BLOOD DRIVE REVIEW. I dont watch the news bc I'm not old. I'm so young and hip and I barely own a tv. It's possible I was once interviewed by KARE 11 while visiting a zoo and they asked me some really leading questions. (It's also possible that was a different channel) Anyway, I have heard from several good friends that the Red Cross does a nice job at blood drives here and the Golden Valley campus is close to me. I signed up for a 5:45 time slot. I was running early and they advertise walk ins welcome and so I showed up at 5 with a book and was told there would be a 30-45 minute wait. So I'd have to wait for my actual appointment time? Ok. I collected a few coupons and a cookie and sat down with my book and was distracted by the televisions...showing Kare 11 news of course. Huh. It was decent. Not so much that I didnt read my book, but I feel like I learned a few things about both local and national news. So that's nice. BUT. And oh dear. I waited 75 freaking minutes before I had to bail to pick up one of my kiddos. I went up to tel them I was leaving and there were still 5 people in front of me! Bummer. read more

For all of the good KARE 11 has brought to viewers, it's such a shame that key director and anchor jobs are filled by new-to-the-area folks with no clue or expertise in Minnesota. The new sports director... "Reggie"... a jokester whose parents clearly told him he was so cute and funny! Couple nights ago he cracks about early season Wild hockey team giving up "what, like 76 goals a game..."! This guy is a joker who should be on-stage dealing with hecklers, NOT forced into our living rooms as a self-anointed oracle for topics in which he is clearly overmatched. Ask Randy Shaver what he thinks... Take a job in Duluth or Fargo first Reggie, if that goes well, come on back to MSP. On the 6:00 news, 4/8/2023, the lead story was about the upcoming river flooding. Footage was shown of the Highway 41 bridge in Chaska, and the boat landing/park area adjacent to it. It was somewhat alarming, as it showed the areas I was walking in just yesterday to be quite a bit underwater, which would indicate a major rise in the river level in 24 hours. As someone who lives only a few blocks from the river, I was quite stunned to see this. Upon going down to look at it, I was surprised to see the level had come up a foot at most (and I have pictures of yesterday and today for comparison). I then realized they had shown old file footage. I found this to be very misleading and showed a poor lack of judgement, as I'm likely not the only person who was startled to see it. This is not the level of accuracy I would expect, especially considering the severity of the flooding situation we're all expecting read more

KARE 11 is, in my opinion, the only local channel worth watching. There's a special program for pretty much everyone: the Extra, Minnesota Bound, KARE on Location, Perk at Play (what a lovable goon), and not to mention the awesome Grow with KARE. Variety aside, I love their personalities. I grew up with Paul Magers and miss him greatly, but Mike, Julie, Belinda, and Randy Shaver all feel like members of my family; when I'm at my mum's house having dinner, they are always on for the 6 o'clock news. (I can't forget Allen Costantini, who is sort of an odd crush of mine...) I like that they keep a nice balance of local, national, and world news. The weather is alway top notch (Sven Sundgaard, you're my favorite weatherman...) and while I'm not a sports person per se, I still think they keep it to the point and relevant. They also have one of the best booths at the State Fair and always have cool stuff/fun programming. Very glad KARE 11 is around for us Minnesotans. read more

While previously I felt that this news broadcasts on this station has been almost unwatchable for the last 20 years... Sven has made sure that KARE 11 news won't make another appearance on my television. The days of Paul and Dianna are history and the station has hitched their wagon to social wokeness. read more

I watch Kare11 news more than I watch any other Minneapolis Newscast ever! I must say, I find this station to be the best. I cannot stand the people on Fox 9 news.. Robin Robinson? Really? and Jeff Passolt? Jeez. They really annoy me.. like really badly! So to prevent a headache, and having my day ruined by idiots, I turn to Kare11. For being a news station, they aren't too bad. I mean, they read the news, get to the facts, then leave you alone! However, their commercials, with them dancing around like morons on TV... yeah, those could be done away with by now! Sven Sungaard is probably my favorite weather guy in the State of Minnesota! I've been watching him do his thing for some time now. He came from Duluth.. at least that is where he worked before here. I remember when he was just a young buck, getting started, and now look at him.. he has blossomed into a beautiful young, gay, thriving gentleman who reads the weather! How amazing is that? Oh Sven, you intrigue me.. for some reason. I have yet to figure out why. But, I do remember about two years ago, we were having a HUGE thunderstorm, and the 494 was flooding, and it was just pouring! Well, anyways, Sven's dad called in! His dad! How gangster is that? He lives west of the cities, and was talking about their weather! He had a great voice, I can see where Sven gets it from. Other than Sven, Belinda Jensen, and Mike Pomeranz are probably the most annoying people on the show! Belinda... eh.. Not much to say about her, there really is no WOW factor, and as for Mikey boy...NO! I just don't like him at all! Julie Nelson seems like a nice lady.. she can really read! And Diana Pierce seems like someone I would never want to meet. Really Sven does it for me and this station! If they didn't have him, I'm not sure if I would be as big of a fan! As for the news they talk about.. Sometimes they are a bit behind, and sometimes they cover ridiculous story.. like a story about a dog walking down the highway! I have never written a review before but I can't stand watching the morning news any more. When growing up this was the news station that was always watched but in the last few years I have seen a change for the worst. When I watch the news I want the straight facts and not their biased opinion on it. When you are reporting on the President (who ever it is) show respect and don't put your personal thoughts in the story. Let the people decide how they want to interpret the facts. You fired Sven due to violating KARE 11 ethic policies, but what you are doing is violating the ethics of journalism. I think your anchors should learn how to report the news with just the facts and not add their input. read more

I am very disappointed in the turn the morning program has taken the new staff constantly talking over each other and nothing of substance seems to be important to them. With the way they dumped Kim Ensley they should be ashamed. I frequently change channels just to get away from the fluff. I prefer to get the day started knowing what is going on in the area as often miss the evening news. read more
