8oz filet that seemed very small
    Amy K.

I had high hopes about this place but I don't think it hit the mark! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was expecting it to be a bit fancier considering the prices on the menu.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I felt that the menu was small and the portions were small. The most disappointing part was that we smelled the wood fire burning outside and saw the huge pizza oven, with a pizza paddle and they don't serve wood fire pizza! That's a HUGE miss for this place. Overall the food was good/average but I am not sure it was worth the money. Also we asked the waitress for a shot and she said they don't serve them despite having a full bar. Very odd.

The food was amazing, service was great, [[HIGHLIGHT]]great view of the water[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Creative menu. Highly recommended

This was not our first time dining at Crosswinds and won't be our last. Having dined here previously (and being generally pleased with the meals), I was a bit surprised by some of the reviews. Tonight my wife and I each ordered a cup of French onion soup - delicious and deep in flavor. Accompanying the mains was the roasted beet salad, a great, light spacer. We then enjoyed the duck - blushing and wonderfully tender - along with the bone-in strip, cooked to a perfect medium rare topped with a generous portion of garlic shrimp. The sides were crispy fries, well seasoned mashed potatoes, and an impressive cauliflower au gratin - rich, creamy, and the cauliflower retaining great texture. While the prices are a step up (once or twice a year kind of meal for us), the quality of ingredients, cooking, and flavor are excellent. Well done to the chefs who served us so well tonight. Crosswinds offers unique dishes, flavors, and a caliber of cooking that will bring us back for more.

Based on reviews and also feedback from someone we met on our wine tour, I had high expectations that this would be a higher end steakhouse which is what I was looking for. The prices match but everything else fell short! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant itself is nothing fancy and fits the town vibes with more of a cottage feel and would be perfect for a diner instead.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The kitchen is open (if you want to call it a kitchen) and it makes sense why they need to keep the menu small because they are probably limited on what they can cook.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There is a big stone oven that we thought may be for pizzas but come to find out, that is where they cook the steak? Whaaaat? That was a first for me. The waitress did not seem to know much about offerings especially when it came to drink options and had to ask someone else (maybe she was new?). We saw the table next to us get served their plates and asked what kind of steak they had and were told it was the filet so we ordered it and it came out half the size so I think she was mistaken. They also had a side salad that looked big but they offered a large salad so we got that to share and it was the same amount of salad just on a plate instead of a bowl! Not really big enough to share and it would've been nice for the waitress to tell us that. I ordered the chicken Alfredo and it was good, a little heavy on the seasonings for me which I think was basil and an odd choice for Alfredo but decent. Not sure it's worth $30 especially since the portion is small. You also had to purchase bread with dipping oil even after paying high prices for the meals .[[HIGHLIGHT]]its a nice location on the water and if you're looking to spend money then try it out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Otherwise there other other places in the area to eat

    Great view from the restaurant!

The service was top notch. My 3 year old asked for something off the menu and the chef was able to accommodate it. He made it special for him and kept waving hello to him from their open concept kitchen. Chef Randy was incredible!

What a neat place! The food was amazing, the service, and getting a reservation. My husband loved that they had mocktails on the menu too. The lemon cake ... fantastic. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only thing that would've made it better, is if we could've sat closer to the water.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Really enjoyed this farm to table restaurant. There is complimentary bread and oil which I did enjoy but I do wish it was a little better quality being a nicer restaurant and not something I could've just bought at a grocery store. I recommend making a reservation, it easy and guarantees a spot since there are minimal fancy dinner options at Geneva. There is valet available too which can be convenient during busy season.

First off, loved our server Hannah! She makes a good vodka gimlet. Window seats with nice view of the lake was added plus . We ordered the walleye special and it was amazing. Flaky and tasty. Less breading would have made it perfect. The fries and coleslaw weren't that good. But the mash potatoes were solid. Ordered Italian lemon cake to finish it off. Went great with the meal. Probably the best option in the area. Recommend making reservations in advance. Both indoor and patio seating available.

We were here for our 10th anniversary dinner! Well actually our friend wanted to arrange the dinner there for us and they were pretty blatant on - 'well we can't guarantee a table with a view nor can we decorate the table per request' although we'd planned more than a couple of weeks in advance. Anyhoo, we booked a table, and we're seated at a corner table - it wasn't too packed for a long weekend! And now coming to the food, the portions are huge so be ready for leftovers! We ordered a bread service (half loaf) along with a caprese salad and french onion soup (to share) for appetizers and for mains we decided to share a mushroom ravioli. The caprese was heaven, the tomato and mozzarella slices were huge as compared to what you'd typically come to expect with a caprese! The french onion soup was passable - the crouton+cheese was good but the soup on its own seemed watered down with not a lot of flavor. We've had better french onion soup (incl Panera). The mushroom ravioli was absolutely smashing especially the caramelized onions and the stir fried green beans were a perfect complement! Overall the views are the only reason to visit crosswinds, food not so much.

Stopped in to the bar for cocktails and ended up staying for dinner. Great bar with some nice cocktails. I had the Cleveland Old Fashioned, made with Cleveland black reserve bourbon and Bissell farms maple sugar, very nice drink. For dinner they were featuring Walleye. Lightly breaded and not greasy it was the perfect dinner for a hot summer night. Thanks Amber, Abby and Randy for the wonderful service. It's nice to see this restaurant back on their feet again.

Great dining experience. Steak comes from a local butcher shop. Exceeded my expectation. Wines are also made here. Thumbs up!

Right then I knew I was either about to have the worst breakfast of my life or one of the best stories. Thankfully, it was the latter. To the TripAdvisor reviewer, I only have one question. Did Gordon Ramsay personally cook breakfast for you every morning growing up? Because those are the only expectations that could possibly explain that review. This place is tiny, but that's exactly what makes it special. I felt like a regular before my coffee even had a chance to cool off. The owner, the servers, and even the folks in the kitchen made us feel like we'd been coming here for years. Sitting right next to our table was a plate of fake roaches and a pile of crooked silverware. Between that and all the hilarious signs and decorations covering the walls, I probably spent as much time looking around and laughing as I did eating. Every wall has something worth reading, and it's all part of the experience. The breakfast was fantastic, but honestly, that's not why I'll remember this place. A place that makes you laughh, treats you like family, and makes you feel like you belong before you've finished your first cup of coffee is much harder to find. Breakfast is simple, atmosphere is hard to achieve in today's society. The place has breakfast but delivers on culture and atmosphere. That's what makes it special. To the owners, thank you for proving that customer service isn't dead. You've created one of the most original restaurants I've ever visited. The food was excellent, but the experience is what I'll remember.

Walls are plastered with funny sayings and the staff adds to the irreverent vibe by yelling out loud "if you're eating, hurry up and if you're done, get the hell out of here" when it's busy and people are waiting for a table. The food is as good as any greasy diner. Basic breakfast is filling and reasonably priced. Plastic silver ware and paper plates make it easy clean up for the staff. Just be sure you check your coffee cup for chips. I don't like drinking from a chipped cup or glass and it may actually be illegal to serve beverages in those. The waitress was nice and took mine back and brought me one without chips. Although I don't think the management cares to replace them. Coffee is serve yourself from a carafe on the table as is the water from a pitcher.

People already eating and drinking. Deceivingly large. Walk in and bar is to your right. To the left are tables and such. We went to the bar. The bar had a good amount of people. We ended up close to the windows on the other side. It was fine. Bartender came right over. They have a good selection of alcohol. Flavored vodka's. I got salted Carmel with coke. Delish! Kathy got cucumber vodka and sprite. Very refreshing. We got menus and asked bartender to recommend some items. He said wings good, burgers good, chicken and waffles and Mac and cheese. Funny we didn't get any of those. Kathy got the brisket dinner. I got the rueben with a salad. Both good. And prices were good too. They came out in about 10 mins. Salad was good. The Rueben was hot . I ate half. Good amount of corned beef not too skimpy. Kathy's. Brisket looked amazing. And it was good. Brisket tender with side of baked potato and broccoli. BBQ sauce on the side. And a loaf of bread. All for $12.99. She ate half and took home too. It was good and filling. Bartender was nice and informative. Place had a good mix of people. Looks like a nice hang out. Prices were good. Drinks good. Can't complain. I'd definitely go back and try something else.
