I had been having great check ups, then they started saying they had concerns. There was also a lot of staff turnover. I would also get phone calls from them, but they were looking for another patient. Recently every time I went in there were "problems". They told me that I had a small cavity and needed to replace a crown. The quote was $400. I showed up today for my appointment ( after being called and told my appointment was tomorrow, but it turned out they were looking for another patient again) and was told it was two cavities and the crown replacement and the total out of pocket would be $800. I told them that was what was quoted, and that a second cavity was never mentioned. I have not had a cavity since I was in my 20's. This seems like they are recommending unnecessary work. I politely let them know that I would not be having the work done and finding a new dentist. I am wondering if the office has been sold recently.

My teeth are in great shape but build plaque pretty quickly. I had to change dental practices because, after 7 years, Ellenton Family Dental was no longer accepting my insurance plan (United Concordia Dental). At Greenberg, I was offered (for the next appointment) a more extensive cleaning, of which my insurance only covers part. I asked for a treatment plan and it was printed out immediately. The treatment my insurance doesn't cover is called HybenX (according to their computer system). As a recently retired healthcare administration company owner, I do my research through medical channels before saying yes to anything outside of insurance coverage. After finding a study through PubMed https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8147150/ This cleaning not only destroys certain bacteria stuck to the plaque and gums, it softens the plaque so there is supposedly far less picking at the teeth during scaling. Greenberg will give you an information sheet for HybenX. The study had internal funding only through a university in Italy and disclosed that (but, you never know who funds the university, unless you dig deeper, I did not.) Everything I find online appears positive for the use of HybenX during dental prophylaxis. I'll let you know if the actual scaling of my teeth is far less annoying than previous picking methods. I'll never know if the bacteria are less........which of course can come back tomorrow. If all is well, I'll be a happy dental consumer. I'll also be citing the PubMed article to my dental plan and ask why it isn't covered. (Keep in mind the non-coverage in Greenberg's system is based on administrative decisions, not the dental plan.)

Greenberg quote reflects an additional fictitious code D1111 called Cosmetic upgrade $500. When I questioned this charge, I got two different answers from two locations. The first stated that the Doctor would not do the crown for $400! The other one stated that it is an insurance in the events it falls, the doctor will replace it. In other words, an insurance for my insurance premium! Unfortunately, Delta Dental keeps listing Greenberg as a provider despite my filed grievances. Fortunately, I found another provider with 40 years of experience honoring my insurance fees.

Beware! #### Hello - Yesterday I had my six month cleaning at your office and following the appointment, I was told by the hygienist that due to current scheduling, she was not able to book me a new 6-month cleaning appointment and instead had to book my next appointment for 12 months out. Six month cleaning intervals have always been the gold standard of dental care. After expressing my concern, she said she could put me on a waitlist for a cancellation in six months. This is very disappointing on multiple levels. First, it is clear Lakewood Ranch Dental has taken on more patients than it can properly service which is now compromising patient health care. Second, the proposed solution of a waitlist for last minute cancellations is wholly inadequate especially for working professionals who frequently travel out of state. Advanced scheduling is a must. After expressing my disappointment, the hygienist explained that LWR Dental's schedule is so full because of frequent last minute cancellations (ostensibly the reason for your recently published updated cancellation policy). While I have no reason to doubt that is a current challenge for you, the fact is this is a LWR Dental business process issue of its own making that has now become your customers' problem. I challenge you to find an adequate solution to this situation or I will be forced to find a different service provider. This would be unfortunate because I really like Dr. Auletta, but your business processes needs immediate management attention.

Because it's "Thank You Thursday" on YELP and I had some major work done today by Dr. Dave, who is my regular dentist and has been taking good care of me for more than a decade, at beyond reasonable prices as I don't have insurance or much money for the type of work I need. His awesome assistant, Janet was on a well-deserved vacation, so I had the pleasure of Dr. Steve's wonderful assistant, Maria, who without knowing it helped to ease the pain of a rather complicated procedure by distracting my nerves, like stepping on my toe but without the pain Thanks, Tracy for always getting back to me promptly, managing to schedule me in, and putting up with my PITA whining at checkout I'm so fortunate to have gotten my place there and Dr. David keeping me as a patient.
