Karin is an excellent trainer. I contacted her for help with our nine-month-old puppy after doing a great deal of research on local trainers. Her reviews were all positive and consistent in their comments, and her rates were listed and extremely reasonable. Karin responded to my inquiry within an hour and we had a scheduled phone call that same evening. She came to our home the next night. When she arrived, she quietly observed our new puppy and our nine-year-old dog, and then gave us detailed instructions on what she wanted us to do. She also had us try some of those instructions while she was still there to guide us. At the end of the visit, we scheduled another session for two weeks from that date. Things are already so much better in our home. Karin got right to the root of our puppy's issues and quickly came up with a plan for us to execute. She is a great communicator and just made everything seem doable. Most importantly, our dogs responded to her immediately. She clearly understands dogs and likes them. It was easy to see that, for her, it was about them as individuals, and not about a set method that she adheres to. From our first conversation, I could see that Karin loves what she does. She is curious, observant, and determined to find a way to help her clients and their dogs to understand each other better and to build relationships based on trust and consistency. We hired Karin to train our loose cannon of a puppy to walk down the aisle with us for our wedding. In about 2 months time- Karin helped us focus on the foundation skills using positive reinforcement and corrective feedback to teach our dog to not only be an angel at our wedding but to walk with us during our regular walks. This really helped us build a better relationship with our puppy. Karin joined us for our rehearsal and did more than we can ask. Karin is a spectacular trainer and incredibly talented. We adopted a mutt who we quickly discovered was part terrier...a bit more than we were ready for as new dog owners. Besomomma to the rescue!!! The first session was almost 3 hours and we were taught the "why" behind training, how dogs value play, attention and food, and essentially how we would turn our little rascal into a refined lady and properly behaved dog. Karin is always available and is incredibly calming. That was necessary as there were several times I called her hysterically crying. A new dog is like a baby and you don't get a lot of sleep! After 6 sessions our dog can sit, go down, "leave it" (most of the time), come, come when there is an emergency (an important distinction!), roll over, and "play dead". Four months ago my roommate and I adopted two Toy Australian shepherd puppies (litter mates). Australian shepherds are an intelligent breed and are amazing dogs...if trained properly. We are so happy we found Karin, she is very knowledgeable, experienced, and passionate about what she does. Having litter mates can be difficult and I don't think we truly understood what we were in for! Since our sessions with Karin, we have been doing great with potty training, establishing ourselves as the 'leader', recall (which we have learned is so important), sit, down, stay...and so on. She is extremely patient and is available literally 24/7 to answer questions. After finishing our sessions, Karin still makes herself available to answer questions and give advice. My wife and I have just welcomed a very energetic but somewhat disobedient German Shepard puppy to our home. We just finished our basic training sessions with Karin and we are absolutely thrilled. We adopted a 10 week old Australian Shepard, Koda, in December . Koda came into our home as a ball of energy and sadly, a lot of anxiety. I knew that even though Koda isn't our first dog, that he required extra support, and so did we. I contacted Karin and she talked to me for about an hour and a half, even before I decided to hire her. She was so concerned with getting Koda on the right track that she gave us very useful strategies to start implementing to help him. We scheduled 5 sessions with her and from the time she walked into our home, she made a difference. She immediately brought calm to Koda and to us and we learned so many things that were effective, right away. When things did not always go as we planned, Karin was easy to reach and always available and willing to help. She even checked in, between our sessions to see how it was going. Our experience with Karin has been FANTASTIC - she is a highly professional, knowledgable, and empathetic trainer! We started with Potty Training 101 under Karin's guidance a few weeks ago, which was a video call - truly informative for me as a first-time dog owner, breaking everything down and giving me a much-needed framework not only to blindly follow but to actually understand and implement consciously. As a teacher, Karin has an engaging personality and I've found that there was not a dull moment during the video workshop; she is very thorough and super dedicated to her craft. I should say that I found Karin when feeling overwhelmed and out of control as a new puppy owner after one week of chaos and frustration, but with her direction, within days I felt back in control, equipped with the knowledge and tangible tools I needed and, most importantly, seeing the results within days of consistent application. It really works, and I now trust Karin's expertise even more. We've continued with in-home training as well and I've found Karin's methods highly effective - it totally shifted the interactions I have with my dog; we're communicating better and there is a lot less frustration on my part. Her understanding of dog behavior is sharp - all of her suggestions have worked so far, resolving issues I didn't know how to handle. We had never been dog-parents before and brought home our first dog 3 years ago. He was a baby Toy Poodle and neither he nor the two of us knew quite what to do with basic dog etiquette, house training, learning cool new tricks or simply obeying important commands. Over the summer, Luca Brasi, then a six-month old Aussie puppy from California, joined our pack. Luca is a sweet, energetic and incredibly playful puppy whose energy level skyrocketed when he saw other dogs. I began to dread the frequent walks throughout the day and was afraid I would exacerbate my rotator cuff tear from all the leash control I'd have to exert. Karin saved my life and sanity. Luca took to her immediately. She spent a long time with us for the initial session to observe and assess Luca's training needs and went into great detail about her dog training philosophy and methodology and demonstrated a few things. After just one session, walking became such a joy and Luca has since expanded her repertoire. More than anything, she has taught me how to be an even better dog momma.
