Dwayne and the other mover were fantastic. I purchased some furniture from Goodwill on Saturday evening. They told me they would only hold it until Monday evening and after that they could only offer store credit if someone else bought the items, no refunds. I work a swing shift on Sundays and Mondays so I needed movers very last minute and within a small window of time. I called Kama'aina as soon as they were open at 7 AM Sunday, and they were able to meet me right away. When I had to postpone an hour they were accomodating. They were professional, careful, and efficient. I'll definitely use them again if I need things moved. I highly recommend them! read more

Dwayne was very reassuring on the phone....My movers Micheal and Herman worked really hard to move my stuff from an old house which sat in the back of another house...alot of walking! to a studio which sat above a garage! (more stairs and walking!) they worked non stop..with a smile and cheerful disposition...it took it 4 hours to move me...but they only charged me for 3 hours! word of advice...please tell movers if the driveway is wide enough for their truck to turn around....also remember that these boys will go from one job to another...many times not eating or just grabbing something on the way....an offer of mango in a bowl for a snack was greatly appreciated and alot of ice water! The guys were so understanding even when I made an appointment but had to cancel it when they arrived due to a problem I had with the warehouse holding my stuff. They came back 3 days later loaded everything and then helped my Mom deliver it to the Young Brother dock. Dwayne reconfirmed the meeting time the day prior and the guys showed up right on time. All's well that ends well. Starting at the end, the moving was awesome. Nothing broke, and we had a lot of fragile items. They did an excellent job of wrapping the furniture, some of which was vintage and very fragile. Dwayne himself was on site and he kept everybody on their toes. And my first two experiences with Dwayne were excellent. After he came out and looked at the job, we talked on the phone and went over all of the details, including how many trucks, and the two storage areas that had to be emptied plus the house, the schedule for the day and so on. It was what happened in between that conversation and the move itself that led me to give 4 stars. Dwayne said he would call the day before just to confirm. By 2:30 he hadn't called, so I called him. He said, "Oh yeah, we'll be there. What's the address again? How many trucks did we say?" That was not very professional. The next morning, moving day, as agreed I was at one of the storage places by 7:30. At 7:28 they called and said it would be better if I met them at the other storage place across town! So I drove over there, the truck shows up, then the guys said they were not there to empty the place, another truck was coming. I said, "Then you guys are going to the house?" and he said, "Do you want us to go to the house?" Duh. As a result, I really wondered if I had made a mistake hiring them. Plus the trucks didn't have their name on them, the back gate was broken on one of the trucks, and they dropped one of the very first boxes - fortunately, it didn't have breakable items. So my feeling is that moving is super stressful, and by these events on the morning of the move, it raised my stress level 1000% . Again, all's well that ends well and I would use them again because ultimately what's important is the end result. And the end result was great. read more

I read a lot of the reviews on yelp about Kama Aina movers before I called them. Dwayne the owner answered the phone every time without me having to leave a message. (Like most businesses now a days!). They showed up 15 mins early rather than 15 mins late, and started wrapping our precious household goods with blankets and plastic wrap, and devising a plan to move us from our 16th floor condo in Waikiki! With expert direction by Dwayne the owner, who over saw the entire operation, they Meticulously packed the truck with our household goods not to damage them in anyway. Then they drove across the island to Kapolei and immediately started unloading our precious goods into our garage and our second floor condominium. Difficult as it was to get up and down the stairs, they did a fantastic job. All in all the move was perfect. The workers were polite, curtious and careful. My move was not expected at all, my landlord told me that Im moving out next month. It hit me hard because it was totally unprepared for. I looked around movers I only had one week. Dwayne was very friendly to offer me best deal for the job, I explained him my requirement he suggested me with best option. When movers got to new condo, I was originally told that My movers will use elevators exclusively since I was paying to use elevator. But it wasnt like that when I got there. And condo management is telling me that I have one hour and 30 min before they shut down elevator. Good moving service. Arrived 1/2 hour early with a crew of 4. They were careful with fragile items and had a good system to stage things to and from the elevator and load the truck. I just moved here from Georgia on a job transfer and the company I intentionally hired before let me down! I wish I knew their name but it doesn't matter! I had a 12 foot container with no one to help me offload. One of the guys at the container yard suggested Kaima Aina movers. At this time I didn't care who showed up! I called and spoke with Dewayne. I told him my situation and in less than 15 minutes, him and his crew was there with 4 guys and 2 trucks. It only took them 20 minutes to offload the container with nothing being damaged! Kama'aina Movers are a life saver! They were able to help me move out of my apartment last minute. I called on a Tuesday for a Thursday afternoon appointment. When we were at the storage place (Hawaii Self Storage in Pearl City is also amazing!), I was having issues with the elevator. At the end of the move, I expected and prepared myself to pay for the full 3.5-4 hours (I wasn't sure if they charged by the nearest half hour or hour, but it technically took about 3.5 hours), but they just charged me for 3 hours because they said the elevator issue wasn't my fault. I've never hired movers before, but I felt like if it was almost anyone else, they would try to take advantage of the extra time. The only downside I could think of is that they were running late, but never called me, I had to call them. It ended up working out though because I was still doing last minute packing. All in all they were amazing. Even though they have a minimum of 2 hours, their pricing was still pretty affordable. I would definitely call them again when I have to move my things out of storage! read more

They were scheduled for 1:30, but I requested that they come as early as possible, and there were there at 11. Done by 12. We actually did our move on Oct. 29th; but couldn't post about it until now. If my name looks familiar it's because you might have seen it on the posting for Aloha Family Moving. What a disaster that experience (still ongoing) has been. The experience with the Kama'aina Movers was totally opposite in a refreshing, welcoming way. Mario, the driver, & 3 other men came along & a good thing we had them all. Even though we were only moving 2 miles away, there were 32 steps we had to navigate. After wrapping carefully our big furniture, as we had the majority of our items packed & ready to go, we emptied the house in about an hour & a half. What a terrific job they did in literally "lugging" up that whole truck full with some very heavy items sprinkled in & on a very hot day. Total time it took for the entire move was 2 1/4 hrs. They certainly earned every penny of the cost, which was at a discount thanks to Dwayne whom Mario called in to verify that we indeed had our items ready to go. The bottom line is that we would be happy to use them again if the occasion arises & would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for good quality, hard-working guys to do the job! Wow! This company is absolutely awesome!!! I wanted a moving company ASAP so I wouldn't have to pay another month of storage. I was quoted a flat rate, they scheduled a date right away, and they were right on time, to the minute. I just told them what I needed and got into my car and came back home. From Kapolei to Honolulu (city)...took them less than 45 minutes to load up the truck and come to my residence. Then they handled each box with care as if there were crystal in them. I am on the second floor (walk-up) and they were done so quickly, it was amazing. The guys were so courteous and so professional. They even helped me move a couple of pieces of furniture that were misplaced by the carpet installers, no problem. The service and the professionalism of these two were just unbelieveable. I've never dealt with a company with such service. This is the model company for anyone who owns a business; I was just awestruck. Oh, and their prices are very reasonable. I hired Kama'aina Movers on 4/14/14 based on their terrific Yelp reviews and I was very pleased that I did! I was a little unsure about hiring them at first, because some of the Yelp reviews noted that the movers did not arrive on time. I have kids to pick up from school, so I really needed the move to be completed by around 2:00. Sure enough, as scheduled, at 8:00 the movers arrived and were ready to go. I hired 2 trucks and 4 men (I just have too much junk). I ended up with 2 trucks and 6 men, but was charged the price quoted for 4 men. Of course, I was very happy with the fact that Kama'aina Movers sent more men to do the job since I had a lot of things to move and it took less time as a result. I did not get the names of all the movers, but I think the gentleman who took the lead was named Kimo. He was very polite and helped make the move go along as painlessly as possible. The other movers were great too. The movers were very careful with moving my things and not banging into walls. They even removed their shoes when they entered my house that had just had new cream colored carpet installed. The cost of the move was very reasonable. I was given just five days to move out of my old apartment and into a new one, so I was relieved when Dewayne was able to book me with just a few days of advance notice. I only had five pieces of furniture to transport (2 beds, a mirror and two small tables), and my new place is just a mile from my old one, so the entire move took just 30 minutes! The team -- Raymond, Keanu and Mike -- were fantastic: friendly, efficient and professional. Considering what a small job this was, the price felt pretty steep ($360 + tip), but Dewayne had been completely upfront with me on the phone and explained that there was a 2 hour minimum, and the job would require at least three people (someone needed to be in the truck at all times, since there was no parking lot/loading zone at my new apartment). So, I can't complain about the price since I agreed to it, but if I'd had more time, I might've done more research to see if I could find a cheaper alternative. That said, if you do have a larger moving job, Kama'aina is the place to go! read more

This find was a dream come true. I called and described what I had and he advised what he thought I would need. The move was from a 1 bedroom home to another one bedroom home. There were on time, efficient, courteous and made sure that things were how I wanted before they left. They plastic wrapped the matress and my dresser and there was no damage to anything on either end. The only issue was there was a mix up in days. Dwayne immediately rectified the situation and while the move was a day early, it got done. They were closing down the day before they actually did my move and went ahead and opened and did my move and someone elses. He was never argumentative or blaming and basically took "the customer is right and how can I fix it" approach. Moving is so stressful and the situation I was moving out of was stressful, so I didnt need the move itself ot be stressful. It wasnt. Dwayne and CREW.....THANK YOU!!!!!! I have had horrendous service with two local well known moving companies on Oahu. The first one left part of my bed frame in the elevator of the condo I was moving from and did not want to retrieve it until the next day and overcharged me. The next moving company took their sweet time by 5 hours to move my things that should of just taken 3 hours to move. I was not having high hopes about the next company. Kama'aina Movers blew my opinion of moving companies to whole different level. The moving team was extremely knowledgeable and professional. They arrived on time, quickly moved my things and charged me exactly what they told me what they were going to charge me. I kept having to pinch myself that they are the real deal.
