There's no longer a shortage of recognizable brand-name stores, which makes it feel more like a true shopping destination again. There is a mix of luxury stores and every-day shopping which brings good value. That said, there are still a few odd, lesser-known shops scattered throughout with inconsistent or unusual hours, which can be a little confusing. The food options are decent. The traditional food court is a bit of a letdown, but there are better standalone options throughout the mall like Rustica Bakery, Pezzo Pizza, Yumi Sushi, People's Organic, and others. Having Kowalski's grocery store on-site is also a big plus and adds convenience. Entertainment-wise, there's more to do now with options like an escape room and Dave & Buster's. The mall is spacious, never feels overly crowded, and has plenty of parking, which makes it easy and stress-free to visit. Overall, the updates are a very welcome change. Southdale feels revitalized, easier to navigate, and much more enjoyable than it was a few years ago.

It is a walkway that is lined by bars, restaurants with sidewalk seating, art, small, independent shops, bountiful greenery, it's always been closed to motor vehicles and restricted to buses and taxis, which has always been a nice advantage, especially in a downtown district. It is not as impressive as it once was, pre-COVID, but still a nice place to visit! One complaint from everyone is that there are no public restrooms, so f you need to go, you need to stop in to like a store like Target, or stop in at one of the many coffee shops and eateries for lunch or coffee...well, possibly that's what the intention is that there are no public restrooms...Hmmm.... I recently visited on a Sunday, my first time after so many years, to visit the Jackalope Art Fair, a downtown Minneapolis Street Festival, which started on 7th street down through Nicollet Mall and had an enjoyable time! I was already prepared ahead of time, regarding the public restrooms and parking, so I had no problems! One stop when you are here that's definitely a must is to check out the Mary Tyler Moore statue on 7th! The actual place and the statue is posed like how she did her beret toss on her show. Some shops are empty and others are being remodeled and opening again. I visited on a Friday (Valentine's Day) and it was pretty steady but not packed, I could find a place to sit down and relax by myself if I wanted to (and I did!) Shop selection is meh, I went into a few but didn't find anything to purchase which is just fine by me - I needed a place to hang out that was warm and this was it! Bubble tea, Caribou and smoothies to choose from - I didn't see a food court but I wasn't particularly looking.

Pig and Fiddle and a ton of other restaurants, shops and cute little businesses and it's so convenient to get over to Uptown. Parking is not that bad, but I was there early. I can see where it would get congested and hard to park. Definitely going to make it a point to get over to this part of France Avenue more. Love this area!

TJ Maxx is in a mall structure. Kohl's, across from TJ Maxx, is a part of the plaza style. It's different. There are quite a number of stores that I have yet to visit. I finally got around to visiting Starbucks. Traffic is one-way in that parking lot. Most folks don't care, though! I am still relatively new to this area. I would like to visit the Applebee's, and Bed, Bath, and Beyond the next time that I am shopping here. There is plenty of parking. I tend to park in the middle of the parking lot when I visit Kohl's and TJ Maxx. I just walk over without moving my car. I like this place. It has stores that I frequent and I tend to find good deals. I then treat myself to a drink at Starbucks and my day is completed. (7)

He then proceeded to grab my hand, and grab my hand again, this time holding it tightly. And before you say it, Yes. I know the difference between friendly, and not. As I'm inside, I share a similar experience to what I've read from other people -- these overly nice owners were trying to sell someone some 300 dollar Tibetan bowl. But the worst part. As I was checking out, the male owner came in. He walked up to me and put his hand on my lower back, & then proceeded to move it down, grazing my butt. As he did it, his wife stands there across the counter bombarding me with questions. I was shocked, and mortified, and got so anxious so quickly, that the female store owner even recognized it and said, "We're making her nervous with all of our compliments!" Yes. You were making me nervous. Your overcharge, combined with the fact that your husband just touched my ass. Literally --just sexually grazed me. A teenage girl. In front of you. I will never be back again. So wrong. Inappropriate. Fake. Overpriced. Claiming to be buddhists, and yet. This happened. Seriously, a horrible experience.

It's in a quiet plaza with a ton of parking. I pulled into a spot and walked in. This store has an older design. It seems to have been around for a while. However, many businesses in this plaza haven't survived, so the surroundings feel a bit eerie. I was here for a cheap notebook to practice calligraphy. I found one that looked like one that I had in high school. It was perfect for my needs. The snacks and food sections were pretty decent. The frozen food section had breakfast sandwiches, ice cream, and more. I ended up getting a one-litre bottle of Diet Pepsi and ramen. This store had a nice variety of ramen. The woman at the checkout seemed preoccupied with getting off work. She did manage to bag my items and ring up the bill. I paid with a credit card. Done! It's a huge store with a lot of variety. There was a Christmas merchandise sale. I ended up getting heavily discounted strawberry Jello candy canes, which are yummy. I saw everything from Cold Stone Creamery, to Twinkies candy canes. Cool and different! I enjoyed shopping at this Dollar Tree. I'd return when I'm back in the area. (9)
