Kanakuk Kamps are THE best in camps! I always wanted to go there as a kid but vowed my kids would be able to go. All three boys were campers and counselors. Not only did they take fabulous care of them while there were campers but the counselor (and CIT) training made them the successful and Godly men they are today!! A lot has changed over the past few years now I'm going now as I write with and from what I've read the place has changed now i cant speak for all to the camps but i can for two K-7 and K-kountry they were amazing now right now the corona virus is going around and they are taking huge safety precaution right now they are on the edge of cancelling but its still going to happen now onto the camps themselves they have wonderful and nice counselors and the party's are amazing and you are not being pressured to do things and each cam has there own good about them K-7 i had just done my first year there for the age you need to be to get in 12-18 the actives and the amount of learning was amazing there was a rock wall and sailing and so much more and the walk with Christ you have is amazing you are able to sit and watch your friends do it they keep boys and girls tee pees away from each other and have curfew for reasons but you do the actives with the guys the party's are really fun and thought out and they don't care if you don't have a outfit for it now for K country its different from K-7 they have actives what are made for the age group 6-11 and the boys and girls are separated as in all camps and with the biggest party they then go to the water park they have next to it to celebrate it and the food ever where is amazing and they really think about safety and lot in all camps they let you do what you want under the rules and what active your brain is assigned to so all in all as someone going i think i would be a fun camp for your kids or you * *sorry i cant spell or type that well read more

This camp sleep deprives your children, because there are over six actives with no breaks and then they sleep at 11:00 and wake up at 8:00 which is hardly enough sleep for a growing body let alone someone who has been active all day. They also alone have three meals a day with a Dixie cup of a snack such as pretzels or gold fish. My kid came home crying saying she practically starved and they won't give you anything to eat even if your hungry. My child's water bottle also broke and the consler simply DUCK TAPED IT back together and said it was fine for the last 3 days of camp. The packing list they gave you is also totally wrong my child came unprepared and board half of her time at camp. Over all I WILL NOT be sending her there agian. read more

I went here from 1976 thru 1980. I had a blast. Forget about sending your kid to Kanakuk if you are picky about religion. Send your kid to Kamp and let the fun begin while learning the true teachings of our lord Jesus Christ. He or she will thank you. read more

Kanakuk staff and programming have impacted both my son as a Kamper and my daughter as a Kounselor. The fact that kampers can have the time of their lives doing FUN things all while learning about the love of Christ is worth every penny spent. read more

My son just had his 2nd experience with Kanakuk. The 2 weeks were packed with fun activities led by Godly, friendly people! It is a little more than many camps one can attend. I look at it as an investment in my child's future. He has made some lifelong friendships here. If i could give this camp zero stars i would. I didn't want to leave a review in the first place, but it felt wrong not to. First off, IF YOU ARE NOT RELIGIOUS OR DO NOT PRACTICE RELIGION DO NOT GO HERE! I am agnostic and felt shamed my entire stay at this camp. I went with my cousin who is Christian, without thinking that the camp enforced religion so heavily onto you. My two cousins and I left after our third day there. Not only was i talked about behind my back by the other girls in my cabin for my religious standpoint, but i was so uncomfortable the entire time. During bible studies, i didn't have a bible and felt judged by every person in the room. I quietly stood by while they talked and prayed. During other "bible studies" the preacher talked about how atheists and agnostics are bad. How do you think that made me feel? These were the words of a worker at the camp "have you ever asked god if he is real?" i responded by saying no. why would i if i not believe in him? then she said "well he is real. tonight i want you to ask him to wake you up at 2am and he will prove it" ARE YOU KIDDING?! how utterly disrespectful this was is honestly hard to put into words. Again, do not go here. You will have all of your belongings taken from you (including jewelry, makeup, and electronics) and you will essentially be brainwashed by everyone there. When my aunt and uncle came to pick us up, a camp manager told us that we were putting her job on the line (which we were not) and that we probably would not be welcome there again, which i am perfectly fine with. Right before we left, a seeming nice woman came up to me and we just made small talk, she asked if i was involved in any church activities and i responded by saying that i'm not religious, so no. then she walked away from me and didn't talk to me again. How do you think this made me feel? My cousin (who suffers from separation anxiety from her parents, and IBS) cried the entire time, and begged to call her parents. they wouldn't let her. we eventually did get to go home, but not without putting up a fight. I absolutely hated every minute of it and am sorry i even considered going in the first place. read more

We love Kanakuk Kamps! It holds a special place in my heart as a former kamper and I feel so blessed to be able to send my girls there. Everyone from the leadership team down to the counselors pour everything they have into my children. They come back more confident in themselves and in their faith. read more

Kanakuk Kamps are simple wonderful! They have been such a remarkable influence on my daughter's lives. The counselors are excellent role models. Being a camper there is a life changing experience and one that I would hope many could have the opportunity to enjoy. We drive 8 hours to get them there! My daughters have attended K-1 and K-West and look forward to K-2. They also beg us to let them stay a month and not just two weeks. read more

This camp is absolutely amazing!! It is one of the most well run camps that I have come across. Each child is really treated as an individual. The counselors are very focused on each child's growth both physically, emotionally, and spiritually. They do this by the many activities that they offer. I grew up going to summer camp as a child and always had a great time, but this takes camp to another level. We have a son that went as a camper and a daughter that was a counselor , so we were able to see both sides of it. Both kids came home with very positive experiences and both want to go back. My brothers and sister have sent their children to Kanakuk over the years and had nothing to say but wonderful things. Honestly, I was skeptical of because it had been built up so much over the years by my siblings and their children. But I am here to tell you it met and exceeded my expectation. I highly encourage you to send your children to this camp. Mine wanted to stay 2 more weeks!!! read more

this camp has HORRIBLE SERVICE my friend's brother had a major concussion and they did not treat him right at all or did not contact his parents until after five days of being in the hospital. his parents and siblings were left worried after being denied the information of why he was in the hospital and it could have been much more serious. the counselors bullied him, were racist, and were the reason why he had a concussion after they pushed him off the boat. he has reached out to his family with eight different letters, trying to get through to his sisters but they only received three because the camp held on to the others, worried about their reputation. this camp has had a lawsuit for horrible things their counselors did and i wouldn't be surprised if they had another. do not send your child here if you care about their well being and/or health. read more

No place like Kanakuk! I'm a former kamper and now a kamp mom to 2 teenage sons. I attended Kanakuk for 5 summers and my boys have been going for 8 and 9 summers so far, with both boys planning to return as counselors when they get old enough. As a kamper I loved the fun activities, high energy counselors, concerts, skits and lifetime friendships formed (I still keep in touch with some former counselors). As a kamp mom I love the Christ centered teaching, counselors that come along side me and influence and encourage my kids alongside me, teaching healthy competition, how to win and how to lose (no participation trophies for everyone...you get recognized on merit, work ethic and character), priorities in life and how to implement them in everything from sports competition to relationships with friends/parents/coaches/etc. Kanakuk lays out a foundation for kids that they can build their life on all while having a blast. read more

Kanakuk Kamps are incredible. We sacrificed to send our kids to Kanakuk camps in the summer and it was worth every penny. Would do it again and again. Our four children are grown and every one of them is very successful in their fields. They are hard workers, honest and moral in every way. We attribute it to the input at Kanakuk of solid values. They are also very caring and have sought to live by the "I'm Third" principle. We are blessed and were blessed through the hard work of all of the workers at Kanakuk. I don't personally know Joe and Debbie Joe White but from what I have seen is that they are genuine and caring of all of the staff and the campers. Wish there were more people like them out there who cared about this younger generation the way they do. read more

If you want your kids to enjoy a week, 2weeks, or a month in an environment that builds the LOVE for Jesus Christ! Find peace and happiness than Kanakuk is the environment. Kids have more fun being active in ALL sports, growing in Christ, learning about who they are, and being allowed to live in an environment where everyone is Somebody. I went to this camp in the early 90's I must have been 8 or 9. It was pretty traumatic honestly. When you are little you don't quite know what you are experiencing except that you realise "something feels weird about this place." Now as a grown man in his 30's, I can now gather my thoughts and realise things weren't quite right while I was there. First, the cafeteria, the counselors were like drill sergeants and wouldn't let me get up from the table until I forced all my food down, even yelling at me and calling me names. Second, the nudity was just weird. They made us boys walk naked from our tee pee to the showers and we all were crammed in the showers together, the counselors would shower naked with us too, very inappropriate. My counselor would even walk around the tee pee naked, for no reason. Third, the closest term I would use to describe the feel of the whole place and it's workers is "cult." Just an eerie feeling and nasty comments from counselors. It felt like prison. So in short, DO NOT send your kids here. Just thinking about this place gives me the chills. There are plenty of other Christian camps that I'm sure are more legitimate. read more
