When I say I am the WORST patient when it comes to getting in the dental chair, I mean it! After several terrible experiences as a child that made me so beyond afraid of the dentist, I avoid any dental office like the plague and when it does come time to go, I need ALL the things to make me calm and relaxed in that chair....until I was lucky enough to find Simply Smiles. The fear and anxiety I have was understood and I was treated with such care and compassion. Alex was so wonderful and gentle- she truly made me as calm as I could be under the circumstances and explained everything to me before it happened. Dr. Szef is an angel on Earth and is a true gem. I couldn't have asked for a more caring set of hands for my anxiety driven self. I have complete trust and faith in her and know she will execute her vision for my smile with the utmost care and compassion. Carmen and Sherri are phenomenal and they will move mountains to make sure you receive the absolute BEST care possible. Hannah will give you the best cleaning of your life and is just pure joy. I had been in the service business 53 years. If a problem arose,I fixed it free. Well not here. Had a cleaning in November. Two weeks later I went to an oral surgeon for a different reason and was told I needed a cleaning of plaque. Went back to discuss the problem because they wouldn't return my calls,and was given every excuse under the sun as to how plaque can build up within weeks. I've been going there since 2015 and I love everyone there. It's an amazing team, starting with Dr Gekht to the receptionists. My dental hygienist, Hanna is the best. She takes her time to insure I'm comfortable. She lets me know what's going on, she pleasant and always has a smile on her face. She is thorough and I walk out with my pearly whites glistening. Carmen is the office manager and she does a great job keeping everything running smoothly. When I walk through the doors, there is no stress just lots of people who want to make sure your ok and your teeth are taken care of. I said I've been going there for about 10 years and I've had my share of dental issues (cavities, cleaning, root canal, invisiline, whitening), but each and every time I've been very happy with my care team and their course of treatment. read more

BEFORE YOUR VISIT - read the end of this review Friend of mine (uninsured) had a tooth break and Simply Smiles saw her the next day. She friend asked me to come along because she has little experience navigating medical care.. and is currently on a very fixed income. She thought I could help weed through the medical red tape. My initial recommendation was she should visit LEECOM where they provide free and low cost medical services within her budget - but she assured me her phone conversation with a SS receptionist confirmed they could perform a fix for $85. That didn't sound plausible, but I came along anyway. The next 45 minutes was the most chaotic medical triage you could imagine. After a shotgun blast of medical warnings and x-rays, I could see this wasn't the visit we signed up for. I stopped the tech and explained this wasn't a viable treatment plan - not only did this patient not have budget, but the tooth had already sustained multiple fillings and to repair it would basically be moonshot. A friend of mine (who had recently been down this path with his molars) advised me that pulling teeth is a much cheaper alternative because crowns and root canals have high chance of failure (but are preferred by dentists who can bill to insurance) I pulled the dentist into the room and explained this. And I couldn't get a straight answer. It was like trying to cancel a gym membership. This lack of competence, and the fact that I felt lied to about my expectations for this visit, made me very upset. On top of this, the psychological trauma of this visit was immense. Quite literally, the fear they were pumping into this girl about her tooth was manufacturing a problem she didn't have. There was no pain before or after, only‼during the visit ‼ while they were persuading her that she had an infection and needed to spend thousands of dollars immediately to save her mouth. Here's the bombshell A week later, I heard about a free dental clinic offered pro-bono by nearby dentists. She visited Dr Middleton on Bee Ridge. He looked at the tooth and gave a COMPLETELY different diagnosis. He said (1) the tooth was not at risk of infection, and (2) is not a near-term emergency. I went back to simply smiles. I talked to Carmen. She followed up with both dentists. Her report back to me was she would NOT refund our visit even though we felt lied to about the expectations of the visit. She said ,"Dr Middleton is not a specialist". I said back, "it feels like you're covering up organizational incompetence". She said something that basically told me she didn't know what that meant. ‼ My advice - before you see a dentist. Spend 5 minutes asking ChatGPT about options, what things will cost, and have a treatment plan in mind. Otherwise you'll be in triage purgatory by with professionals whose problem-solving abilities have shrunk to the blank slate of 8.5x11 insurance worksheets . read more

Recently, I had my annual cleaning at Simply Smiles. I love my dentist, Dr. Rivera, and the entire staff! Dr. Gehkt has put together an amazing facility. It is worth noting that Jacqueline (spelling?) did the most amazing, thorough cleaning I've ever had in my life! Additionally, she gave me some insightful ideas to continue to keep my teeth clean. After reading the other one star reviews I feel so validated! BEWARE- I had the exact same experience of being scammed, saying $$$ work was necessary that wasn't at all! I'm really diligent about brushing/flossing and get 2-3 cleanings per year. I've never had an issue with my teeth. When they measured my gums its was the most painful experience I've ever had, they were shoving the instrument so deep and my gums were bleeding. They told me I had major gum recession and signs of periodontal disease, needed an antibiotic and a deep clean/descale. I had just had my teeth cleaned 5 months prior with zero issue and have never had more than a "3" on my teeth. I thanked them but asked if they would just do the regular cleaning... to which they refused and said I had to have the extremely expensive cleaning/treatments etc. or nothing at all. I had a really uneasy feeling about what they were claiming, so I went with my gut and declined their deep clean and left (feeling so anxious about how my gums could possibly be in that shape). I immediately called my other regular dentist I had seen 5 months prior and they said it would be extremely odd for this to be true considering what they saw and urged me to get a second opinion. Thank goodness I was able to get into another dentist (Tarpon shores is the best!!!). I explained the experience to their dentist and that I was really worried about my gums. He took almost an hour taking photos, X-rays, etc. and then showing me/explaining how everything was not only normal but extremely healthy. I didn't have any of the problems simply smiles claimed I did and did not need a single treatment they claimed I did. Also, when he examined my gums there was no blood or pain because they weren't forcing the instrument as deep as possible to try to get a faulty diagnoses of periodontal issues. I'm sooo glad I didn't believe them and was able to find an honest dentist! read more

Nico, the receptionist was friendly and helpful. When I arrived from my appointment today after work, I received a sincere and warm welcome from Chelcie and Niko in the reception area. , my dental hygienist came to bring me into one of the exam rooms. She explained everything in detail before she work on my teeth. She is very professional, and kind, and gentle when working on your teeth.She did a fantastic job! After my teeth cleaning, Dr. Gekht came and we had a great conversation about my teeth and what might need to be done to them down the road. Dr. Gekht is very professional, honest and not pushy. I have been a patient of Dr. Gekht for decades, and I cannot imagine seeing anyone else. I first consulted her for dental care of my elderly father to whom she provided common sense, expert care. She quickly became our cherished family dentist, trustworthy in every respect. Currently she is providing treatment for a dental implant that is needed for a cracked tooth, with supplemental care by her esteemed colleague, Dr. Zuly, Dr Gekht kindly worked me in for same-day emergency treatment on 2 separate occasions, with complete resolution of the problems both times. Not a great experience. Insurance coverage used up in first couple weeks with x-rays, Etc. Had a deep cleaning. Dental assistant missed a quadrant, had to go back, charged again: now out of pocket. Dentist did work on a tooth. My teeth didn't hurt when I went in, now my teeth hurt on left side. Taking antibiotics hoping it fixes the pain. No insurance left. Cannot recommend. read more
