The lanes are divided into two sections, where in between it is the restrooms. There are various arcade games available to keep you occupied if you are waiting for your games/lanes. There's also a pool table and an air hockey table around. I'm pretty sure the place will be packed during weekends. From the first few throws, it did felt like the lane isn't as oily anymore. However, since we went there in the evening, it's common for lanes to run dry. It makes no difference to me though. I'm no curler nor spinner. I'm just your average straight ball down the middle guy. So long as i hit the sweet spot, the pins will go down.;) I also find the staff in the Centre are all very polite and genuinely interested in providing you a service. So, initially nearly run over by a hoon in the car park, then greeted by some 'interesting' characters loitering by the door, I felt I was right back at my teenage years. Felt quite at home. Needless to say there was some trepidation surrounding the shoes. Quite surprising though, the first pair fitted and was actually smell free, newer and cleaner than the ones I was wearing! Can't really complain. Didn't manage to pick a ball to match though, which was a slight disappointment, but I struggled on. Staff members were helpful and friendly and the food was another surprise. Both my bowling partner and I enjoyed hamburgers that were fresh, tasty and well cooked in a home-cooked style with a soft fluffy bun. Very nice. Chips were ok, but I was too full to eat but a few. There are quite a few food and drink options on the menu, but don't expect a quinoa salad or anything too light. But that's ok, it's that kind of place and one needs a certain amount of calories to keep fueled up! We managed to squeeze in a bit of bowling amongst the food and fashion and it was loads of fun! Boy there are some unusual people there, which provides entertainment in itself. The bowling lanes were clear and working efficiently and the automatic scoring screens were easy to read and follow. There are various deals on the website worth checking out, like the M-Th unlimited deal for 19.90/pp. I'd type more except I now have no pain-free muscles left at all. So I guess we have established that I did REALLY WELL at bowling - a 'work team building event' at which I beat my boss...(maybe not a good career move???) but what about the venue? Well it was surprising clean, tidy and presentable for a bowling alley - i don't know why but I have memories of them being dirty....but not so much here! I also noticed you can play laser skirmish here - ultimate party fun times! The food offerings were very...yellow. By which I mean deep fried but I guess that's what ya get! Junk food and fun family activities go hand in hand...right? I had a quick check of the prices and they seemed kinda expensive if you bring the whole family...but I don't really have any thing to compare it to...plus I didn't have to pay - (thanks word!) so no complaints here!

Bowling is an awesome activity, I used to love going during school holidays and for birthday parties, and have been hanging out for ages to go lately! Golden Grove is one of the biggest and oldest bowling centres I've been to around Adelaide, and the place is very open and fun. The lanes are quite easy, have bumpers, are quite well serviced and the technology has been upgrading constantly. There are plenty of balls to choose from, good food, a bar and pro shop. One thing with bowling though, it's not the cheapest.. so take advantage of holiday deals and get a group together. But it's a nice, cool way to spend a few hours in a hot summer.

Even before high school, I used to come here as a kid and always found it to be a safe and comfortable environment. Bordered by Rivington Grove, Kennaway St and Stirling St, Tusmore Park has a number of great facilities. In the summer there is a wading pool for kids, there are two playgrounds plus a fenced area for extra security, public toilets, and a large grass area for sports. BBQ facilities are also available, as well as picnic areas. There is ample street parking, plus the park provides a lot of shade from surrounding trees. It is a beautiful park, complete with five (I think) free tennis courts as well. It does get busy, especially in summer and on weekends, so get there quick.

I used to come here a lot as a child and have many fond memories. Even in my older years I still frequent Tusmore Park for a spot of inner city landscape painting. There is a small wading pool for small children which is covered by a pergola for sun protection. The creek only really runs in the winter time and even then is quite shallow. There is a bunch of playground equipment as well as bbq facilities. The Hanson reserve provides a sizable patch of grass for ball games and the like. At the base of the reserve is a section reserved for the regrowth native vegetation, as well as a sort of little Forrest of older trees, which is great fun for kids to explore. The park gets quite busy on the weekends during summer, when lots of families have picknicks and bbqs. Probably best to get there early to ensure you get a spot.

The entrance is pretty cool for a bowling alley with a thin long corridor well lit with neon lights before entering the 20 or so lane alley. They have a cafe and a bar in there with a jukebox that can play any music you want (it is coin operated and has a good variety of songs spanning across the genres). In terms of pricing and food, Marion Bowland does well. Around $13 for a game throughout the week or 2 games for $20 is excellent value. That price includes the shoe hire, and unlike other bowling alleys, the shoes are actually pleasant and do not smell like sweat. Food is great. They have the standards such as hotdogs, chips and burgers, along with a few nicer items on the menu too such as sandwiches. I had a hotdog at Bowland when there a little while back. The sausage was lean and well cooked, the bun was soft and fresh and the condiments of tomato sauce and American mustard were well dispersed. Bowling balls come in many sizes, so you can easily pick the one to suit your bowling style. I generally pick one of the lighter ones - just personal preference. The computer displays are clear and easy to read. They are also easy to setup. Just a tip though. If you are going at a busy time of the week, such as the weekend or Friday night, then you will need to book as the alley will be packed. Also, watch out for school holidays as they can be very busy here too. Overall, an excellent bowling experience. You will not be disappointed.

Perhaps the only downfall (and not a huge one at that) is that it butts right up against the train line so every now and then you have to yell for about 15 seconds. There's no shade cloth over the play equipment but most of the tables are in the shade and there's naturally a lot of trees in the area so it could just be in the middle of the day that it gets direct light. The whole area is wheel chair accessible, even the toilets. The lawn area could be a little hard for wheels though, it tends to get a bit dippy and bumpy. *No dogs allowed*

Because of the focus on play equipment, it may seem there's a lot less to do for parents and other attendees. Perhaps this is true. Unless you're a badass like me, who likes to ruin the fun all the kids are having by having more fun yourself. And the toilets are okay too, I guess.

You just need to get permission from Unley Council to erect a marque in the case of extreme weather.

In an attempt to kill some time before a movie which we were early for (okay, we were actually LATE for the early screening so now had to attend the later one...) Intencity was the number one choice! Packed full of arcade games of yesteryear (well okay, from the mid 2000s) Intencity was the number one choice for the coolest kids party back in the day. Now, most kids have cooler games plugged into their TVs at home. The boys were occupied with a shooting game for a while - good value for $2 and then I took one of them on in a game of Air Hockey - great fun and it lasted for ages as the machine wasn't picking up every score!! Free game time FTW!!! It was at this point that we decided to try and win 'tickets' from the machine. We tried to dupe the machine and get as many tickets as we could but after spending $10 between three of us we only had enough to get 2 fun sized mars bars or 10 minties. Unfortunately many of the games were out of order - I was super keen to have a dance battle, and show off my 90s Brittany style dance moves - but I couldn't do that, partially because of the machine not working and partially because I have no moves. In fact, I'd say about 50% of the machines had an out of order sign and for that reason, points have been deducted!

It was quite interesting however to see that a lot of the machines were out of order when I was there. Albeit the prizes being worth a gazillion tickets, Intencity is a great way to use a couple of dollars and get some good entertainment.
