Great stop on our roadtrip! Our server, Chris, gave excellent service. I had the potato skins with a side of ranch and they were excellent. My husband had the pozole and it was made perfectly! Be sure to ask for lime. The tamales and chile rellenos are housemade and excellent! They have a great variety on the menu of Tex-mex, authentic Mexican, and American classics. The green sauce is the best! Red is tasty too but spicy (in my opinion). Will definitely be back for roadtrips to come.

In a struggling town La Cita's is a Mexican style restaurant with a good menu, and good food at a decent price. Friendly service and hot food is a welcome relief on a long trip, or just your hungry for something special. A welcome atmosphere and comfortable seats.

Lovely find in Tucumcari- delicious and flavorful food. We got the combo plate and the carne adovada burrito. I opted for the red and green sauce .. both about the same in spice (I would say middle of mild- medium). The chile relleno was my favorite and the burrito was equally good. Ended the meal with a sopapilla (light fluffy fried dough... with as much honey to your heart's content) . Indoor and outdoor seating. Service is friendly but busy and so a little slow when it comes to refills and checking on the table.

We were seated immediately upon entering. The waitress was very friendly and efficient. We ordered and our food came out in no time. The portions were large and the taste was delicious. You can go wrong to come here. F we lived in the area this certainly would be our go to place

Recommended by the folks from Carlson coffee company.. that was just down the road from La Cita. This place accommodated seven adults and a toddler promptly, efficiently and accommodating. The food was very very fresh flavorful.. our table had everything from amazing chili Rellenos, fresh fajitas, queso, burritos, and an Adrian special! I have to say the chips that they serve complementary with their salsa was the best chips and salsa I have had from a Mexican restaurant! the weight staff was super friendly and attentive.

Most excellent tamales with great rice and beans. The green sauce is most excellent. For as busy as the place was, our server did an excellent job. Nice little place on the Route 66!

Picadillo burrito with chicken and green sauce

Service was excellent - friendly and fast. Got the picadillo burrito and sopapillas. Sopapillas were good. The chili verde on the burrito was bland and the chicken was in large cubes as were the potatoes. Not exactly what I was expecting for picadillo - should have been smaller cubes in my experience.

My son, grandson, and I took a short road trip to Tucumcari during a school break. We were only there for one night and weren't ready to eat dinner until relatively late. It seems that most restaurants in town close by 7:30 PM. La Cita looked like the only locally owned, non-chain option, so that's where we went, and we were not disappointed. The restaurant is bright, cheery, very clean, and full of local art. We ordered the Steak Ranchero, Adrian's Special, and the Tamale dinner, all of which were delicious and well-presented. The steak was cooked exactly medium-rare, and the steak bites in Adrian's Special were smoky and slightly charred and oh, so tasty! The pico was really fresh and picante, which was exactly what I wanted. The sides weren't afterthoughts, either, as you can see in the photos. My son and I had margaritas, which appeared to be pre-made, which is fine in a place without a bar, and the three of us splurged and shared the special dessert; a deep-fried cheesecake-filled tortilla with strawberries, which we all enjoyed. The place was moderately busy when we arrived and it took a few minutes to be seated, but the staff acknowledged us and we never felt ignored. The service was prompt, attentive, and very friendly. If and when we return to Tucumcari, I will definitely lobby for another visit to La Cita.

Only two staff working which I know Taco Bell's drive thru is a beast on most days. Tonight however was chill. The family and I wanted something quick and not too heavy. Nacho Bell Grandes and a one 5 layer burrito minus the sour cream. Ehhh.. The hot toppings on the Nachos appeared slopped on with no regards to presentation. It was quick I will give you that but I don't think quick over rules food preparation and presentation. In my younger years, I remember working at Taco Bell and our manager was really strict about presentation saying to the cooks, "If you wouldn't eat it that way don't serve it that way." These were my thoughts but the items were freshly made. I ran in to the establishment to grab an order I forgot through drive thru and observing the staff at drive thru taking orders (who will also take my order) she is literally stepping over trash. Like trash from the plastic cup sleeves and lids dropped, napkins, and straws whatever else was on the floor it looked like they got slammed and couldn't keep up. I highly recommend at a certain time they should shut the lobby so that they'll have time to properly prepare food and also clean. Allow the staff to concentrated on the drive thru and they can keep the backend tidy after all lobby the customers can see the ground in the back from the front counter....which isn't appealing. That is a staffing complaint not a particular staff problem.
