Had breakfast early one Saturday. Good menu, staff not phased by ordering something other than main brekkies. Food yummy. Coffee very good.

Fresh menu executed superbly every time. BREAD - homemade warm so good PEA SOUP - wow stunned how good it was GRILLED SCALLOPS - tasty but different than use to where like it sautéed FISH SOUP - another winner of a soup. SCHNITZEL - light crispy perfect, side potatoes were so good too WILD SEA BASS - double yum GRILLED FISH SELECTION - from the prixe fix menu it was OK just a little unexpected Presentation was a little lacking. It looked like a leftover mishmash of seafood. CRÈME BRÛLÉE - so good. One of the best had. SOUFFLÉ- worth the wait MUST TRY, so freaking good SERVICE was professional courteous. Water glasses filled unobtrusively, food came out hot and quickly, wine pairing spot on recommendations. DECOR & AMBIANCE - contemporary upscale dining room. Just divine. Reminds me of an upscale French bistro/ bistrot deserving really of a Michelin guide mention. Highly recommend and definitely will be back.

His refined Continental European cuisine is reflected in his menu. The regular menu is supplemented by a prix fixe menu with some tasty choices. The individually crafted desserts are not to missed also. The service was impeccable by the suit & tie servers. With drinks came a board of house-made olive & raisin rolls. Our group of 5 started with a variety of appetizers and all were amazing. Highlights were the Grilled Cuttlefish, smoky in flavor over black wild rice and the twice-baked Cheese Soufflé. The soufflé had an amazing leek sauce. Our friend said her Roasted Jerusalem Artichokes was one of the best salads she's ever had. My son (restaurant namesake) went with a 3 appetizer array as his whole meal with Cheese Croquettes, Grilled Cuttlefish and the Devon Crab Tartare, which was a work of art and taste. The entrees were no less grand. My wife's Wild Sea Bass Fillet was perfect in every way. From the prix fixe menu, my Vienna Schnitzel was super crispy and accompanied by crispy roast potatoes & shredded cabbage. The schnitzel was topped by a rich heritage fried egg embedded with capers & anchovies with flavors that married well with breaded veal. Do not skip dessert! Though the BlackBerry Soufflé might take extra time, it is absolutely worth waiting for. The daily dessert was a Ginger Pudding, though in the UK, it's more a cake with vanilla ice cream and I loved it. For chocolate fiends, the Chocolate Pavé with Chocolate Crumble & Damson Sorbet is killer.

I was greeted with cheerful smiles and friendliness each time. The first time I just went simple with a plain bagel, and they toasted it just enough where it wasn't over-toasted or under-toasted so that the butter wasn't soaking through the bagel. The second time around, I expanded and ordered a basic sandwich; it was a great portion and had lots of freshness from the taste of the ingredients. My partner had an English breakfast, and it was a generous portion as well. The little bites I was offered, that tasted great as well. It's a small little neighbourhood cafe, but I love the vibes and the people. When I come back to London, I will definitely be stopping by again.

I certainly appreciated it for that. They did actually do a decent coffee, which I ended up sitting at the table over the road from the place. Mind you, I probably shouldn't be all that surprised that many of them don't open until later because, well, it turns out that they are pretty close to the city.

Granted, it became easy to become the go-to when we were already staying at the St. Pancras Renaissance that the bar is a part. That and the design and history of the Booking Office bar is so cool, as well as the bartenders who make excellent cocktails -- and know how to make an extra dirty martini. As just stated above, the Booking Office 1869 is located at the St. Pancras Renaissance in King's Cross, London. The now-bar and restaurant first started as the St. Pancras International train station's original ticket hall in the 19th century. And that feel carries on when you visit the bar with the original ticket booths behind the bar counters. The food menu is very good from what I ordered and the cocktails are class. The one night I ordered food, I enjoyed their buttermilk fried chicken that was grand with the sriracha and lime yoghurt. That was wicked tasty. It was just as tasty when I had the leftover cold a couple of days later. The way I gauge a bar ultimately is how they follow the drink orders to an extra dirty gin martini. I am happy to say that the bartender hit that drink out of the park; over and over again. It was class and crisp and full of happiness. I did enjoy from their cocktail menu the Patience that was gin-based and made with Green Chartreuse, olive oil, and lemon perfume that made me feel pretty and strong; strong and pretty. We also had the opportunity to enjoy a cocktail called the Last Word as they were shutting down for the evening our second night there. I had never had it but it was quite the complex herbal cocktail similar to the Patience. It with maraschino liqueur as well that was quite groovy. The Booking Office was one of my favorite bars to frequent in London so far. And it was within the walls of the hotel I was staying! Double plus!
