The package: NCLEX-RN Complete ------SPECIFICALLY ABOUT THE SJ CENTER------ The staff here is super friendly. I'm surprised they started recognizing me by name after only a couple days. I was able to borrow one of their extra course books the first few days of class because mine hadn't come in the mail yet... Kind of wish I'd known at the time, so make sure you pay for your class in full 2-3 weeks before it actually begins so you have enough time to get it in the mail and familiarize yourself with its content and layout. The classrooms are clean but poorly designed for large groups; long tables are arranged in rows, and while students in my class tried to stagger themselves a bit to make it easier to see the board/projector image, it's a good idea to strategically pick your seat to avoid having obstructions in your field of vision. Also, depending on the size of your class, you may or may not have much elbow room. Luckily, the class doesn't require you to bring much to class except maybe your brain, so I didn't need to scatter notes/books about as much as I normally do. That being said, watch your drinks! Space is sort of tight between rows, so there's a good chance someone might accidentally swing their purse/backpack/bag while trying to get past and knock coffee all over your notes. (Didn't happen to me, but I got front-row seats to the show!) Restrooms are also in short supply (2 stalls for women), making break time = standing in line for the bathroom time. Our instructor, Veronica, was friendly and her sense of humor definitely helped to make class as painless as having to sit in class after graduating could be. The center's in downtown so there's no way to get around having to pay for parking. I found the best option to be the lot next to the Diridon Caltrain station for $3/day. Plenty of spots, and it's a nice 5-10 min stroll down San Fernando. ------GENERALLY ABOUT KAPLAN------ Extensive QBank with generally helpful rationales, but some of the questions really seem like a stretch, prompting me to wonder if such obscure questions would really be asked on the actual NCLEX. Some explanations were spotty, and assume that you already know the material. However, there are well over 1500 questions to go through throughout the course of the subscription so you definitely get a good feel for what the NCLEX will be like. No surprises on test day. Content-wise, don't expect to get too much of a review. The Course Review Book supposedly has all the information you need for the exam, but I often had to refer to my Saunders review book to connect the dots and make sense of it. Kaplan definitely focuses on strategy over content, although very rarely did I consciously apply said strategy. Maybe it became innate? The greatest advantage to using Kaplan (for me) is being able to identify what you know and what you need to review by going through a billion practice questions. No matter what, you'll need to put in the time and effort into studying whether you go with Kaplan or another review course. I never had any problems with their 1-800 customer service. They were very gracious in helping me to transfer my course from Chicago to SJ while allowing me to keep my discounted rate. On another occasion (or two...), I fell asleep while taking the QTrainers and they were happy to reset them for me. While I was highly doubtful of my success after taking the NCLEX, Kaplan must be doing something right because I PASSED!!!!!! Money well-spent, if you ask me. read more

While I had a good instructor, I dislike Kaplan. They recently changed their program to be all online and it does not work well. Assignments often times do not show up as completed. While Kaplan has an exclusive agreement with Pearson to take GMATs at the center, they do not link up with the dashboard so you cannt see your score nor review your answers. This defeats taking a practice exam. Their customer service is slow and generally does not help. I've spent so much time on hold and then the problems I want fixed cannot be right then so they write it down. My problems gets lost in translation and is never fixed. It's VERY frustrating. I suggest buying several GMAT books on your own and studying. If this isn't sufficient, higher a private tutor from a different provider. read more

once upon a time, in the 90s, kaplan helped me prep for the GRE and the time came for getting my son some additional test prep for his SAT/ACT tests coming up so i went to kaplan.com to get him registered. The site quoted me $1280.00 for their unlimited practice test prep bundle for the sat/act/psat and it was perfect. Things fell apart when I got to the registration screen and that $1280 price had magically changed to $1599. I immediately tried their online support, who immediately said they would transfer me to sales and instead disconnected the chat and their stupid chat program deletes the conversation without emailing it to you even when you requested it. Upon seeing no email with the number to call I went back online and opened their support window and again they said they would connect me and again instead of connecting they disconnected me and deleted the chat. I wrote the sales number down and their sales support were equally incompetent at their jobs- no one could close a very easy sale at $1280 and instead they kept trying to upsell me on classes I did not want. The fact their site misquotes prices to me and tried to bait-n-switch is all i need to know to avoid them. Strongly recommend you avoid kaplan.com Sidenote- after this experience with kaplan.,com i googled best SAT test prep and turns out there is now free SAT prep available at khan academy online, which i directed my son to and he has been thriving with it so far! thanks kaplan.com for forcing me to find your much cheaper competition! read more

Sign my daughter back in October for her class. Kaplan canceled at the last minute right before the holidays and left me scrambling to find a new class. I would HIGHLY advise everyone to steer clear of this company. The one star is for the nice man on the phone that refunded my money. read more

Kaplan is the worst. Their methods are terrible. There are so many great companies out there for the LSAT and Kraplan isn't one. Their in person courses made my scores go down. Their books are filled with their own in house garbage material. There are no gimmicks to the LSAT. Learning how to read and understand arguments is what it takes and it will do you well in law school. Kaplan will insist on there being easy ways and hack. You'll just be screwing yourself in the long run. They're big company garbage catering to people who don't know any better until after they have your money. read more

Great program. EXTREMELY POOR customer service. They only respond to you when convenient for them (aka when you've dropped big bucks on their products) and they don't even answer your question. They simply let you know that you can message them if you need anything else (they only reply because they can see you've purchased something) and never actually reply to anything else or get back to you unless, once again you drop that cash but the same cycle repeats. DON'T DO IT!!! I'd previously completed an LSAT prep at Kaplan and it was okay. Not stellar, but good enough that I signed up for a GRE on demand course. Big mistake. My enrollment was incorrectly processed so there was a 3 week delay. Then, I was able to access my online account, but never received the course materials. Oh, and I was billed TWICE for the same program. When I called (as I did many, many times) the staff seemed clueless and apathetic. I was disconnected more than once and left on hold for times up to a half hour while someone "checked with a supervisor" about my account. Each call resulted in them telling me that a refund for the double enrollment charge would be forthcoming. I was also informed that "the problem" was that my address wasn't in the system and that the books would be sent immediately via expedited shipping. Never received the books. Beyond frustrated. After five address updates, my patience was depleted so I asked to cancel my enrollment. I was promised a refund which never appeared (not unlike the course materials), so I had to file a complaint with my credit card company. Kaplan then refunded my money, less a bogus $25 processing fee. Save yourself the frustration, particularly during the test prep time when stress levels are elevated. Don't choose Kaplan, they're just the worst! read more

I signed up my son for a Kaplan SAT test prep class at his high school in Cupertino; they were supposed to send him the books that go with the course...after repeated emails and numerous phone calls, they sent the books 4 weeks after the class had started. DO NOT SIGN YOUR CHILD UP FOR THEIR SAT PREP CLASS! I signed my daughter up for their prep class that was to start January 5th back in October. Eight days before the class was supposed to start (with a weekend and New Year holiday, so really 5 days) they called to tell me that it was canceled. When they called to cancel they really stressed the online option, if I wanted an online class I would have signed up for that. I did find a different company and called Kaplan for a refund, which they did but when I received the email they had charged me a $25 fee, for the books for the class they canceled! After yet another phone call I will get the book fee back, in 3-5 business days. Awful business practice to cancel a class so close to start date for such an important test and to charge for the books when you cancel. Very frustrating way to spend part of the holidays. Save yourself some time and frustration and look elsewhere! read more

Kaplan's NCLEX RN Review was a waste of time and money. When I took the NCLEX and passed, it was nursing school and uworld review that I thought about as I answered questions, rather than Kaplan's cheesy test-taking process/strategy. At the end, when I'd completed all of Kaplan's boring useless course, their "customer service" staff verbally acknowledged I'd completed it all ok, but for 3 weeks of my calls, emails and begging, they refused to give me the course completion letter which I had specifically asked about and had been promised by 2 different employees before paying the course and 2 others during the course. Because in the end they refused to give me a completion letter, I was unable to get a pre-approved tuition reimbursement through my employer-provided benefit. Even though I'd already passed the NCLEX first attempt, they're apparently programmed to prevent the people who don't pass the exam claiming the guaranteed refund of hundreds of dollars. So, Kaplan won't acknowledge your course completion because their primary way to deny someone a refund is claiming someone didn't complete their course. If they had been honest up front when I asked about the course completion letter needed for my job benefits tuition reimbursement, I would have saved over $400 and the many wasted hours that I devoted to completing their unnecessarily long and not-so-helpful course. Early on, I could see my valuable study time would have been better spent in Saunders book, UWORLD, or simply taking the NCLEX earlier. I definitely will not recommend Kaplan or use their services again, because of the dishonesty and poor quality of overpriced product / service. read more
