After my three year old (who has never been in day care or preschool) attended this school for less than 48 hours. I was told that,due to the fact that he would not sit still for circle time & follow directions (the routine of the class)-100% & that if he couldn't do so within the next 3 days (signed up for the last two weeks of the school year & paid registration fee for summer program to follow) he could no longer attend. They placed my son on a 1:1 for someone to follow him around as though he was a threat to their preschool. If you are truely familiar with the Montessori Methods.....this is not it! They appear to have the Montessori tools for learning upon viewing the school/classroom, but they do not actual follow the teaching methods of it! If your child does not follow directions 100 % & does not immediately adapt, the Directress Lenore will be very condescending, biased & down right offensively rude-even suggesting have my son evaluated for "special services." The teachers will smile so beautifully in your face just to "kick you & your child in the back." They do not possess character traits of "loving hands" nor the actual "Montessori Methods." These preschoolers today are our future & if you want to build your child's self-esteem within the educational setting-this is NOT the place.

I was told by several people in the community that it was a great place for children with developmental disabilities. I definitely made the right choice! He was lucky enough to have Miss Christi for the integrated pre k program. She is fantastic! Thanks to her he was able to move to a general education program for elementary school. When it was time to look for preschool for my other children I looked no further. My son was placed with Miss Christine for the 3s program. He really enjoyed going to her class. She always had wonderful activities and projects planned. She also helped me realize that he also needed some additional services. Thanks to her he is currently in Miss Amy's 4 year old integrated class and he is doing amazing! He is so excited to go to school each day and so eager to learn! He even knows his numbers and letters! My daughter also went to building blocks. She was in the toddler program with Miss Dawn. She is the type of child who doesn't separate easily but Miss Dawn made it happen!! By day three She was running into the classroom without looking back at me! I have never seen my daughter happier! Miss Dawn is the greatest toddler teacher in the world! My children have also received related services through building blocks. Miss Shannon was my older son's occupational therapist and I was overjoyed when I found out that she would be working with my younger son! He also receives physical therapy with Miss Amy and speech therapy with Miss Alexa. I cannot say enough about each of these women. I feel so lucky to have them in my corner. My children have grown so much and come so far due to their hard work and dedication. I would also like to mention the nursing staff. My daughter has epilepsy so you can imagine how nervous I was to send her to a program. Thanks to the amazing nursing staff I had no fear! They are so knowledgeable and they made me feel so comfortable! I knew that she was well taken care of at every moment!! Overall building blocks has exceeded all of my expectations. Every staff member including teachers, assistants, therapists and administrators have been nothing but kind and nurturing throughout this preschool experience. I am forever grateful to this wonderful school!!

The admission fees is very expensive and I paid 400.00 each for two shadow dates and a statewide assessment test. Both of my children were denied into the school grades K & 7th. I was told they didn't test at a high enough percentile out of 96%, total BS. I must admit I was angry, but luckily both of my children were accepted into a better more diverse school. No child's needs a school were the faculty shrug their faces up at children visiting and are only out for money with fees combined with fees.. Overall Bridges Academy in West Islip is a Racist Parent run school who clearly doesn't want no kids from any other background unless your white with blue eyes!!!!!

This lead him to feel very isolated which then manifested as anger and sadness at times. We discovered VEG when looking for something that he could do with kids that shared his interests. His father received positive feedback from a coworker who's children had all attended the VEG program and still talk about it (even now that they are in their latter high school years). After the first session, we noticed an instant positive change in our son's self esteem. He was eager to share everything that he learned. As he continued throughout the year he repeatedly expressed how grateful he is to be a student at VEG. The curriculum is clearly very well thought out and designed for children similar to my son. As a parent of an academically gifted child, I have learned that one of the most challenging things to overcome is remembering that although our son is extremely bright and is able to see the world in a way that is more mature than his peers (and many adults)...he is in fact still 9. He is still a child and wants to have fun. He wants to feel accepted and celebrated for his accomplishments. At VEG he gets this. Striking the right balance between stimulating the mind of the gifted child and still allowing them to be a child is not an easy task. Well done Village East Gifted! At only 5 years old my daughter learned all 118 elements of the period table, and a long list of SAT words (that I didn't even know) along with the corresponding sign language. Each year, she and her classmates learned the geography of a different part of the world, putting all of the parents to shame with their knowledge. The program encompassed many diverse and interesting topics such as herbology, ornithology, Roman numerals, Greek and Latin root words, gothic architecture and the complete map of NYC including bridges and tunnels, just to name a few! The best part of all was that my daughter viewed all of this learning as "play" and she loved attending. I can't say enough positive things about this program, and highly recommend it for all precocious children!

She loved all of her teachers, loved all the monthly themes and arts and crafts. She ALWAYS came out of school with a smile on her face. As a parent, I felt very comfortable knowing Peanut's was a safe environment with teachers and Directors who truly care about the well being of all of their students. My son is currently enrolled in the 2's program. He has grown so much since the start of the school year; I am already sad thinking about when my Peanut days are over. My son LOVES his teacher and co-teacher. When the teachers greet his class in the morning, my son lights up, smiles so big and rushes to get into the gate.
