So far we are very happy with our choice. She is very attentive, thorough, and friendly. She's very willing to take the time to answer all of our questions and seems to take a personal interest in our daughter's well being. It's my privilege to provide her first review.

As first-time parents, we were hoping for more guidance and education, but she rarely explained what to expect at each stage. Instead, she would simply ask if we had questions, provide very brief answers, and often seemed rushed to end the visit. We never felt like we received much support or education. The bigger issue was billing. We only scheduled routine well-child visits, which were covered by our insurance. Months later, we started receiving bills for additional office visits that we never actually made. After looking into it, we learned that some of the questions we asked during well-child visits had been billed as separate evaluation visits. For example, we mentioned our baby's diaper rash, she took a quick look, and gave about a 30-second recommendation to let it air out after baths. Another time, we noticed our baby's head flattening had gotten worse and brought it up ourselves. Dr. Thompson hadn't pointed it out during the exam, but once we mentioned it, she agreed it had worsened and wrote us a referral to a specialist. The entire conversation took about a minute. I understand billing separately if a concern requires significant evaluation or extends the appointment substantially. However, these were very brief discussions that I believed were appropriate to ask during a well-child visit. When we questioned the charges, the office referred us to our insurance, while the insurance told us we were responsible for the bills. It became a frustrating back-and-forth, and we ended up paying for visits we never intentionally scheduled. My advice would be to choose a different pediatrician. If you do see Dr. Lauren Thompson, be sure to ask before bringing up any concerns whether they will be considered part of the well-child visit or billed as a separate office visit. That's not something parents should have to worry about during a routine checkup, but it would have saved us some unexpected bills. We switched pediatricians over a year ago and have never encountered this issue again. Our current pediatrician proactively explains developmental milestones, prepares us for what to expect at each age, answers questions thoroughly, and never makes us feel rushed.
