He seems like the only true sales associate who actually knows about the jewelry in that store and is there to provide you with soooo many options to fit your needs. I got both my engagement ring and wedding band from John (worked with a lady first that didn't help much), and my husband got his band too. We had such a delightful experience with John about a year ago and cannot recommend him enough. We probably wouldn't have even shopped at Kassab if it weren't for him and his professionalism, respectfulness, knowledge and overall ability to help you find EXACTLY what you're looking for. Fast forward to this year, when my husband lost his band and I decided to surprise him with a new one. I emailed John and he set me up to come into the store, buy the exact ring my husband had the first time and leave with a display ring to present to my husband so he could come back in after to have his finger re-measured before we put in the order. Once he was given his ring (he was SO excited by the way!) we stopped in on our way home from the coast and I had my husband go in while I stayed in the car with the dogs. The receipt I gave my husband clearly specified the ring I bought and that the ring he was coming in with was to be returned so he could measure his finger and order to the right size to have his dream ring again. He came out after about 45 minutes baffled. Apparently when he went in, the older gentleman he went to asked him what he needed, he said he'd like to return this ring to get his ring, the guy asked what was wrong with it, my husband rightfully said "this one sucks, I want my ring" (trust me, I was given that display ring because it specifically had no interest in it and wouldn't be missed in that display case LOL) and handed the guy the receipt that showed what I had actually bought. He scoffed. "This ring doesn't suck" and then started telling the women behind the counter "this guy thinks this ring sucks". So unprofessional. Another gentleman walked up to try to help and was more helpful (my husband admits), but they just wouldn't take the time to understand what was going on. I bought a specific ring, he was there to return this one and get the right size for the actual ring I ordered (unless he saw something he liked more). Simple. They didn't show him any new collection, just said "this is what we have" while pointed at the case. So helpful..... not. After some back and forth of trying to get him to buy the platinum instead of the gold (which at first they said was cheaper and then oh... nvrmd its $900 more), they finally accepted the return and resized his finger to order the ring. They started saying square rings are hard to size and that's why it was too big blah blah blah.. it was a DISPLAY ring to be presented to him. Not his size at all, WE KNOW. When he walked out he said thanks for helping and neither of them acknowledged him. After hearing all this in the car, I went back in and promptly cancelled the order. Told them exactly why and that I was pissed he got scoffed at, was talked to like he was crazy for not liking the DISPLAY ring, wasn't given any help in making sure he didn't like others better, and ultimately left without any other words from the salesman other than why the square DISPLAY ring was hard to size because of the shape. They even tried telling me he came in carrying an ice cold water and that's why his size went from a 10.5 to an 8.5.... No sir he's always been an 8.5. He said "no his last ring was 10.5, I looked while he was in here. I'll double check". He looked and guess what, his last ring was an 8.5. Meanwhile the initial dude that was helping my husband was across the store making eye contact with me several times and then looking away. All this to say.... If you go here, ask for John. He seems to be the only one we've worked with who knows what he is talking about, will take the time to understand what you're looking for, provide MANY options to narrow down what he thinks you'll like, and then ultimately show you a ring you love. I stopped into Kassab at Washington Square just to inquire about a cleaning and perhaps some repair work on a 3 diamond dinner ring. It is 30 years old and quite beat up. I wear it always, never removing it. I had been spending $200-$300 every few years for upkeep. I inquired and out walked Cody- the Bench Jeweler. Right then he helped me get the ring off, took it into the shop, cleaned, inspected, straightened the band and brought me back a gorgeous piece of jewelry. " I don't need to leave it?" Very poor customer service, rude sales people. I came in today to see if I could get my ring sized (classic 18k yellow gold solitaire that needed to go down one size). As I approached the counter two salesman talking to each other both looked at me almost with a "what do you want?" demeanor. I asked if they sized rings and the man replied curtly that they can, but there is a wait cause they were "backed up right now". He asked me what I had and I handed him the ring, he took out his loupe (little magnifying glass) I'm assuming he noted that it was a lab-created diamond and handed it back promptly saying "no we don't size online jewelry here. Take it to the jeweler" Needing clarification I asked "what jeweler?" The man practically sighed, barely hiding his annoyance and replied "The Jeweler, it's a shop below the food court." He handed the ring back and then turned back to the other employee and continued their conversation that I was rude enough to interrupt. The whole interaction left me feeling devalued as a customer and just as a person- it was upsetting and disappointing. The customer service was bad before he saw that I had an "online ring" but became even worst after the fact. I didn't bother to ask why he told me that they could size my ring two second prior to looking at it and determining that it was a lowly lab created diamond lol. Still not sure why they couldn't size a very simple ring down one size because of where it was purchased. I have heard the salespeople are snooty at Kassab but I have never actually been in to see it for myself, but based on my experience today the reputation is well deserved. Yesterday, one of the diamonds fell out of my wedding band and the jewelry store where my husband purchased my rings is no longer in business. I went online, did a little research and chose Kassab. I called the store and spoke to a very nice lady named Rebecca who is a joy to talk to. She explained how the process works and told me to come in the next day which was today (Sunday). I had also sent a chat message yesterday and she followed up with me today telling me she looked forward to seeing me at the store which I thought was amazing that she remembered our phone call as I'm sure she talks to multiple people every day. I went in today and received a very warm welcome as I entered the store. Cody Freeman took excellent care of me... From the moment I walked in, to the time I left I had amazing customer service from all of the employees there. My husband bought my original engagement ring from Kassab's back in 2008, and we had a wonderful experience. Flash forward 13 years, when we were looking to upgrade my ring, and Kassab's was first on our list. I knew I wanted an emerald cut solitaire, but I was unsure of the size or what kind of setting I wanted. So I picked up the phone on a Sunday afternoon and gave Kassab's at Washington Square a call and was connected with Michael Milner. He listened to me describe in detail exactly what I was looking for and told me that he would be able to bring in a couple of diamonds for me to look at within a few days, and that I could also view some different settings while I was there to see if anything appealed to me. As promised, the diamonds arrived bright and early that Wed morning, so I headed over to take a look. Well, to say that Michael nailed it is an understatement. The diamonds were stunning, but I immediately fell in love with one stone in particular and knew that it was the one. Next up was the setting. And oh boy, did I ever put Michael through the ringer. I went back and forth so many times trying to decide on what I wanted, yet all the while he listened carefully and patiently to what I did or did not like about each one I was shown, until we finally got to the perfect setting. A gorgeous Tacori that was a simple band like I wanted, yet had some delicate detailing on the side to make it unique. This one also had a mini halo around the center stone, which I had never seen before, but loved. And even though it was made for a round center stone, Michael told me it could be customized for my emerald cut diamond. And that was it. This was THE ONE. Order was placed that day. Also, I forgot to mention that I turned in my existing engagement ring so that I would be able to trade in the value of my center stone toward the new diamond, and Kassab's was kind enough to fit my original setting with a CZ at no additional cost so that I could use it as a vacation ring if I wanted. Super classy. So two weeks later, my husband received the call that my ring was ready for pickup. I was beyond excited!! We went down on a Saturday evening after dinner, and all I can say when Michael brought out the ring and I saw it is wow! It was gorgeous and exactly what I wanted. Scratch that, it was even more beautiful than what I had hoped for. It fit perfectly, and I haven't stopped staring at it since I got it. :) So Kassab's does it once again! Our entire experience was very easy, Michael educated us on everything we needed to know and kept us informed throughout, and he somehow managed to know exactly what I wanted, even when I couldn't seem to articulate it myself. So if you are in the market for an engagement ring or some other piece of jewelry for a special loved one in your life, and you are looking for a place that not only has beautiful pieces, but will take excellent care of you and who stands behind their name, then Kassab's is where you want to go. I inherited a 18K gold Necklace with a very unique and intricate design from my mother. When we took it to this jeweler, a middle aged man at the front desk greeted us. I initially visited a nearby competitor of Kassab's with the intent of buying a very fancy engagement ring for my fiancé, but was really discouraged by the salesperson I was working with. She was inattentive, was not actively listening and after having spent an hour there, still really had no clue as to what I was looking for. I left feeling deflated. Then I discovered Kassab. On my first visit to Kassab I met with Michael and Kevin. Within minutes it was very evident to me that they were far more adept. Right away I felt comfortable entrusting these gentlemen and this establishment with such a large and meaningful purchase. Michael has worked in jewelry for fourteen years and Kevin, twenty. They were exceptionally knowledgeable on gold, stones, weights, color, clarity, on and on. I am a very busy person and because of my schedule, had to make a few visits. Each time they went out of their way to make themselves available and each time they were very professional, attentive and patient (this was my first time buying an engagement ring and admittedly, I was clueless). Rana was very patient with me. I am extremely particular to an OCD extent. I tried ring after ring on, thinking I'd like one thing, but apparently I had very little clue of what I liked. Rana pointed me in the direction of Tacori, which is a handcrafted & designer label line, and I found my ring! Next step was Rana letting my now hubby know, and him picking the diamond with her assistance. We very much appreciated Rana taking her time searching for the perfect diamond for the set. It did take a week or so until she found the highest quality diamond for our budget, but so worth it. When we had the diamond and ring appraised it was worth a great deal more than we paid. Recently went to kassab off the recommendation of a mutual friend. I worked with Michael there and I have to say, Michael went way above and beyond what I would expect. I was sweating bullets walking into other jewelers, and to be honest pretty lost. I had an idea what I wanted and what my now fiancé would like, but had no idea what was a good deal/ bad deal, how diamonds are graded, or really anything. Other jewelers confused me more, and were definitely trying to sell me on something, more than find the right ring for us. Michael called and texted on days off, gave me practical information on what's worth paying for and what's not. Helped me mold what I liked into something even more beautiful, and helped me shop around for the best value on a beautiful stone. Showing me differences and things that I should look for in size and clarity I hadn't even thought of. He also helped me get this ring in a short amount of time, during holiday season, shipped it to me in time for a trip abroad and the ring looked absolutely incredible. I can't say enough how far above and beyond Michael went for us. I was really happy with how I thought it would look, and that exceeded expectations as well. As a young guy that was lost, and nervous about the whole process I can't say enough how helpful Michael was. Really knocked it out of the park in service, price, and the final product. I would recommend everyone and anyone to him. This was obviously a huge part of my life and i was so happy with the experience at kassab. Don't waste time at other jewelers, pay Michael a visit. Pierre was fantastic! After researching a few jewelers and rings with my soon-to-be fiancée, I knew what she wanted. We couldn't find an exact match. I contacted Pierre and set an appointment. Within 15 minutes of providing background info to Pierre, he and his colleague showed me four rings. Each one was close and the fifth was a perfect match!! Twenty minutes, I was in and done.
