I have taken my different cats to this vet since 2009. They are always attentive to your pets needs. They will spend the time to do a thorough exam and answer any questions you have. They will give you an estimate on prices so you can decide if you want to proceed or not with any further procedures. They never make you feel rushed. I followed the vets advice on Pebbles last visit ( 2023 ) to lose weight and this visit (2025), Pebbles lost the almost 5 lbs they wanted her too. The vet was very pleased that l followed through and commended me a few times for it. I would recommend these vets to others. Poor customer service. They don't answer the phone and when they returned my call they mentioned nothing of the questions I asked. I believe my dog was dying and instead of being helpful they tried to scare me with after hours charges. They said had I called they would have directed me to St. George. There are things I don't like about this place, which I'm not going to get into (because it's a bit on the political side). Instead, I will tell you what's great, and what would give them 5+ stars: Dr. Tara and Dr. Patti. They are wonderful vets, and a blessing to our furbabies. Dr. Tara, in particular, is wonderful with my extremely shy dog. There are only 2 people who can touch her (1 being me), and she lets Dr. Tara handle her. She's so skilled and kind and gentle and knowledgeable. If you need things like ultrasounds, Dr. Patti is your godsend. She's absolutely wonderful. So, no matter what I think about other issues, I will only take my shy dog to Dr. Tara, and my other 2 dogs i would take to Dr. Patti, too (not that she's not good with shy dogs, i just KNOW Dr. Tara is). This is not to say the other vets there are not equally as skilled, but i tend to stick with what/who i know and have built trust with. ​ read more

Dr Tara Timpson and her assistant Betsy are fantastic. I have only visited this office one time, but I feel it was a great success. We have had a chronic problem with our dog (Daisy), and I've tried many traditional methods (including diet and medication) to help her. I prefer to avoid pharmaceutical solutions where possible for my family and pets. I saw a news story online about homeopathic veterinarians, and eventually I looked on a website to locate a homeopathic veterinarian near me. I wasn't sure what I would find or how I would like this approach. Dr Tara is the name that I found. I was willing to make the long drive to see if I could discover any inkling of a better solution for Daisy. I'm super grateful to have found Dr. Tara. I left feeling empowered and hopeful with a whole toolbox of many natural solutions. Dr. Tara spent a lot of time with me, and she gave me many environmental things to watch out for that can trigger problems for my dog (Daisy), natural solutions to soothe discomfort, and we are trying a diet and homeopathic solution as well. Most importantly, I have seen an improvement in my dog almost instantly, and I think she looks happier! I intend to continue taking my dog to Dr. Tara and Betsy. We have just moved to Kanab, UT and my little dog was having allergic reactions to something. It isn't something totally new with her so I was giving benedryl and when I found hotspots, I put tea tree oil on them. HUGE MISTAKE! Tea tree is TOXIC AND CAN EVEN KILL!! The folks here were so very helpful! They saw my girl without any kind of appointment, ran the necessary tests to see if there was any organ damage, and made sure that all was well! Dr Gibson was friendly and thorough and explained things so it was easy to understand. The office staff was friendly and helpful. It has taken me a few years to write this because our experience at Kanab Veterinary Hospital was traumatic and immensely frustrating. On October 17, 2020, our 6-month old puppy George ate a small item of clothing while on a trip to Kanab, Utah. George had done this before and our vet back home induced vomiting to quickly make him throw it up as he was too small to let the sock item pass on its own. We decided to take George to Kanab Veterinary Hospital to induce vomiting. However, their vet highly recommended that we do not induce vomiting but perform an $800 barium study where they fed George barium and watched him for 8 hours to then do an x-ray to see if there were any blockages in his GI tract. My partner and I were hesitant because we knew how simple and painless inducing vomiting would be. However, the vet said that this is all that they could do. So we agreed to do the barium study and x-ray, a $1200 cost. They told us they'd call to let us know when George was ready to be picked up and to review x-rays. We waited 10 long hours. We heard nothing from the hospital. We called ourselves and learned that George has been ready for hours, and they were charging us for every additional hour they had to "board" George. Of course, they made us pay before getting George back or seeing the x-ray results. Now the cost was well over $1500. We sat down with the vet and she told us that the barium study and x-ray was inconclusive, just a few gas bubbles in his intestines which may or may not indicate a blockage. My partner and I were left with no helpful information or guidance. We still needed to get the item of clothing out, but now 12 hours had passed and the item of clothing was moving farther down George's system. We still needed to induce vomiting, so we asked the Vet if it was safe to wait until the following morning to drive all the way back to southern California to see our own vet to induce vomiting. She said yes. We take George back to our motel room. Around 10pm, it becomes clear that George is not okay. He starts drooling, swaying side to side, and his eyes are not focused. We immediately call Kanab Veterinary Hospital. The vet is not there, only the vet tech. She reads George's chart which said George will NOT make it through the night unless he gets immediate attention. We were so confused and frustrated. A minor issue became a dire emergency. At 10:30pm we drove through the night to Las Vegas, where we saw a legitimate emergency veterinarian. They quickly did an x-ray and saw the item of clothing was completely blocking where the stomach and the intestine meet. George now needed emergency surgery which cost us $5000. We slept in our car, anxiously waiting to hear if George was okay. They successfully removed the item, but our sweet little puppy had to get 22 staples across his entire torso. It took months for him to recover. Kanab Veterinary Hospital put George's life at risk to make a quick buck and take advantage of two out-of-towners. They were dishonest and untrustworthy. Thanks to the Vet in Las Vegas, George is happy and healthy. I'm only writing this to protect other pet owners. Please be careful of this place. read more

When I called, they were so professional, helpful & considerate. After extensive quizzing about the injury it was determined we needed an appointment. Before the call ended they made sure I knew what to do until we could come in. At the appointment Dr. Patty was kind & professional. She fixed our girl up & gave us detailed instructions on how to care for the wound, along with the needed supplies. A few days later we received a follow-up call. Our girl has healed very well. I have been a client of the Kanab Veterinary Hospital since 2006 even before Dr. Ballard bought it. Despite the many mistakes that the hospital has made over the years I remained a loyal and friendly client. This included the time when in Dec 2016 my petsitter put two of my dogs together against my explicit instructions, having been warned, many times, in writing and verbally that one of the dogs can be severely dog aggressive. When a fight ensued, she locked both dogs in a room to fight it out, and waited half an hour to call me. She told me that "all is quiet now" and "your dog is probably dead." She refused to check on the dogs and it took a lot of coaxing to get her to open the door and even look. Eventually, I convinced her to look. The dogs were bleeding out but breathing. Again with much more coaxing she took them to Kanab Vet. Thus Kanab Vet was well aware of the damage that this petsitter caused. The dog that nearly died came out of surgery and was given to me in the waiting room. The dog became unstable right there and I was told by Kanab Vet staff to take it to St George (80 miles away) "because we are closing because it's Christmas eve". It was 1 pm. A clinic in St George that they called wisely informed them "It does not sound like the dog will make it here". Yet Kanab Vet insisted I take the dog. I got very lucky that Best Friends agreed to take him and they saved him. He had a collapsed lung and had to remain in their ICU overnight. Yet still I remained loyal to the clinic, understanding they are small and can't do everything. But it was a sign of things to come. The petsitter never admitted her wrongdoing, was vague about what happened, and never offered to pay for the vet bills, which were substantial. Yesterday I found out Kanab Vet hired this very petsitter, who nearly killed my dogs, as a "vet tech". She has no training so obviously I use the term loosely. I had appointments today at the clinic for my annual visits and so I immediately emailed Dr. Ballard with all the details of the incident as well as the surveillance footage that I have of the incident. I imagined Dr. Ballard had not been aware who she was when they hired her. I followed the email up with a phonecall, requesting to speak with him. Instead I got a vet tech, who told me she would print him the email. There was no reply. When I called today to get my records transferred, there was no mention of attempting to resolve the issue. Apparently, Dr. Ballard would rather have a person who nearly killed someone's pets working in his office, "caring" for animals, than save the relationship with a client who has been loyal and stuffed thousands of dollars in his pocket. Go there at your own risk, especially if this "vet tech" is taking care of your animals. I highly recommend Dr. Rountree in Page for small animals. I find him to be a better, more precise veterinarian, and his office is much better about fitting in emergencies. read more

Love the vet (Dr. Patti) but the fees are extremely high by comparison to other clinics I've been. They are commensurate to that of an Emergency Clinic. If your pet is ill and you don't think you can wait days... or more for an appointment, they consider that an emergency and charge additional. So if you need animal care within 48 hrs. be prepared to pay a hundred bucks before even seeing the vet!! read more

I had my rescue female spayed at the hospital. It has been twelve days and the incision is extremely red and the area around the incision is also red. She is still having to wear the cone because she keeps trying to lick the wound. I have called for several days now and still no response. The receptionist is very abrupt and curt and responds that they will call, but no response. I even send photos of the red and angry wound but that did not generate a response. The receptionist suggested I see another vet. After paying $250.00 dollars you would think they would be kind enough to suggest a solution. My poor dog does not deserve that kind of treatment.
