I recently bought some laces for another casual wear type of shoe and got some good advice too, "Just get some new shoes instead. It's not worth it for me to repair it the way that you would want." I went to Kapalama Shoe Repair in hopes of getting my outsole affixed to the midsole. I had gone to a previous shoe repair store and told to wait one day; this time my wait was five days...granted I made the request on a Friday. Paid $17 in cash and he gave me a claim ticket - it was $20 but that's all I had in cash. Returned on Wednesday ( yesterday ) and paid the balance. Work was decent with some glue showing on the upper but it was fabric and one of the more comfortable inner linings I've worn - Steve Madden - so I was glad to have it in wearable condition. My inner soul would not be at peace if I did not mention that the other shoe repair proprietor said it was not an easy job and gave me a one day wait period...I may go to him if I have another shoe issue. Parking stalls aplenty in the mall and hours are from 800a till 5.30p, except Sundays, when they're closed. read more

SERVICE REQUESTED -- Repair for shoes that separated from the sole. PRICE -- $25 for one pair of boots. Paid at drop off. WAIT TIME -- Dropped the shoes off on a Saturday afternoon and was given an estimate wait time until the next Saturday. Got a call on Wednesday afternoon to come pick it up. I have some platform boots that I adore that had split from the sole. Why pay for $100+ to get a new pair when I can just get it repaired for $25? The shoe has previously been attempted to repair (by me) using liquid nails glue, but it hadn't worked. The cobbler explained that he will sew it instead because the glue hadn't worked. When I received the shoes, I can see the stitching at the back, which I don't really mind because it gives the shoe character. He had also removed the white glue residue that had been overflowing on the sides of the sole. Be aware that the cobbler may have a language barrier because he explained multiple times that he will need to sew/stitch the soles-- which we had told him multiple times that it's fine as long as that's what he thinks is best for the shoe. By the way, they also add holes to your leather belts! My dad had paid $30 for two belts. Also dropped off on a Saturday and was ready by Wednesday afternoon. PARKING -- Many decent parking spots in Kapalama Shopping Center where this shop is located. But be prepared for the road constructions along Dillingham. First of all, we need to support this kind of local business and this kind of craftsmanship. To be honest, 20 years from now, I'm not sure we'll be able to find this kind of repair shop. This is my go to place for shoes repair. They do have a lot of parking which is one of the reason I like to go there for shoes repair. I must say the owner is a little bit not to organize some time. It takes a while for him to find my wife shoes. LOL. But he always found them. It is not very cheap to repair shoes, but if my wife spent $600 on a pair of shoes, she is not that willing to just throw them away when the shoes needs a little TLC. I dropped my bag off on Friday, and it was ready the following Wednesday. He gives you a red ticket you need to give in order to pick up your item. He put new leather on top of the rip, and sewed everything together with matching thread. The leather was matched perfectly to my bag, and I really can't tell that there was even a rip there. The guy working here said my worn down heel guards are "still good" even it's so worn down that it would be useless in less than 2 days. I have come here 3 times for shoe repairs, and I have never been disappointed. The owner really does a good job. Bring cash, it's cash only. He looks over the items, and you let him know what you need fixed. Then he'll quote you and tell you when to pick it up, and he'll give you a ticket. Make sure you bring the ticket when you pick it up. I should have written this review sooner because I can't remember if you pay upon picking up your item or when you drop it off.
