And the local wine Recommeneded by our server after we told her what kind of wine my husband usually likes, franc? , was so good. The servers were very kind and efficient even during busy dinner time. We enjoyed this spacing and clean dining room. Thank you for the great experience. I booked reservations for my husband's birthday last night. The whole experience was awful. We waited almost 1 hr for our dinner. Somehow our food ticket was never put in. We finally got our food and my husband's steak was burnt. They apologized but did not take anything off our bill. Unacceptable for fine dining! A complete waste of 134 bucks!! read more

A lovely location and restaurant. Our server Alisha was very nice and vary accommodating. The food was good but for the price, we were expecting a more tender cut of beef. I love the fact that they source their beef locally. My sister and I chose the 6 ounce sirloin filet with three shrimp. The flavor was excellent but the steak was a bit chewy. My daughter had the duck and loved it. We were there in September and they still were using valet parking only. I thought it odd since there were plenty of spaces available, but I can understand the need for it during the season. I had high hopes about this place but I don't think it hit the mark! I was expecting it to be a bit fancier considering the prices on the menu. I felt that the menu was small and the portions were small. The most disappointing part was that we smelled the wood fire burning outside and saw the huge pizza oven, with a pizza paddle and they don't serve wood fire pizza! That's a HUGE miss for this place. Overall the food was good/average but I am not sure it was worth the money. Also we asked the waitress for a shot and she said they don't serve them despite having a full bar. Very odd. read more

This was not our first time dining at Crosswinds and won't be our last. Having dined here previously (and being generally pleased with the meals), I was a bit surprised by some of the reviews. Tonight my wife and I each ordered a cup of French onion soup - delicious and deep in flavor. Accompanying the mains was the roasted beet salad, a great, light spacer. We then enjoyed the duck - blushing and wonderfully tender - along with the bone-in strip, cooked to a perfect medium rare topped with a generous portion of garlic shrimp. The sides were crispy fries, well seasoned mashed potatoes, and an impressive cauliflower au gratin - rich, creamy, and the cauliflower retaining great texture. While the prices are a step up (once or twice a year kind of meal for us), the quality of ingredients, cooking, and flavor are excellent. Well done to the chefs who served us so well tonight. Based on reviews and also feedback from someone we met on our wine tour, I had high expectations that this would be a higher end steakhouse which is what I was looking for. The prices match but everything else fell short! The restaurant itself is nothing fancy and fits the town vibes with more of a cottage feel and would be perfect for a diner instead. The kitchen is open (if you want to call it a kitchen) and it makes sense why they need to keep the menu small because they are probably limited on what they can cook. There is a big stone oven that we thought may be for pizzas but come to find out, that is where they cook the steak? Whaaaat? That was a first for me. The waitress did not seem to know much about offerings especially when it came to drink options and had to ask someone else (maybe she was new?). We saw the table next to us get served their plates and asked what kind of steak they had and were told it was the filet so we ordered it and it came out half the size so I think she was mistaken. They also had a side salad that looked big but they offered a large salad so we got that to share and it was the same amount of salad just on a plate instead of a bowl! Not really big enough to share and it would've been nice for the waitress to tell us that. I ordered the chicken Alfredo and it was good, a little heavy on the seasonings for me which I think was basil and an odd choice for Alfredo but decent. Not sure it's worth $30 especially since the portion is small. You also had to purchase bread with dipping oil even after paying high prices for the meals .its a nice location on the water and if you're looking to spend money then try it out. The wine here is the best we've ever had. Locally grown with organic practices, tastes so smooth and flavorful. We tried the Flight of 5 white wines - absolutely amazing. Got a bottle of the Riesling - my absolute fav. The local cheese board was super tasty, and they provided gluten free crackers for us! There is complimentary bread and oil which I did enjoy but I do wish it was a little better quality being a nicer restaurant and not something I could've just bought at a grocery store. We were here for our 10th anniversary dinner! Well actually our friend wanted to arrange the dinner there for us and they were pretty blatant on - 'well we can't guarantee a table with a view nor can we decorate the table per request' although we'd planned more than a couple of weeks in advance. Anyhoo, we booked a table, and we're seated at a corner table - it wasn't too packed for a long weekend! And now coming to the food, the portions are huge so be ready for leftovers! We ordered a bread service (half loaf) along with a caprese salad and french onion soup (to share) for appetizers and for mains we decided to share a mushroom ravioli. The caprese was heaven, the tomato and mozzarella slices were huge as compared to what you'd typically come to expect with a caprese! The french onion soup was passable - the crouton+cheese was good but the soup on its own seemed watered down with not a lot of flavor. We've had better french onion soup (incl Panera). The mushroom ravioli was absolutely smashing especially the caramelized onions and the stir fried green beans were a perfect complement! Stopped in to the bar for cocktails and ended up staying for dinner. Great bar with some nice cocktails. I had the Cleveland Old Fashioned, made with Cleveland black reserve bourbon and Bissell farms maple sugar, very nice drink. For dinner they were featuring Walleye. I would love to give this place a good review. It's on the lake and easy to access. However there were just too many issues in the way to recommend it. We had my 60th birthday party here this week. There were 7 of us in the party. We had to come at 5 pm because it was too booked to come later which is fine. When we arrived the restaurant was empty and they sat us looking out into the Beach House ( no lake view). Also the waitress spilled my water putting down my menu. I used my napkin to clean it up. She never said thank you or even offered me another napkin in its place. We ordered drinks and our food. The drinks came out sporadically and one never even showed up. She also severed asked if we wanted a refill. The bread service was good for $18. Mostly that should be free. My filet was to be medium but came out well done. By the end, I just wanted out of there. Not even a Happy. Birthday greeting. I think they maybe down servers as there did not seem enough. But I cannot recommend this establishment especially based on the prices of their dishes. read more

My wife and I went to crosswinds grill for dinner on our anniversary weekend trip. The staff were very friendly and attentive. They told us they are farm to table, witch is very cool. We got the fresh bread and oil for an appetizer and it was so good, you could tell it was fresh made bread. I got the bone in rib-eye and it was excellent. My wife got chicken and Alfredo noodles and she liked that the sauce wasn't to heavy. All and all it was a great experience, there was also a very nice view of the lake from our table. read more

Don't bother. We used to love to come here and stay at the inn, eat on the lake at the little wine bar they had going there. It's gone or paused or something. Hard to tell what's going on given that the hostess or someone acting as one assured us that it's been closed... For 5 years at least. Odd, I have so many pictures of the experience from 2020 in my Google photos... Then there was the multiple inquiries about our reservations, to sit on the patio, where they don't take reservations for, but the patio turned out to be closed etc. Despite politely asking questions, we were treated fairly rudely and I'm a pretty good judge of this kind of character. Something is wrong. They don't deserve my business is what I'm trying to say. You might want to think about them not deserving yours. My advice: call a business that is honest , polite and well run nearby if you want to eat somewhere at Geneva on the lake. Sadly, this one appears to have jumped the shark. read more

Great smaller restaurant with pleasant surroundings--on the Lakehouse Inn property. They offer a small menu, and all entrees and starters are excellent. Very friendly, knowledgeable staff are able to make customized recommendations. This was our second visit. Food both times was outstanding. This visit happened to be on Mother's Day, 2022. I had a glass of the barrel aged Chardonnay (unbelievably wonderful), from the Lakehouse Inn winery. It is not on the menu, but our server, Caden, offered it as an option. I had a small taste of their regular Chardonnay, their Pinot Grigio, and Riesling, in addition to this barrel aged Chardonnay. The Riesling, while very good, was a little sweet for a dinner wine, imho. The other 2 tastings were ok, but nothing much more than average to my taste. Now, the barrel aged Chardonnay was absolutely outstanding. So that's what I went with. I had a Caesar salad to start and shrimp with grits for my entree. The salad had plenty of Parmesan cheese and their freshly ground pepper is not to be missed! Caesar dressing had more vinegar/lemon than I prefer. Glad I got the dressing on the side. Then I had their shrimp & grits--the best Shrimp & Grits next to those I've had in S. Carolina. My husband started with a blue martini (martini made with blue cheese olives, olive juice, and tobasco sauce!). It was very nice. For food, he had the Waldorf salad (perfectly made with a light mayo based dressing) and a shrimp linguine. I highly recommend this restaurant. Be sure to make reservations. read more

This place is nice with an even nicer view. Service was good, atmosphere is up scale. My fiance had the delmonico with mashed potatos. I had the mushroom raviolis with asparagus. The steak was good. The raviolis also good. You only get 5 raviolis so if you like to eat/are hungry you may want to get something else. Expect to spend a little more for the type of restaurant it is and really the prices were not bad just wish the portions were a little bigger for the price you are paying. When asked about cuts of meat, the server just pointed to the chart on the wall. She wasn't knowledgeable at all. My food was very oily. I got the butternut squash ravioli, and I had to let the oil drip off before I could eat it. My friends salmon tasted fishy. I booked a reservation for my and my wife's 38th anniversary at this restaurant. My wife ordered the walleye and I ordered a 7 ounce filet (medium). We also ordered a butternut squash feta salad and a winter spinach salad. It took 10 minutes for our server to stop by and we weren't asked if we wanted water. The hostess seemed to pick and choose who gets water. We placed our order and the appetizers came out fairly quickly. Unfortunately our salads came when we were only a 1/3 done with our appetizers. Packed up our appetizers to go. We just started eating our salads and our entrees came out. We asked the server why the entrees and salads came out too early, she just apologized and offered to put our entrees under heat lamps. We decided to accept the entrees since the were fresh. I had to pick up all the dirty plates so that she could set the entrees on our table (no space on table) because they did not do a very good job of cleaning off the table as the meal went on. My filet was undercooked and my wife's fish was full of bones. Called the waitress over and sent the fish back, my wife ordered what I ordered (7 ounce filet medium rare). The remake came out really quickly but was overcooked ! She decided to eat the steak because she was hungry. The sugar snap peas were over cooked, mushy and bland. The smashed potatoes were un-seasoned and bland as well. I had to ask for a refill on my coke after 3 times to our table without her noticing. The waitress asked if we would like desert and we said no thank you and asked for the check. I had to apologize to my wife for such a poor dining experience on our Anniversary. I stayed next door for a couple nights for a friend trip. We stopped in to this restaurant to get some cocktails at the bar. We sat and waited.... Waited... finally someone comes up to us (not a bartender) and asks if we had a dinner reservation? We said no and that we were going to have some drinks and then a appetizer at the bar as we were guests next door. We were then asked by this rude woman to move bar seats??? There were two empty seats next to us with napkins in front and She asked us to scoot over so there would be 3 empty seats. I was told the previous night that you COULD NOT reserve bar seats. Apparently that is just for "certain" people. My friend and I felt this woman was very confrontational. No smile, no I'm Sorry, just can you move and do you have a reservation and what is your name... was she checking to make sure we were staying next door? We scooted over but felt like they did not want us here. We then waited... no bartender, no one asked us what we wanted to drink, we felt like they did not want us there. They talked to people sitting around us but ignored my friend and I. We felt awkward there bc of the rude woman... so we just left. As we left to walk next door to our room the rude woman runs outside and says that we could stay. No thanks lady, you made us already feel unwelcome. read more

We went for lunch, the menu was a little bit of a disappointment, since it was VERY limited options, the food itself was decent, but the pizza for instance was given to you in a delivery box, the was no service, so you basically had to take care of yourself, the worst part, was the attention to detail, in Covid times there was no cleaning nor disinfectant on tables or chairs after each patron, that alone is a motive to not come back. Our family of three dined for an early dinner the Sunday before Memorial Day and had a lovely visit. GOTL is a tourist destination and it was a tourist weekend and we had nothing like the touristy-experience I've come to expect from similar high-end places at other tourist areas like Ocean Beach, MD. My wife hates to valet, but it was complimentary and super convenient given the availability of parking elsewhere on the GOTL strip. Our car was parked in the nice sized lot attached to the restaurant it was easy for my wife to step back out and grab her shawl while we waited for our meal. We were seated promptly, a few minutes ahead of our reservation, at a nice table overlooking the lake. The view from the patio is much better, but it was still a lovely place to site and watch the sunset. We ordered the rillette appetizer and caprese salad. We were skeptical of the tomato quality given how early it is in the season, but our waitress assured us the chef only used high quality ingredients and she was right. I've had better tomatoes, but what we got were very satisfactory. The rillete was the real star though. It is served in parts on a cheeseboard with kraut, pickled peppers, house-ground mustard, and lemon aioli alongside the beef rillete, crostini, and some crackers. Aside from the heavy vinegar on the peppers, all the flavors were delicious and it was a lot of fun combining the ingredients into different bites. For our entrees we passed on the intriguing steak options and opted instead for rib ragu with fresh pasta and shepard's pie (one of my personal favorite comfort foods). Both dishes were delicious. Shepard's pie can be bland if not done well and that certainly wasn't the case at Crosswind's. My wife thought it was a touch on the salty side and I can see her point, but it was perfectly fine for me. I loved the strong, earthy flavor. The mashed purple potatoes (which they also serve with their steaks) are not the most appealing color to look at, so I take a bit off for presentation. We ordered a single glass of wine after our waitress Erica (maybe?) allowed my wife to sample another she was interested in. The wine was good, but not outstanding. We did end up buying a bottle of the wine we sampled (Red Sky) to take home and try with a different meal. We were full up, so didn't have a chance to sample the deserts. We would definitely plan on that next time, though, as the desert menu sounded delicious. They had several options with house-made maple sugar ice cream that we would have tried with enough appetite. With our bill, they provided some Dark Chocolate Mint Bark from Marianne's Chocolate shop in Ashtabula which was a lovely end to the meal. read more
