The Booking Office 1869 became our regular go-to for pre-going out drinks and nightcaps during our recent stay in London. Granted, it became easy to become the go-to when we were already staying at the St. Pancras Renaissance that the bar is a part. That and the design and history of the Booking Office bar is so cool, as well as the bartenders who make excellent cocktails -- and know how to make an extra dirty martini. As just stated above, the Booking Office 1869 is located at the St. Pancras Renaissance in King's Cross, London. The now-bar and restaurant first started as the St. Pancras International train station's original ticket hall in the 19th century. And that feel carries on when you visit the bar with the original ticket booths behind the bar counters. The food menu is very good from what I ordered and the cocktails are class. The one night I ordered food, I enjoyed their buttermilk fried chicken that was grand with the sriracha and lime yoghurt. That was wicked tasty. It was just as tasty when I had the leftover cold a couple of days later. The way I gauge a bar ultimately is how they follow the drink orders to an extra dirty gin martini. I am happy to say that the bartender hit that drink out of the park; over and over again. It was class and crisp and full of happiness. I did enjoy from their cocktail menu the Patience that was gin-based and made with Green Chartreuse, olive oil, and lemon perfume that made me feel pretty and strong; strong and pretty. We also had the opportunity to enjoy a cocktail called the Last Word as they were shutting down for the evening our second night there. I had never had it but it was quite the complex herbal cocktail similar to the Patience. It with maraschino liqueur as well that was quite groovy. The Booking Office was one of my favorite bars to frequent in London so far. And it was within the walls of the hotel I was staying! Double plus! read more

There's so many beautiful spots in London that it's so hard to try them all. Of course you throw in one more things before calling it a night. This place which was recommended by someone is part of Kings Cross train station. Btw, the station was pretty great. Food and shopping one place after the other... Anyways, I was told it was an old booking office. And I think it's also a hotel. We entered from the side of the station on the second floor. First impressions, wow. It gives off that old Hollywood vibes. Massive restaurant bar with dark mood lighting. We didn't have a reservation as we just wanted a night cap before taking the train back to the property. Got seated at one of the hi top tables just along the bar area. And for a Thursday evening, it was busy. Our waiter was great, didn't get his name though. Menu wise for drink was big. They pretty much have everything. We ended up just getting a bottle to split between everyone. The space is great for a gathering with friends or a night out. Nice plush seating, amazing high ceiling and the bar is massive. The opposite side is where the hotel check in is located which also has a really nice lobby. Which i believe is also a bar area. Spaces like these are hidden spot throughout London. It would be a place that I would totally visit again. read more

If you can eventually get the attention of the waitress, delicious food will be eventually be served, and the drinks will eventually arrive, and if you stand and wave your arms, the waitress will finally bring the bill. Sad, for such a nice place. In the future, we shall enjoy dinner elsewhere. read more

We did not stay at the hotel, but we did explore many of the dining options and bars and really loved the architecture at the Booking Office! The ambience here feels classically British and upon entering, you feel immersed in another era beauty and elegance. The staff was polite and full of great recommendations - our bartender was so personable and helpful. The cocktail program here was unexpectedly creative - classic but full of innovative cocktails AND mocktails. We would return to this bar in future visits to London! read more

We wandered into the Renaissance hotel during our recent visit to London at the recommendation of other friends who had visited there earlier. The local local friend we were with suggested we stop into the Booking Office to get a drink. Fortunately, they weren't too busy and got us seated right away. The ambiance was really nice and mellow and a welcome respite from the unusually warm weather. The bar and hotel were beautifully decorated! We had some nuts and cheese snacks. Top notch all the way around. We were guests at the hotel and decided to have breakfast on our 25th Anniversary to start the morning and Olga, the hostess, went above and beyond to make it special. She brought us complementary mimosas to start our meal, which was lovely. Both meals were outstanding! And to top it off, Olga brought us lattes to finish our meal, along with a handwritten postcard wishing us happy anniversary. Very nice touch. And of course the ambience is outstanding, being part of the St. Pancras Renaissance, an iconic and historic hotel. So lovely and well worth it for a special occasion. Highly recommend. read more

Lovely, a nice escape from the station with a helpful amiable staff. With that said, after two visits is just a margin above goods airline food and the portions are skimpy for the price. Ordered a burger and asked for an onion slice only to later be told, "Sir the kitchen advises we have no onions." (The conveyor belt has spoken.) "And we can only prepare it ala shoe leather aka Med Well and it indeed was bone dry. A few friends me my train and had the skimpiest Cacio Pepi ever. This is truly one of the grand and historic places in London and you will not find a more impressive and elegant dining room. It's the perfect place for a special occasion or for a refined cocktail experience in the bar. This was the standout dining experience of our stay in London. Finally came to the infamous Booking Office. From the outside, this place looks absolutely incredible with its high windows and vibe-y furniture. Was able to get seated fairly quickly for coming at a 9pm on a Thursday which I was very surprised about. I ordered the Orchadist and it was absolutely delicious! It honestly tasted more like juice and the alcohol content wasn't a lot which I appreciate. My friends said it was a bit too sweet, but I actually liked the sweetness of it quite a bit. I don't drink a ton, so I'm not 100% sure how to rate the ingredient quality and taste, but I did like it a lot. They also had a pretty interesting clear candy with popcorn bits inside. Didn't taste great but it was interesting to say the least. My one complaint here is that they seem to be severely understaffed and so it took quite a while for us to get our order and get someone to take out order. I will definitely come back though just for the vibe and the drinks! read more

If you're looking for ambience, this is the place. Beautifully decorated, this place has such a cool vibe that feels like it takes you back in history while still being quite present. The food and drink are good. We had the Sunday roast which was delish. The coffee was also really good. Really poor service even though the restaurant wasn't that busy- stood waiting at the entrance while staff were talking - was given a menu then even though it was clear I had finished, I had to ask someone to take my order. I asked for a glass of water and the waitress seemed to think it was better to put glasses on all the empty places before serving me. After 15 mins no coffee so I asked where it was. My breakfast arrived still no coffee and complained to the waitress - would have thought she would have informed a manager but no one came . When the waitress came to clear she reach across me to remove a piece of cutlery - that's a lack of training. The table next to me just asked for a coffee to go because the service was so slow. The staff were not checking the tables or even looking. The food was very good no complaints there. I have been a manager in restaurants and hotels for decades and at this level and prices this should not be the level of service -it would appear to be that the staff have not been trained. read more

Absolutely fantastic appetizers and wine. We couldn't not get enough of the cheese, truffle and honey appetizer (so much so that we ordered two servings for two people!) and the Italian red from Sardinia. Excellent pairing. We had dinner reservations on 4.23.25 and we were excited to stay at the hotel and have dinner. For starters the "server" should probably just stayed at home, he clearly did not want to be at work and was . Disinterested in our party. We had to flag down other waiters for refills on our water and ended up just going to the bar for refills as the night wore on. We asked for the wine menu to order a 2nd glass and he didn't bother coming bag. The chicken was as dry as a bone and tasted like it had been sat in an oven dessicating over the course of the day (most likely a lunch left over). Charcuterie was good everything else was bland and not what I would expect from this establishment. Food aside - the service was shameful and it was our first night in London and we did not realize the service charge had been included. I definitely would not of paid that as we clearly had shameful service! I would like someone to reach out to speak to about this as you really should not have servers like this representing you. This is the perfect spot to hide away if you are waiting to take a train at King's Cross. They will hold your bags while you dine/drink with them. The drink selection is fantastic. The service is wonderful. The wine sommelier is so helpful and kind. The ambiance alone is a reason enough to visit. I would pin this place as one of the top hotel bars I have ever been to. We called in for lunch. This restaurant has a superb location where the architecture is as amazing as the food. The high ceilings, ornate brick and stonework look out over the magnificent arch of St Pancras International Railway Station where Eurostar trains sit poised to head off to Paris, Amsterdam etc and all continental Europe. Our waitress, Veselina, was attentive and personable. I ordered a chicken liver parfait followed by pork belly with mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts. My partner had the Niçoise salad followed by a chicken dish. All was first class, washed down with a glass of local beer. If you are in the area this is a must see place. The bill was reasonable, as a gratuity charge is included. Next time we're in town we will return. read more

Came here mid-week for drinks late afternoon. Great venue, doesn't feel like you're in a train station! Has an almost 1920's vibe about it. Cocktails were good: the Adorer was nice as was the the Orchadist (if you like pear). Had some snacks - cod croquettes were delicious and the fried chicken was good. The service was good but as the place got busier, around 6.30, the staff seemed to get a bit confused - brought us drinks that we had already received, weren't sure if we had our bill etc. I think they were just busy. We came here to try the special Harry Potter drinks I had read about. However, the staff here weren't too knowledgeable about the drinks. I really want to see the spectacle of the cocktail creation. I wanted to try the most themed drink. I ordered the Butterscotch Brew but I thought would be like the famous Butter Beers like at Universal Studios, but this was nothing like it! First off, it's a hot drink and most importantly, it was disgusting. The server came over to ask us how we liked the drinks and I told her that honestly, I didn't care for it, but unlike in the States where staff would try to offer a remedy, the reply was pretty much, well yeaaa.. As if she knew the drink was awful or that she straight up didn't care. This was not great service. Mixed feelings depending on who waits on you. Very hot environment and dark ambience. Food and drink were good but not great. The waiter Chai was courteous , attentive and professional on our first night. Our waiter the second night ignored us for 10 minutes. We watched him be combative and snitty with other wait staff and customers. We walked out and returned the next night requesting Chai. For dinner we highly recommend Searcys, the restaurant directly next door in the station, which is always excellent and about the same price. read more

Went in for a drink and a late small plate. Gorgeous decor and relatively quiet. Drinks and chicken bites with a spicy dip were tasty. For a restaurant inside of a train station it is very nice. A very casual place inside a very busy train station! Very dim lighting with lots of well dressed business people gives the place an upper scale vibe. They have a really nice cocktail menu as well with lots of tasty choices. They also have live music as you get later into the evening which is a nice treat once dinner is done. The menu here has a variety of different options from burgers to fancy steaks and fish. I was on my way so I order the short rib and burrata. The short rib was cooked perfectly, it was very tender and had just the right amount of sauce on it to not destroy the bread it was on. The chips were also fantastic. The burrate was def my favorite part of the meal here. Nice gooey center with some warm bread really warmed up the night. Came here for lunch on the whim after going to Saint Pancras station. The 40 foot high ceilings and Gothic decor are impressive. The tables are small but sufficient for all the food we ordered. We ordered the cappuccino which excellcomes with a little chocolate wafer floating on the foam. The cappuccino come with wee little, round pale butter cookies that were quite tasty. We ordered the duck nuggets with ketchup, the ham hock pizza with morels, fish and chips, and tiramisu. Pizza had a tangy tomato sauce which paired well with the ham and mushrooms. Duck nuggets were deep fried, and were ok, Not Great. Fish was ok as well, slightly underdone towards the middle. Loved the pea mash and yellow horse radish sauce. Free WiFi. Well hello beautiful! The ambience of the booking office inside of the historic train station @ St. Pancras hotel is pretty impressive. Soaring ceilings with lots of greens, dim lighting, dark Rich woods & huge central open Bar lend themselves to create a warm cozy and clubby feel. Unfortunately, the food Fell short of my initial expectations. The Cocktail list is nice but rather short and basic. They do make a great old-fashioned however. Nice beer and wine and service is fairly attentive. The first night we came for dinner and drinks and while my husband enjoyed his Branzino the much touted house burger with caramelized onions and béarnaise sauce fell quite short of the mark in my opinion. The bun was nice enough, but the meat was very dry and if there was any béarnaise sauce on it I could not tell. They were only a few onions and the fries were lackluster. Considering this was a 20+ euro burger I cannot recommend it. We came back the next night just for drinks and to enjoy the above mentioned ambience. So, I guess that's my best recommendation , come for a drink and soak up this beautiful historic space. read more

The ambiance was a great balance of cozy and modern, and the food + drink menus offered plenty of options without being overwhelming. My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the St. Pancras hotel for our honeymoon. Long days walking about in London called for early nights, and unfortunately we never got a chance to have dinner or even a nightcap at The Booking Office. On our last day in London, however, we were out of bed early enough to grab breakfast and a coffee down at the proper (but not so quaint) 'hotel bar'. I would say at the very least you must give the Breakfast a shot. I had the berry pancakes and my wife got the Eggs Benedict - I would order them both again, however the coffee was our favorite part. This was by far the BEST latte we had on our entire trip to Europe. If you don't get a chance to eat or drink here, I hope you've at least taken the time to marvel at the 40' high ceilings and fascinating decor. Well done, Renaissance. read more
