best seats. The seats are designed like church pews and the auditorium looks old school to resemble the Ryman. But the acoustics are excellent and there's not a bad seat in the house. The Saturday show runs from 7 pm to almost 10 pm with a 15 minute break. There were several acts including Martina McBride and Vince Gill. It was definitely something that I will cherish and remember for a very long time. Food and drinks are available inside but are pricey. The only problem that we had, was the almost hour long wait to get an Uber back. read more
5/12/2022 Lifetime bucket list visit of the Grand Ole Opry! This was the Gem of our Nashville stop. Parking 5/5 The parking lot is a wild experience. Numerous attractions from Restaurants, Mall and the Opry compete in a massive parking lot. There are shuttles that pick you up a deliver you on the steps of the Opry. We arrived early for good parking and to eat at the Aquarium Restaurant before the show. Ambiance 5/5 Outside you are greeted by a large acoustic guitar intended for your glamour poses. Beyond that guitar is the Face of the Opry House and the anticipation begins! We were early enough to visit the adjacent Opry store for souvenirs and walk around to take pictures. Venus 5/5 OMGosh pinch me! Once through security you see the decor and seating staff ready to guide you towards your seating area. I purchased second floor balcony front row seats days earlier. Performers 5/5 We enjoyed the Gatlin Brothers and three other groups that full filled our dream of being part of the Grand Ole Opry! After Show Tour 5/5 We did not know you could take a behind the scenes tour after the performance. When we purchased our souvenirs at the store that asked if we might be interested in taking the tour and we jumped on it! The tour is split into multiple groups with a tour guide. Each group progresses through the Performer's back stage entry way, rehearsal stage, prop area, Music Stars mailroom and a dozen or so dressing rooms. The tour also took us through the old "Hew Haw" TV show filming studio. The crescendo of the tour was getting onto the stage. We passed all the musicians equipment and fabulous performers view of the auditorium. Wow just wow! The icing on the cake was professional photographer taking shots of us standing in the famous "Circle" every performer dreams about during their induction to the Grand Ike Opry. My wife and I visited Nashville for the first time in October. During g our stay we went to the Grand Ole Opry and we had such a great time. The music was great. Heard established singers and rising artists. Each singer sings three songs so you hear their favorite picks. Staff was great. We took the backstage tour after the show and simply loved it. The Opry turned 100 this year and we can sure see why it has been so popular for so long! read more

Where to eat near Opry?
There are a number of restaurants nearby & at Opry Mills Mall next door.
Are there any good bars or restaurants before the show to go to that is walking distance to the Grand Old Opry?
Not like there are close to the Ryman. We were very surprised by that. The mall has Chili's and other places like that. There is a Paula Deen place there as well.
We're visiting Nashville for the first time for a weekend. We want to check out the Grand Ole Opry, but don't know any of the performers that will be there when we're in town. Is it still worth attending for the experience?
I would say yes! It's a memorable experience. If you enjoy country music you will enjoy just being there listening to a live performance and watching the broadcast unfold. It's great!
For the Grand Ole Opry House is back of mezzanine better than back of main floor?
NO I think being as close as you can is best even if it's on the floor. They do have big screens to see no matter where you sit.

Parking is at the Mall was not as easy as it is not as easy as one would hope. I walked about for 10 - 15 minutes from where I parked to get to the doors after I dropped the family off. We were there early for the Tour, so the mall was still busy.…

Hoping to go to the opry for one of the 930pm shows, but with an early evening commitment, will be cutting it tight on arriving. I'm assuming the headliner is last? I'm wondering if it's similar format to other concerts.
Usually the concerts are in 3 segments with many different musicians. Yes, in my 2 experiences the headliner has preferment last. A great experience, oy to be missed.
