I had an appointment set by the VA for 4 pm yesterday. It was for a deeply personal claim. I got there on time and first had to prove I had the exam, so I showed them the letter. Then I was told the provider, Karen M, wasn't there. I was crying at this point because this is a 2 1/2 year claim. Another woman came out and said, "the VA canceled it". She asked if I wanted her to contact the owner. I said yes, sat down and called a friend because I was upset. Next thing I know a male cop comes in. I got off the phone then he comes over- stands over me- wants to know what was going on. i asked him to back up. I wasn't threatening anyone, didn't threaten myself, I was crying. That's it. He wouldn't. I was traumatized enough from the military. I didn't want to have to talk to a stranger about what happened. The request was for a female provider for a reason. Now a Plymouth police MAN is asking me what happened and standing OVER ME. Then a second MALE Officer comes in. I leave, they stand there banging on my car window. it got worse- I got home and a MALE Canton cop was at my door waiting for me. Karalee & Associates are HORRIBLE. I called the VA ---- they did NOT cancel the exam, but now I run the risk of losing my claim because Karalee (contracted by Optum Serve) didn't see me. These counselors should know how to NOT escalate a situation. They certainly should not be seeing Veterans. read more

Do not, I repeat, do not go here. This place is fraudulent and an absolute scam. I took my daughter here for therapy, and her dad's insurance that she was under switched through therapy. Rather than reach out to me on my phone personally, they mailed me a bill. I called numerous times and left multiple messages to billing trying to take care of the issue. Come to find out they sent to collections and a law firm reaches out to me and it was two bills, another they were billing to our super old address. (Which is strange, they know I moved hence the one bill being sent to my current address) The insurance she switched to may have actually been able to cover the bill but because they waited YEARS to notify me that insurance didnt pick these bills up, it is now too late to bill out insurance. They are unprofessional and didn't even help my daughter if anything made her worse. They prey on already vulnerable individuals going through a hard time to try to find a loophole to financially hurt a family. I am actually in disbelief and will be contacting BBB as I would not want ANYONE else to go through what we have with this place. Take you or your child elsewhere, this place will create mental trauma by having to deal with them and try to reach them on a daily basis. Let these reviews speak for themselves. They have less than 3 stars for a reason. They'd probably have even less but their clients may not be the type to want to speak up on their scams. Do your research! This place is only concerned about the bottom line, NO concern for their patients. They made it mandatory to see my therapist 2xs per month in order to have a medication review, even when both the doctor and therapist both said I'm stable. The doctor then lied to me and said she couldn't fill a three month mail-in prescription (trying to save a $) and had to see me every month to refill my prescription, which was a flat out lie according to the law, and I'd suspect that is against their Hippocratic Oath, which would mean that's grounds to get their license revoked. I would HIGHLY recommend not going here if you truly have your or loved ones best interests in mind. read more

Absolutely awful for many reasons. I was referred here after consulting with my doctor options for treatment for my eating disorder. After arrival, and meeting with the assigned therapist, I could sense that she wasn't necessarily qualified for or experienced with this issue, and it made me extremely uncomfortable right off the bat, as this was my first attempt to seek some form of treatment for my disorder. It was extremely difficult to talk to her about the disorder or treatment relating to it, and she was not helpful in any regard guiding the sessions appropriately, as the sessions were often very off topic and seemed to be more generalized then what my specific needs were. Later on, after minimal time spent addressing my disorder throughout our sessions, she suggested that I seek a higher form of treatment for my disorder... I would have been fine with this if we had actually spent ample time talking about my disorder, and if I had felt that she had the qualifications and knowledge actually needed to make that form of recommendation to me. I was under the impression that my therapist was qualified for this, seeing as I was initially referred to this office for this specific issue. After consulting with several other offices, I have found out that this is not the case. Anyways, I am currently seeking a more specialized therapist for this issue, and I would recommend all others to do the same. If you're interested in actually attempting to better your mental health without prescription medication, this is not the place for you. During the first or second visit, after an awkward and unproductive session with that same mediocre therapist to say the very least, she attempted to push me to see a psychiatrist so that I could be prescribed medication for my anxiety disorder. After declining and expressing my wishes to steer away from prescription medications (as my family has a long history of addiction and abuse, particularly with anxiety medications) she seemed totally lost as to other suggestions to better my current mental health. Not sensing the immediate red flags with this place, I continued to go to therapy sessions with this woman, who's only advice was for me to "meditate" and "try to hang in there!", and when I told this therapist that her suggestions were neither helpful, nor effective for someone like me, she actually got OFFENDED and proceeded to tell me once again that I needed medication because "obviously what we're doing in therapy isn't working"... 0_o needless to say, I chewed her out, and haven't been back since. Complete waste of time, money, and energy. Don't take your kids here, I have a feeling that they overprescribe and push medication on a lot of people, even when they really don't need anything more than a DECENT and specifically qualified therapist. I actually left this office feeling WORSE off, and unworthy of help without prescription medication. I now know that there are other options out there that are actually focused on helping people, not making a profit. Do your research and don't just go with the first thing your doctor recommends, because ultimately you know what is best for you, and you don't need pushy people telling you differently because they suck at their jobs. **** also, take a look at what they're billing your insurance for. I noticed that they billed my insurance for a code that was for attention deficit disorder, but I have NEVER BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH THAT IN MY LIFE. As well as incorrectly using a billing code that differed from my actual eating disorder. I'm not sure why they would do that, but I'm looking into it with a family member who practices law.... I went with my kids here. I can only speak about the therapist we had and he was mediocre at best and so convoluded and abstract in his discussion and analogies that I had times of wondering what he was trying to say, let alone what a kid would understand. When the power went out for days, I actually went to their building to find out what was going on as we didn't hear from them and their phones weren't working. They acted perplexed as to why I would even wonder if they were open (um, because there's no power?). When I called the therapist, he didn't know the power was out so he could contact his clients to give them the option to reschedule when there would be heat and lights. I sent an email to the staff/owner and heard nothing back which was disappointing. Better therapists are out there and like any medical provider, you have to try them on and see if it's a fit. read more

My son see's a therapist and psychologist for his ADD. He's seen three others in the past that weren't very good and at this facility I WAS pleased with both of them initially. I did have my son start with one psychologist there (male), who neither of us cared for. I requested he be switched and we got a female, who was much more intuitive and personable. Then a few weeks later I couldn't reach her for love or money when my son starts having problems with his anti-depressent. For two weeks I called her and got no response. The office also screwed up our billing 4 months in a row. I'm out of here. read more

My Therapist is wonderful and the staff is always extremely kind when I go in. Very flexible, easy to work with, highly recommended.

We have dealt with this practice for years. This is a poorly managed practice. They have trouble keeping qualified psychiatrists on staff. My children have seen a total of 4 psychiatrist since they started there. One would literally fall asleep during our session. The last one we really liked, she took her time and invested in her patients. However, she left after a few months because of the way the practice was mismanaged. Their nurse practitioner claims she can no longer prescribe controlled substances to adults. According to the receptionist, that's because they are under investigation by the state. The company that handles their billing is a complete and utter mess. Constant problems trying to have insurance billed correctly. If it wasn't for the fantastic relationship and care we get from our therapist (the ONLY person we will see and reason we will stay) we would have left a long time ago. As it is, I have sought psychiatric services from a more capable facility. This place is not worth the headache. read more

Let me start by saying my children's therapist is fantastic. The office staff, not so much. This is a very poorly managed practice. Constant issues with scheduling and rescheduling. Most recently, they called me the morning of an appointment to tell me it was cancelled. I had already spoken with our therapist and he was shocked that the office staff didn't call me the week before to let me know he was out. An hour AFTER speaking to him, the office called to tell me the appointment was cancelled. When I pointed out to the woman calling that I had spoken to our therapist and that she was suppose to have called me last week, she quickly said thank you and hung up on me! Consistent psychiatric care is non existent here. This practice has trouble keeping competent psychiatrists on staff. We saw a total of FIVE during our time there. They were not very thorough in their evaluations. We even had one fall asleep during a visit in the middle of writing a prescription! When they finally did get a psychiatrist who took their time with evaluations and actually got to know a patient, that one left after being at the practice for a few months. They didn't have anyone to take over and patients were only given the option of seeing a nurse practitioner who wouldn't prescribe my adult son his ADD medication that he had been taking for MONTHS and was documented in his chart as such because he was an adult and not currently taking college courses. The reason we were given, they were being watched by the state. We also have had continual problems with billing at this place. This is not a place I would ever recommend anyone to. read more

Went to this place as a kid, and recently started going again. In January, after seeing a specific therapist for over two years, I was suddenly informed that she left the practice, and I was only told after my second or third attempt to contact her. I was scheduled with another therapist, the owner of the clinic. It went poorly, and frequently left the office more stressed out than when I arrived. After four visits, I switched to a third therapist, and was totally unaware and wasn't at any point told that she deals almost exclusively with children. It might've been good information to have before going in and having two awkward meetings with a therapist who genuinely looked like she graduated a year ago. Now, the psychiatrists. I've been through no fewer than four of them (bearing in mind that I've only been going there two years). Two were awful, one was okay but left after three months, and the fourth is absolutely fantastic. However, when she tried to write me a prescription for a totally run-of-the-mill medication, every part of the front office came unraveled. First, I was contacted by my insurance company, reminding me that prescriptions for Schedule II substances can't be sent via fax, which is standard procedure that even I, the patient, already knew about. I thought, sure, it might've been a mistake, but when I called the office I was told that they couldn't send the prescription electronically, because they somehow don't HAVE e-prescribing capabilities in the year 2018. The second bit of my adventure came when my insurance told me that Concerta requires a prior authorization before it's covered under my plan. That's also not uncommon, especially when your insurance company is picky and annoying like mine is. Then, the rep told me that she'd sent the prior auth request to the office, but it hadn't been completed and sent back within the required time frame. At no point was I told by the office about any of this garbage, so I spent hours going back and forth with my insurance only to figure out that the entire problem was the incompetence of the office staff. I don't think anyone should need to have a profound, complicated understanding of how insurance works in order to get care. When I finally established with Karalee that no, you can't fax Concerta prescriptions, and no, you can't just let a prior auth form sit on your desk for two weeks, the claim was auto-denied. It was then that the office told me that, because they can't e-prescribe, I could come in to pick up and MAIL a paper copy of the prescription to my insurance. At this point, I gave up. It would take another week to get processed, and I had absolutely no faith whatsoever that the office could do the prior auth right this time. This was a prescription for a routine, common drug that I refuse to believe they've never worked with before. Luckily, it was my first attempt at taking this drug, but I can't imagine being the patient who actually relies on this place to manage the medications they need to function day-to-day. Last but not least, the billing staff. They use a third-party biller, and one that's routinely missed or mis-filed claims to my insurance. Today, I was hit with a $100 bill for a visit to the clinic owner (in May, mind you) that my insurance had no record of. Essentially, they didn't file the claim for that day, so my insurance obviously didn't cover it, so I got the bill. Sending incorrect bills (for sizable amounts) to people who already distrust this office is a surefire way to make sure people never come back. And I cannot WAIT to be done with this place. At the end of the day, if you or your family need medical care, avoid this place. They're disorganized, staff turnover is unreal, and communication between the office and the patient is deeply flawed if not nonexistent. They make it incredibly hard for anyone, especially someone who already needs therapy services, to get anything done (or, God forbid, improve). Go to an office that has their sh*t together, and who doesn't play fast-and-loose with your mental health. read more

If you have the option through health insurance or paying out of pocket pricing when looking for counseling resources in south eastern Michigan - Please stay away from KaraLee and Associates located in Plymouth. Not speaking to the level of care you will receive there, but I had nothing but billing issues that were 100% the fault of the employees at this business. I chose the business because they were covered by our insurance. I gave them the information for our insurance before even looking at possible therapists. They chose the therapist for me, based off of our insurance information. I received my first bill and found out that the therapist that they chose was not actually covered by our insurance. They worked out a deal with me (because she was going through the process of being approved for our insurance) so I could keep seeing her. When I ended my time seeing her (for non-monetary related reasons), I were told that she had just been approved through our insurance and that there would be some prorating and then I would get a final bill. This was in July of last year. I contacted them multiple times since July, and was told the same thing each time - that it hadn't gone through the insurance yet, and I didn't have a final billing amount, so I couldn't pay a final balance since they didn't have one for me yet. I had been consistently making payments to them through my visits, so it's also not like I hadn't paid anything to them. In February or March I contacted them again, stating that I still hadn't received a final bill, and that I wanted to be done with whatever balance that I had there. They resubmitted my information again, and promised me that there would be no surprise collection agencies coming after me, and that I would get a final bill from them soon and that I had nothing to worry about since I had been making payments while going there, and it was an obvious insurance issue. GUESS WHO JUST GOT A COLLECTIONS LETTER IN THE MAIL TODAY? I'm a little pissed if you can't tell. Aside from the fact that I don't have time for this right now, I continually was in contact with them regarding the balance and wanting to pay it off, and this still happens. While I know there's not much I can do about it aside from pay it, if it shows up on my credit report, I'm gonna have some words. And some actions. Long story short, if you can avoid it, don't give your business to KaraLee and Associates in Plymouth. read more

My husband was seen by the therapist Dr Jacob Rosen. He was reffered the psychiatrist for meds for severe depression. After several months he became physcially ill. Started to throw up and lost 35 pounds. My husband had 2 appointments once each week the last 2 weeks we used their services. On the day of the first appt. I called because he was sick with flu like symptoms the day of. I asked them if they prefer him to come in or stay home with his symptoms. I told them we can come because we do not want to be assessed a fee. They said they wanted him to stay home to avoid getting anyone sick. And they would waive the missed appt fee. To call next week when his next appt came. My husband was still very sick. We got the same response. Dont bring him, we will waive the fee. I didnt even bother making a new appointment because I was very concerned with my husbands weight loss. I took him to the hospital instead. Where they said his meds need to be changed and he admitted to the doctors that he felt like the meds were giving him suicidal thoughts and causing him to be physically ill. They admitted my husband for a week. Next thing you know my husband is in collections for the 120 dollars of missed appointment fees. I called to resolve the issue based on the promise they made to waive the fee. They told me No they will not take care of me. And ignored me.so we stopped going there. But now my husband has a bill in collections effecting his credit that should have never been assessed. I cannot believe this place and there lack of professionalism, inability to keep their promises, and the audacity to put their patients in a financial situation that could have been avoided if they wouldnt have made broken promises. My husband was willing to come to the appointments and they asked us to please stay home and not bring the puking their way. If I could give them negetive stars or no stars I would. No compassion. Very unhappy, for over four years I took my Autistic Son there for much needed care. Always paid my co-pay. My co-pay went up and I could not afford the co-pay. My son was in crisis and they informed me there was nothing they could do and immediately stopped services. It was extremely unethical and violated every possible code of conduct standard I can think of. To Stop Services prematurely to a 10 year old boy in crisis. Clearly this agency is money first people second. read more

It's been a while since I went to Karalee & Associates. I feel like I'm still somewhat scarred from the experience. My psychologist was chronically late to every appointment by about ten minutes and then she would end our appointments 5 minutes early. I started to feel gypped very fast. During the sessions she would relentlessly recommend meditation. She would cut me off when I talked and then tell me how I felt about things and make me feel guilty about things I had dealt with. When I went to see a psychiatrist there, I had to reschedule the first appointment because I hadn't been seen after an 1.5 hours after the scheduled time of my appointment. When I arrived for the rescheduled appointment, I was seen 45 minutes after my scheduled appointment, but it would have been longer if the people with an appointment before mine left early because of how long they had been waiting. The psychiatrist simply went down a checklist and then prescribed me some medication. The appointment took an hour and a half because she'd take a ten minute break to stare out the window every few questions. It was very awkard. After this, I stopped going to Karalee & Associates because I was tired of them not valuing my time and not seeming to care about it. Oh and one final thing. They billed the wrong insurance for me for all my visits and I had to spend hours on the phone getting this fixed and it nearly affected my credit. Basically, this place is unprofessional and inconsiderate and they don't seem to care. I thought I'd share my experience so others may avoid wasting their time. read more

the ladies who work at the front desk don't actually work. Every time I go to check in no one is there, because they are out taking a smoke break, which they do every ten minutes. I've tried to call many times to switch therapists and no one picks up the phone. I've emailed them also, said it would take 24-72 hours to reply. it's been a week and no response. read more

Where to start everything I have found with this place is very unprofessional but I guess since it was so easy to get in with them than a real psychologist office makes sense now. Time frame (May-July) The first meeting I had Susan was ok she was 15-20 min late taking me back for my apt and I was her first one of the day. I had called the Dr office and called Susan many times to schedule something finally I texted Susan and she finally responded. When I called the Dr office I asked them to send my paperwork to my primary because I was ready to go somewhere else and then they wanted to charge me for that umm no. I asked to speak to an office manager because that is not how that works when a Dr is needed the info and they on top of the patient is requested it there shouldn't be a charge finally I was to get an apt that I needed. (should have left them then) I then had to make another apt to meet w/the NP she was also about 20 min or so late taking me back she wrote a Rx for meds that put me to sleep so I called to tell them and had to make another apt w/her to fix the meds so she gave me a lower dose that did the same thing. I had another apt w/Susan to see how things were going that meeting went fine. I then had another apt with the NP and the Dr office called me 5 MIN that right 5 MIN before my apt to tell me that they were not able to get hold of her and needed to reschedule my apt. I was very upset by this and I told them as well if you have been trying to call your NP all day and they are not answering then start calling patients so they are not leaving work early or driving out to you for their apt that is being canceled. Had I done that I would be charged a fee and I believe their fee is 75$ and I had to drive back out there again just for her to tell that the other med she wanted try had NOTHING to do with my issue. So I had an apt set w/Susan again I waited 10 min for her to take me back and then had to wait again for her to do something really quick. I explain to her everything that the NP said and wanted to have me try Susan could not figure out why the NP wanted me to try the different meds. especially the last on because it had nothing to do with me. So Susan found my paperwork and I gave her the fax number to send to my primary which she said she would do that day or the next. So as I finish out my apt she was FALLING ASLEEP really really who does that. I was so beside myself I was done w/this place. So 2 days go by I call my primary Dr to see if the paperwork was sent to them and it had not and they had not had any other problems with receiving faxes. I texted Susan and she said she set it and there was no issue but that she would try again and what a surprise it went through and my Dr got what she needed. And I have not been back there since and WILL NEVER EVER go back. And the reason this review is 5 months after the fact is because I just received a bill from them. If I could rate this lower I would I have never seen a so called health care office being run like this out they are still in business is shocking. read more
