My friends and I came to do a beginner pottery class last month, and our instructor Star was so sweet and guided us so well throughout the class. We originally opted for the basic pottery option but decided to upgrade after they explained we could paint the ceramics and have them food safe. It was just us 3 in the class, so it was small and Star was able to help each of us as we fumbled our way through. The end results are nice, I just wished that the glaze didn't crack, but it is still safe to use. read more

Booked this pottery studio for my birthday party, with friends traveling in from Connecticut and New Jersey by train to celebrate. We arrived on time--only to find out we were double-booked. The instructors on-site--Kaitlyn, Clara, and Heaven--were amazing and truly did their best to manage the chaos. They spent over 30 minutes trying to reach someone from the management company but no answer, no plan, no support. During that time, both parties stood around confused and increasingly frustrated, and result in few tension moments when we hear nothing for half a hour. We were basically left to resolve the situation ourselves, without a word from the people actually responsible for the mess. Even worse, we never heard from management--not then, not after. No apology. No explanation. No solution. After 40 minutes waiting for no result, we were the ones who proposed the solution. We stepped back and let the kids' party go first, and asked the instructor to reach out see if we can take a later slot on same day. This meant we had to reschedule dinner, and several of my friends--who took the train in from out of state--had to leave early and missed it. They went home to CT and Jersey frustrated, exhausted, and hungry. The only reason we were able to make anything of the day was thanks to Kaitlyn, Clara, and Heaven, who stayed calm and kind throughout. Despite all the craziness, we tipped them 20%, because they are amazing. But if you're thinking about booking a private event with Pottery Studio 1, think again. A day that was meant to be fun and memorable turned into a logistical nightmare. I gave the company over 24 hours to contact me and I have received nothing. The only communication I had with them is few unapologetic and arrogant text messages. (image attached. We're supposed to pick up our finished pieces in a couple of weeks--really hoping they don't screw that up too. :) read more

Session went fine and girl did a good job of spending time with us to explain what to do. Though there was times where I felt like she would explain it and then just do it herself instead of letting us do it. After spending a lot of time designing and then painting my bowl was disappointed when I picked up because they did a sloppy job in glazing it. It was obvious that someone with clay on their hands touched it and then put it into the kiln. So while when I left it it was uniformly painted but there was a big blob of clay in the center that got glazed over in the middle. read more

Came here for date night as a surprise and had the best time. Our instructors were Abby and Otto and both did a wonderful job. It was intimate only 4 total people. Otto did a wonderful job helping us make our pieces and teaching us on the wheel. Abby helped us with hand building. We plan to be back to glaze our pieces. read more

Took the pro pottery course (8 lessons) that was extremely fun and rewarding! Loved that the class only had a few students so our instructor was always attentive and helpful. Our instructor (Alexandra) is extremely talented at what she does and always provides us with constructive feedback. It was highly enjoyable having her as my instructor and being able to learn wheel-throwing and hand building techniques from her. This location is so convenient to get to - located right by Bryant Park and is both spacious and clean. I'd definitely recommend taking a course here - they offer one-time courses as well as long term classes. I will definitely consider coming back for a birthday party with friends. read more

Management is non-existent to rectify any and all inconveniences caused by the unprofessionalism and uncourteous online staff. If you'd like a better experience I would strongly suggest to find another company with competent staff to handle the inconvenience they will eventually cause their customers.
