I hired grade potential for some math tutoring for my son. I hired them by calling them and arranging for the tutoring over the phone. No commitment, package or contract was discussed. There was no contract sent or signed. It was just supposed to be tutoring at an hourly rate of $59/ hour, based on an oral conversation over the phone. My son received tutoring inconsistently, on an as needed basis, which we arranged directly with the tutor. Grade Potential was billing me $216 twice a month. I called and told them as soon as I noticed these recurring charges that my son wasn't getting that much tutoring each month and why were they billing me like that. The guy said I could pause the billing, he would issue a partial refund, and I would have 12.5 "banked hours" of tutoring that had already been paid for that I could use before I would be charged again. This was documented in an email, which I provided. They issued the partial refund and tutoring was paused for the summer In Fall 2024, my son started getting the tutoring again. Instead of using my 12.5 "banked hours" that I had already paid for in the previous school year, they just started charging my card again- $216 twice a month. I called again, the woman was extremely rude. She kept insisting I had a "package" and they were going to charge me whether I used the services or not. I told her about the previous communication, that I had banked hours and was told no charges were supposed to be made to my card until those hours were used up. She refused to issue a refund and they've continued to bill me ever since. I've sent multiple emails telling them they are not authorized to charge my credit card. They keep charging me. At this point they have charged me $4104 in improper charges. They are not responding to my emails. This is complete fraud. My son hasn't revived any tutoring and they continue to bill me! read more

For the most part people are quick to write reviews when something goes wrong. I wanted to take some time and review my experience with Grade Potential of San Jose Ca.. I have a grandchild who I wanted to have tutored since he is outgrowing the current curriculum he is receiving. My daughter contacted Grade Potential and I signed up for their services. Scheduling was difficult as a result of not being able to accommodate our schedule and illness on the part of the tutor (no fault on anyones part). A month after signing up no sessions were completed. I opted to keep my grandson in the other program since he was getting deep into the subject matter at hand. I contacted Grade Potential and explained my issues asking that efforts to schedule be discontinued. I spoke with Cecilia who was very kind and understanding. She explained that she would process a refund for two payments since the second payment had already been charged. She asked that I not attempt to resolve the issue through the CC company since I would be reimbursed within 3-4 business days. It only took 3 days and charge was reversed on my CC. Unlike many businesses that take 7-10 days! This experience was reminiscent of customer service of years gone by. Cecilia was not only very professional but was also empathetic. Should I ever need services for any of my grandchildren I will definitely use Grade Potential services. read more

Negative 10 stars!! This business is a total scam. Do NOT consider their tutoring service. I learned it the hard way.. They attempted to arrange me 2 tutors respectively and both were no call no show. Both tutors called me back after the fact and gave me excuses. The first no call no show, I gave her another chance because I understand things happen in life. I am a very reasonable person. She showed up once and no call no show again. The second tutor they provided me was another no call no show. This entire whole ordeal lasted over 1-2 months. It also took them forever to find me a matching tutor. The turnaround time was a joke. I have never experienced such a horrible tutoring service experience. I've requested to stop service and request refund. No one is getting back to me and they continue to charge me. This kind of business operates is utterly unlawful and unethical. I am traumatized. Do yourself a favor. Do NOT consider this company. It is a SCAM!!! read more

Two tutors back to back canceled on the day of the lesson an hour before the lesson and I was charged for three sessions with not even one session done. Absolutely don't recommend this for any child that needs structure. Will never do this again read more

This tutoring service is a scam, particularly the Grade potential tutoring in the Laverne/ Claremont/ Pomona areas. They charge for tutoring service whether or not tutoring actually happens. If the tutor cancels or you cancel you are still charged the biweekly fee, whether or not the tutoring actually happens. They use any card on file that you have used, even if they say they will remove the card information. They double charge on the same day and they dont return the charge they just say it'll go toward the next service.When signing up they only mention the "special" price" due biweekly. What they don't tell you is that they sign you up for 48+ tutoring sessions, and that you are bound to that contact. Once this 48 weeks is over I will NEVER use this company ever again. Don't sign up with the Grade potential tutoring, especially the Laverne/Claremont/Pomona areas, unless you want to be scammed out of hundreds of dollars. I suggest you do a trial run with the Tutor or find another tutoring service, to pay the tutor directly and cut out the middle man. The tutor was great but the middle man "Grade scam potential"is terrible. I will never use this service again. read more

Grade Potential Tutoring is a fantastic resource for academic support and mentoring. I've been using their services for about five years, first for my daughter and now for my son. We worked with several tutors and we loved every single one of them! Particularly Kurt, who helped my daughter with her creative writing, and now Douglas, who works with my 6 year old son that counts the minutes to his next meeting with his tutor! I have been using grade potential on and off for about 9 years. Recently I got in contact with them again to help me prepare for the GMAT. They have always been very attentive and aim to serve your specific needs as a student. Imran Dossa always arrived on time and came well prepared to each of our sessions. He is very thorough in his explanations for the quantitative section of the test. Imrans passion for teaching others is evident in his knowledge of the subjects and dedication to making sure his students understand the material well. Ian Inocencio is also a very incredible teacher. He is very knowledgeable and listens carefully to your specific questions about the material. It was very enjoyable to learn with him, much like a study session with a friend. Over all I had great experience with grade potential, I highly recommend them for anyone struggling in a subject or for any standardized test. I've have been using this service for nearly five years now and I am extremely pleased with the quality of tutors I've interacted with for my two children. Professional, knowledgeable and relatable to young children and teens. They have a genuine enjoyment in teaching their subject matter and I see a change in my children's attitudes toward the subjects that were thorns for them. When I've interacted with the program administration office, that too has been a good interaction. Capable, clear on explanation and expectations.
