Inexpensive, wonderfully accommodating, family restaurant with an extensive menu for any meal or snack. We were traveling and found it be search engine. They closed at 8 PM we got there as a party of 5 hungry adults at 20 of 8.. Our server "the daughter in law" said "no problem" and allowed us to seat ourselves. Lots of off street parking and a large non- congested, older dining room with some local artist done mural art on the walls. The food servings were plentiful, filling and tasty. Service was prompt and she was very helpful and accommodating. The single negative was that my meal came out not stove hot. But, she corrected it very quickly. Nothing fancy or presumptuous, just down to earth filling, good food, served promptly, at a very reasonable price. Great for travelers passing through or just comfort food. Last nite was a huge disappointment. The service was incredibly slow, they also changed fish dinner. I used to tell anyone talking about wanting fish to go there. I can't anymore it was very disappointing. There was three things there I always ordered and talked about now we are down to one. The mile high was full of fatty meat so that won't be ordered either. Food is horrible now that new ower's changed things. I always got the philly steak sub and fries for many many years. And this new owner tried to tell me, when I said it did not taste the same that it was different meat. He said No it's the same when it clearly was NOT! should'nt lie to your customers. Our sever was amazing but a couple tables down this lady was who was a server was talking with a table for like 10 minutes, it also smells weird. The bathroom are disgusting you have to lift the toilet seats which so many people touch and there was toilet paper on the the food was not bad the salad tasted old through like it had been sitting in a fridge for a week. Burt Brown 23 hrs · I normally wouldn't put something like this publicly but I believe it's another one of those people that have no curticy nor class that open their mouth and they show their stupidity. My wife and I use to patrunize a Restaurant in Ashtabula for 10 to 15 years. We ate there almost everyday and sometimes twice a day. 90% of the people there are absolutely fantastic. A few of the waitresses helped my ill wife Sue when she lost her way to the Restroom and back. A few of them would check on her while in the Restoom and a few that would refuse to. We became really close to most of the employees there as well. But...today it was different which also was both degrading, embarrassing it also made my wife Sue cry. As we were headed to our favorite table, the owner stepped in front of us blocking us from our table. He says to us, " The last time your wife was in here, she made a mess in the Restroom and it wasn't appreciated!" I replied to him, " I'm sorry but my wife has a few problems, unfortunately she has Alzheimer's Disease. He replys back to us " this is a Restaurant, not a Nursing Home! " I looked at my wife Sue that had tears in her eyes, let's go somewhere else. "The Owner replys with a rude tone "Thank You! Coming home is not the same anymore , I've always told my friends about my hometown and how when you went out to eat you could be assured that you were going to get the freshest food ever. Today my heart was broken my sister took me to lunch here and everything from the iced tea being a instant form the the instant mashed potatoes and the boxed macaroni and cheese. I wont be sharing this with my friends in Phoenix, I hate seeing my memories of my small hometown destroyed. read more

The food was great, but I was extremely nervous while eating it since the cleanliness was deplorable, the ceiling was more stained than maintained, and the seating was torn. All I could think about what what the kitchen must look like and if the health department ever inspected. The decor is old, from a time when there must have been only 15 covered bridges in Ashtabula County instead of the current count of 19. Prices are great but they would have to be to even keep customers. I wish I could go back, but there's just no way I could. read more

This has been one of my favorite places to go since I was a kid. Now my kids go there my grandparents eat there religiously. They never disappoint. The chef salad, big frenchy, mile high, and the fried cauliflower are just some of my faves. read more

I ate here about 2-3 years ago. Got pork chops. They were so undercooked. Sent them back. Came back again undercooked (don't know how that happened) then the 3rd time they were so burnt couldn't eat them. Wouldn't take it off even though it was their fault. I never went there again. That restaurant needed to be remodel back in the 80s the owner absolutely puts no money into the restaurant the ceiling tiles are dirty and nasty the walls are disgusting and they have deck spindles holding up their tables in my opinion that place needs to be closed down by the Health Board just the look is disgusting the only thing that they're missing is the old shag carpeting if you own a business and you care about your customers put a little money into it as for the food I have no complaints read more

Not a family friendly restaurant! The fact "Family" is in the name is a joke! They won't accommodate special needs patrons and treat those who have them poorly. They are uneducated about food allergies as well. They do not want to go out of their way to do anything and act like it's a hassle to do their job and serve the public. They are rude, disrespectful and ignorant. It's not just the staff but is the owners as well. They just want your money, they could care less about giving you service to earn it. They do not have clean tables, restrooms or floors. Every time I've ever been in there, my shoes physically stick to the floor like it's covered with pop or gum and it makes a ripping sound when I lift my feet. I recommend you bring something to wipe down your own table with also because you will need to. If you are grossed out with the old food laying under the tables, they might let you clean it up. Don't ask them to though, they get upset. The bathrooms are the worse. Don't go in before you eat, you will lose your appetite. Don't go after or you will lose what you just ate. Just don't go in the bathroom unless it's an emergency and death is not an option. The restaurant refuses to clean the restrooms and get upset when they have to. If you do go, bring tissue from the table (if they give it to you) because the bathroom will likely not have toilet paper. The decor of the facility has not been updated in decades and it smells really stale and musty inside. Depending on the day the food can either be "meh" or "bleh". I would never say anything is "good" there. Sometimes it's ok if you are starving and eat it so fast you can't taste it; other times the dog won't even eat it (seriously, I have brought it home, he won't touch it). I have gotten food poisoning three times in my life and twice was here. It's like playing restaurant roulette. The wait time for the possibility tainted food is ridiculously long even when not busy and the servers pretty much ignore you even when you are the only one in the restaurant. I used to go there as a child many, many years ago with my grandmother and I try to pop in every few years for the memories but it's getting harder and harder to choke down what they call "food" and sit in their ugly, smelly, disgusting restaurant and deal with the people who work there. The prices are low compared to other places but your are getting what you paid for. Banquet tv dinners are better and more affordable. Even if the food was free, you'd be wasting the gas to get there. This is the only place I've ever been to that has burnt the outside of chicken and have it be undercooked on the inside. They will try to argue you to send anything back. As far as recommending a dish, I recommend the chicken tenders or shrimp...from Applebee's. Seriously, don't waste your time or money in this place. There ARE many reasons it's never busy and I think I've listed all above. The restaurant needs new ownership, new staff, better food and a makeover. read more

Yeah, the restaurant is a bit outdated and could probably stand to be a bit cleaner. But the food tastes good, and the portions and prices are very reasonable. Try the prime-rib or New York strip steak dinners - you can't beat the value or the taste for the price. This is a nice, family-style restaurant. read more
