I would rate zero if I could! I rarely write reviews but I would hate others to waste money. This place is dirty. The staff is rude and disrespectful. Especially the older black guy on skates. He kept harassing my guest. I'm guess it makes him feel like a MAN to Harris teenage boys. They are here skating on a Saturday night staying clear of trouble but this guy wouldn't leave them alone he actually skated behind two of them saying rude things. HOW UNPROFESSIONAL. The games in the arcade don't work. The frozen food is just that. I will never come back here it was a terrible experience. Can't believe this place is actually still in business. Originally went for family package (Thursday's), which was $30 and then was told had to pay $50 for unlimited pizza hotdogs and a tub of popcorn. None which i wanted. But made it worst popcorn was a day old. Horrible and pizza cold. Only reason i gave 3 was because kids had fun. read more

We came for the first time ever today and we have really enjoyed ourselves. It's nicely kept and clean. It has a large skating area and my Little's loves the indoor play area. Staff was very friendly. We will for sure be coming back. read more

My family decided to have fun and take our kids here. Our son was told not to touch the wall that was assisting him with staying up right. He was moving the entire time and asked the guy whl told him to get off the wall if he could hold it until he got to the end and get off. He was yelled at and told no. He respectfully listened and got off the wall and immediately fell and hit his head hard. We fear he may have a cocussion. read more

I have had to endure this place twice now, once by choice and once by obligation. The good: skate floor seems in good repair and the rental skates are plentiful and in ok shape. The bad: stinks, unfriendly staff, dirty tables and not much side wall to help out beginners. In general, it's much like I remember of rinks from the 80's. Nothing new here. read more

Today I paid $15 per child, skates and jungle play are included they said, immediately older kids were kicked out because they are tall, I told the manager we better leave since it was over price they can't even play there, disrespectful manager told me he won't give me money back it was not his problem my kids were tall, he can give me a free pass $7 value for next time, that he shouldn't even do that for me, and add immature people like me complain on media, and to go ahead and do it he will blocked me anyway, 2 of my kids were next to me they couldn't believe how rude he was, after all he finished with worse thing can happen, really? read more

For skating the place is good. You can rent regular skates or inline. I have rented the regular skates & some of them are rather beaten up. Don't try the arcade. Nothing works. It's really pretty bad that Kate's hasn't done something about the arcade. They are allowing their customers to get ripped off constantly! There's no excuse for this. read more

There are so many this wrong with this place. As we walk in the door, it took about 10 minutes before we were greeted. We paid $7 for each of us to get in plus $1 for each of the kids to get roller skates and $3 for me to get roller blades. (1 adult and 2 kids). We go to get our skates and we are mobbed a group of camp kids trying to turn in their skates ad get their shoes back. The skate sizes run a shoe size too big. It took me exchanging out 3 different pairs of roller blades to finally get a pair that didn't have broken laces or missing laces. Then the last pair I got was hot and sweaty from someone before, SO DISGUSTING! I then realized after putting on one skate that the other of the 4 pair had broken laces AGAIN! So I finally asked for a new shoe lace and I'd change it out myself. Then the lock on the ratcheting ankle straps on my roller blades were broken so the kept loosening up. We finally get on the rink and there were kids everywhere racing round in all directions, about to run into you, cutting through the middle and going right in front of you or someone else. There was one camp group after another that kept flooding in. Everyone is suppose to skate counterclockwise and not go through the middle but no one seems to unforced the rules. And as I skated I realized that there was a ridge on the right side of the insole that was rubbing on the bottom of my foot. I thought about trading them I but since I had to trade them out 3 times to get that pair I just dealt with it. Eventually we were thirsty so we asked for some water which each water costs $.50 each. I only had a credit card on me but there is a $5 minimum for credit card purchases so no water for us. So we decided to eat instead, the kids it a free hotdog and drink card with admission. Which when you think about it, everyone is charged the same about to get in so everyone should get a free hotdog and small drink, but that's not the case. So I asked to purchase a hotdog ($1.50) but then realized instill had to make a $5 minimum purchase so I said never mind I guess I'll just have to eat later. And the moron behind the counter just stared at me. Then we started to sit down so the kids could eat I turned around to get some napkins the girl is talking crap about me to another employee. This place feels and smells like everything is coved in a thick layer of scum, the carpet is disgusting and probably hasn't been changed since the 1980s. So moral of the story is don't waste your time and money! read more

This is a very nice skating rink! Plenty of room for everyone. There's lots of arcade games and it's a great place to have birthday parties!

If I could give half a star I would. First off, I went on a week day thinking that my kids who dont really know how to skate could get a chance to build up their confidence. Worst mistake!!! They are running a summer camp but wait I mean the kids are running the summer camp!! No supervision, the skate buddies I rented kept getting taken, and when I finally stepped up and said something I was given a lot of excuses. The kids in the program were rude and obnoxious. It made me angry, as a mother of two not so innocent teenagers I was furious that there was no discipline at all. Management was no where to be found. I used to love coming here as a kid and wish my kids could do the same. What a shame they will never recieve anymore of my hard earned money ever again. read more

I took my twin five and a half years old grandsons to this rink for their first experience. They had a great time, but two very different experiences. The rolling supports were a great help. Charlie had a spill on the skate rink, but then very happily skated with the support on the slower carpet area surrounding the rink. Victor was more adventuresome and got more aggressive as the time passed. He was quite sad he could not participate I the races. Even I, a 73-year- old grandma, who had not skated in forty years, used the rolling support until I got my skate legs back and could balance and skate without assistance. We had a great time. Have been a few times . Somewhat run down and probably wouldn't host my kids bday here . Floor is water damaged and cupped and frankly dangerous. Sound system is lacking any bass. Went here with a large group (7adults and 4 kids) to celebrate one of the kiddos birthdays. Great customer service at the front window as well as the patient attendants at the skate rental window. The music was loud most of the time to where you had a hard time hearing the person next to you. I wish they had at least one big table for large parties that did not book a party package because we had to take turns eating with kids and we ordered 3 pizzas and a ton of tater tots and didn't have a place to put it other than the round table by the arcade. read more

My daughter celebrated her 11th birthday today at Kate's Skate in Indian Trail. When I walked in, I was surprised at all of the improvements that have been made! Kate's has been around since I was a kid, and they have really brought it into the 21st century! My daughter was thrilled with the glow-in-the-room! The space was large and all of the neon was just what she imagined! Our party server was outstanding! We did not need to ask for anything, because he was one step ahead of us the entire time! I can not express how thrilled I was with the entire experience! We had 10 very happy and exhausted girls by the end of our skating party. Thank you Kate's Skate! read more

since i am working at a summer camp, i am attending a lot of field trips this time of year. we go to this place every other week for the entire summer so i have become pretty familiar with kate's. we go in the late morning until the early afternoon and they have skating and free hot dogs and pizza for $6/person. it's actually a pretty good deal. the rink itself is pretty standard with a small corner for kids to practice (has a wall to cling to). other rinks i have been to have a wall that lines the entire skating area but this one is only walled in one portion so its not the best for novice skaters. its all teenagers who work here and service is sub-par. i guess i can't blame them since there don't seem to ever be ANY adults working (who is supervising/ managing?). the pizza is sometimes pretty decent and sometimes horrible (dry/ burnt to a crisp) but, let's face it, you aren't coming to a skating rink for its fine cuisine. music is upbeat modern pop- perfect for a skating rink. arcade is horrible with very outdated games. fine place to bring the kids but i would wonder about any adults who choose this place to hang out. read more

We've been going to Kate's in Indian Trail for some time and have become a little annoyed with the people running this establishment. I'll start by giving credit where credit's due: It's cheap fun for the whole family. They have a great family deal on Friday nights for only $20 for 5 admissions (with at least 1 adult in your party) and skate rentals, a pizza and pitcher of soda. They also have cheap weekday skates as well. Now for the annoyances. The management and staff hang out in the front office and appear to not give a rat's behind what's going on in the rest of the building. You'll see teenagers humping each other in front of the snack bar, dopes throwing debris like bouncy balls and ice onto the rink floor, kids sprinting around the place chasing each other on foot (even weaving around skaters on the rink floor)...it's ridiculous! The staff does NOTHING. If they put one or two staff members on the rink floor on busy nights, Kate's might become a safe place for everyone, but it's clearly more important for the staff to hang out, dance with each other and talk to their friends. What bothers me most is that while they goof off, the whole place could really stand a cleaning...the owner an management should be embarrassed. There's garbage everywhere, broken video games strewn about the building (those in the arcade have "Out of Order" signs on half of them), the tables are always sticky, the carpet looks disgusting and even feels spongy in many areas due to spilled food and drinks. Why they put carpet inthe snack bar area, I'll never know. Don't even get me started on the bathrooms. Of all the times I've been to Kate's they've never had toilet paper in more than one stall. How lazy do you have to be not to supply your paying customers with something as simple as toilet paper? And while we're at it, if even one of the stall doors could get fixed so it would stay closed, that would be nice. They're all broken currenly and that's just silly. WAKE UP, KATE'S! Women like to urinate in private! But wait...there's more! Don't even think about buying a pair of skates at this Kate's location. Chances are near 100% you'll know more about what they're selling than their staff will. A woman who seemed to be a manager didn't know the price on a pair of skates and didn't even offer to check! Gee, thanks for nothing lady. I asked another staff member about the same skates a couple weeks later...same thing! That's very sad. Speaking of skates, Kate's rentals are absolute garbage. Expect to have to send them back a few times before you get a halfway decent pair and if you rent blades, I hope you enjoy skating on cracked wheels because they all seem to have them. The straps have been known to need duct tape as well. It's clear they don't have much regard for their customers' safety. My advice to skaters: Try it out but don't expect much more than a floor on which to skate. My advice to Kate's owner: Hire a whole new staff. The one you have currently is an embarrassment to you and does nothing for the money you pay them. The complete lack of service is turning customers away in droves and, mark my words, you will lose your business. read more

The place is pretty filthy. The carpet is sticky and nasty, and I wouldn't want to sit down anywhere. The ceiling leaks when it's raining, which tends to warp the floor. If they haven't refinished it in a few months (which is likely), be prepared for a bumpy ride. It's not all bad, but it's definitely NOT well-maintained, and no one who works there seems to really care about anything. read more

I visited Kate's for the first time last Sunday. I found the staff nice, and the only complaint I would have is in regard to safety. There were a number of children with the little skating "walkers" careening around like ping pong balls. They had no idea which direction to skate. Older kids skated while they texted or looking at their cell phones. Several young men walked around on the rink without skates on. One young pre-teen on inline skates sped around the rink turning corners WAY too close to people who were obviously beginner skaters. He caused at least one child to fall. I loved skating here, but safety should be more of a priority. It wasn't that crowded when I was there, so there was no excuse for staff not to have gotten some of this under control. read more

Brought my two kids here for a day of skating and fun. The staff was friendly and the guy behind the skate counter helped find my son the correct size skates to wear. The prices aren't terrible and the skate floor is in great condition. we will be coming back soon to skate again, my kids love it! read more

I bought a new version of Battlefield 1 from this store. It was the last version, and apparently the DVD was kept behind the counters separate from the box. When I got the DVD home, I noticed the DVD was cracked and would not install on my Xbox. I returned to the store the same day for a refund or an exchange. I waited in a very long line with only 2 staffers working a packed store. Thirty minutes later, I was told that there were no other copies of the game in the store and was offered a full refund. Later that week while reviewing my credit card statement, I noticed that Gamestop had actually charged me again for the defective DVD rather than credit a refund. I called the store the next day, and was told I had to settle this with 'corporate'. I called an 800 number on 2 separate occasions and was holding for 45 minutes each time, before I finally gave up. Ultimately, the only way I was able to clear up this bogus double charge, was to dispute the charges with my credit card company. Going forward, I will save myself the trouble and buy my new games from Best Buy or buy used games from another source. read more

I grew up in a skating rink as a child. So as a parent I love to bring my children skating. Times have changed for sure and most parents just use places like this as a "babysitter" and that isn't the rinks fault. However, this place is really great! The staff is friendly and fun. I know there are teens working there and probably their first job at that, so I expect a little attitude! The manager is really great and friendly to everyone. I see her all over the place every time my family goes there! There is some room for some spicing up (paint, carpet cleaning) but nothing major I've seen lately. I've noticed some changes in a positive direction over these past few months and we visit often. Saturdays are busy and I've noticed that Saturday nights are full of teenagers, just like back in my teen years. Nothing has changed there! They are rowdy and messy but they are safe that I've observed. Lighten up on your harsh reviews and remember that these people are working with teens, and probably the ones YOU drop off! As for the review for the alcohol, do you really want a person who's been drinking skating around with your child? Come on now! Kate's is awesome! read more
