I cannot recommend Katana Kafe enough. The gnocchi was DELICIOUS. I could literally taste that it was homemade. I maybe would've added something like tomato to it, but the pesto was downright beautiful. Additionally, service was good! The appetisers were also delicious. Packed with flavour and evident consideration was made to pair the dishes with the perfect bread. All that being said, the Bailey's cheesecake was a letdown as a Cheesecake fanatic. This is a somewhat off the main grid , but it's behind the London Ont airport, and Sunday night we found it and shortly after 5pm this restaurant filled up. Service was great , from seating to drinks and 5 great dinner plates , Caesar salads , coho salmon and huge burgers, fries were good too There was no complaints on sticky pudding and chocolate brownie deserts As I was facing the open kitchen I missed our experience waitress SHAKE UP some cocktails but wow I heard the cracked ice , Not many airplanes landing ; it's London after dark ! I was lucky enough to convince my friend who won a contest that he should take me as his date to have a free dinner here. It's at the airport, but not actually connected to the airport. With that being said, the place was packed and you can see the planes land from where you are sitting, which is fun if you like watching planes. I got the crab cakes and chicken stuffed with asparagus with rice from my meal. They were both delicious and the portions were perfect. I was honestly stuffed, but because the meal was free, it included dessert. I really wish I had gotten the sorbet, because then my review would be a five star and not a 4. Instead, I got the brownie with vanilla ice cream. The brownie was a caramel color and cold, which was off putting because I feel as though brownies should be nice and warm when served with ice cream. I cannot put into words how delicious my food was. I ordered wild game for dinner which is always a gamble when eating in restaurants, it was cooked to perfection. Hands down one of the best dining experiences in a restaurant I've had. Simply incredible. read more

The Katana Kafe is a Five Star review from my Husband and I. We were greeted with a smile and served in a very timely manor. The staff were super friendly with a cheery attitude. The atmosphere is very clean, neat, and tidy. The food was delicious, they have a decent variety of foods to choose from: Burgers, wraps, sandwiches, hame made pizzas, and a special deal each day. We both had slightly different preferences like asking for a chicken Caesar wrap (wasnt on the menu), and a sandwich requested in a tortilla wrap vs a bun, there were no issues in substituting or changing up the order to our likings. The Portions were very generous! You will pay a little bit more to eat here, but you can't beat the view! So if you love Airplanes this has you eating your lunch on the flightline. read more

This isn't my first time at this restaurant but I am a somewhat disappointed with the food this time. I got the katana burger which is about 22.00. For this price i would of expected something incredible but it was mediocre. The burger was dry and lacklustre. The thing that was the icing on the cake was the fact that they honestly gave me six french fries my plate looked bare and quite frankly ridiculous. I have never gone there & been disappointrd in all of it. Be it lunch or dinner. The food is awesome. Last night we brought a couple who hadn't been before. 3 of had Halibut. The other had Elk. We also ordered the scallops & they were delish. They will certainly return. 1/2 price bottles of wine Wednesday is such a great idea. This place is a pathetic joke. The only reason you should ever even consider going here is if you're a desperate traveller stuck for some reason at London's airport -- and even then, still, I feel wrought with pity for your terrible situation if you have to eat here. SHORT STORY============ 1) I thought that the service was understaffed, but I realised in the end that they were both just useless 2) The "chef" is equivalent to a high school cafeteria cook 3) Entrees range from $25 to $30 for crap that I can make from frozen TV dinners 4) If that wasn't clear enough, it's a bunch of frozen crap reheated for ridiculous rates 5) If you are actually from London and considering eating, continue reading to figure out why you shouldn't LONG STORY============= - We went here on my mother's recommendation for a family dinner (6 people) for which she constantly apologized afterwards - The place is in the middle of absolute nowhere, and even once you're in the building, you still think that security is going to ask you to leave. It's like you found some unlocked warehouse, and you think a security guard is going to come and ask you to leave. - When we arrived, server was immediately dismissive. She flicked her hand at the table we had reserved, walked away, and made no eye contact. This should have been my first hint. - I get a moment to scan the place and note how it looks like a kindergarten room from the 90's, with nice worn-out burlap carpet and cafeteria chairs included. The only redeeming factor is the view of the airport runway (which, because it's London, is effectively dead) - This is when some little chatty guy comes in who obviously knows the server. He sits at the bar; she continues the rest of the evening letting service get worse and worse because she's too busy chatting with him at the bar. - The entire group arrives within five minutes, but the server wouldn't come to the table for another fifteen. I was this close to getting up, walking to the bar, and fetching her attention. - I get to look at the menu. This is where I start laughing about $30 entrees for a place in the middle of nowhere beside a locked-up Diamond Aircraft souvenir store. But hey, I'll give any place a chance. - Server couldn't specifically name a single item on the generically labeled "artisan charcuterie" and cheese board. Listen, if you think "Ummm, Like, Brie" is worth me paying that price, I can just go down to Costco and buy a wheel of it. I determined that it was just a bunch of cold cuts and sandwich meat. - We ordered the mussels to share before our entrees. Canned pinapple slurry and brown, limp bell peppers with a tasteless broth. Aside from the fact that it was almost unpalatable, and I don't know what would ever possess someone to make this dish and put it on the menu, but maybe they just like $2 Hawaiian pizza slices and wanted to capture that magical flavour 2am Pizza Pizza flavour. Yes, I could taste the aluminium. - At this point I note that the "chef" is just some monkey line cook. The kitchen is completely open, so it conveniently displays what a filthy disorganised shit-hole it is at no extra charge. This visibility becomes very important later in my story. - Entrees get ordered and finally arrive. I won't even get into the mediocrity of my shrimp linguine... (ok I will: rubbery overcooked shrimp from a frozen bag; pasta so overcooked that it kept breaking when I tried to lift it with my fork; the sauce was some flavourless soupy liquid that made the pasta break more) - The point is that my mother ordered the strip loin, which I think was $30. She ordered it medium. It comes rare and the disgusting amount of gristle on it wasn't even close to being rendered. It's basically a $30 piece of gristle, and under-seasoned no less. My mom is shy and timid, so I bring this situation to light to the miserable excuse of a waitress. She brings it back, and I can watch her and the "chef", through the open kitchen window, fondle it and poke it (no hand washing) and throw the thing back on the grill instead of firing a new one. When it comes back, it's the exact some piece of mangled meat with multiple cut marks desperate to look for a bite of actual flesh beyond the gristle, and it's still rare. - I say that enough is enough. I had my pasta-mash packed up but just left it on the table as a snub. Waitress was shocked that we didn't want to take home a $30 piece of raw fat. The only person that was happy was my grandmother, but she's lived through war and will be kind to everyone and find everything delicious. My mom wouldn't stop apoligising for recommending the place and said she'll never go back. I feel bad for her; we've all been there. There are some great places in London that are far more deserving of your cash, know a proper cut of meat, know how to cook said meat. Hell, they probably know how to cook pasta, too. Spend your money at those places instead. On the bright side, I got to see a plane take off. read more

Heard about this place and thought we would give it a try. 15 of us went and it was the best meal I have ever had. Everyone at our table enjoyed the delicious appetizers, dinner and dessert. This place is definitely a hidden gem. Watching the planes out the window just added to the experience. Fully recommend. read more
