I am so grateful to Dr. Chou! She has a very professional office, she listens patiently and responds clearly to all my questions and concerns, and the staff is equally professional, helpful and friendly. Most of all, three years ago, I went to Dr. Chou with persistent burning/itching on the soles of me feet, particularly at night, often waking me with the need to ice them, causing severe sleep disturbances. Diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy, she recommended a series of MLS treatments. I could not believe the relief, after just a few sessions, no more waking at night with need for ice. I now have a scheduled maintenance laser treatment every 6 weeks, which takes 10 or 15 minutes and have had no recurrence of the issue. MLS works! read more

I saw Dr. Chou for treatment of plantar fasciitous. She gave me orthotics, an arthritis gel, and recommended physical therapy. I asked for a referral for the physical therapy. Dr. Chou said I didn't need one. I cannot get coverage from MediCare and AARP for the physical therapy without a referral. The physical therapist wouldn't make an appointment without the referral. No one answered when I called Dr. Chou's office. I left four message on the her answering machine. I sent an email on her system. No responses. I went to my 4 week appointment earlier in the week. I was told that Dr. Chou was running 25 minutes late. The receptionist asked me if I wanted to leave and make another appointment. As I had already decided to stop seeing Dr. Chou and had made an appointment with another podiatrist, I asked for the referral so I could leave. The receptionist said that she would communicate with Dr. Chou. When Dr. Chou came to the interior door to meet her next patient, I explained what had happened. She apologized twice but made no offer of a referral. I have spent hundreds of dollars getting messages for me foot that probably would have been covered by MeciCare and AAARP for a physical therapist. I was so angry with Dr. Chou that I left and was upset the remainder of the day. Go to a podiatrist that runs a good office. read more

Dr. Katherine Chou, Doctor of Podiatric Medecine, is fantastic. I have been going to her for many years for diabetes nueropathy in my feet. I was originally struggling with cranky feet, no confidence in balance and struggling with shoes. With her guidance I am walking confidently with only occassional minimal foot pain when I do something . The orthotics she recommended are great and reasonably priced. I also use the monthly laser treatments which have really helped with sensitivity in my feet. I see her every 6 months for status exam. She is a good listener, a caring doctor and great at what she does. She has friendly, knowledgible and efficient staff. I have never had any administrative or insurance issues. The staff is great! I had a list of questions prepared, and went in thinking I just needed new orthotics, and knew I needed new running shoes (had both since before the pandemic), but Dr. Chou educated me on why not to use the standard bad sizing advice given in the past, as that contributed to the other concerns on my list. And she put in a pre-authorization to save on time, if after getting new runnings shoes I feel that I still need to replace my orthotics. I had a very unpleasant experience with Dr Chou.Firstly I would like to say that her receptionist Brianna is very professional and welcoming. As a registered nurse,when seeing a provider, I am always very organized prior to my appointment.I was clear about my goals for treatment and write down my questions ahead of time.I waited a month to see Dr Chou so I made the assumption that she must be really terrific Unfortunately I was dead wrong in my expectations I experienced her manner as brusk and disinterested.She has an angry and impatient edge to her communication style to the point of being rude and hostile.She was busy dictating to a remote medical record sight(which I agreed to) so I did not have the opportunity to ask questions involving a treatment plan.Frankly I felt rushed out of the appointment.Additionally,she charges quite a bit more for orthotics out of pocket since most insurance plans do not cover them.I called around to different companies and got a fair price. Even more egregious her assistant Jessica has misquoted me stating that I requested no further copays for visits insinuating that I support insurance fraud.That is completely untrue.since we had another visit to be scheduled as a follow which was free I made sure my copay was to be free. The takeaway I feel that dr Chou might want to look at her behavior that day with me as well others who have given her feedback about certain behaviors. That are hurtful to pts. read more

I was raised at a time when (as I recall) it was unethical for a medical professional to also sell products. I suppose one could wonder whether the profit on sales might affect the advice given. Dr. Chou does sell product and has a sample within reach in the examination room. I did not buy it but she indicated that as an Rx, it was twice as strong as that which could be brought OTC. But, as a Rx, why not just write a prescription and buy it at a drug store. I smell the profit motive here. On medical advice, I found her advice unacceptably deficient. She advised an OTC fungal solution, saying to buy the cheapest as they are "all the same." They were not; there were three different active ingredients in the OTC meds I found. I also found other advice she had about my feet to be inconsistent to what I already knew. read more

Dr Chou was not pleasant during my last two visits. She spent minimal amount of time with me, 10 minutes or so. When I got the bill from my insurance, her bill was not only not covered by insurance, and it amounts to over $300 for such a short visit. I am dismayed that she can charge so much to patients for doing so little. I feel sick about it actually. I don't recommend her. read more

She's a hard charger. She was able to see me within 1 week as a new patient. Usually, because of insurance bs, I often have to wait upwards of 60 days to see a new provider, even for potentially serious issues. That's obviously not optimal or safe. Her office staff is well versed with new technologies. Text messages and emails. They were prompt in responding to my inquiries. Now for the nuts and bolts if you will. The Dr. Executed a very thorough examination of my feet. She even quickly identified something we affectionately called "Navy Foot", which is a really bad form of athletes foot. She gave me a cream to address this. I was skeptical about it working. That stuff worked in just 1 application. I am impressed. My original reasoning for my appointment was orthotics. I appreciate her approach for addressing this issue. The last Dr gave me incorrect inserts for my occupational demands. I've even had to deal with doctors attempting to correct inaccurate measurements with felt padding. Felt adjustments to orthotics last me about a week. So I. Short I recommend this doctor read more

I am so thankful my primary care Dr. referred me to Dr. Chou's office. This office is top notch. Everyone from the admin to the assistants to Dr. Chou herself are all professional, proficient, personable and friendly. When you walk in the door you are greeted immediately and I often barely have time to sit down before the assistant is asking me to go to a room. I have watched as the admin person handles an influx of people waiting to make appointments, to be checked in or handling their orders all at once and yet is very upbeat, quick and professional. I have been through so very much with my feet/especially my right foot after a very unfortunate surgery. Dr. Katherine E Chou taught me so much in foot health, orthotics and being brave enough to try a very different approach: her orthotics! I CANNOT believe it...but I am proof! I have had custom orthotics made by 3 prominent places in SF Bay area. None of them really made a difference. Dr. Chou's custom orthotics are thin, got into most of my shoes, and I can wear the same pair of shoes all day; a new idea for me!!!! When I first saw them, I couldn't see how they could help. After wearing them...I feel so differently: a believer! Dr. Katherine Chou gets it!!!!! We do not only wear athletic shoes, so why is it ok to accept orthotics that only fit Hoka shoes? Dr. Chou is the 4th podiatrist I've seen as an adult, and I'm so very glad I found her. She is incredibly knowledgeable and told me things about my pronation that none of the prior podiatrists did. She utilizes a custom orthotic that is designed to actually correct my condition, rather than just provide arch support like the previous ones I've had did. My knee pain has all but dissipated because my bones are coming into alignment and my muscles are being strengthened. She and her staff are terrific. I recommend her and her practice wholeheartedly. I am so h appy I found Dr. Chou! I went through several podiatrists, but she is the only one I trust. She did surgery on my toe a few weeks ago, and I couldn't be happier with the result. I had a grown in toe nail which was painful as all hell. She cut it out and bandaged me. I have no idea how she was able to do it, but I had absolutely no pain whatsoever even once the aesthetic wore off. I was able to walk after the procedure, the whole day and the following days. I could tell immediately that she had deep and practical knowledge about foot and ankle injuries. I used to think custom orthotics was just a way for doctors to charge you a lot of money and that I could just get something from one of those foot stores (boy was I wrong) until I got my own custom orthotics. There is absolutely no way you could buy anything off the shelf in a store that would make up for getting custom made orthotics if you have plantar fasciitis! Worth every penny! These orthotics have changed my life!!! And Dr Chou is the best! She is so knowledgeable and goes through everything with you so that you understand it from stem to stern she's just a fun lovely person who I enjoy going to see each time I have a visit to my foot doctor. the desk lady lied to me, she said I need a prescription to get a pumice stone from Walgreens. By e-mail she also said Dr. Chou only wants me to use lotion and not the pumice stone. But I clearly remember Dr. Chou telling me to use lotion and the pumice stone. Is Dr. Chou forgetful or is there something wrong with the desk lady. I don't know.
