If you have a pup that doesn't like getting their nails trimmed, I would NOT recommend this place. The first few times we came here, it was amazing. Our dog is sensitive to getting her nails trimmed and I was amazed by how quickly and pain-free they were able to do it. 2-3 of the staff would work with her, one person cutting her nails and the others keeping her calm and comforted. It would be over in just minutes. HOWEVER, the last few times we've gone, it's been terrible. They put a muzzle on her and with just 1 staff trying to both cut and keep her calm, they were not quick so she would start crying and whining and not staying still. They said they did not want to cut her nails again and asked that we try elsewhere, which is understandable. I'm just disappointed that they were not as efficient and helpful as they used to be. read more

Love love this place. The team here is professional and love the amazing work they do. They always try to accommodate you with schedule. I am never disappointed with the haircut they give Hunter. When we dropped Hunter off, I feel like I am leaving him there for doggie daycare because of the set-up. It's cage free unless your furry friend is aggressive or misbehaving, then they do put them back in cage. What a wonderful surprise coming back from business trip! I am taking one star away from my previous review because I am disappointed in the way my dogs grooming turned out. I made an appointment for Saturday at 1:30pm. I arrived there on time for my appointment but I noticed a gentlemen with a terrier mix arrived at the same time. When I called the appointments were given in 30 minute intervals so he was either very late to his app,very early or was a walk in. This wouldn't have been an issue except I never received a call to pick up my dog so at 5 I went to see what was the delay. They hadn't finished with her and were very apologetic telling me she would be ready in an hour. I observed the terrier mix was not there so they had finished with him prior to starting with my dog. I can understand that some dogs take more time than others, but from 1:30 until 6pm.. When the purpose of setting an appointment if it isn't honored? They also did a terrible job on her underside,nicked her privates.It looks like a novice groomer did the work, pictures don't lie. I go to Diamond in the Ruff because up until now they have done beautiful work and treat my dog well..which I gladly pay extra for. I'm sorry but this time they missed the mark. Update: Thank you Sarah for taking the time to reply to my review. Your notes are correct, the first time she came to you was when we were fostering her. She had been picked up as a stray completely matted, and I we agreed that a shave down was needed. Excessive matting pulls the skin so the it would make sense the original notes indicated she had bad skin. Here we are half a year later and she is now healthy, and less nervous around the groomer. You addressed the redness but you didn't address the cut, it isn't reflective of the beautiful work you have done in the past with both my dogs. We love Diamond in the Ruff, thus my positive review but I owe it to the Yelp community to post transparent reviews, along with pictures supporting those reviews. read more

Found this place here on Yelp, and I am SUPER glad I did. Staff was very friendly when I called to make appointment, at first they didn't have anything open today but was able to squeeze my boxer, Willis, in for a bath!!! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because when you first walk in there was a ever so slight odor. I could have changed my mind and walked out of there but I chose not to. Staff came out front and took down all my information and asked my requests and asked what services he needed. Seemed customizable and that was great!!! Lastly, they have signs outside all over that your first service is 20% off. That wasn't stated at all and they knew I was new to the facility but I don't think it was taken from the total bill. Finding a GREAT groomer lately seems very difficult. I am glad I gave this place a chance and I would definitely recommend to all you furbaby owners to try it out! I have attached the picture I showed when I dropped my furbaby. I specifically mentioned to not shorten the the length because they were already short. I have showed this picture to all the groomers on past and never had problem. Customer feedback should be taken as a points to improve and not to justify your mistakes and blame on lack communication by customer. I glad you accepted in your comment that I showed the picture. A good groomer doesn't need directions on cut if they see the picture. I am also glad you mentioned that there was no matting, that is why I was more surprise why he was shaved in so many places. For sure I will not recommend anyone to your place for breeds which need extra care with hairs, you might be good for dogs with short furs. read more

My husband took my dog here to get a bath, nails trimmed, and ears cleaned. When he brought her home she was still a little bit wet, which I don't understand since she has short fur and she was there for over an hour. She also didn't smell like anything. My favorite part of a bath is how clean she usually smells afterwards. My problem here is with her nails. They came back worse than when they went in. We could have done a way better job at home. They are so sharp we need to be careful when playing with her, and with me being pregnant, this is the last thing I want to deal with. If your dog is shy, and intimidated by other dogs, this might not be the place for it. They have a doggy daycare and all the dogs run around freely. When my dog came home, she was exhausted, and my husband said she was cowering with fear under one of the tables. Overall I'm not impressed. read more

I have a lot of animals. This place is terrific! They are always welcoming and help me with clipping all my animals' nails, quickly and graciously and don't want to be paid! Of course I pay them because they work hard and my animals love them.. The place is immaculate and the dogs all calm and happy. I have been to Diamand in the Ruff with a friend. Sarah is a doll. I would like to include that she and her staff are very attentive to the pets. That is what I love. I also love the fact that I get exactly what I ask for. I have a Shih Tzu and I like her cut fairly low, with the exception of her ears and tail. That said. Kudos to you and your team Sarah. After going to several places to get my yellow lab groomed, I am so lucky to have found Sarah and all of the staff here. (My dog loves everyone but would cry when we pulled into the chain store I was taking her to....who knows what went on there). I cannot say enough great things about diamond in the ruff. Before I purchase anything , I always do a ton of research to make sure I spend my money on the best. This is my very FIRST TIME EVER writing a review. Diamond In The Ruff is the BEST!! I found this place through the Yelp app and I am sure as hell glad I came here. Sarah, the owner , is such a nice lady (pretty too) and her assistant (I forgot to get his name) was just as awesome and friendly! THIS is what a great dog groomer shop and business in general should be like! Sarah was so nice and polite both over the phone and in person and her assistant made me and my dog , Osito feel so welcomed. I recently rescued my shih tzu , Osito last year and had brought him to where his previous owners had him groomed which was "A Glamour Pet..." In Elmora and those people sucked and were very unprofessional especially compared to Diamond In The Ruff. I will now only come here to Diamond In The Ruff. As you can see in the before and after photo I uploaded below, they did a great job cutting his hair ! He smelled so good too! I love that they don't just throw my dog into some Kennel/cage like most groomer shops do! They placed my dog in this waiting room/ play center with the other dogs so he wasnt locked up by himself. He was so happy!! Diamond In The Ruff are underrated and don't advertise enough! (In my opinion). I had such a great experience here and I think my dog did too( He seemed so happy here compared to his old groomer shop). I have been going to this location since it was called Shampooch because of the close proximity to my house. However, I have really been extra happy since the new owner Sarah has taken over. She is just great with my dog. My dog gets excited when we pull into the parking lot. I was in a bind at one time, stuck at work couldn't leave and they stayed and waited for me. Not one complaint! Customer service is their forte. Of course, can't forget about what a terrific grooming job that they always give. Henry always looks adorable and fresh every time! After having a really bad experience with the groovy groom room in Scotch Plains, I was really afraid to try another groomer. I have a large terrier that doesn't like baths and a small terrier that always needs grooming. Both dogs love going there and they are very happy when I come to pick them up and watch them playing with other dogs. I also bring my cats there for their mani pedi's and they also don't mind going there. I recommend them to everyone. They do a great job with grooming and you can see that they are true animal lovers. Quality grooming, professional, and the shop is kept really clean. read more

A great place to have your dogs groomed. The groomers are caring and thorough and the dogs are well cared for. My girls were able to socialize with other dogs freely (not caged at all) which is a huge must for me. My shitzu pekeginese mix came out absolutely perfect and adorable and my pekeginese poodle mix came out so fluffy and cute she looks like a little teddy bear. We will definitely be back! They are so incredibly kind here - our dog always looks fantastic when he leaves. I also love that the dogs get to roam around the room. In the past, we took our dog to groomers that stuck him in a cage for hours. That's not the case here. Every time we drop him off, we know that he is in good and loving hands. Sarah and her staff are so warm, welcoming and accommodating, that I cannot imagine going anywhere else to take my four-legged baby to be groomed! I have been taking my now close to 15-year old "pup" to Sarah for years and he always came home looking great and most importantly calm, given how little he likes grooming. As he has aged and his mobility has declined, he has required special care and attention, which Sarah has always lovingly provided. I cannot urge strongly enough that if you love your dog(s) like family, there are no other hands you want to leave them in for grooming than Sarah and her staff at Diamond in the Ruff. We brought our 5 month old border terrier puppy Artie here for his first grooming experience. He requires hand stripping so it took us awhile to find a place that would do it. He looks great! So soft and trimmed up around his legs and face like we asked. He definitely had a blast playing with the other dogs and didn't even want to leave! Brought my dog here to be Groomed. When I arrived home and went to take him out of the car there was blood all over the sheet. I called the shop and they told me they cut his nail to short and he was bleeding but they stopped it. I was never told this when I picked him up. They asked me if I wanted to bring him back to stop it or pick up something to stop it. I would not go here. They did not even have the decency to tell me. I had the Vet next door stop the bleeding since it was on a Sat and my Vet was closed. read more

Lana our two year old Westie is our first dog. We have tried several area groomers. Most were OK and one we had a bad experience with. I had a good feeling about Diamond in the Ruff as soon as we entered the establishment. We were greeted by one of the owner's dogs. The facilities are very dog friendly and pristine clean. You can tell Sarah the owner is a dog lover and very passionate about her craft which extends beyond grooming into areas of dog behavior. We were delighted with Lana's grooming; she never looked so white. The extent of the services included in the grooming were remarkable. The Westie cut was perfect. Without a doubt, our search for the perfect groomer has ended. Diamond in the Ruff has boarding services and facilities. I would not hesitate to leave Lana in the capable hands of Sarah and her staff.
