Karen was fantastic. She was accommodating to our schedule and very friendly. We felt very comfortable with her. She had a nice selection of hand sewn and machine wigs to choose from. She encouraged to try on different ones but suggested 1 or 2 that we ended up choosing. She's very good and clearly been doing it for a long time. We were able to have a wig adjusted smaller and trimmed to match the face within the same day. I would definitely recommend Karen's to anyone in need of a wig. read more

I had a wonderful experience at Karen's Wigs. The stylist was very patient and accommodating while I looked for the best wig that suited me. The wig I chose was sized for my head and cut to be exactly how my old hair looked. This is something you can't get when buying wigs online! The storemight seem small with only 50 wigs on display but all wigs come in all shades and can be cut and styled to your liking. read more

I was tired of buying synthetic wigs, so decided to invest in a human hair one. Thank goodness I found Karen's wigs! As soon as I walked through the door I felt very comfortable. Totally disappointed. Wig doesn't fit, out of style,was cut too short, Karen did not listen to what I asked for. Wig was over priced and have not worn since November,bought in September. Have been wearing wigs for over 40 years and this is the worse ever. Would not recommend to anyone. read more

We bought a wig for my mother in-law at Karen's Wigs in early August. Karen was very helpful in recommending a few wigs that were suitable for her. She is going through chemotherapy and has been wearing the wig every day since she lost her hair. She receives numerous compliments, even people asking her where she got her haircut thinking it's her own hair! She has been very happy with how it looks and how it feels. Karen also advised us of potential reimbursement from the insurance company if we file a claim. We received a letter from the insurance company requesting for further information for the claim. When we called Karen's Wigs today, I spoke to Peter, the manager. He was willing to join on a 3-way call with me and the insurance company. With his help, we were able to resolve the issue regarding the claim over the phone and now it's getting processed. It's amazing that he went out of his way to help, especially almost 3 months later. read more

Karen is a big liar and a cheat. I was shown a lovely wig, which I ordered. What I got was a wig that looked a little bit similar but was not the same as the one I had ordered. Once she had my money she promised to get me the one I wanted. It is now almost a year later and I still haven't got it. It looks like I'm stuck with the wig that she pawned off on me. read more

Karen is truly a "Wig Genius" ! Karen's Wigs is an office suite in a manhattan building. She was very professional and courteous in greeting (went with my mom and sister). I explained what I was looking for and right away she went and got a wig and putted on me. It was a beautiful human hair, the right color, soft lace front, and monofilament top. She was patient and listened to what I want and let me try other pieces: straight hair, synthetic, etc.and in the end it was the first wig she chose for me that I ended up getting. Through it all she was patient and understanding, very professional and not pushy. Giving me time and space to consult my mom and sister. They both agreed the first she chose was the perfect style and color for me. Karen is really a genius, it really shows she has many years of experience. Just by looking at me she knew what suited me. She sized the wig to be a custom fit and washed, cut and styled it for me on a different day; and added comb clips for me so I can feel secure. She showed me how to put it on with a cap underneath and without; how to wear it with the hair down, with it up, braided, etc. She really took the time and was very patient in answering all my questions and concerns about how to care for it. I also bought the canvas block and clamp and she told me how to wash the wig and care for it. I wore it out for two days now, once up and once with the hair down and added some hair jewelry clips to it. No one knew it was a wig. It looks very natural, and very comfortable and light. I have been researching wigs to plan for a chemo related hair loss in April. It's been a difficult process emotionally but also because the price range for wigs runs from $50 to over $4000 depending on type of hair (synthetic vs., human), how the wig is made (handmade vs. machine made) and other factors. After a consult with another wig maker who quoted me $4200 for a human hair wig, which I could not afford, I felt overwhelmed. I read some Yelp reviews and made an appt at Karen's. Her salon, conveniently located near Columbus Circle in an office suite, was calm and welcoming. Peter, the manager, spoke with me while we waited for Karen and provided an overview of choices. When Karen arrived she put me in the salon chair and offered several choices of handmade beautiful synthetic wigs. She was very helpful.We picked one together and I was done in less than 15 minutes. At $1000, which includes a pre-styling and additional consultation and final styling, it's a great deal. I will update this review when the wig is finished. read more
