Was really craving BBQ and found this spot through YELP. It's a holiday and they weren't busy. I ordered ribs, potato salad, and baked beans. DH ordered pulled pork sandwich and baked beans. Everything was delicious and the food came out quickly. The pulled pork sandwich was huge. I don't use much sauce because, if the meat is cooked correctly, it's really not needed -- this was cooked perfectly! We've passed this little spot many times. The food was really yummy! It reminded me of food from my hometown. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The service is always good and they are very friendly. The peach pit beans are so good. The sauces are always good. Had a delicious carry out dinner this evening consisting of brisket, ribs, and pulled pork with a variety of sides. Everything was fresh and tasty! They were a little short staffed and had multiple orders to fill, but the staff was very friendly and accommodating. I have no problem waiting for good food, and this most certainly fit the bill. I moved to IL less than a week ago. Up until 3 years ago I lived in South Texas my whole life. I love to spend hours on on doing a low and slow grill on ribs etc. After I left, I moved to the East Coast followed by the Pacific Northwest before I made it here. Needless to say I didn't find exactly the greatest BBQ. Driving by KC BBQ this morning and seeing their pit smoking caught my eye immediately. I've never had the chance to try a more midwestern style type of BBQ so I went in for lunch. The family running the business were absolutely fantastic and kind. On top of all of that, I don't' think I've ever had my ribs from a restaurant peel off the bone like they did. Highly recommended and I'm very glad I found a go-to spot. These guys do it right! Glad I found this little gem in Decatur. I gotta say, the ribs are great, and so is the pork, but get the sauce on the side. The smoke, juice and flavor of the ribs and pork is fantastic! The bad news is, the brisket is okay..... Not Texas! Gotta show these guys how we smoke a proper brisket! We ordered the "weekend special" from the door dash menu. It was supposed to be two brisket sandwiches for $10.50. We also ordered two corn on the cob sides for $4, and smoked potatoes for $2. We got one child sized sandwich. We did not go out because I have a medical situation. I have been wanting to try this place.. NEVER AGAIN. Pulled pork was dry just like the brisket. Asked for sweet sauce and Spicy . Got only sweet and it wasn't very tasteful. Smoked potatoes were just ok. Baked beans had a slight burnt taste to them, and personally I think they needed some onion in them. I've tasted many Kansas City bbq, and they all have tasted different. Myself and 2 employees were in Decatur for the day last Tuesday on a project. I was looking on Yelp for a good lunch close to where we were working. I found KC barbecue pit on line. I called and spoke to the owner. He said, "we would be happy to serve you." The restaurant was extremely clean. I'm a floor care guy and I typically look at floors and carpets when I enter an establishment. Very impressed. The barbecue was amazing.
