I was very reluctant to have to go in and deal with some type of spine surgery. But Dr Moza; and his staff made me feel very comfortable prior to the procedure and after procedure felt like I was in great hands. I went through the procedure of a laminectomy and was scheduled to be out for 2 weeks to heal. Because the healing process was much quicker I have my post up follow up in 8 days. This is an update to my original review for Dr. Moza. It's been almost 8 weeks since I had a double neck surgery (anterior fusion and posterior revision). Dr. Moza not only figured out what I needed immediately but did such an amazing job with the surgery that I realized he did plastic surgery on my revision incision! It's smooth and flat where before it was ugly, lumpy and indented. I was in really bad shape before the surgery and started to suddenly lose my ability to walk, stand and my hands and arms were numb and weak due to the severe compression of my spinal cord. Dr. Moza, Candice, and Yvonne are by far the most amazing experience I have ever had with a doctor's office. He has given me so much hope for a healthy and fulfilling future and his staff was so patient and kind with all my questions and needs.  Eight years ago, when I was 15, I had surgery for chiari malformation at a different hospital done by a different doctor. The whole experience was miserable. I was in and out of the hospital for a month and I was constantly in tears because it was so painful.  I went back to my doctor at the hosptial 10 months later and told him that I still had all the same symptoms and the pain was still there. In a round about way, he told me that he was head of neurosurgery and that there was no way my pain had anything to do with the surgery he performed. To him, it was something else so he referred me to see multiple other doctors and to seek out other forms of pain management.  I was adiment about finding something to relieve the constant pain that I received from my chiari. After three years of seeing every type of doctor I could think of, I gave up. I thought that there was no hope for me and that I would have to live in pain the rest of my life. It put me, and my family, through a lot of stress and I was depressed because I had no hope for a successful future. I thought the rest of my life would be taken over by constant migraines, headaches, light sensitivity, etc. There were times when I thought there was no point in living because having to live the rest of my life in this sort of pain was not worth it.  Then came 2019 and I decided that for my New Years resolution, I would seek out a healthier and happier life. I was turning 23 and I didn't want to live in the state of despair and depression that I became so familiar with. In August I made an appointment with Dr. Moza, he performed surgery on my mom and my brother and they both are living healthy and happy lives so I went to him in hopes that he could help.  Dr. Moza was the first doctor to instill hope in my future. He was the first doctor to not write me off and pass me onto another doctor. He took the time to listen to my story, to explore my pain, and care about what I had to say. After looking at MRIs, he saw that the previous surgery I had was a failure and that everything needed to be redone. Before jumping into surgery though, he set up multiple appointments with various pain management doctors to make sure that there was no other option. After tryin everything he referred, I still had pain so he decided to proceed with the surgery. I was anxious because I didn't want to go through the same thing that had happened previously but I was hopeful and trusted him.  I've now had my surgery and I am pain free. For the first time in ten years I am not experiencing the pain that become my normal. I have hope to finish school and pursue my career because there is nothing in my way. If it wasn't for Dr. Moza and his kind and incredible staff, I don't know where I would be right now. If you feel as if there is no hope, that the pain is overwhelming and that your life is impaired because of the pain, Dr. Moza is the person to see. Pros: I was in severe pain due to a bulging disc at C-5 /C6 that Dr Moza replaced for me and the severe pain I was in went away! His initial exam was one of the most thorough ever. He's very confident and knowledgeable! Sharp guy! I was even referred to him by a top-notch orthopedic surgeon in Westlake Village who wasn't 100% convinced he himself could help me so he was willing to give up a patient to refer to the "disc king " (Dr Moza) Cons: he talks so darn fast that it's impossible to get everything understood. This is why I like to record my consultations but I don't think he's crazy about that. My advice is that he needs to slow it down especially for older people whose hearing is not that great or our brains don't work as quickly as they used to. I'd like to start off by saying that I had 2 Neurologists and 2 Neurosurgeons tell me that I did NOT have chiari malformation even though my MRI's said otherwise. I have spent years of my life feeling horrible and doctors brushing me off telling me it was stress, kids, life etc. because bloodwork always came back normal. Lets begin with Candice and Yvonne. I have NEVER had any office staff treat me the way that they did. I truly felt like like they cared. Giving me their number to text them if I had any questions or concerns or just to text to check in to see how I was doing. I mean above and beyond. Dr. Moza gave me my life back. I spent 7 months pretty much accepting the fact that the life I knew was all but over and I would likely have to deal with pain, numbness, horrendous headaches/migraines everyday for the rest of my life because all of the doctors I was seeing didn't believe the majority if any of my symptoms were chiari related. I woke. up from surgery immediately noticing that I was 100% different. That symptoms I didn't even know were chiari related were GONE. Most of the symptoms I had been experiencing, GONE. Dr. said my spinal cord was so compressed (but the others said it was so mild there was no way any issues were a result of it). I am honestly grateful the other dr's dismissed me because Dr. Moza's technigque, my incision, care is FAR SUPERIOR than any care i'm sure I would've received elsewhere. This past February, I had emergency neck surgery. I have been in a lot of pain for the past 21 years due to wear and tear of my job. However, in the past 9 months it has been getting worse so I have seen my fair share of chiropractors, massage therapists, etc. One day in February, I woke up and my entire left arm and hand were numb. I went to my doctor who ordered an MRI and by the next day was told I had a protruding herniated disc with a pinched nerve causing the numbness. He told me if he had a daughter he would send them to Dr. Moza. I had never been in so much pain in my entire life. I called him at 5pm and he saw me first thing in the morning. Even though he had other patients he moved everything for me. One look at me and he immediately gave me pain relief. He held my hand and ensured me he would take care of me and help me. Unfortunately, I had taken Ibuprofen which is a blood thinner so he couldn't perform emergency surgery. So instead he gave me an emergency epidural steroid shot in my neck. Thankfully I was finally given the emergency surgery a few days later. He removed the disc, and I had an anterior cervical discectomy in the C6 and C7 with a fusion with some pretty cool new titanium screws. I woke up in recovery with a smile on my face. Dr Moza is amazing. The surgery was a great success. I immediately trusted him and am so thankful he was my doctor. I have recommended him to five people already and will continue to do so. If you are in pain, make an appointment, bring your MRI and get his opinion. Truth is; he is out of network for many people. However, a few thousand dollars of your own money is worth it to be out of pain. read more

Let me start by saying that Dr Moza is brilliant. I have no issues with his abilities as a surgeon. My complaint is with his billing practices. He double dips- quotes you a cash price ( he was out of network with my insurance co) then after the surgery he billed the insurance company for an additional amount. When this was brought to their attention by myself and the insurance comp then neither one of us can get answers- if and when they return phone calls. Also it was stated that they would inform the insurance co of my cash payment to them which they never did. I guess the good news is that he did do a good job with my neck! read more

Worst experience I've ever had. Waited 2 weeks for an appointment. Was sent for MRI. No one from Dr Moza's office bothered to call insurance. They sent me somewhere else for the MRI. I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Moza, his office and his surgery staff. I went in to his office with excruciating pain. I had had it for 2 months due to a severe herniation in my lower spine. I had my MRI CD and report with me. He reviewed it and told me I was a candidate for his minimally invasive surgery. This was in mid Dec 2020 and was on the surgery schedule for Dec 30th. My HMO didn't cover this surgery and Dr. Moza gave me a fair cash price and I had my surgery in his surgicenter last week. It went amazingly I was home in about 5 hours.! The pain I had is gone and am now healing exactly as planned 8 days later. The incision is about and inch and a quarter and looks great! Over 4 years ago I suffered from a work place injury that ruptured my disc at L5S1 which caused me to no longer be able to work or provide for my family. I went through workers comp saw all their doctors, surgeons after surgeons, physical therapists, chiropractors, pain management doctors, acupuncturists, etc & hadn't received any type of relief whatsoever or surgery. So I got a lawyer closed my case. Shortly after my wife who happens to be a registered nurse searched all over for the best board certified surgeon, she found Dr. Moza & boy am I glad she did! Why should you visit Dr. Moza and not another Neurosurgeon? Well,, in reality there are many doctors performing these neck & back surgeries. They all went to school and successfully passed their exams to allow them to perform these procedures. So, what makes any one of them different from the other? In one word, "caring". Dr. Moza is not like the mainstream, he IS different!. Hey, I have a deformed back, my wife had problems with her arms. After approaching quite a few doctors over the years, Dr. Moza showed the absolute most caring versus "it is just my job" attitude. OK,, so, what has Dr. Moza actually fixed on us? Well, my wife ended up requiring two separate neck fusions due to pain in her arms. (Other doctors had her doing arm therapy and could not even identify her symptoms of pinched nerves.) Both her procedures were 100% successful and she is quite well and happy. Me? Due to sclerosis of my back, I had tremendous lower back pain caused by the discs being crushed and squeezing the nerves. While other doctors wanted to address one issue at a time and have numerous procedures (at a much higher costs!) Dr. Moza was skilled enough to install 8 screws, 2 rods and 2 cages that ended my pain! I was 65 at the time and recovery was a breeze. I have had other pain issues and Dr. Moza is always there figuring and explaining the least invasive measures and always does personal follow-up contacts. Sure,, it is his job just as it is for all the other doctors but Dr. Moza takes such an interest in your well being you can't help yourself from considering him a great friend. I had a three level lumbar fusion from Dr. Moza after suffering from debilitating and worsening pain for the past year. I was at the point where I was questioning my quality of life as pain pervaded every moment of my day. I had had a previous fusion surgery at one of the levels by another local neurosurgeon but it did not adequately address the issues I had and I was told I needed a three level fusion to help me get back to living again. Dr. Moza is a compassionate doctor who wants to see his patients improve and will answer a text or a call no matter what time of the day to ensure he gives you the care you need. To him surgery is an art and the patient's condition the canvas.
