My son went to Coventry Children's Center for a year. On July 7, 2015, my son and another toddler…read moreleft the daycare unnoticed. That day, there were 10 children in the toddler room and 2 teachers. The boys escaped during snack time (which is typically around 10:30). The teachers approached the administrator at 10:45 to let her know that one boy was missing (they didn't even realize that my son was missing until they saw him with the police). The administrator thinks the boys were gone for at least 5 minutes before the teachers approached her. Neither the teachers nor the administrator performed a headcount of the children. Rather than calling the police immediately, the administrator spent 10-15 minutes searching the building. She then got into her car to look for the boys herself. It was then that she saw the police that had the boys. The boys were with the police 20 minutes. The school has NO IDEA how long they boys were gone. We think they were gone 30-40 minutes. At first the boys were together but then separated, with one being found in the middle of the intersection of Euclid Heights and Coventry and my son being found on Coventry and Edgehill. As both of these are extremely busy streets, we were very fortunate that neither child was injured. Even set up a 4 hour shadowing day. Less than two weeks prior to our start date we receive an email from the director stating someone quit and they needed to push our start date back by seven weeks. Seven. Weeks. After getting our money back and all of our paperwork the director continually blamed the previous director for the mistake. It doesn't matter whose fault it was. The previous director left MONTHS AGO. Any "errors" should have been fixed long before now. There was a complete oversight by someone that caused a HUGE inconvenience for us and a scramble to find another day care. Our experience with Le Chaperon Rouge was absolutely terrible.

Cleveland Montessori stays true to the Montessori method outlined by Dr. Montessori, and in these turbulent times, especially in the public education and curriculum space, it is comforting to know that my daughter is learning from the time-tested materials. The other thing that is important to me about raising children in our culture is that the school is screen-free. The children have a warm, analog space to love to learn for a lifetime. Lastly, it has to be noted that the school is housed in a century-old building with character, nestled in historic Little Italy blocks away from University Circle, and they walk (in all weather) to a fabulous playground in the neighborhood! All in all, a very, very good choice for building an amazing foundation for life.

CIM has split from CWRU, cancelling this program and they do this 2 weeks before the school year starts. 2 weeks notice for new students who found out their degree program doesn't exist anymore, forcing them to give up one of their passions or find a new school in 2 WEEKS. 2 weeks notice for those already in the program who have one year until graduation. 2 weeks. That's the kind of thing you tell your students at LEAST a year ahead of time so new applicants are aware and don't waste their time applying to a university that will cancel their program with 2 weeks notice. The building is large, containing its own several concert halls. The recital hall was gorgeous and provided lovely acoustics. Samantha, was spectacular. Her talent level simply amazing. We will definitely be back to see more recitals.
