The GOOD was the staff. I would give 1 star for the RIDICULOUS processes that were required to register my vehicle. #1: it cost money to park so choose Pearl Ridge where it is free! #2: I was told on line to bring in my DD214 to show my 20 years of honorable service and my INDEFINITE MILITARY IDENTIFICATION CARD and I would be able to get my Veteran plate (NOT TRUE) and because I am over 65 I would also get a $20 discount. (NOT TRUE) Both did not happen. The service agent said I would have to come back or go to another place to get my veterans plate. And in order to receive the $20 discount I would be required to go to the veterans building (WHEREVER THAT IS?) and get a letter stating I was honorably discharged. WHAT!!! You mean to tell me that my DD214 SHOWING EXACTLY THAT and my indefinite MILITARY IDENTIFICATION CARD is not enough??! And they require me to get a letter!! CMON!! Talk about getting the run around! Ugh! Or maybe my teller didn't know what she was doing?? But I gave her the benefit of the doubt and just stated please give me a regular plate so I don't have to come back and pay for parking again. It was frustrating for sure because I did not read anywhere that I would need a letter from the veterans organization and I didn't see anything provided on line concerning a letter from a veterans center nor did they provide an address to get the letter or phone number to contact them. And YOU NEED TO GO ON LINE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR SURE IF YOU WISH TO BE SEEN TIMELY. THAT WAS A GOOD PROCESS. AND IT WORKS. But I feel bad for the elderly and those who are not computer literate. It was a frustrating experience and at the end as you leave the parking lot you pay the parking attendant or they do not lift the gate. HERE IS A SUGGESTION ON WHAT YOU COULD DO BETTER: Let's ACCEPT DD214's especially when the person also has an INDEFINITE MILITARY IDENTIFICATION CARD! Five stars for my experience. Made an appointment for the satellite City Hall at 8:30am. I arrived a little early at 7:45am & waited outside in the line to enter. Unfortunately, I stepped on some dog poo in the parking lot, which really annoyed me with the smell. Had to get it off on the grass. But other than that experience, I was allowed in to the satellite city hall at 8am. At 8:05am, as I was seated, the lady asked what time my appointment was, so I told her at 8:30am. Renewed my driver's license with an appointment that got me in and out in ten minutes. They were calling my number before I even finished filling out the 1-page form. There are screens that show you the time for your appointment and self-serve kiosks where you can make an appointment. Bonus, the bathroom was clean! Validated parking was 75 cents for half an hour. One thing I would recommend is to schedule your appointment at least a month before your license expires. A lot of the locations are booked up 4-6 weeks in advance. read more

I had a very disappointing and frustrating experience today at the driver licensing office. I arrived a little after 8:00 AM to renew my driver's license. Since I didn't have an appointment, I followed the process to come early and get in line. A staff member named Barny assisted me at the beginning. He took my information, but did not give me a number. When I asked, he told me that because I didn't have an online appointment, he would only take my information and that I needed to go inside and wait. Trusting his instructions, I waited patiently for over 4 hours, until around 12:00 PM. I went back to ask him, and after checking, he told me to continue waiting--still without giving me a number. I continued waiting for even longer, until after 2:30 PM, when another staff member inside finally asked me what I was there for. When I explained that I was renewing my driver's license but never received a number, they told me I needed to go back outside and get in line to receive one--something that should have been done from the beginning. I was extremely frustrated at that point. I went back outside, got in line again, and spoke to Barny. When he checked, he said my name had already passed and blamed me, saying I had left earlier. This is completely untrue--I was there the entire time from morning to afternoon. I even asked him to check the cameras to verify. After a long delay, another staff member finally stepped in and helped me complete my driver's license renewal. This experience shows a serious lack of communication, accountability, and professionalism. Because of one staff member's mistake, I wasted nearly an entire day for something that should have been handled correctly from the start. I hope management takes this seriously and improves staff training to prevent this from happening to others. read more

I made my appointment two days before going in my appointment was for Saturday morning before I had to go into work. I was worried I might not make it into work on time. However it was one of the best drivers license experiences ever was kind wonderful and expedient. When I first got there, I was almost worried. They were closed so locals tip book your appointment first thing on the Saturday morning and get there before they open you'll be in and out before no time! Yea really! Renewed my drivers license that I accidentally let expire in November in February. And this was by far the best DMV experience of my life :) they seem to have been renovated recently and there are maybe 15+ windows and a TV which shows you, your place in line. The system is simple: upon entering you see an attendant who confirms if you have an appointment or are a walk in, asks you to present app confirmation or documents if necessary and provides you with an application. Then you fill it out and wait to be called. I think I waited maybe 20-30 mins which is unheard of for DMV. The attendant was very nice, processed my paperwork, did my vision test, took payment then sent me to get my photo taken. In and out in less than 1 hour :) read more

Visiting the dreaded state agency can always be a difficult experience. Kapalama Hale is the one large location for the City and County of Honolulu that covers most of urban Oahu for many city services such as drivers licensing, vehicle registrations and state identification. When you manage to navigate your way to the office through the mess of road construction they are doing for the rail project, you arrive into the parking lot where you pull a ticket which you should get validated at the service window inside for whatever business you are there for. We were there for a state ID for my mother. You will need to schedule an appointment date and time online. Prior to arrival, make sure you have all of the proper required documents. You will need to check in when you arrive and directed to sit in the waiting area until they call your number which is the last 4 numbers of your phone number. The service clerk who helped us with the state ID process was friendly, gracious and made the process quick. I failed to remember her name but she's a superstar! read more

I went there this morning on Christmas eve to do some paper work. Everything was fine inside the hall the problem only came afterwards leaving I had to give my neice the ticket to be stamp inside the office so I don't have to pay 1.50, instead I pay .75 the woman working in the ticket box proceeded to yell and make threats that my car was getting towed when I was only giving the ticket and then turning around to go into a parking spot. I was not in anyone's way and I didn't stay in the middle of the road. When I go to the ticket box I stayed calm asking her why is she getting so upset she still gave me attitude even when I didn't engage in the same energy she was giving. If you have people working at the ticket box I suggest telling them especially because it's Christmas to have more mature and calmer attitude when talking to people and if you don't like something proceed to CALMLY explain why, it's not that difficult. If she cannot then it would be best to find a job you don't talk to people. She also made me pay the 1.50 with the ticket stamped instead of the .75. I can totally understand if I was not suppose to go that way but if I had family members that were handicap and no parking in the front I would still have to turn around to pick them up in the front. It is not hard and takes no effort to have understanding and kindness especially around Christmas. Have better customer service overall not just inside the establishment or maybe retrain worker to do that and Merry Christmas to her hope she has a better attitude next year. read more

This was my first time here and have to say it was a very non-stressful experience...but, we are currently under much different circumstances right now which made my visit out of the norm so can't really say what it would be like in non-pandemic-keep-six-feet-away-from-me times. They only reopened about a week ago and currently are only servicing license renewals (I think driver's licenses and state IDs.) You also need to keep in mind they are only renewing for those that are having their licenses expire between March 1st and July 31st. One of the workers that was organizing the line said they have around 90,000 licenses expiring in that time period so it's understandable they are not full service at the moment. Some other things to keep in mind if you're planning to renew your license: You need to make an appointment, they are not taking walk-ins. Go to alohaq.honolulu.gov to make the appointment. There is also a helpful section on the website that aids you in making sure you have all the proper documents. You can also download the application form so you can fill it out ahead of time, I highly recommend doing this. Unlike normal times where a lot of people start camping out to get in line before they open, you just need to get there a few minutes before your appointment time. On the day of my 8am appointment, I noticed they only had 5 appointments for every 15 minute time slot and they tell you to line up only if your appointment is coming up shortly. I also noticed if you're one of the five that are in that time slot, they don't call you up by the order you're standing in line, it's kind of random, either that or maybe your number gets called in the order the appointments were made. Also, your number is the last four digits of the phone number you used when making the appointment. The parking lot is the large lot between the building and the costco gas station. Don't park in the first lot right off of Dillingham because all those stalls are reserved for the state workers. You don't want to make the mistake of pulling into that first lot at 745am (which was totally empty btw) pulling into a reserved stall to check your phone for some kind of directions on where to go, then getting stink eye and yelled at by what must've been some kind of state worker god and told you are not of demi-god status and unworthy of parking in one of the golden stalls...sigh...rolls eyes. read more

The lady who scanned my paperwork's did not return my SSN card. She was slow inputting my info. Then rushing me fast towards the end. But, Pretty SUS! I realized because I was going through all my papers and it was missing. She scanned my SSN last. Then rush me to wait in line to take my picture and finger print. I was still in the building, if she was helping another customer she would've seen my SSN card. And gave it back to me. Cause I stayed another 15 min waiting. Maybe it was my timing because I breezed right in at 3:30 before they closed at 4:00. I was greeted by a pleasant woman with a clipboard who directed me to the window for registration renewal. Hallelujah!! Only one guy ahead of me! Service was friendly, personable, and professional. I felt like I was treated as a person and not just a number being processed. She was also kind to the man ahead whose first language was not English. 5 stars for my experience today which was my best ever at any satellite city hall, but probably an unusual one! There are people there whose appointment isn't till 8:15 or 8:30 but still ahead of people who have an 8 am. appointment . You have to queue to speak to the Madam to get in the joint. Sure enough, I heard my number called, but I still haven't gotten past the Madam yet. I almost gave in to being rude and cut the line, but decency prevailed, and I waited. No registration. No safety check paperwork. My first appointment was at Ala Moana. I was not allowed to enter since I did not have an updated Safety check. I was told. I need to get car insurance. Then. Go to any safety check business to obtain a FAILED SAFETY check for NO REGISTRATION. Then schedule another appointment to complete the title transfer. My second appointment was at Pearlridge. I was not able to transfer the title since there were 2 exceptions on my FAILED SAFETY check. 1) brake light bulb needs to be replaced. 2) No registration. There can only be one. I had to replace the bulb. Go back to the same safety check business to get an updated FAILED SAFETY with only one exception. The hardest thing is getting an appointment online. The cashier was friendly and prompt. I only provided 4 stars because as I left. The boy checking in failed to give me a PARKING validation sticker. So. I went into the DMV few days ago and was standing in line. Every thing was going fine until the Filipino lady I think she was the supervisor (I asked the person that was helping me what her name was and they said Katie) she came from outside of a room and was talking down to one of her employees an older local lady with salt and pepper short over the ears hair. I felt really bad because I come from a back ground of customer service and you need to give respect to not only the customers but your employees as well, lead by example and in this case that truly wasn't lead by example. That supervisor Katie should NOT be a supervisor at all to treat her employees with no respect and to top it off talking down and degrading in front of the whole DMV to hear. Who ever hired her as a supervisor must have been drunk. She should take a supervisory class on how to treat and speak to her employees. I felt VERY sorry for that woman who could be her mother. My appt was 11:24a, didn't get called up to a window until like 1215p. The middle aged guy I got that day on a Monday was very polite, explained in detail and very helpful. Efficient. But the wait times are so long I ended up having to wait till 1pm to take the actual test ugh! My number one suggestion is to be sure to make your appointment online. This is the real way to have a quick experience. I will say though, you are going to have to book in advance. I made my appointment on August 27th and the soonest I could get in was October 16th. A bit of a wait.. but how fast the overall process became it was so worth it. I came here for an Out of State Drivers License transfer. My appointment was 3:40pm and my number was called at 3:42pm. I brought multiple documents, but the items they took of mine were; 1. Current drivers license 2. Passport 3. Social security card 4. Car insurance card 5. Hawaiian Telecom bill The price was $40 and my new Hawaii Drivers License will be good for 8 years. It's the old Sprint building, right next to Costco Gasoline. I came to get my son a State ID. Unfortunately, he wasn't old enough. You have to be 10 to get an ID. I was kind of relieved that he wasn't old enough. I didn't want to stand in that long line. I got there at 8:20am and the line was already super long. When you open the door to the DMV, there's a lady sitting at a desk to greet you. She'll ask what you're there for and direct you on what to do. That's helpful and saves time. read more

I got to the DMV at 5:30 AM, thinking maybe I'd be TOO early. There was already a line of people waiting alongside the building - I'm talking AT LEAST two dozen people. The wise (and very possibly seasoned) brought chairs, stools, coffee, breakfast plates, and various forms of entertainment. By 8:00 AM, I felt like I was standing in line for a Disneyland ride! Ten minutes prior to opening, a few employees went around the line to ask if anyone had an appointment or needed an Application Form. The DMV opened, and the line started creeping forward. Once inside, I was are sent to an AlohaQ kiosk to enter my last name and cell phone number. The kiosk spit out a ticket telling me what my number and estimated time was. Then I was free to take a seat - phew! My estimated time was 9:16 AM. Considering I came without an appointment, I was happy to wait another hour to be seen. Besides, after two and a half hours of standing, the plastic DMV seats almost felt...comfortable? Lol Your number is called to the appropriate window over the loudspeaker. You can hear the numbers from the waiting room, the restroom, and even out front. Not only are numbers called but also displayed on a flatscreen along with your estimated time, type of appointment, and window, much like the arrival/departure flatscreens at airports. I was called to the window right at my estimated time! I presented my documents (I recommend using the Interactive Document Guide at https://www2.honolulu.gov/documentguide/ to determine what you need to bring), and an employee processed my paperwork in 20 minutes flat. In five minutes, I was seen at another window by a cashier to make payment. In another five minutes, I was called to a third window to take my photo. The entire "appointment" took 35 minutes. I was out by 9:52 AM! Overall, yes, it's a long wait. But once you're in, it's easy as pie! Now it's time to wait...6-8 weeks for my plastic card to arrive in the mail! read more

Checking in was fine until we sat there for almost 2 hours waiting for our number to be called and we had an appointment which makes no sense to have an appointment just for you guys to be behind and then call numbers and then I had a duplicate number a same number as somebody else And they ended up calling the number we both went up and then she tell me at window seven that she called the other girl I told her no you called her number and I have that number too so then we just sit back down wondering what we do because we had the same number and so now we don't know what number we have And if they called us already, which I never saw if it is your phone number digits I never saw it on the board to begin with so somebody who check us in the Man gave us the wrong number the same one as another person wasted two hours over there Lady I go to the front say what happened and then she tried to say well it's supposed to be your phone number while we was given the wrong number so then she say oh maybe someone can help so to go stand in window 14 stand there so early like 20 minutes to come by we have to leave because we don't have time to wait my husband had to go work And we were there since 11 and never leave until like 1240 that's ridiculous so now I'm never going back to that place again plus you need to pay for parking if you don't get it validated and we didn't have time to get it validated because nobody could help us cause this place is a bunch full of morons. Makes no sense to need an appointment. If you guys cannot even keep up with the appointment stop having so much slots open for the same appointment time. I came to Kapalama Hale to transfer my out-of-state license and had a wonderful experience! About 3 weeks in advance, I made an appointment online with Aloha Q - I highly recommend doing this, because when I arrived for my appointment, there were about 15-20 people waiting around outside. I later found out these were all the walk-ins. Those with appointments can go straight inside, check in, and sit in the (spacious) waiting area. Initially, I was confused if I was supposed to go into the Satellite City Hall or the Driver Licensing Center, because there are no signs clarifying the differences between the two, nor does your appointment with AlohaQ give any indication. For those wondering, if you are transferring your out-of-state license, go into the Driver Licensing Center to check in and bring: - A completed driver's license application (they do have these at the check-in counter if you forget it) - Your valid, unexpired out-of-state license - 1 original document for proof of legal presence (passport, birth certificate, etc.) - 2 documents for Proof of Address (I used two bank statements, one checking and one savings, that were less than 2 months old; I also brought extras just in case.) Once in the waiting room, you can see your appointment # on a tv screen right above you. Bring a book if you come early. They do have a bathroom inside if you need. At 10:15 (my appointment time), my number was called immediately and I went to the assigned window. It took the employee less than 10 minutes to review my documents. I then signed some papers, paid $20 (check or card is accepted), and was directed to the next window. At the second window, an employee took my approved application, my fingerprints, and then took my picture. It took less than 5 minutes, and then they handed me my temporary driver's license. A super fast and hassle-free experience! It has now been 2 weeks since I had my appointment, and my permanent driver's license arrived in the mail already. I am super happy with my experience. Today was probably the BEST experience I've ever had at an agency like this. Last week I lost my wallet so I needed to replace my Hawaii State ID card. From previous experiences, I anticipated I'd need to get there before they opened and wait for quite a while. However, I went online to check suck documents I'd need and how much it'd cost and noticed I could make an appointment! I was slightly skeptical but decided to give it a try. Making an appointment online was simple and I scheduled at appointment for 12:15pm. I was immediately texted a "ticket number". Today, I received a text reminder about 45 minutes before my scheduled appointment. Once I arrived, I was able to find a seat in the (crowded) waiting area and wait. I kept wondering if they'd actually call my number... Then I received another text advising me that my estimated wait time was less than 5 minutes. Soon, my number was called over the intercom, yay! I noticed later that they also sent me a text, so if I'd happened to step outside, I still would have been notified. The 3 people who helped me through the process of replacing my ID were efficient, helpful, and friendly. This was most appreciated! This system is awesome. When I arrived at noon, the person who mans the front area was already turning walk ins away. That particular employee had the expected grumpiness you might expect from the MVD which is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. read more

Based on service top notch, based on time well the rail will be finished soon right? Not many people know this but I'm a relocator (I now it's not really a word but it works here). My CA drivers license was expiring so I had to get a new one. Well I live here I might as well get a Hawaiian one. The place was easy to find since it's between City College and Home Depot. You think parking would be difficult but I arrived 30mins after opening and there was plenty of stalls. Plenty since the stalls are mostly compact but there are some stalls that can easily fit a bigger car. Once you step inside, you are greeted by a police officer. I made sure to thank him because of his service. Remember they jeopardize their safety to keep us safe. I can't be mad at them when I get a speeding ticket. Remember I'm from CA. How ironic. Also there are a couple of DMV workers to help you. One of them directed me too a huge kiosk that's easy to use. I swear it was so large, Godzilla could use it for and iPad. The State got this kiosk program right. Now that's ironic! Type in your name, give up your cell number and the reason you're there and wala out spits a ticket with an ETA to the window. Wait WHAT 10:40??? Two hour wait!!! Glad I came early. When you enter the waiting area expect a lot of folks. It's like people trying to escape a missile strike so they run to the nearest bomb shelter. What too soon? I'm trying to give you a visual representation people. Geeee. Anyway while waiting, you can watch the HGN channel on the TV. I should have asked the front desk to change the channel. Next to the TV, a split monitor that directs your number to the appropriate window. There are about 18 teller windows. I found out window 10 is for payment and window 11 is for picture taking. The rest for helping you get what you need. Come prepared to wait. It seems that everyone was on their phones playing candy crush. 20 years ago people would have a conversation or read a book but technology made things better???? The number calling goes quick and I was seen at 10:44. At about 10:35 I received at text that my number would by called soon. At window 8, my teller was professional and quick. After showing proof identifying myself, she quickly processed my paperwork and directed me to a seat with instructions to wait for the cashier. I could have been seated sooner but we argued about my hair color. IT'S BLK WITH SOME WHITE NOT GRAY! I sat down for a min before my name was called for the cashier. The State wants their money. After paying, I sat another 30 secs before getting called for my picture. Overall four stars. The process goes quick if you have all your paperwork ready and a fully charged phone. Went to renew my license. My appointment was 8:30. At 8:00, I walked up to the entrance where I was asked my name. The gentleman checked my completed app. form, checked the appointment schedule, and directed me to go inside. Soon I was called to a window where my documents were scanned, picture taken and I was out the door at 8;20. Everyone was very polite. There were 2 people whose jobs were to spray , sanitize and direct people to available windows. What a pleasant experience. I feared long lines, disorganization and frustration. Make an appointment! Went here because the one closer to home didn't have any appointments. This place was very organized. As soon as you walk in there was someone there to help you and confirm your appointment. I saw her helping people who had services that could use the express line and those who had to go to the driver license line next door. It was clean, bathrooms available, screen with your appointment number so you know when you are called and what window to approach. When we got there they were backed up so even though we had a 1030 appointment we didn't get seen till sometime after maybe 11. Definitely recommend making an appointment if you need it. If you try being a walk in you could be waiting all day since they service the appointments first . There was a separate window for the express lane so that didn't conflict. We got we we needed and staff validated our parking ticket. (Yeah parking in their lot is not free, but you get it validated ) I think we paid 1.50 for parking. read more

Came here to get a duplicate driver's license so I could get the Gold Star designation. Parking is available but can get crowded at times. I would highly suggest you make an appointment online. There are two lines one for walk ins and the other for appointments. I arrived about 10 minutes prior to my appointment to ensure I wouldn't miss it. On one wall is a screen displaying the number of appointments and which ones are being served. It's listed by appointment time so you can easily see how many people are ahead of you. My time came and went but I was called about 5 minutes after my scheduled time. Once at the counter I was done in about 15 minutes. Please be sure to bring all your documents, unless you already provided them earlier. I brought my birth certificate, social security card, copy of my utility bill and voter registration card. Online Services: Highly recommend checking the City & County Of Honolulu website for details on required documents and/or requirements AND definitely schedule an appointment ahead of time. I found their website user friendly, and I was able to get the information to my questions. I especially liked the documents portal that allows you to enter and select the type of documents you already have, and let's you know what documents you would need in order to get your new, or renew, your drivers license, state ID. Service: My appointment was scheduled for 11:50am and was called at 11:58am. The entire process once I got to the counter area and waited to take my photo, took about 20 minutes. I waited longer for my appointment time since I got their early because I wasn't sure of the parking situation. Both employees who assisted were friendly and efficient. It did help that I had all my required documents and my application completed. Location: Conveniently located in town. Parking: I was able to find a parking space in short time, however, the parking lot had a lot of activity with cars constantly coming and going. Recommend to be careful of not only pedestrians walking, but cars pulling in/out of the stalls. Hours: Monday thru Friday from 8am - 4pm. Wish their hours included Saturdays for those of us who work during weekdays. I used one of my vacation days for today's appointment. read more

Right across from Costco, with parking before the Costco gas station. I came the day after Thanksgiving with an online appointment, and it was very busy. They did not accept walkins that day. I had a 11:30a appointment and they were backlogged for almost an hour. My turn was around 12:30p. I still recommend making an online appointment in advance, but be prepared to wait over your appointment time. read more

This place was pretty decent for a DMV. This review is for the Drivers License Center. I originally went on a Tuesday afternoon just because I was in the area and wanted to try. Found parking no problem but that's probably because they weren't accepting any walk-ins. This was about 1:30pm. I talked to the woman at the check-In and she suggested making an appointment or coming early in the morning at 7. Wednesday morning I made sure I arrived before 7, parking no problem but it was 6:55 and there was already a line!!! I was about the 20th person in line and brought a book and my phone to keep me busy. Mind you they don't open until 8! There are two lines so make sure you're in the right one. There's one for the road test and one for the drivers license and State ID. There are signs posted. Workers came out about 7:45am to check paperwork and pass out forms if you need it. I thought this was a really nice touch and helped people move lines if they were in the wrong one. Doors opened promptly at 8 and we got our walk in tickets easily out of the four kiosks. Those who had appointments are in a different line and walk ins are interspersed between the appointments so don't worry about them "cutting" in line. I got number 23 and was helped in 35 minutes and out of there with my temporary drivers license by 8:50. So took about 2 hours from wait time to finish. Overall - expect to wait, bring all your documents, arrive early. Inside was clean and bright. read more

Painless! I went to the website prior to going about two weeks in advance, filled out the paperwork to renew my license and printed. Made my appointment, got a text and email immediately. Day of...just showed up with my paperwork and waited for my number to be called. I got text every so Many minute with the last text letting me know what window to go to. Got that done...got my photo and temp license and was out the door. Parking wasn't a problem either. I had an appointment later in the day and it was perfect. I highly recommend you make an appointment so you don't need to wait all day. read more

Over the past 3 weeks visited Kapalama Hale several times to transfer my out of state auto title & drivers license back to Honolulu, it has been an experience to say the least. The automobile services were definitely better of the two. My car was ready for pick up today from the vehicle processing center, so I made an appointment on AlohaQ for next week Monday. Ended down around 10:50 am to see if I could just stand in line. Was able to do so, and just in time. In another two minutes I wouldn't be able to pick up a ticket while the licensing staff went on rotating lunch. In a short bit was able to see a clerk. Had most of my documents ready, except for a military discharge form for a veteran's plate. Okay, the return visit was on me. Overall not bad, and the transfer fee was $5.50 each for the regular and then the veteran's plate. The driver license transfer was a totally different story. Like one of the circles of Hell from Dante's Inferno. Long, long lines! How long, you ask? They evidently only have a set number of "get in line now" tickets per day to be issued. If they're all issued out early in the morning, you're SOL. After a few days of trying, finally got the hint and scheduled a "get in line later" appointment in another 4 days! License requirements were pretty crazy, too! In additional to your original Social Security Card or birth certificate, they also wanted two forms of ID. And two billing statements that listed a local address. As this was the beginning of the month and I started to change my address for most financial institutions a week or two prior, there wasn't too many statements that were scheduled to be issued out at the beginning of the month. Luckily had the two needed. Last question was whether or not I wanted a veteran's stamp on the DL, to put it on I needed to provide a copy of one of my discharge forms. Luckily I had them that day! Quite a ordeal overall! I tried one time each to go to the Pearlridge & Ala Moana Satellite City Halls, and they weren't any better! Definitely use AlohaQ to make your appointments, and double-check your document requirements for whatever you're doing! read more

I used AlohaQ and it seemed to make the process sooooo much smoother. I just advise that the drivers license side is the LEFT entrance and motor vehicle stuff is the RIGHT entrance (coming from their parking lot). I accidentally went to the wrong side and missed my number but they were kind enough to help me as the next number had not arrived yet. Everything after that was smooth sailing. I was helped about 15 mins after my AlohaQ time which was ok because I was late anyway. It was much better than the waiting situation going on inside, no one in line looked very happy. I was out with a new drivers license in less than 20 mins. All the service reps were nice and courteous and clear with instructions. By far the best DMV experience (including in other states!) I've had and everyone can understand that can mean a lot. Haha. As far as parking goes, if you're coming from Dillingham, the entrance to the public parking will be the SECOND right (if you pass the Costco gas station on the right then u went too far). The first right is closed to the public. There's plenty of free parking in this lot. They have plenty screens everywhere to let you know which number is being helped and where. Their intercom is Also loud and clear. The facility looks very clean and I did see bathrooms on the motor vehicle side but didn't actually go inside or use them. They VISA, MC, Discover, cash, and checks BUT NOT American Express. There is a 2.35% service charge to use any card though. Overall pretty happy with my service here! read more
