The regular lemonade was hands-down the best I've ever had--exactly how lemonade should taste: perfectly balanced, tart and sweet, and incredibly refreshing. Their homemade syrups really set them apart, and the strawberry purée in the lemonade was sweet and delicious. My wife is a sweet tea snob, and even she was thoroughly impressed with theirs. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, and we loved that they offer a discount on refills if you bring your cup back. All in all, a fantastic experience during a less-than-ideal weekend. We'll definitely be on the lookout for Frost 5 next time we're in Tucumcari!

We were immediately asked for our drink order now they do serve beer here and it's my understanding the margaritas are made with wine. The chips were made of corn and salted lightly and served warm. The salsa was handmade and on the spicy side I had a bowl of Caldo de Res ( beef soup with vegetables. Definitely comfort food and I highly recommend) and a homemade pork green chili tamale on the side. The tamale was flavored outstanding, but was a little lacking on the meat and slightly on the dry side, but I would definitely order it again because it was authentic and the flavor was great. The other person in my party had a quesadilla stuffed with chicken. I didn't have a photo of that, but it was the fattest quesadilla I've ever seen they raved about it. The restaurant was relatively full. I noticed in the parking lot that most of the license plates were from out of state so since this restaurant is in Santa Rosa, New Mexico located off the interstate of I 40 many of these patrons were traveling we're passing through. A lot of individual people eating alone as well at the bar. The service was fantastic. There was two young ladies working together in tandem definitely family members. Both had great big smiles on their faces. I did comment to both of them not to work too hard and both responded "oh we have been since the day they we were born" as they chuckled, commenting something along that line with warm smiles and a chuckle. This particular restaurant gets high marks for me as I compare it to the one down the end of the street also on this historic route 66 that I reviewed not just four or five weeks ago at three stars. I would highly recommend this place over the competitor. Not only for flavor of food but Service, atmosphere and pricing. I travel through here quite often and I will definitely make a point to come back and try several different menu items. Most vendors were unprepared for the crowd and ran out of food. I wasn't even mad that I stood in line for 2 hours and got no food because I learned more about food truck locations and menus throughout Clovis and figured I'd just go try them on my own. Fast-forward to November 2019 Yo Mama's Food Truck had a Grand Opening. This was my second chance at trying their food but, dang, what a disappointment. The fries I got were cold and oversalted. The burger was so dry and flavorless and on a really sad patty. It reminded me of public school cafeteria food. I got a mild case of gastroenteritis afterward. They make a good, buttery grilled cheese though that my son enjoyed. They have burritos, tacos, hot dogs, nachos...all kinds of stuff. Perhaps this stuff is better? I don't know but I'm too scared to go back and try.

It was late in the afternoon so I wasn't sure if there would be any food trucks we liked next to…read morethe Clovis library, but I was certain that neither Lee nor I felt like cooking this evening. There were only three: one with Asian food with all its fresh bean sprouts and green onions and crispy fried rice, one with super crispy fried chicken, and the barbecue truck, Jetfire. The owner (I guessed) was out front, talking to another guy. I asked if they were open and if they had anything that a couple of old folks who couldn't chew "too good" could eat, maybe some brisket so fatty it would melt in your mouth. He kind of shook his head and then said, "I could chop some brisket up nice and soft and put it on a plate with two sides or a sandwich or just some meat by the pound?" Long story slightly shorter, he disappeared into the Jetfire truck and emerged a few minutes later with 2 chopped beef sandwiches, 2 sides of beans, 1 side of mac-n-cheese and a side of potato salad. We took it home and began eating some of the finest barbecue I've tasted in a very long time -- maybe sometime in the 30 years or so I lived in Austin, TX, and it wasn't just the chopped brisket -- each dish was a treat unto itself! The beef had bits of charred fat concentrated with the smoke and maybe worcestershire and horseradish? I don't know, but it was delectable! The bun was perfectly toasted on the grill in butter or maybe beef fat. The potato salad was the perfect combination, IMO, of vinegary, mustardy and mayonnaisey and the mac-n-cheese was the perfect texture of soft but not soggy with a lighter, a little sweeter sauce and chunks of Velveeta in it to give you an occasional burst of cheesy flavor. I think the folks running this truck have a secret ingredient that gives everything a depth and complexity you don't find just anywhere. This has become my go-to barbecue in the area and I recommend it to any BBQ lover. Plus the gentleman who rustled up this food for us was a damn nice guy! The plates were 10 bucks a piece-- well, worth the price, but one plate with one extra side would have been more than enough for the two of us who have fairly light appetites.
