Shoe repair in Kaneohe, Oahu, Hawaii... It's challenging to find a shoe that fits well. Besides width, size, color, and style, the heel height must also be taken into consideration. Recently, when I wore a pair of well-loved dress shoes, something seemed amiss. I took a look at the sole and discovered that the heel tip was missing! Arggg! Instead of tossing the pair of shoes out, I decided to take that one shoe to the repair shop to see if it could be fixed. Mindi is a very cheerful, efficient, and competent worker. She asked for my other shoe so that she could make sure that the end result will be the same height and look. I went home to get it. When I returned, Mindi ripped off the heel tip with her fingernail showing that the adhesive was worn out. She asked for my phone number and name so that she could text me when the shoes would be ready for pickup. She said she would replace the tips with rubber which will not crack off - they would just wear down. Ahhh... A little over a week later, Mindi texted me with the shop hours... Very convenient! I told her I'd be there in a couple of days... No problem! I parked again in the free parking lot and went to the door facing Kahuhipa Street. Mindi found my shoes when I presented my claim ticket. I paid by credit card and went on my merry way! I tested out the shoes at the Hilton Hawaiian Village on 2-6-22. My grandfather was honored with a Gold Medal for being a Chinese American Veteran of World War II! Thank you, Mindi!

This zipper takes a lot of abuse because the pocket is where I keep my phone

I have a leather fanny pack that my wife gave me. After much use, one of its zippers was broken and would no longer close. Windward Shoe Repair fixed it better than new. Probably would have been cheaper to buy a new one. But my Scottish blood can't tolerate waste.

Cool equipment- not your average tool shed...

The service was great and on time like promised. I think the pricing was fair, I've never gone to a shoe repair before

My clutch cable parted and I was stuck in first gear. I had a slightly complicated delivery uphill, at a weird angle on my driveway, sandwiched between another car on a little bit of driveway and grass. He was attentive to the angle that he left the bike at so that it would not fall onto the car parked next to it, all of this while the bike was stuck in first gear. Again he was able to pick it up without me being there, and took payment painlessly over the phone. I've never met him in person yet, but when I do I will be sure to give him a high-five & shake his hand and tell him thank you for his amazing customer service. I wholeheartedly endorse and recommend using this service for all of your motorcycle towing needs. He dropped everything he was doing to come pick my bike up and quoted me a very reasonable price for that kind of service coming from the other side of the island. Don't look for anybody else; you have all you need right here! FIRST REVIEW: I am very satisfied with my experience. He got to my bike when he said he would, he was professional and courteous on the phone. His prices were better than anybody else. And settling up for payment was a cinch. It was no stress on my part to have my bike picked up. He was able to pick it up without me there, and except payment over the phone. I would highly recommend his service. Should I need a motorcycle tow again I will call here first.

How ever this is about an ongoing problem I am dealing with since the installation of my Yanmar 4LV 250 Diesel with ZT 370 out drive. On the first sea trial I was told that the engine has noise and vibration at idle, I accepted that and proceeded with the sea trial noticing that the engine has noise and vibration when turning left but the noise and vibration is non existent when going straight or turning right. As I have gotten familiar with the engine and drive I've noticed that the rough idle and noise / vibration are very different things that only occur when turning left in forward or reverse at low rpm. I had 2 separate sea trials. First sea trial with Colleen confirmed there is an alignment issue. I took the boat to their shop on a Friday and was called a few hours later to pick up the boat. No work was performed to check the alignment, they purged the power steering pump which had no affect on the noise and vibration and they adjusted the engine height at the motor mounts. I was told when picking up the boat that there is no way the alignment could be a problem as engine and drive bolt up together. If there is no possibility of an alignment problem why does Yanmar recommend having the alignment checked annually and at every 100 hours? Second sea trial with Paul, confirmed there is noise and vibration only when turning left at and above idle. He called the technical support manager at Boatswains locker and explained to me that the noise and vibration is from gear chatter because the amount of torque engine produces. BS. I spoke to the Tech support manager and confirmed that it is an alignment problem. Gear noise would occur if the boat is out of the water with engine running because there is no load on the propeller and gear train. I have also spoken to another Yanmar dealer that confirmed that it is an alignment problem that needs to be addressed by the company that installed the engine. As of 8/29/2025 nothing has been resolved, they will discuss the problem with Boatswains locker and get back to me. Hopefully sooner than later. Like Johann G, I'm waiting for a call from Tyler to see what their plan of action is. And I have the invoice that is billed for their first sea trial and engine alignment that never happened. Up date coming as soon as I hear something. P.S. Engine is quieter, more fuel efficient and powerful than my old Volvo 230 hp and the drive with counter rotating props has much better response than the 290Dp drive.

Then I discovered McCully Shoe & Luggage, thanks to Yelp and a friend's recommendation. Easy to get to. Took the #6 and got off at McCully and walked down towards Kapiolani Blvd. Brought back memories from when I used to live on Date Street back in the 1980's & 90's. Nothing much has changed, which felt kind of warm & fuzzy. Walked into the shop and Richard Pae, owner and operator of this long established neighborhood business greeted me and asked me what I needed done. I showed him my knapsack's zipper that had come apart. He looked over the zipper & couldn't find any broken "teeth" so he was baffled how the the zipper mechanism had come apart. He had me wait for a few minutes while he helped another customer, then got to work on my bag, which he fixed in no time flat. Thank you so much , Richard. Your talents will always be in demand.

I'm visiting from Texas and my Stuart Weitzman sandals (which cost $290) had a strap come apart. Since it was the closest option to my hotel, I Ubered over expecting a simple repair. The owner immediately demanded I pay the $10 fee upfront before doing any work, stating he didn't trust me. I was shocked -- I've never been treated this way at any business. To make matters worse, while I was there, another customer came in to pick up their shoes and was allowed to pay after receiving their items. That customer appeared to be of a different race than me. The clear difference in how I was treated compared to others left me feeling humiliated and certain that race played a role. This kind of discriminatory practice has no place in business today. I would strongly advise others -- especially people of color -- to take their business elsewhere. This establishment should be held accountable.
