2013 was the year I moved out of my parents house and started attending KU after graduating junior…read morecollege. Apart of growing up meant that I needed renter's insurance for coverage at my apartment. I chose State Farm because their goals closely aligned with mine and as a renter this company is outstanding! As I continued to grow so did my insurance polices I began to cover my car and my life through insurance policies with SF. Eventually I got married and added my husband's car, not too long after that we felt it was only right to insure our home through SF since we had already been with them 8 years at that point. This year makes 12 YEARS! I want to be clear that my experience with this branch in particular will not group the entire company as a whole. Because I still believe SF is great company, it's just like "most franchises they all aren't the same." When I first started in 2013 - 2020 there was an elder lady in the office who really made me feel like family! When my car accidentally hit a deer in 2019 she advocated for me and did not let the body shop total my car. She told me I was in good hands and with her I really felt like I was. Unfortunately, I cannot remember her name, but I'm afraid she left during Covid or possibly retired? Fast forward to 2021 when my husband's car was hit and it took over 6 months to get it fixed, this branch was everything but a "good neighbor" and they were not there. We had to call the other insurance company to make sure the rental would be covered after SF refused to cover it after 30 days since that's what's in our policy - which I completely understand but to not reach out to the other company as the service we pay for every month threw us for a loop especially because he needed a car to get to work to make sure the service we weren't receiving could be paid for in full every month As I said this place is great for renters, car and life....but just find someone else when it comes to homeowners insurance. Unless you like paying thousands of dollars for a deductible and when you actually need something done they will hire an adjuster to come out and say "it's not that bad". I don't think I know anyone who wants to file a claim "just because". I don't know a homeowner who asked for their roof to be replaced for cosmetic purposes. It's usually because damage is getting inside the home and they want to protect their asset....but SF only wants to cover damage on part of the roof and suggested if there's another leak in a different spot just file a claim on that too. Took their advice and now they are not renewing our home insurance because we have too many claims?!! Sounds like a set up to me and after 12 years of never missing a payment and all the hoops I had to jump through this branch should feel really lucky I'm not countersuing for all the emotional and physical distress they have put us through this past year. Lexi Varner is the true definition of what a corporation is. No sympathy, no intention to actually help or advocate for clients in good standing, no desire to keep our services because when I said I would cancel or transfer to another branch everyone else in the office stated they would be "sad to see us go", but Lexi didn't bat an eye and was probably happy we wouldn't be "her problem" anymore. I acknowledged the fact that she was probably tired of seeing me last time I went in for a visit, because I was tired of driving 40 mins from my house with 2 kids 3 and under to discuss something you all can't seem to email or call me back about. It's something about women who are also a mother watching another woman struggle that really grinds my gears. As someone who worked in HR for almost a decade, our clients issues are my issues too! Every scenario had nothing to do with me, but since it was my job to find a solution I did every time! Super cringey that I'm not able to receive the same respect from an insurance company I used to speak so highly of. Again, I'm not blaming Stare Farm as a blanket company because I just transferred to an agency much closer to home and from the moment I walked in their doors they have treated me like I matter which is all I've ever wanted and quite frankly pay for! This branch in particular needs to get it together because out of all the life events that have transpired this past year this and the daycare situation are running a tight race as to which was more stressful. I hate writing 1 star reviews, but I hate being in these predicaments even more. I love that Yelp gives us this platform to share our personal experiences. I hope with this being the only review this company looks into the mission statement and aligns with agents who actually want the best for their clients and not their pockets.
