100% recommend. We are a family of 5 (3 teens and 2 adults). We did the Zipline Lava tour! Our guide (Dylan) was absolutely awesome. He knew everything about everything we saw - volcanos, lava, plants, trees, etc. Our Zipline guides were amazing, funny, supportive, and helpful! We zipped 8 lines covering more than a mile that went over numerous waterfalls. Good lunch with local fruits. Saw volcanos, watched bubbling lava, did a wine tasting and dinner at a vineyard, and watched the glow of the lava in at night. The entire family had an incredible time which is saying something when you have 3 teenagers! :-) read more

We were a little nervous about the zip lines in the down pour of rain that was going on the day of our zip. But once we got to the zip location and met our guides all our worries were gone. The rain made us zip faster and made the river and waterfalls massive! The guides took our safety to the upmost importance and we never felt unsafe at all. The whole team of guides were great with our 7 & 5 year old kiddos, by the end of the zip my kids were chatting with our guides like they were family. Highly recommend the Coffee, Winery, & Volcano Tour - well the volcano part once things quiet down. If you are lucky you will get our guide Chris - he was amazing! The whole KapohoKine team was pretty great too. The Big Island is huge. So if you want to enjoy the sights, some Kona Coffee tasting , and wine tasting with BBQ dinner and not have to drive yourself - DO IT! It is so worth the price plus you get to hear a few great stories of the Gods and Night Marchers that you might not taking in the sights on your own. Lunch, snacks, & dinner are included. This is my 2nd time on this island and I really wish I had gone on the tours the first time I visited. I should start by saying I have zip lined all over central America & US so this wasn't my first experience. This was BY FAR the best zipline experience I have been on. The bus ride up with Anthony pretty entertaining and insightful on the history of Hilo. Once we got up to the campground to put on our gear the rest of the team gave us complete instructions on the gear and to the quality of the harness (the gucci of harness). We proceeded to the first zip with KDK (Kendal, Devin and Kanani) leading the way and I felt VERY confident in two things: 1)Safety is top of mind 2)We are going to have a real good time Both of those two things were very true all throughout the day. We did a zip line and ATV combo in Hilo! It was awesome. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend it if you in Kona or Hilo. It's an hour and half from Kona. We had BBQ lunch provider with it as well as swimming in a waterfall. It was fresh water from th top of the mountain. ATV and Zipline are both recommended! It was a little disorganized in between our activities but we hiked back to the main area after swim and eating.. drive from hotel and back to check in area was informational! So my wife dragged me to this "adventure" for our wedding anniversary. I do not do well with heights but these guys made it fun (well, as much fun as you can have when screaming mild profanity while hurtling through the air with a death grip on that tiny piece of nylon preventing impending doom). The staff were awesome at trying to reassure me and only mildly teasing me at the end. From what I saw the sights were great. Apparently I would have seen more had I opened my eyes more. Would I recommend it? Hell yes! Would I do it again? Not without a bottle of liquid courage with a refill at the halfway point. I would love to mention some of the staff by name, but given my sheer terror from start to finish, I can barely remember my own, let alone anyone else's. But there was a really nice driver who only mildly rattled my brains on the ride back (but really my knees were still rattling from fear, so it was mild in comparison) and a lovely woman with a multi-colored fox tail who was super nice to my wife and assured me I wasn't going to die, and that there were only 17 more Ziplines after the 4th one. So if you have a fear of heights, and/or a partner who enjoys seeing you suffer, enjoys having you weak at the knees and shaking uncontrollably, and staff that may occasionally help extend your utter torture, then this will have you from the start. Or, if you're just crazy and twisted and generally enjoy these sorts of insane activities, like my wife, then you're sure to have a great time. read more

Unbelievable! Grant, our guide, picked us up from our house in morning and was with us pretty much the whole day. It's hard to describe just how great Grant was. From his personality to his knowledge of the island, everything was great. He drove us to our ZipLine then to the helicopter tours and then to finish the day he drove us to the Volcano. All along the way, Grant entertained us with his stories and knowledge of the island. We spent around 14 hours on the tour, including the ZipLine and Helicopter (which was cancelled due to weather) and the Volcano tour. Grant picked us up and dropped us off. I HIGHLY recommend this tour and I HIGHLY recommend getting Grant as your guide. I'm sure every other guide is great but my experience with Grant too good not to recommend him. Just finished the zip lining package with optional BBQ lunch. It was fantastic - definitely exceeded my expectations! Our driver, Tiffany, set the tone for the day, providing local history stories and recommendations interspersed with jokes. Our guides - Leigh, Brayden, Lina - were awesome! I went here to go ATV riding and Lani, Burt, Angel and casiy were my tour guides. They were great tour guides, they gave us alot of information about the island told us about places to eat, beaches to visit, and things to do My wife and I asked about a plant and if any grow around there. They were happy to take us to see it, it was close to the trail. Lani cooked the pre ordered meals and told us store or the island and also told us things to do and places to eat. Wow! I gotta say this was by far one of the greatest highlights of our one week trip to Hawaii. We got the complete package, got picked up by Eddy at the hotel & started with ATV off-roading with our guides Zach, Kaanoa (hope I spelled his name right) & Casey, very cool dudes and fun first adventure. Then we got our lunch, pork ribs and chicken made by our pick up guy Eddy, great guy very friendly, so nice, he cooked for us, brought us drinks, and we had our bbq ribs right by the waterfall. Zip lining is so fun! My dad and I booked our zip line adventure through the Hilton Grand Naniloa Hotel. We're glad they asked us if we were local because they offer a kama'aina discount. It is a pricier activity to participate in, but the experience surpasses the cost. The company and the hotel made everything very convenient! Our group was picked up at the hotel and then driven back afterwards. We were provided with jackets, backpacks, safety gear, fresh produce, and an optional go-pro. Our guides were Orie, Lexi, Kailoa, and Alika. They were the best! Everyone is well-trained and very comfortable on the course. We felt very safe! They made sure that our equipment was properly on and everyone was clipped to something when off the ground. Their zip line is unique because it is a double line for each line, and there are two lines side-by-side so that you can zip alongside someone. There is also an automatic breaking system to make stopping at the end easier. There is always a guide at the end of each line to help you get onto the next platform. This course is made of 8 lines that progress in length and scenery. Hilo is beautiful. The zip line puts you right above the grass, trees, waterfalls, etc. KapohoKine is one of the best ways to experience and appreciate the island. read more

I took my family ( ages 19, 15, 8 and 40) on the UTV tour with Kapoho Kine. Once we finally made it-we all had a blast. Booking was easy and quick, dates were available to our needs, cost was okay, and we were set ready to go!!!! Then the week wait..... Sunday pulls around after it's been raining all week and our date is beautiful, sunny, and muddy! Yes! Geting checked in was a pain due to a new system yet the kinks were quickly worked out. We load into the van with our super friendly, kind, and informational driver and we were off. A short but rather bumpy ride up ( with ocean views, macadamia trees, cow pastures and beautiful volcanic scenes ) and we are at a stunning location. We finish our check in, get sized for helmets and assigned our razors. Then we were rolling. First little loops was a get the hang of the steering, gas, break, ect.... and we stopped for a photo shoot and informational minute. Then off on twists and turns through pastures. After a quick pit stop with delicious apple bananas and beautiful waterfall it's on the road again. This is were it got really good. Slipping and sliding- mud from bottom up and top down, flying past us and geting on us and stinkY, sticky, thick ,nasty ,fun, stinky ,MUD!! Everywhere. Lots of laughter and tonz of smiles. Loops and twists and another round in the gooey parts, one more track in the sliding part and then we stopped .....?.... Turn off the machines and walk dawn some steep but WORTH IT stairs to...????? A extraordinary and enticing waterfall with a fresh water pond. Time for a dip. Kids get in and wash off a bit, they enjoyed the refreshing clean water and appealing jungle rainforest. Everywhere you look it is mother nature at her best. They did not want to get out (a bit too cold for this wimp). Back for one or two more loops on the machines then back to the start. We all had a super time and Wish it would have lasted longer. If you can make it while in Hilo town I highly suggest you do, well that's only if you don't mind geting your hands (and everywhere else) dirty. read more

We bought a Groupon for our trip and scheduled over the phone from the mainland. From start to finish we had an amazing experience. When we called we ended up adding the bbq and waterfall swim to the end of our zip lining adventure, it was so worth it!! The waster was pretty cold. We took our 7 & 10 year old along with us and they loved it!! Both of our guides were excellent with our kids and even picked wild guavas for them along the way!! Went on the zipline tour "zip and swim" with my boyfriend for Valentine's day. Our guides Destiny, Ikaika and Ona (trainee) were fantastic! They were very entertaining and friendly and kept everyone safe at all times. They even had to do a few retrivals for us (because we were not being aero dynamic) and that was a lot of fun too. The views were amazing and the lines get better and better, with the final line being the best because it's half a mile long and you get to go super fast along the valley and over water falls. The swim portion of our tour was nice.. in a private smaller waterfall. We were served food and drinks and had the falls all to ourselves. The water was very "invigorating" (cold) but it's to be expected in the wintertime. Still a beautiful location. I would recommend anyone looking for a family fun adrenaline rush to head to zipline through paradise! read more

A+++ Amazing tour guide!" On my recent trip to Hawaii, we signed up for an all-day adventure tour, to include zip lining, wine tasting, helicopter rides, etc. We were told it would be a long day and all the events we had planned for the day most people do over 2-3 days. Well, they were right! We were literally on the tour for 15 hours. But, it was worth it!! I would definitely recommend this company to do some, if not all, of the adventures we took. If you do, ask for Lawrence to be your guide. He was AMAZING! Extremely knowledgeable about the culture and the islands. There wasn't a question he didn't know the answer to and was very entertaining. As we drove across the island to our first destination, Kapohkine Zipline, Lawrence educated us about the volcanoes of the island and what we were seeing, and what to expect as we climbed the elevation. He even stopped so we could take pictures. He played trivia games with us about the islands as we drove throughout the day. I don't think he stopped talking until everyone fell asleep on the way home. Kapohkine Zipline - A++ Awesome crew: The zip line crew was awesome (Nate, Kailoa, and Lono) They were all very personable, funny and helpful. Some of us were nervous the first couple of legs. After that, we were all good to go. The crew really made the trip even better. They too were knowledgeable of the areas we were in. Would tell us when to look for the waterfalls and which ones they were. Our zip line took a little longer than anticipated, so the crew rushed us ahead so Lawrence could get us to our chopper tour (Blue Hawaiian Helicopters) in time. The other group we were with had a later tour than ours, so Lawrence took us into town to Hilo to walk around the farmer's market and shops. Volcano Winery - B: Our next stop was the winery for a tasting and a BBQ dinner. The ribs were awesome! I hail from Houston, TX so I was very surprised at how good the ribs were. I traded my chicken with someone so I could get more. We had a simple tasting of several of the wines they offered. I'm not a wine connoisseur, and it's relative to the owner of the taste buds, but in general, it was more about the novelty of the grapes being grown from the lava soil. The wines were good to tasty, and I even purchased a bottle to bring home. However, I wouldn't say the wines were must haves. The staff was friendly and offered a tour of their vat, but not the fields I believe due to the weather. It was misting and getting dark. Lawrence offered to take make a special pit stop (not part of the tour) on our way to our next destination. He took us to a lava tube in the rainforest. We walked through the rainforest and down through the tube. He even found a special lava rock to show us. It's light as a feather and looks like a sponge consistency that crumbles to dust if you touch it too hard. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park - B Great panoramic views!!: We headed to our last stop on the tour, the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. We walked through the open museum to look and learn while we waited for the sky to go completely black and hope for the fog to lift some. We watched the dark sky light up and glow from the Kilauea, an active volcano, about a mile away from us. Just amazing. Lawrence stayed by the van and found lava glass for us to look at, it looks like strands of hair. It's actually called Pele's hair (Fire Goddess). As we made our way back down the mountain to head back to our hotels, Lawrence stopped so we could check out the steam vents. We were able to look down into them and feel the steam surround us. It definitely warmed us up as we were 6800 ft. above sea level. Of course, we froze again once we got out of them. We used KopahoKine Adventures to take us on an all day volcano trip with a volcano winery dinner. Absolutely fantastic, our tour guide was originally from Chicago and I loved him from the first Hawaiian legend/story he told us in the van on the way to see the volcano. Although you can probably venture into the National Volcano Park without a tour guide iI would not recommend it. It is an over 8 mile hike through the crater and do need to be healthy and also know the way. Something so simple as "Ok guys now we are going to climb," gives you a heads up, to what is coming. He just new all the stops, all the panoramic spots to take photos and gave so much background and history. I loved it. The volcano winery dinner was very nice pairing with the trip and I enjoyed the wine tasting, food was really delicious. Absolutely worth it and fantastic experience! read more

We actually did an ATV tour with them after our previous ATV tour canceled on us. Kudos for the quick reservation and service. The ATV's were great, long tour and fun guides. We even crossed a see saw bridge on them. They have Razor's that can seat 4 if you have non drivers (we did and it was as much fun). Only suggestion would be to make less stops, the ATV's were so fun we wanted to keep going. read more
