Wow! What an amazing time my family and I had at Karen Lee's Cooking Class. After spending 5 seconds with her it is obvious that she is a master at her craft. What is amazing about her is that she makes you feel like a couple of old friends are hanging out and preparing a gourmet meal. I learned a ton about cooking and ingredients and had a great time! HIDDEN GEM IN NYC! My girlfriend and I took a class a few weeks ago and absolutely fell in love with Karen! Everything about the class was absolutely perfect! A few days before class my girlfriend called to ask if any consideration could be made as she's a vegetarian and many of the options seemed to be things she'd pass on. I really enjoyed my cooking class with Karen Lee. Her classes focus on organic, healthy foods but not in a crazy at-the-cost-of-tasting-good way, but rather yummy simple food that happens to be delicious. I really liked it. We made: --a white bean and chickpea dip (sort of like a take on hummus) --roasted brussel sprouts --roasted butternut squash with fresh rosemary --arugula and beet salad --cilantro rice (which blended two different grains of brown rice) --poached red snapper with tomato, onion, jalapeno --carrot cake with cream cheese icing The classes have about 10 people in them and she opens a few bottles of wine as you eat the final product. All of it was simple enough that you'd feel capable of doing it on a random night after work, but all of it was very tasty. I'd recommend. Karen is a true delight. Probably worth the money to come and just hang out with her for a night because she is very cool. Took a private class for my friend's 30th birthday. Her husband took the lead on creating a menu that would work well for our group, taking into account both things that would be good to learn and foods his wife liked to eat. Since Karen conducts the classes in her home, it was cozy and comfortable. We created each dish and then ate as we went along which meant we didn't have to wait too long to eat - however, we were eating our steak and potatoes at close to 10pm by the time we were done. We were a group of 10 and since the kitchen is pretty small, we couldn't all help with everything. While this decreased our learning, it increased our ability to chat and drink wine with friends, which is always a delight. Once we were eating our final course - pie that we had brought, completed by chantilly cream made by Karen, we were able to chat with her a bit more. She is so knowledgeable and has had an amazing life journey she was more than willing to share with us. Overall a fantastic night! read more

I've taken three classes from Karen and she is absolutely fantastic! The class is packed with hands-on cooking and Karen is fantastic about ensuring everyone feels included and learns from the class. I discovered Karen Lee's Cooking Classes a few years ago when looking for a present for my mother. My mom loves to cook, but also enjoys learning new techniques and recipes, plus it's would be an excellent Mother-Daughter activity. We had such a good time at that class and my mother has been talking about it ever since, that I decided to buy us another class for this Christmas. The intimate class sizes (our class had 9 people) means lots of hands on time in the actual meal preparation. The recipes are delicious and versatile and Karen is really good about taking dietary restrictions/preferences into account when creating the menu. She spends a lot of time explaining not only the techniques involved in creating the meal, but also the ingredients, including where to get them.
