I went in here to grab a few cigars for my friend's 50th birthday. His wife already let me know what brands he was into. I walked in the door and was greeted professionally, and I let the man know exactly what I was looking for therefore, I wouldn't just be walking around trying to find something. He walked me around and showed me different cigars, some of my friends favorite brands had some different types of cigar that he thought my friend might enjoy. So I grabbed my purchases and checked out. The ambience is really cool and not at all what I expected. I expected to come in and only smell cigar smoke throughout the whole place and not be able to see. While there was not a lot of people in there didn't smell cigar smoke. It wasn't until I left that I realized I smelled like cigar. I told the man helping us that my friends and I would love to do a ladies night there sometime. They have a good variety of whiskeys. He told me when we plan to do that let him know and he would set aside an area for just us girls. The experience was very pleasant and I would definitely do business with them again. My mom and I were looking for something to do kinda late on a Sunday night and she mentioned Karma...I'm not a cigar person but I thought why not and I'm so glad I went! It wasn't too busy and we were greeted warmly! Chuck explained how everything worked and offered several different options of cigars there were so many to choose from. Coming from Chicago, I truly appreciate a cigar bar that has food, a great selection of whiskey and cigars, and excellent service. I've found that here at Karma. The owner greeted me and my buddy when we walked in, and even sat down with us while we watched the a college football game! I geek out on stogies, and it was cool to rap with someone equally versed in the latest and greatest offerings (along with things coming in the future.) I was also impressed by the events the Marketing Director (Chuck) mentioned. Must cigar bars in Chicago charge high ticket prices for their vendor events (which is understandable.) But the rates for entry at Karma are very reasonable, and the pics of the spread (e.g. Food, etc) look legit. I'm looking forward to one of their events in the next future. I've driven past Karma Cigar Bar more than ______ (insert over inflated numerical value here) times since they opened their doors in 2016. Unfortunately, on almost everyone of those occasions my stupid kids were with me. A handful of those times the woman I'm married to was in tow, but that's not encouraging either. 94% of the times she's partaken in smoking a premium cigar, she's decided after only a handful of draws that cigars, in general, aren't really quote unquote, "her bag." (Was that redundant)? Anyway, she typically punctuates her disinterest by immedialty drilling the cigar into a nearby ashtray or shoving it into a swill filled beer bottle, business end first. It's like letting your seven year old order from the adult menu. You'd be better off order nothing for yourself and then just eating/smoking the "left overs." That's a pro tip if you didn't recognize it. Trust me, your wallet will be eternally grateful. Follow me back to the story. Yesterday, I decided to coordinate a pre-dinner meet up with the boys, at Karma. Is it ok to truncate at this point? Too soon? In the spirit of brevity I'm going to make an executive decision and go with "Karma," rather than its full legal title, it feels less formal and more inviting. Thats for you guys, Karma. I'm creating an air of comfortability and breaking down the preconception of exclusivity all in this one review. Behold, it's a total "double barrel." Myself, and my sidekick, arrived about 7:30 p.m., and were immediately greeted by a guy who I assumed was the house's cigar sommelier. He may have considered himself something completely different, but I didn't know any better. Plus, he was clearly more familiar with door knob on the the walk-in humidor than I was. Initially, I through the humidor was "members" or "employees only," but after watching every other Tom, Dick, and Harry, access its cigar filled belly without issue, I decided I was just an idiot who couldn't work an ornamental door knob. Adam, my sidekick, he's appaerntly an idiot too. I mean, it's really relevant and unhelpful to point out that he too was unable to manipulate the door knob, but it makes ME feel a little better that I wasn't alone. Hey, how about just installing a revolving door? Is there a suggestion box? It's probably inside the humidor, so I guess I'm gonna need someone else to add that pearl on my behalf. Hey, Down Here. There's more: As a cigar lover, I often trade cigar reviews and suggestions with every cigar smoker I come across. The vast majority or people are pedestrian and lack personality, but if they smoke cigars, at least I can spend waste those minutes of my life, in which I'm forced to interact with them on something productive. So in speaking to one of these fellow cigar lovers, I learned that KARMA boasts a signature stick they affectionally named "Black Berry Gordo." I acquired one of these bad-boys recently, on the street, and it DID NOT disappoint (* it should be noted, the street rarely disappoint) Unfortunately for myself and my compadre, on this occasion, NO MAS. No worries, our Cigar Master pivoted as professionals do, and put me right into a Coffee flavored Gordo. My associate was persuaded to partake in a Strawberry infused. We paired our tasty tobacco acquisitions with a glass of our favorite bourbon, respectively. We were eventually joined by the third member of our party who didn't partake in a fine cigar, but did enjoy an ice cold craft beer. Did I mention that the bartender was rocking some stone washed jeans? Hey... I used to have stone washed jeans. What the hell happed to stone washed jeans? They disappeared from the cultural lexicon without warning. Speaking of that, who decided we weren't doing Members Only Jacket any longer, either? But I digress. The atmosphere in this place was inviting and surprisingly, it was virtually smoke free. It was clean, aptly lit, and spacious. We were able to conduct our uninteresting conversation in near privacy. Both the bartender and our Cigarista visited out table frequently, making sure we were sufficently hydrated and tobaconated. I know it's not a word, but it doesn't matter, you defiantly understood what I was getting at. We ended up almost closing this bitch down, but decided we wanted to save something for next time. awesome cigar shop! i came on memorial day after i was just passing through, coming back from the sand dunes. i was pleasantly surprised to find indian tobacoonists especially in the middle of Indiana but there I was. They have a vast collection of cigars. VAST. i was able to pick up a bunch which I had never tried before. The owner, Dhiren, was very nice and kind enough to buy me a cigar and a drink. He was great to chat with and has alot of knowledge about the cigar business. The lounge itself is not too big nor too small. but it is well ventilated with nice seating to view games on the tv. it is also a great place to have a meeting or just chillax. i picked up a bunch of cigars which i had never seen before, including some Oliva's and Rocky Patel's. their prices are very reasonable. the only thing they dont have are cubans but i am sure they will find a way to get those once they are more commercially available. however the selection of domestic cigars, as well those from other parts of the world, is so huge , it is pretty overwhelming. I was in town for the home going Service for my Father in law. My brother suggested we take a break and visit Karma to smoke a cigar and have a cocktail. Great selection of premium cigars and high end liquors for your enjoyment. Great staff made us feel very welcomed while there for evening. Met a few other brothers of the leaf while there and we took time to visit a second time while home. We seen some of the same people there on our second visit and again had great conversation with all. Great lounge area with comfy seating and big screen tv's . Great ventilation system. Make sure you visit and register online and they will reward you with a welcoming gift online for your first visit. Looking forward to visiting them whenever I'm home back in the area. I've been in Karma several times since moving to the area..Dhirren and the staff are welcoming and amazingly hospitable....the selection of cigars are astounding..prices are on point with other places I have frequented. Humidors are kept at an acceptable range o humidity and temperature....I love this place!..plus if you want an alcoholic drink to enjoy with your cigar (plenty of seating area), you can get anything you want..great selection of ever changing beers on tap plus some local brews. This is a very difficult review to author because I just visited the most amazing smoke shop yet and I will never drive by it again. What's in Merrilville IN? Nothing really but this awesome smoke shop. The staff are super helpful, they have a huge selection of stogies AND they have some really hard to get sticks, like Fuente Sharks, Liga, ... A nice break from the pompous-ran cigar shops in the area. Has a nice lounge area with chess, tv, etc... Nice large selection as well as a walk-in humidor. Has Cigar companies come in on some saturdays for events and specials. I was there one Sunday early afternoon and struck up a conversation with a random customer there while I was waiting for someone. The owner came over and ordered us a pizza and had a bottle of wine on hand for us while we smoked and watched some football. How much better can it get, and what other cigar shop would do that for you? While there, it doesn't matter if you're a connoisseur or a smoking amateur, the staff as well as other customers are willing to help with finding you a cigar that you can feel comfortable smoking. I rated Karma Tobacco a five star. I travel across 4 states and stop in no less then 2 new shops ever week. Karma was by far, hands down the best lounge I've had the pleasure of finding. Huge selection of fine premium cigars. The lounge area is very large with ample seating for multiple groups of people. The air was light and I couldn't even tell anybody was smoking. The most amazing part was the owner, Dhiren Shah taking time to show me around and talk about upcoming events. Although I didn't have time to stay and connect with Dhiren on a deeper level. I walked into karma on my birthday night, had two friends with me and more on their way. Ordered a round of drinks, 30$+. Lit up a cigarette and was told that I could not smoke my cigarette in there amongst all the cigar smoke because I had not purchased the cigarette there. I will not be returning, ever. Let me explain my rating. This is actually a great place. The seating is good and spacious, plenty of TV's to watch your favorite sports, especially the game on Sunday. Full service bar with plenty of options and you can even order food that will be brought out to you. We even met some good folks and had great conversation with them. My issue is with the ventilation system. We went this past Saturday evening because I heard great things about this place. I love a good cigar lounge. One of the things I hate about cigar lounges is the lack of ventilation. Once you walk in the spot is smokey as hell and you walk out smelling like a smokestack. That's what happened here at Karma. There was so much smoke in there. When you blew the smoke, it just sat there in the air in front of you. Normal spots, the smoke would be pulled up to the ceiling and away from you. It wasn't totally packed but for the amount of people in the place, the ventilation should be so much better. It's a free standing building that should have no problem with this issue. If they get better ventilation, this would be a hot spot to go to. read more

One of the best selections of cigars in the area. Carrying a wide range of rare cigars such as Dirty Rats by Drew Estate and other limited releases. Dhiren does a good job arranging events from all the manufacturers as well. The owner is superb. He takes time out to welcome each guest and help them with their selections, but doesn't hover over you like a hawk like you're going to steal something.
